My girl and I went here yesterday for breakfast and beer. Was seated promptly, then forgotten. Almost had to beg for a beer. Got my beer, and nothing else. Not even water. Placed our order, but I dont think it made it to the back. Other patrons that came in after us were already enjoying their meal when when I finally caught Hector, our server for my beer. ABSOLUTE WORST DENNYS. Arrived at 11:45 P.M and the lobby wasn't staffed. Waited to be seated for 15 minutes when there was only 2 tables of customers there at the time. So saying that they were not busy at all. Then when my wife and I finally got seated it took one of the waiters 20 minutes to ask us what we wanted to drink. By that time we both ordered our drinks and food. Waiter then comes back 10 minutes later with our drinks. It being sorta late I ordered a coffee to stay awake but yet they failed again. The coffee was cold and tasted like it had been sitting out on a counter top for over 3 hours. One word stale. The food was hot but when it came but my biscuits were hard as a rock so I was let down there as well. I'm so disappointed in this visit and will probably never go to another Denny's again. Sorry to all the other chain owners but this one ruined it for me :( Just terrible all around. Maybe the owner should visit every once in a while. read more

What a hit or miss place. Problems with staff and food. Staff~ always new and poorly trained servers. It's a management problem. Went last week around 9 pm. Ordered dinner with salad and vegetable. One other table in restaurant and they were just leaving. Server spent entire time in kitchen laughing and screwing around. Never once stopped kidding with the cooks to explain why no food after 20 minutes. Finally got up went to kitchen area to hail her. Still no one in restaurant. She said it was coming " in s minute". 10 minutes later here's my salad and entree all at once. When I asked her what was going on she explained she spaced out bringing the salad and the cooks didn't get the order right and that she is part of a team... blah blah blah. The cook /manager came over I gave him $5 for the half garden salad I ate and $5 for his "new" and untrained server. Never took one bite of the over cooked and now cold entree. If you want laughing hyenas go see the Lion King if you want a meal skip this place. read more

Very pleasant visit on Sunday after church. We were seated right away and our server Hector was amazing. He was able to memorize our order and was brought to us very quickly. Pleasantly surprised! Slept in on a mom/daughter day but she still wanted breakfast....stopped in at Denny's (super busy!) It was packed but clean....seated quickly. Manager took our drink orders immediately...waiter to table with in minutes. Food on table in 15 min! It was delicious! Def recommend the cinnamon roll pancakes!!! Way to go Denny's!!! read more

My family and I come here on a somewhat regular basis and I won't be back after our recent visit. I'm recently having to eat gluten free so I ordered my burger lettuce wrapped. It was completely INEDIBLE. There was so much grease on the plate that the lettuce turned completely brown and my fries got soaked in grease. The lettuce was not washed and had holes from pests eating it. The burger was barely cooked enough and leaked so much grease I took one bite and wanted to vomit. The sever did not seem to care one but when complaining and just offered to bring more lettuce. So gross. read more

I walked into this establishment with high confidence because I am NEVER dissatisfied with Denny's, abroad the nation! I went in to find the podium empty, with the host/hostess missing. So I waited... and waited... and waited some more but no one came. I went to the restroom to help ease my frustration and kill some time, and when I returned to the main hall I found the busser waiting for me, a very friendly and helpful older gentleman. He seated me, followed by a very friendly waitress, and even the manager came out to greet me! I was feeling anxious to enjoy my meal!... Unfortunately my smile was to depart; the waitress' service was first day amateur, the cook messed up my order, the waitress tried to make me pay for their mistake, & when I asked her to bring me water she completely forgot to give it to me! This is the absolute worst Denny's that I have dined in, without a doubt! The only reason why I didn't give this place 1 star is because of the busser. read more

