We walked in after midnight and we're immediately welcomed and seated. We actually left the Rosedale location due to lack of attention. They really weren't that busy, but we came in there and had to wait for them to clean up a booth and seat us. We then sat down and after 5 minutes still hadn't even received a menu! So we left and then saw a positive review for the Merle Haggard store. So we went there. Our server, Jurnee, was awesome. The food was fresh and hot. We complained that it seemed cold, so she went and had the temperature adjusted a couple degrees for us. The bathroom was spotless! She brought out check in a timely manner. All was well. This has to be the WORST DENNY'S I have ever been to.!! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN BAKERSFIELD! The waitress clearly did not want to be there today. I sat down, asked for a cup of coffee and stated I was ready to order. She said just a minute VERY RUDELY! She walked away and proceeded to take the tables order next to me. They had arrived a few minutes after I did, so, clearly, I was not happy, being that I was on my lunch hour. I waited patiently, then after 5 minutes I got up, asked for the bill for my coffee. I was told it would be $4.50 I asked for a to go cup. The waitress poured the remaining coffee in the cup which only filled the 12oz cup not even halfway. I come here a lot and tonight we got Jessi as our waitress. Even with the AC being out and it being hot on top of her being pregnant, she was extremely attentive to our party and was in a great mood. The all-woman crew that night was outstanding ... gracious and welcoming, I wish I'd gotten their names! Even with a large group of six or seven next to us, our waitress was still quick, efficient and kind. She could tell we were weary Seniors and was an angel. I wasn't feeling well and needed directions to a Walgreen's or WalMart ... she stated she'd only lived there a short time herself but provided us with detailed instructions to the closest one. This Dennys was pretty empty at the time I went but there were tables near my party that needed to be cleaned but never was the entire hour. Anyway the food was typical nothing fabulous but nothing horrible. The Super Slam was 6.99 a pretty good price considering a meal at any fast food restaurant nowadays is about 10 dollars and up. This had enough food to feed me and my 2 year old so that was an even better deal. Their pancakes are always delicious, basic but always good, the syrup container is a bit ridiculous as I aged 4 months waiting for the syrup to come out and join the world. The service was fast and friendly. Only problem was someone in the party before us had unscrewed the pepper top and the entire contents of the shaker ended up on my sisters biscuits and gravy. She didnt complain though said its not the company's fault and really it's not. This was our favorite location. Not today! We were told that we would have a 15 min wait for food. No problem. That time seems normal. Well, after we got our drinks and ordered, we hoped to ask for straws. After a long wait, I got up to ask for them myself. Also, for coffee refills. Several times, I got up to ask for coffee refills. Our server never refilled my coffee even though I did flag her down. I grabbed Tabasco from another table and asked her for sugar free syrup. We got our food and then a little while later, she dropped off the check. I got up and asked for another coffee. It was cold, so I left it. We sat near the kitchen and we heard the cooks being asked to microwave some food. My husband thinks his burger was at the window for quite a bit, too. My food was well done. I had to tell our hostess about the ladies restroom being out of paper and needing the trash to be dumped. They did handle that quickly. We will be going to the Rosedale location if they feel like they are slammed because the service is usually spot on, but not today. read more
