I had the most uncomfortable experience at this Dennys location recently. And I am sorry, but I will never go to this location ever again. I ordered online and to begin with, my order was very poorly prepared, and it was wrong. I won't go into details, since I do not want to get upset again. But that wasn't the problem. We were treated like trash! And it definitely felt like we were not welcomed! This is what happened: We decided to dine in and the waiter told us we could not do that. Say what? I told him we had a change of plans and wanted to eat inside the restaurant. He said we could not do that! I said to him I had paid for our meals and we wanted to eat inside. The conversation turned confrontational and my partner said maybe we should just leave. We eventually sat down and ate as much as our food as we could, meaning the mash potato looked like apple sauce, etc. By then, the evening was ruined. Dennys' history of treating guests with indifference , and therefore poorly, is well known and documented. But to have a waiter not wanting us in the restaurant is truly terrible. How sad nothing has changed over the years. What is surprising they are still in business. read more

Normally everything's pretty smooth at the local Dennys, the waitress Anahi is great and very friendly and treats you like you're at home, BUT MAAAAAAN their cook/manager/ whoever he think he is, Mr. Chazz will be heard yelling at his workers for his mistakes and giving them attitude. He forgot my food and then proceeded to give the notion he didn't care and it was going to come whenever it was time, even though my tables food had been served 25 minutes prior. She went above and beyond to explain menu items, what was good, what was her favorites, and oaid special attention to our kids who are special needs by making smiley faces on their foods and shakes. There are other 24/7 diners in San Diego and here I was with a friend! Definitely not my go-to place to eat but it really filled my hungry belly. I've tried Denny's over the years and do enjoy their "Moons Over My Hammy" and waffles. I especially love their nachos. I always come back for their nachos. This location is not bad. Maybe I am lucky that I go during times when there is not much crowd. The staff is alright. I must say that their utensils need some more cleaning although this doesn't phase me much because eh, I expect it. I wasn't pleased with how my water glass smelled though. So just be cautious about the utensils and such and make sure they are clean. Anyway, I love their nachos with lots and lots of sour cream! They do give you a generous scoop. What can I say. We first headed to the Denny's located on Sweetwater Rd & 805 freeway around 3:45 am. Once we entered- the gal told us "We're closed. Our cook is on break & we don't have anybody at the grill." Just our luck! So, here we arrived at the location on Mile of Cars & 5 freeway. Parking lot was packed w/ lots of customers inside. We got here before 4 am. For the amount of customers patronizing this location into the wee hours of morning- Jesus, our server- was just as courteous, patient, & always made himself available to us. We never felt rushed. My kind of service. He always greeted us each & every time he approached our table w/ a friendly smile. Even addressed us as Sir & Ma'am. This is why I love to ask our staff what their names are- if they're not wearing name tags. I like to address them by their names. It just makes the experience more personal. We couldn't sleep- so it was time to fill our hungry bellies. And Denny's didn't disappoint. Thank goodness for 24 hour diners! Coffee was piping hot & fresh roasted. Typical choices- either 2 sausage links or strips of bacon. I got the 2 links & a side of 4 bacon strips. - That's where I think I over did it. I should've got the side of 2 bacon strips. Options! Hash browns were a great portion & cooked right. Not too greasy. And my eggs- over easy as always. The entire meal was just what I needed to finish off my 6 day work week. I really wish I could've finished both pancakes of. But- I just never do. lol I normally order plain pancakes when I'm in the mood for it. I was recently staying over by the interstate and when I googled where the nearest Denny's was it showed me it was right next to the In & Out Burger. That was the first plus for me being that I'm a "locator" by objects/landmarks so, yeah. Then I walked in and was instantly greeted by the hostess. She was kind and vibrant and she took the time to listen to my order. She even wrote notes on the side for the condiments that I was requesting. I love Denny's but this is one of the worst I've been to. It took them about 15 minutes to seat us when the restaurant was empty and they had plenty of servers. The food was really good... after my order was fixed(they gave me the wrong order at first). There was also a dead fly in my drink... Their restroom was pretty clean. So that was a plus. We had dropped off our car for service on the Mile of Cars one Saturday morning, and needed somewhere to hang out for the 90 minutes or so that they'd be working on it. Neither of us wanted to stick around the waiting room, so we set off down the street in search of a good place for breakfast. We stopped here, instead. They get one star for being quick with the service, and one star for the amount of food. Quality of food, quality of service, friendliness of wait staff, cleanliness of table...I'm deducting for all those things. Our waitress had a chip on her shoulder that morning. Our "good morning" was met with a stony stare and silence, and we barely got a grunt out of her after placing our orders. I went with the Grand Slam breakfast, which I normally would never do (I don't typically order items that I can make at home), but as I have an aversion to sweet and/or gimmicky pancakes, my choices were limited. My husband went with the chicken fried steak and eggs, and we both asked for coffee to round out the meal. The food came out pretty quickly, and there was a lot of it. But I'm not one to be easily placated by amount of food, if the quality is lacking. I had asked that both the hash browns and bacon be cooked to "well done", or, to have them be crispy on both sides. Nope. The eggs were already cold by the time the plate got to us, which made the cheesy concoction on my plate a mess. My husband enjoyed his breakfast a great deal more, which makes up a bit for how underwhelmed I was with my meal. He said that they cooked the chicken fried steak well enough, and he had no trouble finishing off his plate. We had to wait around for the check, and our waitress never came back.
