It was late, I wanted a burger but I didn't want McDonald's or Jack in the Box. On my way home I was like Denny's is always open let me see if they still have that Bourbon Burger. It seems like it has been several years since I last patronized this restaurant and wrote a review. But the day finally arrived where I could bring my dad back to one of his favorite eateries for some father / daughter time together. We arrived at a slow time, so we received prompt and extremely friendly service. Darvaye was very sweet and accommodating while taking our orders. I wanted a grilled cheese sandwich & soup from the 55+ selections. But the soup of the day was chicken noodle which I wasn't really fond of, so she was happy to make a change to French fries instead. My dad ordered two eggs over medium, two sausage links and wheat toast. We both ordered root beers to wash it down with. We were very hungry, so our food was just as expected, appetizing and satisfying. Just what we would consistently expect at a Denny's. My dad liked reminiscing when he was a regular and the staff made him feel special like a VIP. Walking in to this restaurant and noticing the clientele, I got the impression that the bulk of their customers are regulars. I walked during breakfast hours. There was only one lady working the register and serving although this did not impact service and I was seated right away. There only 2 tables with customers present at the time so that helped. The decor was dated and the tables were pretty worn. My drink order was taken right away and delivered in a reasonable amount of time (coffee.). I was looking through the menu when I was asked if I was ready. I wasn't ready so I advised that I wasn't quite ready and I mention this only because it took an unusually long time for her to check back to see if I was ready. Still pretty sparse customers but with only one staff, it is very easy to get a bit backed up. I placed my order and visited the restroom while I waited. This is probably the worst Denny's bathroom I have visited. It was evident that the urinal had not been cleaned in a very long time due to staining and the smell. There was dried urine stains surrounding the urinal floor which was disgusting. This almost ruined my appetite. The soap and paper towels were well stocked. I ordered the Classic Benny for breakfast. (See below) along with a coffee refill. For some reason, I imagined the egg would be a little runny. Seemed to be cooked completely. Taste was ok, nothing bad to say. I will say that as I cut into the second biscuit, I noted that the egg was runny on that one so I think that the first biscuit's egg was probably over cooked. Overall, I would say the food is what you would expect. Come only if you would like to take your time and have a good slow time having breakfast. I had to hit them hard on the raring for the bathroom. Personally, this concerns me with the cleanliness of the kitchen if they can't maintain the bathroom, just speaks to management control. Looking for a quick place to sit down and have a quick meal before getting on the road my husband decided we should eat here. Came in no one at the front. Typical old style Denny's. Half of the restaurant dark with the chairs up on the tables . A few minutes we were seated. There were only 3 other tables occupied in the restaurant. The guy that seated us was also the server. He gave us menus and took our drink orders. When he brought back the drinks were were not ready to order so he said he would give us a few minutes to decide. 20 minutes later we still waiting for him to come back. We finally order it takes another 30 minutes to get our food. My burger needed seasoning and the avocado was past its prime I had to remove half of it from my burger. The fries were good. My husband had the skillet, he enjoyed it. My sons enjoyed their burger as well. They did get one drink refill also. Came here to pick up my CURBSIDE order, on a sunday lunch rush. I get it's a busy day, but this establishment was NOT prepared or was really understaffed. They UNHOOKED their phones because it kept "ringing nonstop" - a dennys employee. DENNYS instructions was to CALL when you get there to get your curbside, and they unhooked the phones. SMH. So i walk inside, only to wait 20 minutes for my takeout. Funny because i was late to my pickup time by 30 minutes already. The person upfront preparing orders coming out of the kitchen was off. She was ditzy and went to abandon her spot to go look for caramel sauce for 20 minutes. - the food was STACKING and no one was bagging.
