OTC has a great vibe - located in the lower-level at 408 Main Street, you might miss this intimate…read morespeakeasy-style establishment of you're not ITK. Characterized by a vintner-curated menu of blended wines and cocktails, the dimly lit spot is warm and attractive. The interior is appointed with art work, shiplap and stone work. The communal tables add to the festive decore and allow for making new friends, especially on Christmas (during our visit). The owner, Steve, is a Sommelier by training and has mad skills. His space is welcoming and he's passionate about a great guest experience, often planning unique events like an oyster shucking master class, glass blowing workshops, candlemaking, and, of course, private wine tastings. Flanked by his Alaskan Husky and best friend, Bear, he'll spend time with patrons, make a solid drink recommendation and ensure a memorable visit.

They did NOT have a glass of wine available for less than $45 (+$20 cover). They have $30/glass on the menu but was out of stock according to the waitress. I also did not go to Sundance and am not here for that so his comment about being *out of my depth* is just dumb. I encourage you to look at the one star reviews of this place and see the owners' hostile, immature, and abrasive responses (others also note his blatant habit of lying). Stephen, book a therapy appointment. Original review below *********** There is a $20 cover charge to enter, and they were out of all of the cheapest ($30/glass) glasses of wine, so we were forced to get the next cheapest, a $45 glass of wine. Are you willing to spend $65 for a cheap glass of wine? They also only have five cocktails on the menu and you can't order anything else with liquor (I asked for a hot toddy cuz I'm freezing and they said no can do). The singer was good and the ambiance is nice; not very crowded. But overall, I would never pay $65/glass for mediocre wine unless I'm at an ultra luxury resort (which this is not).

We spent most of the time in the van and when we did stop at the locations, we weren't able to go inside to tour any of them or even use a bathroom at them, we just stood in the driveways to learn about them. I admire her passion for teaching, but we cannot for the life of us figure out how our $3000 was spent. The wine was limited to an ounce every time, and whenever we asked for a second "glass" the lady pouring would say "well we want to make sure everyone gets some!" - the "snacks" were two tiny pieces of cheese inside of a ziplock baggie and there is no place to use any restroom throughout the course of the entire tour... mainly because the tour takes place only in a van and standing in driveways. For $3000, a nice suggestion would've been a charcuterie spread INSIDE of one of the locations with some tastings and every person at that price should at the very least have been able to go home with a bottle of wine from the tour. I give her credit for starting up a creative business in an extremely competitive tourist city, but I can't in good faith allow anyone else to pay so much money to go into this expecting a luxury experience, and end up getting yelled at by a bus driver and having to sneak around an old hospital just to pee. I really liked her as a person and hope she can take this advice and use it to work on creating a better experience for all.

The artwork on the front is quite comical :) This is a nice sweet cherry honey wine that I thoroughly enjoyed! I also bought a few other wines that I'll have to try in the next little while. I'm excited! After years of searching, my fiancé finally found the perfect brandy. He had tears of joy in his eyes while he sipped on The Hive Winery's Raspberry Brandy. He can't wait to purchase the other flavors! Also, each bottle has a fun message on the back, so be sure to check that out. We had a pleasant experience here and all of the employees were fun to talk with. We'd love to come back for a wine tasting sometime. We will definitely be back and are happy to support this local business!

If you're unfamiliar with the significance of honey/beehives in Utah, do a little research-the metaphor of beehives dates back to our pioneer days. Utahns are industrious people. If you're more interested in traditional wines, this might not be for you. But it's fun to venture out and try something new. My friend and I scheduled a tasting to celebrate her birthday and each opted for a different menu-I did the wines, while she did the spirits. We would take a taste of each, then share, so we ended up really tasting ten different items. I enjoyed the Pioneer Red as well as one of the whiskeys-although I've forgotten the name of that one. I didn't care as much for the meads-those had a flavor that I didn't love as much. Our host, Michael, was friendly and not only explained what we were tasting but also carried on conversation with us, making us feel at home. He had a dry sense of humor, which I appreciate. Speaking of humor, there is an actual curtain that can be pulled across the bar/tasting area to partition the alcohol that's being consumed from the patrons in the gift shop (since minors could visit the shop with parents, I'd assume. We made sure to close it and get some pictures of the custom-made curtain that cheekily acknowledges the silly Utah liquor law. We asked if it would be possible to take a tour, but were told that they can't give tours-which I'm still confused about, because I've taken tours at other locations in the state. Maybe they are just extra cautious and don't want to do anything that could get them shut down. Or perhaps it has something to do with how their business is classified. The tasting menu changes each week, dependent on what new product they are putting out. It would be a fun way to check out the new inventory and pick something you'd like to take home. I know I will!

Nichole Rozier is absolutely the worst customer service rep I've ever come across. I ran a small business for decade and if anyone on my staff ever treated a customer the way she treated me, they'd be out on their ass that day. She is rude, she is insulting, she is contemptuous and thinks she's doing you a favor by entertaining your call. It's clear she never had to earn to live, because she'd be destitute if she did. She is the epitome of how struggling companies throw under-trained, unskilled workers into the fray and hope they can swim. They have no idea how they're hurting their business. Additionally all the items were supposed to be inspected by "OJ" who signed off on them on the boxes but whoever inspected them must have terrible eyesight because the racks were broken and some of the wood had staples in it and was just left free floating. The instructions they came were also for a different unit. The quality is terrible and they are so rickety. Their precision measurements were also off. My husband and I were so disappointed.

I was actually fairly impressed with the selection here compared to the other state run stores (so you know...all of them), but what I was NOT impressed with was the mislabeling. Every time I read the label/price tag for a bottle I was excited about (specifically because of the vintage/year), I would pick the actual bottle up to find out that the year was different than it should have been. I realize this doesn't seem like a big deal, but if you know much about wine, you know that the year DEFINITELY matters. Update your labels, please. The stores inventory is eclectic enough to find what you're looking for and the prices are pretty great! I bought two beautiful bottles of wine that came highly recommended for under $40 combined. Needless to say dinner, that evening was perfectly paired with a bottle of Sangiovese.
