Service: N/A. Delivery only. I actually walked all the way to their location to see their establishment and it was literally a kitchen. There was a woman making rolls inside and that was it. I was hoping to have a place to actually order and pick up, but the woman told us to call our order in. Having been here, I feel disillusioned that the pricing would be so high. Sure, they are still cheaper than the other sushi joints, but given that they are operating on such a small location with no need for decorating, I expected dirt-cheap. We ordered the Lobster, California, and Dragon Roll. Lobster was very well done and still warm when delivered with ample amounts of meat. California was the usual fare, but the Dragon Roll did have ample amounts of unagi too. In terms of quality, this place definitely is as good if not better than the other sushi places in La Jolla. Unfortunately, the delivery was slow or they skipped us. After making the order and heading back to my apartment on campus just across the street, we called to check on our order half an hour later. They told us they were on the way and then about another half hour later, the delivery guy came knocking on our door. I really liked this sushi! I was spending the night at the Sheraton and walked over to Delsushi out of curiosity. I walked up to the door to see that the place is to-go and delivery only. They were very nice and I ordered the Rainbow Roll and the Baked Lobster Roll to go. Within 10 minutes they had it ready for me. I took it back to the hotel and it was a great dinner. I just ordered del sushi at midnight for the first time and I'm really impressed. I picked the lobster roll and the Philadelphia which were both fresh and tasty. They threw in one whole complimentary lobster roll. I also also got the miso and edamame . The convenient online menu, late night hours, (delivers until 2am!) and the good quality sushi won me over. Sushi is ok here... Dragon roll was great but the spicy crunch roll was definitely not crunchy... I think the best part is the delivery aspect of this place....really sushi delivery? :) Ordering online is nice and they show pics of everything so you know what to expect.... Sushi is acceptable, but you don't order from DelSushi for amazing sushi. You order for convenience because they deliver so late into the night. If you keep this in mind and order online, you'll have a good experience 90% of the time. If you have any reason to call the experience won't be as pleasant. A passive aggressive tone is very evident and every phone call feels like I'm being attacked and accused of something. I don't agree with the saying that the customer is always right, but I would hope that there is some level of professionalism. If the customer is respectful and to the point you don't need to shit on their existence for "wasting time". read more

I've been ordering Delsushi for the past 2 years and it is honestly one of the best delivery services around! My favorite rolls are the baked lobster, normandie and the spicy tuna rolls. The rolls are reasonably priced and there is no delivery charge at all, so I tip the driver instead. The fish is pretty fresh and the rolls are decent sized. Two rolls gets me pretty full and satisfied, it is good for a full meal. If you are just looking for a little midnight snack one roll should be enough. They also have a lot of candy, drinks and coffee to help with those midterms and finals, when you are too busy to go out. The best part is that they deliver until 2am. read more

I love this place! But I only get one roll every time though which is the Jessica roll. The Jessica roll is by far the best roll in my opinion and I never get tired of it. I've been a supporter of DelSushi ever since they've started up. When they first started the sushi was amazing. However, the quality definitely have decreased over the years, but it was tolerable. However, my most recent order from DelSushi has been extremely disappointing. The baked sushi was cold and the rice wasn't even cooked well. I found chunks of uncooked rice in the sushi. It's definitely not worth the money, especially since they do have $15 minimum purchase. read more

Quite possibly the worst sushi I've had in my entire life. One of the biggest parts of sushi besides the actual fish itself (I'll get into that later) is the rice. They literally just made some rice, rolled it into a ball and threw a piece of raw fish on it. Traditionally vinegar, salt and sugar are added but in this case, it was just a rolled up ball of terribly made rice. Now going onto the actual fish, the quality of the fish is worse than that of places where you expect the quality to be bad such as todai or some sushi buffet and maybe even safeway. This is a good two tiers below that which is pretty bad. The fish had a pungent "fishy" smell to it (especially the tuna which is the mildest of the category). I also ordered the sashimi salad which was probably the biggest mistake ever. On top of the bad quality smelly fish, which I got maybe 5-6 tiny cubes of, the salad dressing was very mediocre and bland. People mentioned their prices being reasonable, this is FAR from the case. For the price they're charging, you'd expect at least the quality of some local restaurants around La Jolla such as Edamame. Over all, I'd give them one star for being open late night and having the delivery option as their selling point. Will not be ordering from them again. read more

Aside from that, the sushi was barely mediocre. All the sushi rolls I ordered tasted the same. The flavors were very one dimensional. This is good for what it is. It's a delivery service for sushi, if you're craving sushi, this is what you want. They're a little expensive, but you are paying for the delivery. The guys who deliver the food to you are super nice! The sushi is whatevers. I have had better which is why I would probably not order from them again. The Miso soup didn't have tofu or seaweed in it, it was just soup which kind of annoyed me. The spicy california roll wasn't even spicy. They just put a dab of spicy sauce on it, but it doesn't make it spicy. The spicy crunch was probably the better of the ones I've tried, but it still wasn't the best. I would like to try their other more extravagant rolls and their baked rolls but I wouldn't like to pay for this quality sushi again. They are open from 7pm-2am which is good if you want a late night snack/dinner. Overall, I would not order from here again, but if you crave sushi and don't want to leave to get it?
