The Delta One Lounge at JFK was (in contrast to the one at LAX) rather underwhelming compared to what it was marketed for. It was very crowded, noisy, and the food items were okay but not splendid. But still a better place to wait for the boarding than otherwise. read more

Short Review: Nice alternative to sitting in the airport terminal, but not the upscale amenities or service to make it distinctive. Long Review: So Delta One is positioned as a distinctive experience from curbside to seat from Delta. It's meant to give First Class and certain Medallion members a much more enhanced experience than the rest of its passengers. After all, Delta One seat prices are outrageously expensive so the idea is to augment the sticker price with amazing benefits and service beyond what you'd normally get. I've been to 2 of the 3 current Delta One lounges: JFK and LAX. The Lounge in Los Angeles actually goes way more above and beyond in terms of service. There is a completely separate and inviting entrance right off the Arrivals gates, and when you walk in it looks like an upscale spa. When you walk in the Lounge at JFK, it's a makeshift entrance with absolutely nothing remarkable about it. I was greeted with a friendly hello by a person with no smile. (Seriously? I didn't even know that was possible.) Now in his defense, it was 6:45am, but isn't that late for an airport worker? Once you show your identification, you go into an open restaurant save with a buffet-style kitchen. The food is pretty good but I wouldn't say there is the variety that you get at the LAX location. Now the good thing was that I was greeted by a nice young man, right after I finished my meal, who volunteered to show me the massage chairs and book me an immediate appointment. I accepted his offer and tried it out. They set up the chair with pre-programmed massages and if I'm honest it wasn't the one I would have chosen. However, I'll never turn down a massage and it was nice to have the quiet time before my flight. I wouldn't count this place out yet. I'm sure it will improve over the years, but as they start out it's a little underwhelming in terms of service and food for what you'd expect at a high-end lounge. read more

Let me tell you... I sat out on the patio (because the lounge was full but the staff was smart/kind enough to allow those of us in line to immediately populate this space) and was immediately approached by Ms. Augustine who was kind enough to snag a drink from the bar for me and another traveller I was chatting with. What? I don't even have to go to the bar myself, request and wait for a drink?! Say less, Ms. Augustine. When I tell you this woman was kindly looking out for me...Ms. Augustine was looking out for me. After only one drink she kindly suggested I get something to eat before grabbing another cocktail for me. She even kept an eye on my belongings when I went to the bathroom. I have to admit, I appreciated the Auntie-knows-best vibes Ms. Augustine was dishing out because she was right: I did need something on my tummy! And this is where the JFK Delta lounge excels. Every time I come through here it's clear the employees are paying attention to the small details. From the attendants at check-in who are committed to getting you out of the terminal and into the lounge, to the folks IN the lounge who are so incredibly observant of individual guests. I have no clue what the B terminal Delta lounge experience is like, and quite frankly, after several trips to THIS lounge...I have no desire to find out. Just come here. Despite the chaos of JFK, the delta one experience is... in a word... tranquil, from the moment you step into the Delta One check-in space. The whole check-in /security process took all of five minutes - midday on a busy weekday no less. Before I knew it I was being greeted by the delta one lounge staff. First off, this place is stunning. Literally. The sheer size of the space alone is impressive--it's not just big, it's well-thought-out, with multiple seating areas, a massive bar, and private workstations. It's spacious without feeling... well like an airport. The design is understated, elegant, and comfortable. And the food...Wow! Definitely one of the best airport meals I've ever had. I had time so I opted for a full meal at the brasserie, and everything I ate was top-notch. For starters, I had the calamari was perfectly done with a super flavorful dipping sauce. The burger, which I'd heard so much about, definitely lived up to the hype--juicy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. And to finish, the soufflé was just a delight. Delta has a hit on their hands. I've not been to any of the comparable offerings from other airline lounge operators, but the Delta One Lounge at JFK flies high. The design is stunning, the food is top notch, and the drinks are dialed in. If the Brasserie was in my neighborhood, it would be in my regular rotation. Over three visits, the only real miss for us were the