I was very disappointed with the manager on Saturday morning 3/27 around 10am. My son and I went in to have breakfast and while half way into our food a man came in and was throwing up all the way from the cashier area to the restroom. (I understand it's not the restaurant's fault) but I had to stop eating and asked to get a to go box because the smell was really bad . I mean it was right in front of us, even the table In front of us left without saying a word because they were getting sick. And when I asked for the check I went up to pay and asked the cashier if there was a possible way to get a discount because of us leaving and not eat comfortably at the table and she said she would but had to ask the manager and that's when she (the manager) came up and told us well you guys almost finished your guys food and it wasn't their fault.. that right there pissed me off because as a company whether it's your fault as a "sorry for the inconvenience " heres a discount to keep your customers happy and show you care. But I guess after me telling her "yeah I understand but I had to leave because of the smell and I didn't want to get sick and throw up also.. she finally gave us 20% . which was like okay get out of here . The lady that works early morning has the social skills off a truck driver, looks she is not ready for customer service, Food sat on the table to be served for about 8 minutes while she and two more ladies where sharing a nice chat , while we where looking our food getting cold , she forgot one dish, and her responses are like she owns the place . Denny's Harbor Drive, wouldn't have found the place unless my friend hadn't suggested. So glad I did though,the apple cranberry salad there was delicious! Always figured Denny's to be the Pancake omelette serving breakfast place, but didn't realize they have such good and tasty salads. Fast service and low crowd in the afternoons might just have made this one of my favorite destinations for lunch! read more

Incredibly rude staff. Forgot to place my to go order, what on the website said would take 15-25 took 50 minutes. When they made my order wrong, they told me I had ordered the setting items. After turning the monitor to me condescendingly, I pointed out that I had indeed ordered what I said I did and the mistake was their's. Their only reply was "sorry no refunds" and walked away. I've said many times that I would gave to be paid to eat at Denny's. Well now I remember why that saying is true! The only pluses, advantages, positives and Yelp stars that I can see are the hours and that you get a good amount of food for the price. That's it, hence the 2 stars. Some of the lowest quality food that you can taste with every bite. Hubby and I were starving after a poor and long evening, we were far from home and it was close, open and cheap. Homecoming teenagers filled the spot (I'd never go out with that guy again!) and management couldn't handle it and was literally talking to herself and gesturing wildly. Luckily our server had a better head on his shoulders although definitely inexperienced as it took forever to get drinks, forever to get a refill and hubby never did get one. The food also took awhile to come out and was barely lukewarm. I needed butter for my pancakes and that took so long! So the pancakes were now cold and the butter wouldn't melt, yum right?! The hash browns were too thin and so crispy that they bordered on burnt. The ham slices were of such low quality that there were parts that could not be eaten as they were hard rubber! Hubby's burger was overcooked (think killed), the bacon of low quality, extra fatty and not crisp. His bourbon sauce on the burger was tasteless, and as he stated in his review "had the chance to be the hero" and that didn't happen. Anything Good At All?:: Yes, my scrambled eggs with cheese added (not told there was an extra fee for this and it was offered that way), was the only really good thing about the meal. The eggs were surprisingly fluffy and not over or undercooked. Hubby's fries are wavy-cut and were actually cooked well, not under or over and had a good potato flavor. So what can I say but I will again, not be back to Denny's for a long-long-long time. It had been over 15 years, perhaps never again. read more

So I waited patiently, 30 minutes for our food which was understandable since the restaurant was pack and Winnie the waitress was awesome. However, when my food came out, the rare steak I ordered was almost well done. I sent it back and the manager Scott came out and told me my steak was rare and basically challenged me on what a rare steak looks like instead of just replacing the steak. Gives unrealistic expectations to customers waiting to be seated only to be turned away because their kitchen is packed up. After being told to wait 15 minutes to 40 minutes then to them saying the kitchen is so packed that they can't sit customers till they catch up and the food wait time alone is 40 minutes is a bit irritating. read more

