Was running errands one day and stopped by Dennys in East Brunswick to scratch an itch. I used to come here all the time when I was a kid and the food is still more or less the same with some different specials. Loved that they currently have a value menu with smaller portions. I used to be able to crush a two piece country fried steak dinner but my appetite has gone doen since I've gotten older lol. They now have a one piece meal with two sides and garlic bread for $9. Cheaper and arguably better food than fast food! The nachos were always a favorite of mine and they do half portions too. I came for lunch and it wasn't too busy so service was perfectly fine. I actually came here again and ordered the same meal a week later. Dennys is nostalgic to me and food remains decent for the price. read more

Dennys in East Brunswick Pictures is the Zesty Nachos. Came to Denny's after a concert around 10:30pm. Very empty for a Saturday night, so no wait! Food was quick to come and the server was very polite and nice. The nachos were good for a starter meal. It honestly was filling enough that I didn't need an actual meal after. The meat used was very watery tho, and the nachos themselves very quickly got soggy. Everything together was a nice combo of flavors. The meal is a very messy meal so be careful. There is a bit of a spice to the meal but nothing bad where you can't eat it. Price was really cheap for the quality you do get, just wished it was not as watery is all. read more

Is there really any remaining mystery surrounding Denny's? You're going to get a passable meal in fairly short order and you may upon sitting, put your hands down on a still vaguely wet table. The food will come, you'll consume it and depart, with the entire experience leaving no discernible imprint on your mood or well being whatsoever. And in the not too distant future when you are traveling more than ten miles from your home you'll see a yellow sign calling out to you, you'll enter and start the entire cycle all over again. Had the best meal here Saturday Night! I had the Wild Caught Salmon from the Senior Menu for $10.79. I had salad with ranch dressing and mashed potatoes. Everything was excellent. My daughter had Grilled Cheese off the $8.00 menu with a salad and ranch dressing. She said it was the best grilled cheese she ever had and it was really big. For dessert we shared the Stuffed French Toast which was filled a vanilla creamy cheese filling and topped with strawberries and sauce. OMG it was decadent and delicious with 4 pieces of Brioche French toast and it was $7.99 as an ala carte item. I have the App and I had a coupon for 20% off. The whole bill including tip was @$28.00. The server was very nice and fast too. We will be back and often. Also, if you are 55 and over and have an AARP Card, you can show it at checkout and receive 15% off your bill. Great food! New owner, newly redecorated. Service was excellent. Our server came by many times to check on us. Spoke to the owner as we paid and I told him we definitely noticed the changes! I placed an order for pick up at this location. After I received a notification that my order was ready, I went to pick it up. Upon getting there, I was asked twice what I needed and told them I was picking up an order. After waiting an additional 20 mins for my order, I then asked again where my order was and was then given an attitude by the staff. One of the waitresses was particularly rude and making snide comments in the kitchen area where customers can hear her. I will NOT be ordering from here again! We generally like Denny's, however, today we had the worst waitress ever & made for a bad dining experience. The food, when it finally came, was good. But my husband ordered all you can eat pancakes & the 2nd batch of 2 pancakes took 20 minutes. So when he was finished with them, she disappeared...apparently 5 is all you can eat because we didn't want to wait another 20 minutes. Food was great , service was ok. I visited this Denny's on a snow day around 11 am. The establishment was empty with only about six tables being occupied. Our server was kind and engaged in conversation. Our order was taken quickly but for an empty restaurant, our food took a while to be prepared. Maybe they were low on cooks because of the snow ? While eating, the server informed us that they were closing and no other guest were going to be allowed in. Why did we need to know that when we already ordered? No idea. After eating, we waited and waited and waited for our check. Considering there was not a lot of staff, I have sympathy and gave four stars. The wait would not steer me from coming back here again. Have been going here for years. Have gone a few times in the last few months and I don't know what the deal is, the place is always empty. The service is slow, I will say that. Tonight the waiter forgot to bring my water 2 times after he came to the table. He had to be reminded. No one was there, a few other tables but not busy. I think he was training someone or someone was training him, either way, bad idea. Food is typical. Eggs were kind of over cooked, but that was my fault, I should have said to cook them less. I haven't been to a Denny's in a long time, and I still have good memories of my visits and this is no exception. Place was big, airy and clean. Wait staff was busy but did stop by to take order and the wait time to get food was pretty good. The nachos were thin, crispy and topped with ground meat, a huge dollop of sour cream and salsa throughout with some melted cheese!Though fast food, it was tasty and hit the spot! The strawberry pancake puppies were a little dark, beyond golden but they were crispy when eaten fresh and had a nice icing on the side that you could dip them. They really did remind me of hush puppies but the sweet, dessert kind. There were little bits of strawberries throughout! I didn't think I was going to enjoy them but I really did and had three of these yummy puppies! No oily taste either! These are fried, so better eat fresh. Our waitress even came and gave us take out trays and a small container that had icing for the remaining puppies. They come in two sizes and we had the six pieces! There was one waitress covering all the people who came in my receipt says Arielle S, and she was wonderful. But the lack of staff is the problem. They got the sides ready and sitting there until the meat was cooked, and I had to ask our waitress to take it back to heat it all the way through. She handled everything wonderfully, guggling everyones orders herself. I think there needs to be more people working there. Also the sirloin steak I had, had strings of fat going all the way though the meat, so it was hard to cut, hard to chew, and some i just couldnt chew enough to swallow it. Our service was fast, but I found our server had a slight attitude when taking our order! The food was fairly good. I got the cinnamon roll pancakes. The pancakes were good, but I found they were more like cinnamon sugar, than cinnamon roll, and they were very sweet! The chocolate milk I ordered was good, but it tasted like they made it with one of those non-dairy milks which I am not a fan of! The food did come out quickly! I got the cheesy omelette breakfast . Nothing special cheese omelette toast and hashbrowns. The hashbrowns are crunchy and delicious hits the spot when having breakfast. Zero stars for the (lack of ) service. One star for air conditioning. I walked in and I usually take one of the six counter spots open, two spots are off to the left side and slightly lower. I normally sit in the group of four. They were full so I waited about eight minutes. They four on the right cleared out and I sat down to a spot that wasn't bussed and had a few bucks tip money, a coffee cup and some creamers. None of them were bussed when I sat down. The other three spots? Not only were they quickly cleared, someone sat down, got a menu and ordered. Then the various employees proceeded to chat with the guy. They also grabbed the salt and pepper shakers immediately to my right during my extended wait. After 10 minutes I made my displeasure known and walked out. I may have looked like someone they refused service before as that's always possible, otherwise, this is inexcusable and I won't be back. Besides, if they can't get something this simple right, there's less reason to trust their food. I won't hold my breath waiting for an explanation or expect someone to try to make it up to me, there are too many places that deserve my support. They've lost mine. read more