neck massages. Staff are admittedly limited in what they can do in 15mins with fully clothed customers, and I imagine fatigue is a factor, but both of us felt they were like a lomi lomi (gentle) massage. The staff could ask guests how forceful they'd like the massage and offer an elbow. Well worth a stop before departure or on arrival before they realize how much money they're spending on staff and food and dial it back! By the numbers: Food 5/5 Drink 5/5 Service 4/5 Ambiance 5/5 Value -/5 Duck à l'orange - Very good. Perfectly done with a sweet/bitter orange sauce that balanced the richness of the duck. This is one of the best Delta lounges and they offer a full service restaurant with the best service and beautifully presented food. The ambiance is nice but does get a bit crowded but you have to have a Delta One boarding pass to enter this club. They have showers, a wellness center with relaxation chairs and massages available all included. The staff at this club has got to be the best hand picked cream of the crop with people like Bryant M. and his staff working to make sure everybody is very happy. Flying to Sao Paulo via Delta One, didn't even know there was a 'Delta One" lounge at JFK. Typically use the standard Delta Sky Club which is a good respite from waiting on a chair at the gate. Can actually get some work done at a Delta Sky Club. Delta One Lounge is a whole different level of "ultra premium airline lounges". Even as a frequent flyer, haven't experienced any USA lounges of this caliber. From the check in process at JFK, which began with a dedicated section of the terminal and a dedicated TSA security checkpoint, to the attitudes of everyone at each step of the check in process, Delta One is a whole different level of CS. Even the TSA staff were friendly and all smiles. We only had about an hour before boarding, but we were able to enjoy a full, restaurant quality Easter Sunday brunch, prepared by a NY Michelin star chef, prior to takeoff. Closest other experience at an airport lounge would be the Emirates First Class lounge in Dubai. The photos speak for themselves, tasteful artwork on the walls, full marble bathroom larger than most NY condos, excellent food, excellent CS attitudes, far surpassing Disneyworld standards. I have been a passionate traveler since my teens. I have traveled all around the world. I have flown economy my whole life in order to be able to afford my travels. I am about to share with you a once in a lifetime experience that absolutely took my breath away. I'm talking about Delta One, both the flight and their lounge at JFK. As I've gotten older, I've noticed sitting in a cramped economy seat for 8 or 10 or 24 hours became longer and longer and more and more uncomfortable. I also have come to the realization that I am 72 and if I want to continue traveling, I need to dig a little deeper into my pocket and find ways that can make that work. Take a taxi instead of a bus! Stay in a nicer hotel that is convenient and comfortable rather than some crappy cheap place! I had heard and read about the Delta One experience, and so one morning a few months back I started playing around on the Delta app to see how much one of those tickets cost. As much as I wanted to break out of my box, I could not bring myself to spend $6,000 or $9,000 I kept searching...Suddenly, I checked out a round trip from JFK to Athens, Greece in December and it was $3,200 for Delta One. Economy was close to $2,000. Surely for another $1,200 I should treat myself and see what this is all about. I kept clicking thinking it was a mistake, but I'll be damned. I actually did get a round trip Delta One ticket for that price. And let me tell you what an out of this world experience it was! When you arrive at JFK, there is actually a separate entrance for Delta One travelers only. As soon as I walked in and showed them my boarding pass, I was in another world that I never knew existed. I walked down a gorgeous hallway adorned with the most beautiful artwork and flowers and music and at the end of the hallway was coffee and tea and drinks and snacks and most importantly, black and white cookies. I took that as omen that I was at the right place. Did they put out those black and whites just for me? LOL After my snack I noticed a Delta rep literally waiting to check my bags. No line. No waiting. No nothing. Just her waiting to assist me. After I checked in I went through security which is only for the Delta One passengers. I think there were two people ahead of me LOL Following check in and security which took two minutes, you are escorted to the Delta One lounge. I walked in and my eyes popped out of my head. The place was huge and gorgeous. When I told the front desk that I had never experienced Delta One before, a lovely young lady gave me a grand tour. OMG is all I have to say. So let me tell you about my afternoon prior to my flight After my private tour I sat down in a five-star restaurant for a full 3-course