The food service is terrible. After waiting to be seated in a half filled restaurant. We had to wait till the manager noticed that we hadn't been served to get us our drinks. After that we waited forever our waiter who was no where to be seen we finally got our order. Then we finally got our skillets, which were barely warm and she left without giving us utensils. Then she started to serve the other table and I tried to get her attention but she just glared at me and said "I deal with you guys later." She eventually came to our table and I, after staring at my food with nothing to eat it with, told her we didn't have utensils. She said "shit" walked to another table and got us utensils from there. Been going to Denny's restaurants all over the western US. Some good, some bad. Right now this one falls into the latter category. Service was mediocre and food preparation was substandard. The wait staff needs more enthusiasm and knowledge of what's in the restaurant. We asked for a little bowl for the baby's cereal, they did not know if they had one, said they were short of dishes. They did find a small bowl. I ordered a Baja Cesadilla burger. First, it came out in a BOWL instead of a plate. Second, the tortilla was cold, it's supposed to be grilled a little crisp. They did remake the burger, it was marginally better. I will try this restaurant one more time in a couple of months. Both the wait staff and kitchen NEED to be trained better. Today we had a horrible experience there this late morning 10/17/16. First we had to wait and wait to be seated with many seats available by a too busy host that could have said "sit where you like" but didn't and made us wait longer. After several minutes Finally! We get seated. The server "Leslie" proceeds to give us great service all the way around! No issues there. Food was good, but honestly expensive considering all. BUT! Stay away!!! They don't care about you're safety. I should have checked the previous reviews first. After trekking around Yosemite, all I wanted was a good meal and some rest. We were staying in Oakhurst so we had limited choices. My family decided to go to a familiar place so we went to Dennys. 1. It took a while to be seated eventhough there were plenty of empty tables. 2. The workers were apparently understaffed and cut hours so they didnt expect the influx of customers when we came 3. The menu prices were blacked out because they were changing prices and its ok since the waitresses knew the prices. That should have been a red flag. 4. My son ordered a strawberry shake. It came with something a little extra, at the bottom of the shake was a plastic cover that was mixed in the shake. I asked the manager what he thougth about it and what he would do if it happened to his own kid, but he replied that he doesn't know. He came back with the plastic lid to show that most of it was still intact and that they wouldn't charge me for the shake. No one even asked how my son was. Came in at eight o'clock on a Monday morning to find one woman working as both host and server. We got our drinks rather quick and the woman was nice, but it quickly went downhill from there. A few more servers came in, but they meandered about and were slow to help anyone or bus any tables while the one woman ran around. Our order of loaded tots was punched in wrong and came out plain. In the back was one cook, and thirty minutes into our wait as a party of three, the manager finally stepped on the line to help cook. Our skillet sat on the line for fifteen minutes while our omelet and French toast slam took another ten minutes to come up. Despite it not actually being busy in the morning, four tickets were behind on the line. Just when we were about to just pay for the tots and leave, the server assured us the food was done. The French toast slam came out without the hash browns he had requested and the toast was overdone on the outside while the inside was underdone. The skillet potatoes were swimming in grease and overcooked and the scrambled eggs were brown. The seasonal fruit cup for 3.50 had brown apple slices, a couple pieces of melon, and grapes in June. The only thing that came out mildly good was the omelet. It took us 45 minutes to get the food and only 5-10 for us to turn the food over and just pay with cash and leave. Despite its outer appearance, this was the worst Denny's I had ever been to. We should have turned away when there were notes on the front door saying the A/C was out, and written on the back of that was a previous message listing a long list of grocery items they were out of sometime(hash browns, vanilla ice cream, no skillets, etc). I stopped by for a quick bite today just before 5pm. I ordered a double serving of hash browns and bacon for the build your own slam. The food came out fast and tasted just as hash browns and bacon should. Breakfast for dinner is always great. I am confused by the other reviews complaining about this restaurant. We only came to this Denny's because it was literally steps away from our hotel. It took an hour in a half to get one burger, two sandwiches and a salad. Not only that but they charged another person for our order and then told us that we couldn't get our food until we paid for our order and this was after over an hour of waiting for our food. They had two female staff members one of which was the manager who were just wasting their time talking to each other about who knows what. The manager which we saw pass by about twice looked like she was in the worst mood. She kept rolling her eyes however when she was with the other staff member they were both giggling. It did look like there was only one cook when we decided to go see what was going on with our food. The only good thing was the waitress. I felt so bad for her as everyone seemed to be blaming her. She brought us side salads while we waited for our food and brought my son goldfish snacks and a novelty cup which I'm sure came out of her paycheck. I can certainly see why there is a two star rating. The wait staff is amazing working with limited personal all so management can save a dollar. The food is denny' s diner stereotypical and what you expect what separates this establishment is the management. Personally, I will come back for the extremely friendly wait staff and would recommend that management learn leadership.
