We should be happier than this

Jemmie is a wonderful, courteous, kind waitress. Our family will definitely be back here again for late night dinner/breakfast maybe even lunch lol. The food was good, it's Dennys so the pancakes are always spot on. Sabrina, order the patty melt, with mashed potatoes. We each enjoyed our choices. We can see the harbor from the large open circular seating. I prefer this Dana Point location compared to our local ones !

This is a great place to have a nice quiet breakfast that's located close to the Harbor. The staff here is very attentive and always friendly.

Everything. The eggs were all we needed. Everything outdid our expectations the experience was fabulous. Would 100% recommend.

We stopped here from the Sawdust Art Festival before driving home because we got the munchies! This Denny's was different from any others we've visited. It definitely had the retro diner vibe. When we arrived we didn't wait too long before we were seated in a booth. Our server came out with the menus and gave us a few minutes to peruse the offerings. We hadn't been to a Denny's in years and we were surprised at how extensive the menu was. We opted to order from the 55+ menu. He chose the scrambled egg with cheese and I ordered the starter meal. Both plates came out hot and both were very tasty. I ordered the gluten free English muffin and although it was buttered it did not taste appetizing and the 2 pieces of bacon were tiny. Everything else was very satisfying. Our server was a man of few words but he was friendly and very attentive. We noticed he was pretty busy bussing as well. The coffee was very good and our meals really hit the spot. This diner does outdoor seating on the street side! It's very clean and bright. The restroom was also clean. This was a great spot to settle our cravings and we would not hesitate to return.

The cold coffee
Lucas C.

The food here is always delicious, whatever the chef is doing back there he needs to keep it up. The coffee this time was unfortunately very cold and we did not get very good service. I feel like the service here is lackluster but the ambiance and location somewhat make up for it. If it wasn't for the location I probably would be turned away by the cold coffee and not attentive employees. Other than that I usually have a great time here. Just wish it was a little more friendly.

Super friendly staff. Nice patio. Can be loud at times but surprisingly pleasant despite the proximity to PCH.

Service sucks. It's a small place, with only one waitress. We're getting hangry, and we're having to ask for EVERYTHING.

We decided to go check them out since we have dined at Molly's Country Kitchen in Laguna Niguel but not the Mollies San Juan. We were lost for a bit and called the restaurant and they sent someone out looking for us in the parking lot. That was so nice of them. Hubby of course, ordered the meat loaf dinner and I went with the chicken marsala (with raisins and mushrooms) as suggested by the server. We also had a cup of soup each. I had the French onion soup. The soup came lukewarm, so I sent it back. It came back out hotter and tasted so much better. My husband had the turkey rice soup and it was delicious (I had a taste of it while waiting for mine to be reheated). Chicken marsala was good, however, the sauce was salty. The breakfast potatoes that came with it was good, as well as the steamed vegetables. My husband liked his meatloaf dinner and the mashed potatoes. He said the gravy was a bit salty but not too bad. Would have been 5-star if the sauce wasn't too salty. Service was good. They have many employees in the restaurant so they checked on us often. I believe it's a family-owned restaurant.

The place has a lively atmosphere that teenagers would enjoy a lot, and I saw so many teenagers there that day. They were taking pictures by the water, laughing together, and fitting into the environment so naturally that it made the whole restaurant feel even more vibrant. The marina view looked almost like a postcard, and teenagers especially seemed to love taking photos with the boats in the background, which made the place feel even more fun and creative. It was my first time visiting Proud Mary's, and I did not realize how much there was to enjoy until I walked around and took in the whole scene. I really appreciated how easy it was to have a good time there without feeling rushed. The staff kept everything moving smoothly, and the upbeat energy made the experience feel even better than I expected. I never doubted that the visit would turn out the way I hoped it would, and it honestly ended up being one of the most refreshing places I have been to in a long time. I have only visited Proud Mary's one time in my life before making this review, but it left a strong impression on me. The combination of the waterfront view, the friendly atmosphere, and the playful energy from all the teenagers around made it feel like a place that understands how to make people feel comfortable and inspired. I would highly recommend that teenagers go there because it gives them a space to relax, take pictures, enjoy the scenery, and feel creative.