meal. Everything was absolutely delicious and I felt like a king. Mind you, all of this is included by flying Delta One! After my amazing meal I headed to the Wellness Center. There I was treated to a neck and head massage followed by different treatments and different chairs for my legs and back and state of mind. Each chair was different and wonderful and quite therapeutic and relaxing. If that wasn't enough, I was asked if I would like to clean up. with a gorgeous private bathroom, luxurious shower, plush bathrobe. comfy slippers, an abundance of toiletries and the works. They asked me if I would like my shoes shined and my clothes steamed while I cleaned up, and of course I said "Yes, thank you!! I had the best time cleaning up and relaxing in the shower before my journey. Afterwards, I visited a beautiful buffet. I ordered a couple of mini sandwiches and some cannolis and a cup of coffee and sat grinning from ear to ear in one of the lounges that faced the runway. I was an absolute heaven! It's a shame I do not drink because there were bars everywhere! Eventually it was time to head to my plane. 4 hours had flown by. I just couldn't believe it. I hated to leave! Then I boarded the Delta plane and was escorted to my Delta One seat. . It's more like your own little world. Everything you can think of was in that cubicle including a large comfy pillow and warm fluffy blanket. as soon as I settled in I was served warm nuts and my diet Coke. Whole can of course with ice! The meals were fantastic and they were constantly checking in to see if there was anything else I wanted. When I didn't want to be disturbed, I simply illuminated my do not disturb sign. You even have a little door that closes for privacy. Can you believe it? I watched a movie, ate my head off and then took a nice snooze. The flight was 10 hours but it felt more like two or three. Before I knew it, I was in Athens. Greece rested, pampered and ready for my vacation. I felt so rich so special so pampered. Delta has finally upped their lounge game and is now competing in the big leagues. Highlights: + located between A and B terminals + restricted access to only those traveling DeltaOne or the equivalent business class on their partners (I.e Virgin Atlantic, KLM, Korean Air, LATAM, Air France) +the number of individuals working the lounge is much higher than you'd see at the regular sky clubs. And the service is top notch + you can check your bags upon arrival so that you can freely move through out the space + the lounge is huge and each space is clearly defined +food and drinks are plentiful. The Market offers many selections and has clearly marked allergens. There were many gluten free options, including a freaking bagel during lunch. Brasserie ( the restaurant) is open for lunch and dinner + the wellness area is not to be missed. If you have time, the 20 minute massage chair recovery program is a must. It definitely gets the blood flowing after a long flight +use kiosks to book services and you'll receive texts once it's your time to go + terrace is a very relaxing area to sit back and watch the planes. Also, it has one of the more comfortable chairs to sit in. Plus it is quieter + there are enclosures that can be used to make calls if needed Definitely a must visit if you have the time. Tips: *the spa treatments don't start till 12, but you can book the other amenities *there are periods of time where the lounge is less bus, ~9 am -1 pm There are fewer outlets out on the terrace, especially by the windows. read more

The Delta one lounge was truly an amazing experience. It was like the Disney of airport lounges. The whole experience started the minute you get to the airport. When you get dropped off there is a separate entrance for delta 1. You go through its on check in line separate from the rest of the airport. You then have its own tsa security check point and finally are lead to the lounge. We opted to go straight to the restaurant within the lounge. Food and service was amazing!! After the delicious 3 course meal we went to the massage chairs. I then took a detour to the buffet and had some more delicious food. Last stop was one of the bars. This was the most impressive Delta lounge I have visited. The restaurant style dining option, along with major amenities such as massage, quiet rooms, showers, sauna, and sleep rooms are impressive. Staff are trained well, amd are friendly, respectful, and sincere. The only downside is that people will be people, even at this facility when a famous person walks into the lounge. They tend to revert to a 10 year old mentality, crowding their personal space and not respecting their privacy at this higher end establishment. read more

