Yes.... I'm a foodie and I detest chain restaurants. I do not like the corporate culture or its corporate commissaries. But sometimes I overlook my bias and judge a place for what it is. An In n Out burger, or a Grand Slam breakfast at Denny's are examples of just simple and perfect execution. This Denny's location is perfect for my commute when I need to be in San Diego. Easy off and on the 5 Fwy, clean bathrooms and very fast and friendly service. For ten bucks I get a perfect meal. Coffee, orange juice, buttermilk pancakes, over easy eggs, hash browns, bacon and sausage. Now, the sausage and hash browns can be upscaled with special ingredients, but simple perfection need not be tampered with. I get exactly what I want, prepared in a manner I expect. I know it's a franchise but I just have to say, out of all the Denny's i've ever been to, this is by far the best one. We stopped by on our way home to San Diego at 1AM coming from Taylor Swift's Reputation Tour in Pasadena. The interior is clean, the dishes actually looked delectable, and the servers are nice. My only comment is for the servers to be a bit more careful with serving the dishes as they come out of the kitchen. They served my meal to a different table so I had to wait for another dish to be made by the kitchen staff. They were very apologetic about it so I did not make a big deal out of it. Great Job to everyone at this location! Will be visiting again! EDIT: I just paid and they gave me a discount for the order delay due to the mixup! I did not even ask for it but they gave it to me! Had better experiences at Dennys. When they are busy i jusy know that things will not go as I wish they should've. The eggs weren't as good as I'm used to from Dennys. I walked into a Denny's just now today the one in Oceanside across the bridge by the mobile gas station at 1:14 AM and there's no easy way to say this, but my pancakes, smell like shit ! !! Because you see today is not just Mother's Day. I ordered a pick up order from this place last night and while my son and I are doing fine, my husband has serious food poisoning from the skillet he ordered. He said he thought the egg didn't look completely done and it tasted off, but he'd already eaten most of it after seeing some raw egg. They got my son's order wrong and gave him soggy bananas on top of his BURNT chocolate pancakes. The food was cold upon picking it up. When I arrived to the store and asked for my order (I was the only pick up yesterday evening) the waiter was socializing with the cook and manager. I waited for over 15 minutes for food that was supposed to already be ready to go, and when the manager asked the waiter if it was ready, he was like "Yeah dude, it's right there. It's done." No it wasn't. My food wasn't closed up and sat and got cold. They forgot the fruit I asked for (and after seeing the bananas I'm glad they did) and didn't thoroughly cook my husband's food. The manager appeared to be more suited for a padded cell than restaurant management. She spent part of time talking to herself and the other part giving orders that were reluctantly followed by the staff. It was pretty much "the lunatics have taken over the asylum" feel through the whole meal. The food finally arrived and what can I say ... it is Denny's. It probably tasted a little better than it should because we were famished, but still you could still see and taste the inferior quality. My better half's scrambled eggs were probably the highlight of the meal, nicely cooked, somewhat fluffy and plenty of cheese. She wasn't told the cheese was extra, but I doubt it was have deterred her had she been informed. The ham had grizzled pieces (never seen that on ham) and the ham quality was rather poor. The hash browns were more cooked than Laina would have liked and the pancakes were somewhat spongy. I had requested my burger medium rare and I got medium well. This may be the only way they cook their burgers, but if I am getting shoe leather, I just want to know in advance. The bacon wasn't crisp and quite fatty, the rest of the toppings were meh. The bun was bland considering it is supposed to be a cheddar bun. The Bourbon sauce had a chance to be a hero here, but ended up being weak and watery. The Wavy-Cut fries were a nice golden brown and with a soft potato interior. The "puppies" were almost devoid of chocolate flavor, but icing was a saving grace and had a nicely balanced sweetness. If you are looking for a good amount of food at cheap prices and don't care about abusing your palate, then Denny's is the place for you! read more

This is for my visit on 10/28/2018 between 12-1pm. My waitress was great. If I'm remembering correctly her name was Andrea. She was attentive and very nice. HOWEVER, as a customer (and former retail manager) when you walk into an establishment you expect to get greeted nicely and professionally. My husband and I walked in with our daughter and there was no smile or friendly greeting, just asked us how many there were and if we needed a kids menu. She took us to our tables and seemed annoyed when we asked for a car seat stand/chair. I thought it was just me but even my husband thought she came off rude and unwelcoming. They sat us by the door so I saw when customers came in she'd look up from what she was doing and not say anything, then continue on until someone else greeted them. If you're going to have a greeter at your establishment, at least make sure they're friendly and welcoming. read more

Don't usually rate Dennys but this one is special. The grilled haddock dinner for seniors was out of this world. Usually don't order fish at Dennys but this is Oceanside. The menu you order from does NOT have lower prices choices that are still available during this time, such as the $4.99 Value Slam. I ordered it a few days ago, but you have to ask for it. I think this is a very unethical business practice at this time of pandemic. Money is tighter at this time and this Denny's has no interest other than themselves. From about 4 months ago after first reopening from the coronavirus, they took away more economical meal choices from the abbreviated menu; you can still get them just the same, but you have to ask them for it. After screwing up my order by no delivery after almost 90 minutes, their best was to tell me to call corporate (??) tomorrow, despite being charged for over 60$ on my card, and to keep hanging up on me. I have passed this place many times and when my mom came to visit I decided to give it a try. Over priced, cheap quality but gets the job done. So for a Sunday morning we got served very quick. The sevice was alright, server forgot a few items and some straws for us and gave us minimal attention. Overall she had a good attitude. Food price is a bit high but be warned the server asked we wanted cheese on our eggs and we of course took it and found out we got change 89cents extra. This Denny's is our usual spot we stop at before arriving in San Diego. The servers are always friendly and the place is always clean. The Denny's is sandwiched between a Chevron and Mobile gas station so you can eat and gas up in one place. When I normally order my hearty breakfast skillet the portions normally fill or overfill the plate but today it seemed like they rationed out their food. My skillet was about 3/4 full of food. The food tasted great but I feel a bit shorted on my portion size. My wife ordered the Super Bird with avocado, which the waitress recommended but when she got it there was no avocado in sight. As we sat there trying to flag down the waitress we hear another table talking to their waitress about an item missing from their order. I guess the cook in the back was having an off day with their cooking. This one experience will not keep me away and we will be back the next time we are in the area. read more

I was very disappointed with the manager on Saturday morning 3/27 around 10am. My son and I went in to have breakfast and while half way into our food a man came in and was throwing up all the way from the cashier area to the restroom. (I understand it's not the restaurant's fault) but I had to stop eating and asked to get a to go box because the smell was really bad . I mean it was right in front of us, even the table In front of us left without saying a word because they were getting sick. And when I asked for the check I went up to pay and asked the cashier if there was a possible way to get a discount because of us leaving and not eat comfortably at the table and she said she would but had to ask the manager and that's when she (the manager) came up and told us well you guys almost finished your guys food and it wasn't their fault.. that right there pissed me off because as a company whether it's your fault as a "sorry for the inconvenience " heres a discount to keep your customers happy and show you care. But I guess after me telling her "yeah I understand but I had to leave because of the smell and I didn't want to get sick and throw up also.. she finally gave us 20% . which was like okay get out of here .