Worst Service I've seen. I sat for 25 minutes waiting for someone to say anything to me. If I hadn't gotten a phone call during the wait I wouldn't have stayed as long. There was no reason for the delay, there were plenty of wait staff and there were only a few people there to wait on. We ordered Boys in San Diego yesterday and wanted them again..night and day! Last night was thick, hot and filling. These were limp, barely enough ingredients to fill half a sandwich. I had this same problem last year here. I took it back and they had overcharged us, given us the "senior menu" version. I'm sure because I had ordered 1 regular and 1 senior, yet they were identical. The manager heard the waitresses arguing that it was all my fault, in spite of a clear receipt showing my order. I had forgotten that last year they charged us $70+ for 4 sandwiches and sodas. But it was late and they were the only place open. And we got shorted 1 sandwich and 1 soda, then accused of taking our order home, taking it out ourselves, then trying to rip them off. All the bags had been stapled shut at pick up and we assured that all was correct. Not trustworthy or professional. The reason we didn't eat there in the first place was the amount of food all over the floors and greasy tables with plates still on them, while the waitresses WERE ALL chatting at the register. And this time, my friend brought her service dog and was told she had to leave her tied up outside while she picked up and laid Also, the San Diego Dennys offered us the great $3 donation which has very nice coupons inside, which we used today. Something so simple as a waffle iron at a dennys, you would expect them to have a spare or replacement at hand. I know what you're thinking, it's a Denny's! That's what I was thinking too. I had an hour to kill and I was hungry. And I figured it had to be better than the Coco's on base, which is awful. Let's just say I wasn't expecting much. I was shocked at the level of service I received from Cindy! Not only was it incredible service for a Denny's, it was probably the best service I've ever gotten at a restaurant. Cindy was prompt, friendly and courteous. She helped me figure out what I wanted, and I am a picky customer. She checked on me repeatedly, not hovering too much but available, offering coffee refills and water. And then before she went on her break she walked around and introduced the server who would be covering for her to every one of her tables. Wow! I sat there amazed! And the food was actually good too!!! It came quickly, and everything was hot and cooked perfectly. Way better than my expectations! Waitress Casandra, rushed us the whole time so she could get to her break, gave us a check before we were ready and didn't ask if we wanted to go boxes. We waited 30 minutes before any new staff arrived to have our checks fixed because we were charged for items we didn't receive and upon leaving, we were waiting to pay for about 7 minutes before someone finally came to check us out and that Hostess with her edges laid poorly, also rushed us. Saying, "are you gonna put your card in?" And I just found my favorite Monday morning, I really might have overdone it this weekend, breakfast spot. Denny's always knows how to just dial you up dirty and fill all the cracks in the stomach, and the heart. Went with the old fashioned grand slam. Coul have sworn it came with toast, but the buttermilk pancakes were money to go with the buttery scrambled eggs and artery clogging sausage and bacon strips. Went here last night at midnight with a friend of mine. This Denny's is just like any other Denny's: Someplace to go after a night of clubbing or when you're awake at 2am and have nothing else to do. Good price for okay food, but definitely not someplace I would go to all the time. About 30 minutes into our meal, a gentleman with a dog was seated behind us. Not a seeing eye dog or a service dog.. a chihuahua. I don't know if dogs are allowed at this establishment, but I'm hoping not since it seems kind of unhygienic. I have a dog too but I would never take her to Denny's with me. He seemed to be a regular too. Additionally, his chihuahua would snap at anyone who came near him, so you could imagine our surprise when we heard him growling and barking right behind us. I was kind of afraid that the dog was going to jump over the chair and attack my friend's hair. On another note, the cappuccino was delicious. Definitely recommend that. read more

Since this place is located right off the 5 freeway, this place gets really busy. Parking is limited so you may have to park on the street. Service is friendly and the food is what you would expect from any other Dennys. Otherwise not much more to say about this place. read more

I don't usually write reviews for Denny's. I go there when I am on the road and there are not many choices available, or I am not sure the other options are clean. You know that you will get the same meal in a clean place with average service. I see no need to write a review about these places since it is average in my opinion. I decided to break my rule for this Denny's because this place was WAY ABOVE the average Denny's! First, the service was excellent. Our Server was extremely attentive and sweet. Second, he food was actually better than what we have had in other Denny's. My Cobb Salad was more fresh and even my kids said the burgers and milkshakes were better. If you are ever traveling to/from San Diego and ready for a break and a nice meal, then this is a great option. I would also like to add that they had these small screens at each table that allowed you to pay right there. Very convenient! Great place!! read more

Never coming here again. I only ordered one order of fries. When I get the fries I noticed that it was a very small portion. Super small portion. I eat at a lot Denny's all over the states. Never had any issues. I asked the waiter if this plate of fries look right to you? She replies, she says that they don't always follow the portion size.. She asked if I would like to talk to the manager or order another order of fries. So the manager Ryan comes over. I tell him that this plate of fries is very tiny. He says, no that's the right portion size. Ryan exact words is that the cooks measure them every time. Really? The waiter already said that they don't always follow the portion size. I didn't get more fries. Im really disappointed at this point because two mins later the people next to me get the same plate of fries but the plate is twice the size as mine. Really?
