Made the mistake of thinking "maybe they've gotten better", NOPE.. the Manager, had the most difficult time understanding that my wife has allergies. First I have to say I am a Native Angeleno. Denny's has been a part of my life since forever. I have been to this particular Denny's several times since 1991 when I arrived in Riverside. I went last night and had the best tasting breakfast, made to order in a very, very long time. My friend has been looking for the place that has a great Country Fried Steak. FOUND IT. I came in a group of 11. At first they said it would be a 30-40 minute wait for a table, but after about 10 minutes, they were already ready for us! Service was excellent - our food came quickly and all orders were correct. One person in our group ordered an Arnold Palmer, and when he tried it, it was gross. However, even before he told the waiter, the waiter brought him a new one which was much better. It's like he KNEW somehow! Also, another person in our group was having his birthday. Spoke to manager about a refund and she advised us we'd have to call grub hub since it was ordered through them, which was understandable and fine. Very good service, everyone greeted me and I was seated promptly. The waitress was so sweet and kind; she suggested a different meal choice that came with all the items that I wanted plus an orange juice for $1 less. Food came out rather quickly. Coffee was offered immediately and the waitress informed me of creamer flavors, she was very helpful and friendly. I honestly keep coming back even though I hate it here. Every time I'm ready to break up with this place, there's one shred of goodness that keeps my faith going. But I'm done Denny's. I just can't deal with the shitty service, the long waits (even though it's EMPTY) and the horrid prices for really piss-poor quality food! None of this applies to one waiter though, Anthony. Today I decided to stop by Denny's on University with my family for dinner. The waitress comes by to take our drink order. I ordered a chocolate shake, my daughter ordered a cake shake only to be told there was no vanilla ice cream and my son ordered an Oreo shake only to be told they use vanilla ice cream to make the Oreo shake. Then I ordered boneless wings , I was told they didn't have buffalo sauce. This is ridiculous. On the brighter side the waitress was very attentive, and nice. Made an online order for breakfast early this morning and realized I had accidentally made the order twice so I called to cancel one of them as soon as it was made and they refused to cancel either one. A women claimed it wasn't possible and there was no way of cancelling either one or getting a refund. Needless to say, how is it not possible to cancel one!? Update: Came to pick up my orders, since it's been paid for, and they refused to give me my food. Strike 1 When he was done helping those customers, he left without seating us. Strike 2 When he did came back, there were other customers who were ready to pay their bills. TO SUMMARIZE, THIS WAS THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED AT ANY RESTAURANT. PLUS, THERE WAS A HAIR IN MY FOOD. First of all, I had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated in the half-empty restaurant. I was given the wrong drink. My toast was burned. If you are waited by a noob named Timothy S., you better order and ask for everything you need the first time, because he won't be checking back on you until 20 minutes after you are done and that is when he will stop by with your bill. My past 3 visits, I had been waited by him and all 3 times, he never stopped by to check on us. Therefore, do not ever order some sort of beverages because it will not be refilled and ask for everything you need the first time around. He also got the orders wrong for the table behind us. Due to his mistakes, he went back and forth to that table about 5-6 times over the course of 10 minutes, and none of those time he ever came to check up on us despite me putting two empty cups at the corner of the table. Took 30 minutes for the food to come out and 20 minutes after we finished eating to get the bill. Also, he literally waited for everyone to finish their food, so he can print out all the bills for every table and passed them out at the same time. When I finally got the bill, I was quite upset and did not leave any tip. I felt that he did not deserve any as he did not even serve us. All he did was took the order and gave me the bill, so I believe that his wage covers that. I am always a generous tipper; however, there were no service this time. Also, as I headed to the front counter to pay and get out, he followed and told the cashier that he will take care of my bill when it came to my turn. After paying, he realized that I did not leave any tips and had the nerves to put me on the spot and ask me how much tips I am giving. Service was terrible, especially by