Visiting Virginia City is always fun. We were hungry and places to eat in Virginia City is really limited. We were surprised to see the Delta Restaurant open again for dinner. We headed to the bar area and saw they were once again offering lunch items. We decided to give them a try. We sat by the huge screen playing 80s music videos, yes, love it! A server came up and took our order. We ordered the prime rib dip, a salad and a kid's chicken strips for my 88 year old mom. The wait was longer than we expected, around 20-25 minutes. However, when we got our food it was really good. My daughter loved her chicken salad and was given 2 salad dressing. My husband and I split the prime rib dip. It was very good...it could have used maybe one more slice of meat but still good. My mom really enjoyed her chicken strips. She couldn't finish it so I tried it. It was cooked perfect and very juicy. Prices was not bad at all. I used the restroom here. They had plenty of stalled in the women's. They were clean as well. When we asked about an update we were told another 15 minutes which turned to 45. Half an hour later, I asked again when we would be seated. There were about 10 tables finishing and when we were seated there were only 4. It took an hour to get our bottle of wine and two hours to get our prime ribs. There were 6 of us and only 3 got that. We were told they sous vide everything and it takes a while. It took over 2 hours for the main courses to arrive. No checking in, nothing. The food was not great. The meat was cold, the baked potato not cooked enough, the mac and cheese was dried out like it had been sitting in a warmer all day. Virginia City, is a national historic site. You would expect some pretty good food in a place like that but Virginia City, eats can be hit or miss. Delta Saloon was good for breakfast. They had some fun menu items and the portions and food quality were above average for breakfast in this little historic spot. A giant bloody mary helps smooth out the second half of your motorcycle ride home. Portion size was great and price was normal for a tourist spot. read more

What a horrible experience all around. Half-busy & all the workers were more focused on setting up for New Years + smoking cigs outside than servicing our table of 7 ppl who were ready to eat, drink & spend $$. 20min after being seated we finally were visited by a waitress (older women) who asked if we wanted drinks & we told her we were ready for both our food & drink orders. She immediately stated she "meant to go to a different table" and walked away. I then walked to the bar and asked if someone could serve us and they said someone would be over immediately. Well i ate the wing and that was okay and when i got to the thigh piece it wasn't cooked all the way thru it was all frozen. It's one of the ol' timey saloons in Virginia City. Tourist stuff that's worth a peek: Suicide Table $1M globe There's a HUGE bar with tables and a small stage. A small gift shop. And the cafe which is a great place to grab a meal when you're not in the mood to belly up to the bar or you're traveling with kids. Parking is available across the street for $10 a day (prices may vary). As I kid I would belly up to the bar for a root beer -- that was long ago so I don't think they allow it now. As a grownup I've taken several groups there for lunch. Yes they can accommodate walk in groups but we called ahead. Jessie, F&B gal, gave options of selected menu or al la cart. The. staff is always great to my groups. The portions are HUGE; all my guests left happy. Save room for dessert some of the best cobbler can be had post lunch or skip lunch and go right to dessert. As my guests eat I usually sit at the bar with Sidney, bartender, she always pleasant. One day I'll get to have one of her cocktails. My go to is the BLTA wrap with fries -- a lightish lunch with the perfect amount of fried goodness. Check to see if they're open. Yelp has them closed on many days they are open. read more

Spring finally arrived in full force and I was able to get the motorcycle out of winter storage. Dave H. and I headed out early for a quick shake down ride. We decided on Virginia City as the destination for a late breakfast. The Delta Saloon was waiting for us with open arms! Town was quiet when we arrived, but it was getting ready to be a busy day. We later found out it was spring Street Vibrations weekend. We were quickly seated in the restaurant with a subdued group of other breakfast seekers. Coffee was produced quickly much to my appreciation. The menu was simple, but hit all the classics. A very creative (and new to me) name for eggs, "Hen Fruits"! After a couple hours on the bike, a hearty breakfast was needed. I went for the biscuits and gray, with a couple of scrambled Hen Fruits and a side of sausage. The generous amount of food arrived in a reasonable time frame. Two large biscuits smothered in gravy and topped off with bacon crumbles. A nice portion of scrambled Hen Fruits and four sausage links with a bit of fruit on the side. The biscuits and gravy were a little on the cool side. The rest of the food was just the right temp. Biscuits had just a touch of sweetness to them which I found interesting. The gravy was tasty and plentiful. The Hen Fruits were on point and the sausage was tasty. Dave H. asked for a pancake on the side. That thing was Yuge! Overflowing a dinner plate! The waitress and bus girl were attentive and my coffee cup was always full. Prices were fair. read more

Now I understand why this rating was a 1 1/2 star, we all ordered food from here, ribs, burgers and other items which all came way over cooked and completely they dry. How could you possibly ruin a burger and make it taste like rubber??? I would think since this town was super slow due to covid that there meals would be dialed In since they are not rushed. The prices were insane as well, a burger that was $10.00 last year has now sky rockets to $14.00 I guess to make up for loss of income from the pandemic! We got a late start the day we went out to Virginia City. The sun was baring down and all the close parking was taken. We had to walk a distance, which seemed longer than it actually was due to heat. By the time we got to the main road, everyone in my group was hungry because we didn't stop to eat on the way up. Most of the things on the road seemed to be only open for breakfast. It was difficult to find a place that was serving lunch. We came across this place and it was packed. I think it had to do with the fact it was the only restaurant serving food at the time. However, service was prompt. The menu had sandwiches, salads and finger foods. I had chicken tenders and fries. I also helped someone finish off their taco salad. On the drive up I kept seeing advertisements for the suicide table and I was intrigued. However, I didn't see where it was located and I had hoped to run into it. After we finished eating I asked were the restroom was. Our server indicated it was through some doors on the right side of the restaurant. I walked through the doors into a big saloon. There was also a gift shop in the space. In the back corner where the restroom was, was the suicide table! I went back to the table and let everyone know about it since we had talked about getting drinks at a saloon while we were there. Two malibu sprites and beers later we went to check out the store and the suicide table. It's a nice place to hang out at. I highly recommend it! read more

I was up in Virginia City about a week ago exploring and setting up a field trip for some homeschoolers. I was getting hungry about the time I walked past this restaurant. They had some tasty sounding specials and that was that. I ordered a meatball sub with fries. The bread was humongous. I was taking a "Gluten Cutter", but I still felt like this would really be overdoing it. (I tore most of the bread off.) The sandwich was really tasty, though, and those without any issues with bread would absolutely love this. It was messy, but that's to be expected with a good quality meatball sub. The fries were good, but nothing too special. The service by my waitress wasn't really up to par, though. Thankfully, the lady who appeared to be mostly busing tables paid attention whenever I was trying to wave down my waitress. My waitress wasn't really busy or anything, but was one who seemed to keep looking past you. The other lady always noticed right away. She was the one to actually bring me my water, place setting, extra napkins, and filled my water at least a couple of times. My waitress just took the order, brought the food, and sometimes checked on me after I got what I needed from the other lady. If it wasn't for this other lady, my experience would have been so much worse and my rating lower. She saved the day. Would I go again? Probably not. It wasn't necessarily worth the price and if the lady busing tables isn't on duty.... who knows? read more