Dont come in on NYE for morning breakfast! Clumsy waitors, plus too many people!!! The good thing about this place is that the dirty dishes were picked up very quickly! This Dennys is designed more like a diner than a restaurant. The place wasnt bad but their menus were so dirty they were crawling with bacteria....I wonder if they are ever cleaned? Head are here previously so stopped to eat lunch on our way to Disneyland. Immediately after being sat down I put my purse down and told my family I was going to use the rest room. Just got inside a stall and I heard a Hispanic man say ,"Service". I responded with ,"someone in here." To which he said, "service" again. I said quite loudly, "someone is in here... Wait!" I then heard him call for Jessica, a female employee and someone entered the bathroom. I thought maybe he sent her instead by then when I stepped out to wash hands she was near paper towels doing nothing and someone was in back stall rustling a garbage sack. He then walked into main part of the bathroom and I told her I was not ok with him being in there. At first she said he was just getting the garbage( I don't care... no tolerance for a male employee!). She then backtracked and said he didn't hear me, which I explained was not the case, besides he called for her for a reason. It looks like their policy is to announce coming in but if a woman responds to call a female and come on in. I understand this transgender debate but a man employee coming in just to empty s garbage when I was only going to take 5 minutes... UNACCEPTABLE! On top of that, the hostess and manager were not very understanding or apologetic. My husband who was seated near the hostess stand heard me, grabbed my purse and we headed out the door and took our business elsewhere. Beware! Stand up for what is right... I will be reporting this to corporate as well. If you experience anything like this report and make them change their protocol. The Hispanic worker heard me, he saw the stall closed. This Denny's location is the best I've seen. Everything is excellent quality. Their scrambled eggs are the only ones I like because they're always cooked just perfect and never overdone. Hash browns are tasty and crisp and I love their French toast. Even their coffee is good and I'm picky about restaurant coffee. Best of all is their service; always on top of drink refills and they check back often to ask if you need anything. Another plus is the ladies room is clean! Smallest Denny's I've ever been to. The circular layout was just strange. This Denny's is located at the intersection of Coast Highway & Dana Point Harbor. Service was friendly & quick despite it being midnight. Our waters & coffee were refilled without us having a chance to ask. I ordered the Belgian Slam breakfast which came with a big belgian waffle, 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon & 2 sausages. I have to say that this breakfast meal was underwhelming & lacking in taste all around. The waffle was fluffy but was bland despite me drowning it in syrup & lathering it in the provided whipped butter. The bacon was probably the tastiest part of the meal. The sausages were not to my liking. They just tasted funny. I ate one & just left the other. The eggs I got scrambled were ok. Standard stuff. They need to either change up the recipes or makeover this Denny's. Hopefully both. Staff was very helpful. No complaints at all. read more

The food is the food. It's the same quality you'd expect at any Denny's, no complaints here. However this location is unique. The Dining area is small and arranged in a circle. There are no tables and chairs, just booths. In the middle of the circle there is a semi-circle counter with stools. This location is not good for groups with more than 4 people. read more

Denny's - that American of breakfast eateries known for dishes such as the "Grand Slam" and "Moons over My Hammy". The late night bastion of after-prom. This particular location is billed as a "classic diner", whatever that means. Although after visiting here it must mean "small with no parking and overworked wait staff." Denny's is often a welcome stop for me. If nothing else tickles my fancy, a good Grand Slam breakfast (a variation of it) will often hit the spot. This particular restaurant did a little less than that. The taste of the bacon and sausage didn't have the flavor that other Denny's has. I don't know if they all buy from the same provider or not - but it was different. I missed the condiments. Strawberry preserve for the toast, for example. Denny's is still Denny's - quick, affordable. I might come back again if I'm in this area. But it most likely will not be on my "to do" list when I next visit Dana Point. read more

New Hobbit themed meals seem like a nice change from typical menu items. I like this restaurant. I can't say a whole lot more even though I see complaints. The food was quick, hot and Denny's quality (by that I mean it could be better but I have never seen 'bad' at Denny's). The server spoke English well and was very informative regarding the Hobbit meals. She refilled my coffee twice and inquired about a third time. The check was manageable, quick and easy. They do however lose one star because the building is old, it's 'dated' if you will. In the Orange County area that means a lot for some reason. It is on par with the other restaurants in the area it could just use some cosmetic upgrades. read more

You BEST BACK UP and really get ready to have some knowledge dropped. My friends and I hit this joint up practically every Sunday night. As my girlfriend put it, you'd literally have to TRY to have a bad time in order to have a less then positive experience. A simple mishap with our drinks led to us making unforgettable friends with the staff, and hilarious conversations to boot. They've always welcomed us with smiles, pep, and great service. One rude customer came up to us once and told us we were better off going somewhere else because she needed to wait a bit too long for her food. We were quick to ignore her, and despite her attitude, the staff still gave us their pepped up and inviting welcome. Now, let's just remember, it's a restaurant, so the food needs a review too, right? Now, I'm no Gordon Ramsey. I'm barely able to fetch a glass of water without burning myself somehow. But I've sampled numerous items from their menu. Whether it's the mozzarella cheese sticks (which have ALWAYS been 85% stolen by my friends from me), to their Grand Slamwich (My favorite breakfast item), everything we've had there was delicious and brought to us quick. I recently discovered the great taste of adding a shot of vanilla flavoring to orange Fanta, and whenever we show up, they know just what we enjoy. It's delicious! I've never received my food from here and thought, "Whoa, this ain't for me..." All in all, this is a great family restaurant. And for a place that gets hit with some... unsavory characters that wander around the area, and despite being open 24/7, Denny's at Dana Point has always been clean, and the staff polite and inviting. The restaurant's layout is great too, with some awesome decor, including an autograph from John Travolta. I'm glad to call them my friends, and always look forward to ending a ,long work week with friends at their tables, enjoying the great food, and chatting away with their staff. I have food allergies and asked the server to put all my salad toppings on the side. The server looked at me like I was disgusting her and wasting her time. I asked about another item on the menu and she could hardly be bothered to check or anything. So I was very upset by this treatment but decided to stay for the benefit of my party.
