An advertisement that Denny's has states "score a free Grand slam - just for being born. You don't have to sign up for any emails". My dad went into Denny's on his bday and ordered a Grand Slam and stated it was birthday. The waitress claimed they no longer doing that. He showed her the advertisement which states the free grand slam. After going back and forth with the waitress for a while she said, "we'll do it this one time" as if she was doing my dad a favor. Her attitude was rude and when she brought out the meal she said, "well something is better than nothing". Her customer service skills were lacking to say the least and her attitude was completely unnecessary. I don't know if all Denny's locations treat their customers with such disrespect but this location in Gilroy certainly does. Needless to say we will not visit this location again. read more

One of my favorite Denny around! The servers are fast and genuine even for 3 in the morning with tons of people. I go every weekend and they never fail to provide great service and care. I ordered the chicken biscuit & gravy bowl. Instead, I got 2 eggs over hard and burnt at the bottom, biscuits as stale as a rock I can't stab with my fork, and instead of gravy, they gave me a tortilla. They also gave me a handfuls worth of dried out hashbrowns for $5. read more

We came to Denny's to have breakfast and because it's known for its quick and consistent service. We sat at the the bar fir quickness and NO ONE even asked if wanted anything to drink. We asked for our waitress and we got doey eyed waitress that took our order and forgot about us. She was to busy gossiping with the other waitress. Everyone was gathered at the counter but no food was flowing. They were getting so confused on how the kitchen flowed. People left because the service was so bad and had been waiting for over an hour. We never checked on or told anything was wrong just ignored. We went to have a birthday lunch in the Gilroy location today and they were not busy at all. We waited about 30 minutes to be acknowledged and they only came to us because a customer who came after us went to them to get their attention. I politely told them we had been waiting awhile and her response was yea I know i hadn't gotten to you yet. They finally sat us down along with all the other customers who showed up after us. We were the last people to get our order in. We waited over an hour and 10 minutes to finally get our order. When it came we had no silverware which I had to ask for them. When I went to eat I seen something on my bread. I told the server and he said it was butter!!! I told him it was mold. He than said let me get you some more bread. He didn't even offer to take it back for a fresh plate since my eggs were next to the mold. I asked him to take the whole thing back and give me my check. Very unsatisfied with there service. How is this restaurant still open? They made us wait for 10 minutes while there is no people in the restaurant. They forgot to tell us that basically had nothing in the menu. My goddaughter ordered a chicken Alfredo . No pasta. And no chicken. So then she decided to order a breakfast plate and a side of Apple dunkers. NO apples. Insane . Basically they have no chicken and we are forced to eat red meat.We should of just walk away. While I don't blame the waitress, management should get their act together. Had one of the weirdest visits, service was horrible , food was over salted and we complained about the t bone steak being over salted and the waitress Alondra (big Mexican girl) just walked away and didn't say anything and came back with the receipt about 5 minutes later, she dipped her thumb in the ranch while trying to set it down on the table and didn't offer a new one, didn't offer to go boxes , just horrible service , recommend to find another restaurant if you're looking for a pleasant diner. read more