I had an opportunity to enter this Delta premium lounge. That is a privilege. Although I fly often, I rarely take Delta. I was surprised to receive an upgrade (I believe the algorithm has to do not only with status but also the ticket class originally purchased, and I was full fare coach class at an unusual time on a sparsely populated plane). With that, I was eligible to enjoy this place. I had visited the normal option, and they informed me I could go back for the greater luxury. It reminded me of that episode of the Frasier sitcom. The Crane boys go to a spa. They learn there is a more exclusive spa inside the spa. They are so enthralled with elitism, pursuing what is denied others, they go through a final door, which leads to the back alley, where the garbage cans are kept. In any event, the Delta lounge is fancy. For another pop culture reference, it's like that line in Ferris Bueller: "It's so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend it." The facility was vast. There are all sorts of seating options. So it doesn't feel crowded, which is a problem now given how many people enter on credit cards (that includes me; I count myself among the riff raff). The furniture also is comfortable. A sit down restaurant has a bit of a wait, and it didn't seem worth it. There may be slight differences in menu options, but not the quality overall. The food was excellent. I ordered muscles and a steak, and they both were surprisingly incredible. Amen. We have a lounge that has arrived and is SOMEWHAT close so far to what certain private companies offer, but in the commercial market... For starters, check-in for luggage is like what it is for Delta One at LAX and I love it. Non-chaotic, the attendants are extremely accommodating, and it's just serene. How check-in should always be. Next, you go through security and then are led to the lounge which rivals the commercial Plaza Premium First lounges in Asia (per all offerings) and somewhat surprisingly enough the Amex lounge in ATL (per the layout). The service here at the Delta One Lounge is beyond amazing. And it was nice to see a few familiar faces working here from other rivaling JFK lounges :) Where they shine is with the shower suites, soundproof booths, and the spa area. A great spot to enjoy quiet prior to or after a long flight. Honorable mention: The restaurant. I came here on a subsequent visit since it opens at 11 am daily. This is the first truly world-class lounge at JFK. The bar, the restaurant, and the buffet all offer excellent choices. I could only try the massage chair in the spa - because the club was so crowded, everything else was booked. Despite the crowd, our group of 8 was able to get a table in the restaurant in about 20 minutes. The food was outstanding. They even offered chocolate souffle for dessert! There is a full restaurant where I have raw fish and steak tartare with champagne, and soufflé as a dessert. Cocktails are really well crafted, tweaks on flagship recipes. The buffet is also a good choice, more of veggies / flatbreads / etc. Lots of quiet space in the back of the lounge. And showers as well. Didn't get a chance to try the relaxation pods. Not quite an arms race of international proportions, but airport lounges have been trying to out-do each other to attract the well-heeled customers (not that I count myself among that target group per se), Centurion Lounges rose up fast and furious in recent years to 'shame' 'traditional' airport lounges like Delta Sky Club, which spurred the opening of such offerings as the magnificent Sky Clubs at LGA, SEA, and other airports. Even Capital One got into the act with a couple of entries. The latest king of the hill, though, is undoubtedly the two Delta One Lounges. Found only in JFK and LAX (with Boston, not Atlanta, slated to open next, and none other planned), they are only for customers flying in the Delta One cabin (it's Delta's Business Class on international flights), or similar on partner airlines. Even if you're flying domestic first class, you don't get in (exception - Diamond Medallion/360^ customers). It's so exclusive that, while you can bring in a guest or two, it'll set you back a Benjamin each. So, it was with great anticipation that we entered on our way to Lisbon 3 weeks ago. And we were so not disappointed! Complimentary wellness services like massages Champagne instead of Prosecco, premium liquor and wines, and -get this - a sit-down separate dining room where a waiter serves you. Who needs Centurion Lounges when you can get into one of these babies? We only sampled a plate of giant scallops, and they were delicious. One bottle of Champagne was off, a problem quickly rectified. Our only regret is not having enough time to more fully enjoy it. We've been loath to splurge on business class tix for our international travel; suffice to say that this will change the price-value calculus. read more

The lounge is very pleasant in its comfort and amenities but definitely frenetic. A bit louder than I'd prefer and always a challenging to find seating. I'm always amazed how many people are flying internationally on ridiculously expensive tickets at any given time. The staff is very accommodating and the food restaurant quality. read more