Mr. Timothy. However, the foods were pretty good, but slightly warm and not hot as usual. I overheard him asking the table behind us if they wanted the food right away or wait until all of the foods are finished. So, I suspect that he probably waited for all of the orders to finish to bring it. Hence, one of the plate was warm and the other hot. Either way, 2 stars for the food. The service was so and so but when we got our checks my sisters check was short $5 when the waiter brought her back her change so she asked him but he ignored her so she asked for the manager and he told us to leave. For a Denny's, I really like this one Because of the great service that I have experienced. Contrary to popular opinion it seems, maybe the other workers were not that great, but I have had positive experiences with Jose. Basically every night before midterm or a final I like to cram and stay up all night. Where else better to stay up all night and study then Denny's where I can get unlimited iced coffee refills along with food anytime I want. Although caveat is that it gets a little loud some nights, and definitely the crowds at night are a little stranger than during the day. My experience with this dennys is that the food is alright, but what do you expect from a Denny's right? However, the service from Jose was great. He would constantly give me refills on my coffee, and kept checking back every time he walked by and saw my glass becoming empty. He was as much of a bro as a server could get. He always had a smile on his face and was just overall an example of great service. Overall, I will be back here throughout the school year during midterm/final season, and you can most likely find me sitting at that one table next to the outlet, at 3 a.m. with my ipad/laptop studying while eating a plate of food along with a few glasses of iced vanilla coffee on the table. read more

Denny's...the sit-down restaurant everyone goes to after the club. I must have been buzzed still because after all the mistakes I've made getting food from here, I decided to order a plate of food. No way would I have done this sober My friends got pancake breakfast combos, but I decided to go for the T-bone steak combo. My eggs and hash browns were alright, but that steak got one bite and the rest cast aside. It was nasty! Dry, cardboard thin, and tough. My friends were grossed out by it too. I wish I had taken a picture of it. Xp Yuck. Much earlier on in the evening, I was at the Cheesecake Factory and had a steak there -- the difference in quality was like night and day (but should I be surprised? First let me tell you about my mission: Went here right after escape from wonderland at the NOS center around 320am with a group of 10 just for it to be closed. We had the best of luck this night (not). Our original plan was to go to IHOP but figured there was a denny's closer to the venue about 10 mins away. Terrible idea. They were unprepared for the amount of people and the wait was 1.5 hrs since there was only 1 chef and server. Anyway, after hearing about the 1.5 hr wait, we decided to go to one closer to our hotel in DTR. On the way to this denny's I mentioned "What if its closed!" and the bf responds with "Denny's never closes!" and lo and behold...we happened to get here right when security guy walks out and says "Closed til 430 guys, sorry." See what happens when I open my mouth? lol. Being exhausted, we decided to wait in the parkinglot despite signs saying 1 hr parking only and security was cool with it. 4am came along and management came out and waved us over saying we could come in (they said 430 earlier but they were turning away so many cars that they prolly thought it would be best to reopen for more business) Anyways, now to the food and service: Food: I got the grand slamwich. good but so incredibly greasy and unhealthy. hashbrowns were just meh. Service: Was good at first. The server was really nice, topped us off. But we had been sitting there for a while and I guess he got annoyed with us when he gave us the bill and gave us attitude when we told him he made a mistake on it charging us for something we didnt order. Great hospitality by one of the waitresses who finely tackled many of the problems that the diner was giving her. We were escorted to our seat and were approached by a very kind, young waitress who was both humorous and hospitable. I ordered the Bourbon Bacon Burger (a classic that I always order at Denny's) and it was great. They also gave me a good portion of seasoned fries (more than I get at other Denny's back in my hometown Monterey). I also ordered the half sized nachos. The chef had ran out of ground beef so the waitress came up and asked if I wanted to substitute any other meat and she mentioned Prime Rib. I asked if it would cost extra and said that she would take care of it for me. She was very nice and always came to refill our drinks and asked if we needed anything.