One party in front of us, 2 people when we walked in, they said they had been ignored for several minutes at the host station. Went to register and after waiting 10 minutes was asked what we wanted. Said a table for 4, mind you, while we were waiting we there was a table waiting to pay for several minutes as well, and it was a table of 4. People behind the counter would walk by waiting customers, then just go back behind the counter and fill syrup dispensers instead of helping people waiting... not sure but all employess wanted to ignore people and give attitude... When we finally did get helped the host/cashier pulled a 45 minute wait out of thin air. Needless to say we took our business elsewhere. I will bever go back, and though on our long drive there were plenty of Dennys, we choose to dine somewhere else tonight. Simple fixes would be. Acknowledge customers waiting, and if there is going to be a wait of more than a few minutes to even ask them for a party name or size, let the customer know. Went to try Dennys today with the kids for the kids eat free event. Food is always not that great but our kids wanted the milkshakes which are pretty decent. There was an event going on so why not? After finish eating, the bill came out along with my kids meals being charged. I asked the waitress I thought kids eat free? She said I don't think we have this event. I literally told her there's poster everywhere outside of Dennys. Afterwards she spoke to her coworker and came back to tell me I had to tell them beforehand and she can't change the reciept anymore. BS. I told her there wasn't any fine print stating I had to tell them beforehand. Anyways we paid for the bill along with 18% tip. I'm giving 5 stars to Amelia for saving the day, wonderful waitress and very sweet but deducting 3 stars for the food and overall experience. We stopped in on Friday 11-4-22 around 2:20. Took a long time to be acknowledged and find a clean table. Took even longer to take our order. We ordered coffee, a couple of Everyday Slams, a side of toast and a side of hash browns and coffee. I thought our order was NEVER going to get there. About 45 minutes later the guy brings it and I noticed the toast was stone cold so I asked for hot toast. We we dug into our meal it was stone cold....not luke warm but cold. After the long wait I was really disappointed and I knew our waiter wasn't coming back so I went up to the counter and let them know. Amelia came over and redid the orders in fast time. The bacon and sausage was still cold but we just accepted it. Amelia was super sweet and eagerly jumped in to fix things. We asked for her hours and because she was so amazing we'd like to give this another try and be seated at her table from the beginning. My husband and I actually like Dennys, especially for lunch. I'd line to point out the we live by the Morgan Hill Dennys but that location is so uncomfortable to eat in. It's freezing in winter the and hot in summer....this location has no concept of using the HVAC and the temperature is so awful it's miserable sitting thru a meal. Santa Clara Dennys is nice but the one in San Jose on Blossom Hill and the worst service on the planet. So, bottom line, the Gilroy location was warm, first impression not so good but Amelia was fantastic enough for us to try again soon. read more

I visited last night(sunday) and it was quite busy. And only two servers, a red hair girl and a really tall guy. We waited for about 20 minutes to be seated. Our server was the guy i believe his name was Ivan, he was very apologetic for the wait, and took our order. We were expecting our food to be late, but it was delivered in less than 15 minutes. It eventually arrives to the table after the rest of my party has finished eating there food and is missing 3 ingredients that are standard to the plate. I asked for no substitutions. Went there yesterday evening for dinner at the Gilroy restaurant. We waltzed in the door and saw the place was almost empty. We waited as as the sign requested. Everything went off the rails from there. There cashier was deeply involved with a party who were having a problem of some sort with their card. Fair enough, but she didn't even acknowledge us. Didn't even look up and nod. So we stood for a while, then sat down for a while. A long while. Did I mention the place was almost empty? About 4 or 5 other parties. Eventually a hostess (I guess) came over and fiddled around 2 ft from us. Still no greating, no acknowledgement, not even eye contact, we might have been invisible. We waited and waited. Finally we had had enough. We got up to leave and headed to the door. We got up to leave. Suddenly the hostess was right there! She noticed us! Too late! I told her we were going to Applebees. She told us they were just clearing the table. So we went down the street to Applebees. It was really good too. If someone had just looked towards us when we walked in, and just a couple times said something like "welcome" and "we'll be right with you" and possibly "we're getting your table right now", we probably would have stayed but evidently they're just too damned important for that. Waiting for more than 10 minutes for a server to take our order, were as the tables across from us had a waiter and promptly took their orders. We walked up to the kiosk to notify the manager and there she is talking to the host's about how to maintain a clean sidewalk. I think the manager should be walking around to make sure customers are being serviced. read more

They don't deserve any stars!! I was just here and the food and service was horribly disgusting!!! My bourbon chicken was half burnt, with barely any sauce on it, the breakfast sausages was cold, the toast was burnt, the decaf coffee was like water, so I asked for regular coffee and she brought me a cup with lipstick stains on it!!! Yuk!!! Never coming back here again!!! Not worth risking my health and catching something from this unsanitize place. Not to mention it's cold season with so many viruses going around... Asked for side of bacon, see disgraced bacon in photo. Roommate asked for no mushrooms, mushrooms on his plate. Had to ask for refills because waiter was overlooking everything. What. A. Shitshow. Someone else posted about the skillet handle... Hey, think we had the same one!!! Overall, this was a shitty experience. I came here last year and service was way more acceptable.