Tasted like bad flour gravy with little to no potatoes or clams. Don't order this. My Cesar salad came with chicken, anchovies, croutons, and like 4 cherry tomatoes. The anchovies were whole and there were 3. I like that they asked if I wanted them (I did) but I wish they were chopped up instead of whole. The cheese on the salad was hard like it had been sitting out and the chicken seemed like it was some cheap breast defrosted. They could have grilled the chicken, had fresh black pepper to make it a lot better. The French fries on my son's plate were honestly sad looking. Cold and soggy. My husband ordered fish tacos and chili and admitted he's had better meals in his life. We drove pretty far to try this place and honestly wish we went next door for better food. Service was ok, our soups came out before we got our drinks, which I didn't like. The food is super overpriced for the quality. The best part was the view.... Hence the second star. I won't go back.

We had a party of three right about 11 AM and the restaurant was busy but not crazy. We needed a handicap accessible table for my sister and there wasn't one available, but they were so kind and moved things around to accommodate us quickly. This was really appreciated, especially on a busy Mother's Day. The service deserves more stars than five. Everyone we encountered from the host, our server, the food runners, etc. were warm, friendly and genuine. The owner Jacqueline came over to greet us, took our drink orders and checked on us. Our server was phenomenal and he made sure that we had everything we needed and made helpful recommendations. Our coffee and waters were never empty and our food orders came out very quickly. Again, this was a busy Sunday brunch on Mother's Day. I've been here many times because I live around the corner, but it was both of my sister's first time and the food did not disappoint. Everything I've had here is delicious. This time we got the Swedish Pancakes, which is their how special and comes with lingonberry butter, and I highly recommend you get one for the table to share. I got the Huevos Rancheros which came with their really yummy Hash browns. My sister got the California Omelette and said it was delicious. I cannot recommend this place enough! Immediately comforting. Felt chosen by the mug--mine was a Hersheys s'mores cup :) My date (who is aight... possibly good... TBD... also over a foot taller than me) confidently interjected when I was reviewing the menu for the nth time: "Anything with the ranchero sauce really good." This comment completely derailed my order decision-making process, but in a way that felt supportive, if not academically rigorous, maybe even data driven. So I ordered something with ranchero sauce. I asked if they had spicy tanchero sauce bc my dish came with mild ranchero sauce, our server with kind eyes asks me "you want salsas on the sides?" I heard angels singing, the clouds parted to let the sun through. I LOVE SALSAS Then he says these magical words "the salsas' spice levels kind of vary daily, depends on the day" :') THEY MAKE SALSAS IN HOUSE?!!! The food is honest. The salsa is abundant. S.C CAFE @ SAN CLEMENTE…read more Parking can be a little difficult since they only have a very small parking lot with maybe four or five spots available, so most people will probably end up parking on the street. My boyfriend and I got lucky and managed to grab a spot after driving by for a bit. I was really excited to try this place because I love small breakfast diners, and I usually go to Surfin Donuts right across the street, which has some of the best donuts. We came here on a Saturday morning around 10 AM, and the place was busy but still really cozy. There are only a couple tables inside along with some outdoor seating, but luckily we were able to get seated right away without a wait. The staff were also extremely friendly and welcoming. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with two eggs and sausage, while my boyfriend got an omelet with a Mexican-style sauce. Overall, I liked the food, but I do think the biscuits and gravy could've been a little better. The gravy itself was delicious, and the eggs were cooked perfectly, but the biscuits felt a little too dry for my liking. I also thought the sausages were pretty dry and maybe a bit overcooked. The potatoes though were super flavorful and definitely one of my favorite parts of the meal. What really stood out to me was the ambiance. The whole place feels super nostalgic and homey. They even bring out an actual paper check at the end, which made it feel like stepping back into an old-school diner from decades ago. Overall, I'd definitely come back because I loved the atmosphere so much, but next time I'd probably try something sweeter instead of going the savory route.
