Came here with my family and had a great breakfast! The service was great and the food was delicious too. It was kinda of busy which to me is good because that means people like it! So I would recommend this place for breakfast

    Staple in Croissant Bread

Today 8/17/25 i ordered my usual go to breakfast sandwich from Dempseys , as i was unwrapping the sandwich i noticed what appeared to be a staple embedded in the bread. I immediately called the restaurant to make them aware of the situation but they placed blame on the Bread company ( Edelweiss ) but they should also be quality checking products before sending them out . not only that myself and my coworker also found hair in our potatoes . what makes the situation worse i'm pregnant and i thank goodness i didn't bite into that sandwich talk about EMOTIONAL DISTRESS !!!

Food was delicious, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. I recommend the steak and eggs!

Two 2 Eggs & Corned Beef Hash

Hole in the wall so perfectly northern diner style. Being in the south, I've missed the New England corn beef hash with runny poached eggs. Although my eggs came out medium poached, it was quickly fixed and everything was delicious. The meat was so flavorful. The potatoes looked like they might be bland but they were heavily seasoned and crispy on the outside. Only catch is they do not serve free refills, but the coffee mugs are pretty big. They also let you know before simply pouring another cup which I find pretty considerate these days.

    Onion in strawberry Waffle

Ordered from Dempseys on Uber eats for the first time. Got a strawberry waffle with whoop creme. Four bites in I bit into a raw onion. Ruined the whole waffle for me. Makes me worried about other cross contamination issues.

Food really wasn't bad, it was super special what I should have noticed was there was only one Cook staffed today. It was the closest thing to the hotel we stayed before catching my flight. Waited almost 50 minutes for my food. I guess it's my fault that they were understaffed today otherwise I would have opted for something else

    Dempsey's French Toast

The food was mediocre at best. I ordered through GrubHub and wrote a few modifications to my order in the note section (turkey bacon, sausage for example) and they sent me pork anyhow without a call first to let me know they could not accommodate my order. They have Nantucket Nectar advertised and they sent me a Snapple. Huge difference for anyone who hates drinking fake juice. The orange juice was also some powder drink, perhaps Tang. The Dempsey's French toast was given to me as a sandwich presentation with an excess of the cream all over it. I spent about $60 for my order through Grub Hub only to get less than what I want. I'm very disappointed-the only reason they got two stars instead of none was bc the home fries were very well made and so were the eggs.

The scrambled eggs were perfectly done, not runny or gooey like other places. The potatoes perfectly seasoned and slightly crunchy out and soft inside. The Banana bourbon French toast...Is the best breakfast food I've ever had and I eat out frequently. I literally scraped my plate clean. I would have done the same with my eggs, potatoes and Turkey sausage but I couldn't eat another bite. I wish we had a North Street Grille here but perhaps it's better that I not have easy access to the quality of food otherwise I'd need a new bigger size wardrobe. If in Boston this is an ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE. If we had room and weren't leaving town the same night we'd have bought the banana bread. They provide complementary for each table and it's one of the bestest most beautifully made banana breads I've had. Service was fast and friendly. It's a cute and quaint little place packed to gills with people which is fine because everyone is friendly and the food is divine!!!!

There were only 2 of us, but we couldn't decide what to order so we got 4 items. The short rib grilled cheese was great, not too fatty (which I prefer). The fries were also good. The lobster sliders were a little too wet for us, but paired well with the fries. We underestimated the size of the salad, but it was a solid salad. My friend really enjoyed the banana bourbon French toast and she's someone that doesn't have a sweet tooth. She really liked the caramelized parts, reminded her of taffy. We killed as much as we could!

PATTY MELT REVIEW…read more Iconic diner on the edge of Chinatown, a couple blocks east of the Expressway. It's been around for decades and it's open 24/7. More of an authentic this-place-has-aged feel than the typical diner attempt to evoke an earlier era. Went in the morning and went for a patty melt-- because I could. It's too elusive these days, so being able to not only find one but have it at breakfast, a double win. Double patty is standard, not an add-on, and fries (probably frozen, but lengthy, crisp and fluffy) are included. No onions, no rye, but lettuce and tomato-- a non-traditional configuration. Nicely browned patties that had juiciness. The ingredients weren't anything to write home about, but the execution was great all around and so was the cheerful service from a seasoned veteran. Sure, I've had better with the proper rye, griddled onions, and higher quality beef, but an easy 4 stars for the execution, value, vibe, and being able to even order a patty melt before 10 in the morning. Bonus points for a plastic ketchup squeeze bottle that was slightly warm. Breakfast items (eggs, crispy home fries, and pancakes) on a neighboring table looked good.

We didnt mind. Our sever, Marie was extremely attentive and nice. South Street Diner is a small but not too small venue which serves breakfast all day. With my meal, I chose a mimosa, not just the regular prosecco and orange juice, but an apple pie mimosa made with swirls of caramel and topped with cinnamon. It was good. The food came out fast, portions were huge to where I could not eat it all, and it was delicious. I'm sure if in Boston again, I'll return.

As we walked in, we were met with the great aroma of coffee and baked goods. The place was very busy and there were a lot of staff moving around and customers having conversations or in line to order take out. We sat in a separate area downstairs and we were the only guests there. It was somewhat dark but it was private and there were bathrooms downstairs. We tried their tiramisu that was one of the bests I've ever tried. We also ordered their pistachio martini that was a super treat as it also had pistachio gelato. Their cappuccino made me want a second one. I am coming back to this place next time that I visit the North End!

The line does move very fast and Gicomo's has expanded to a second sitting area for more space. Ordered the fried calamari platter appetizer and fra diovolo with shrimp and scallops. The former was very very mediocre; it was fresh but the batter seemed soggy and the sauce was watery and weak. However, the fra diovolo was fantastic. Al dente noodles cooked to perfection and the scallops and shrimps were large, juicy, and tender. I'd recommend it for sure; it's one of those dishes you'll definitely be sopping the bread with the leftover sauce (which you should do anyway). Just FYI, it's not spicy at all. Honestly, Giacomo's was a bit disappointing, considering the hype. But I'd still want to come back, and I'm glad I tried it.