I had the grand slam breakfast to start my birthday with the intention of getting dessert and the pancakes did me in. They were filling and much better than IHOP pancakes. Everything was going pretty well until my waitress disappeared. I waited for a simple coffee refill for over 25 minutes before I saw her at a distance to lock eyes with. Had breakfast at this location with my son this morning. Should have gone to McDonald's. Our server came over right away and had a trainee with her. We're attentive in the beginning but after the order was taken we saw them with the food delivery, when I had an issue and bring the bill. Here were today's issues (yes I know I'm always complaining but if it's wrong, it's wrong). Ordered hot tea and received a 1/2 cup of hot water versus a full cup. Ordered eggs in the basket meal and the eggs were fried solid and the bread had grill dirt on it. Sent it back and they brought my bacon cheese hash browns and bacon back, eggs came later. Hash browns were cold and hard and saturated with that fake cooking oil that's used that tastes funny. New eggs in basket arrived and they were hot and better but cook needs to understand that the dish is supposed to have eggs cooked so the whites done but their plenty of yolk for dipping. Son's chocolate chip pancakes were ok but a little crisp. Hash browns were also saturated in the oil that it changed the taste completely. Bacon on both orders were crisp but so thin you can see through it. Waitress and trainee never came to the table to check if all was ok or offer us beverage refills or up sell us additional items. This Denny's used to be good but has been declining over time from bad to worse. It's hard to find good help but try harder to get people and pay them for their talents. Since I don't go drinking at night and going to Denny's for drunk breakfast; probably won't see me again. read more

I always liked Denny's for breakfast, but the new owner renovated the place except for the handicap women's bathroom. He refuses to install bars in the handicap stall. I've complained several times, but he doesn't care enough to do something about it. I'm in a wheelchair, and the toilet is so close to the wall I can't use it, and there are no bars to hold onto. Good value for what it is and that's a chain diner that markets itself well nationwide. Many aspects in life require expectation modification. I typically go to a buffet looking for quantity over quality, the mall provides tons of stores albeit minimal high end designers, blind date with your grandma's friends niece and a a meal at a chain. Denny's has all the normal diner fair on a lesser quality scale, but the prices are consistency affordable and the food rarely varies in delivery from chain to chain. I have to admit my last 4 visits involved friends or me enjoining the free breakfast slam. $7 but FREE for the B-dayer includes 2 eggs cooked your way,2 bacon, 2 sausage links & 2 pancakes (coffee is extra boo). Yes they have all the basic lunch and dinner options priced well again, but I don't think I've dined on anything other then breakfast. So if breakfast is on you mind at any time go get your Denny's on especially if your B-day is or was within the last week. read more
