I go to Denny's pretty often as there is one right by my house and usually have a really nice experience. So I was really disappointed about my experience at this Denny's. The server was very nice my issue was with the kitchen. While waiting for our order to come the cook and someone else in the kitchen were talking so loud it almost sounded like they were fighting which made the atmosphere a little uncomfortable. When we got our order my skillet looked super skimpy compared to all the other times I have ordered it, and it was not even sizzling. I realized it was missing the broccoli which is probably why it looked so meager but it also did not have much potatoes. I asked the server about the broccoli and he right away went to tell the cook that he forgot to add broccoli to my skillet. I started to eat slowly so that the broccoli would come and I could eat it with the rest of my meal, however after I was already halfway through and it still did not arrive. I was watching the cook while I was waiting and saw that he sent out 3 dishes before he put the broccoli in chef mic. It wasn't until my server asked him again that he said it was coming and my server had to come back and tell me that it was going to take just a few more minutes. By the time I got the broccoli the rest of my food was barely warm. I definitely don't recommend coming here if that cook continues to send out food like this, but I feel bad for the servers who all seemed nice. read more

We went to Denny's the other night after a night of shopping.We had a very polite and professional server his name was Jake.There was a mistake made on or order which is understandable.We all kind of started laughing and he said he'll take care of that and get another order and I said Ok will take any mistakes.I did proceed to eat the potatoes that came with the sandwich off the plate.And then I noticed the manager and another worker standing at the counter looking over at us and then they would say something to each other. I finally motion to him to come over he ignored me.Jake came to the table. And I asked him where my Super Slam breakfast was he said well the manager said because you ate some of the food on the plate that you have to pay for that and he's not getting you the Super Slam.We asked if he could send the manager over I think the managers name was Fernando but I don't know because he didn't have a name tag on.He was extremely arrogant and said listen Guy you eat food I'm not giving you the Super Slam and you're paying for that.I explained.Well for the first 20 minutes I ate portion that was correct which was the potatoes.Just the worst display of public relations I've ever seen and with this passive but persistent arrogance from the manager Fernando that was just unbelievable.I tried to reason with him at first but he was so arrogant I let him know how extremely dissatisfied I was. read more

Came in to Denny's during busy morning hours on my drive to La Jolla on a Saturday. Though the wait for a booth was near 30 minutes, my girlfriend and I sat at the bar and were tended to quickly, and the waiter was nice. Let me be perfectly clear, when it comes to an establishment like Denny's, I look for three things, cleanliness, customer service, and how good my food tastes... Everything else, face it, you are at Denny's, if you want ambiance, pony up for a nicer joint. The Denny's in San Clemente crushed it. My water was delivered in a glass with lemon and a straw (as opposed to nasty plastic cups they used to have), our waiter was friendly, and kept us informed about the progress of our order, and my Red, White, and Blue Slam was scrumptious. I know not all Denny's are alike, which is why I posted this review... If you take the toll road between the 405 FWY and Interstate 5, this is a good bet for some quick, good eats. read more

The 5 stars is more for Allie then it is for Dennys it's self. Although, I must say they cooked their over easy eggs to perfection! And , I have always had a great experience here. Plus, the people watching is fab. So, tonight - I came solo. I needed to clear my head. Have a hot cup of coffee , like a full one with no interruption from work/school. It was nice. Allie was my server and so on top of it. Very endearing, quite lovely actually. When the restaurant was empty she came over and talked to me. We had a wonderful conversation. It was short and sweet, but just what I needed. People underestimate the intuitive nature of "servers. " She just Knew. For the food. Come on people it's Denny's - they've got it down to a science. I am here in San Clemente for a business convention trip with my daughter. I came to have breakfast and the host overlooked me 3 times. Sat a 2 guest before me and never once acknowledged me. Both these guest came after me. ... the first guest was a woman and child. He sat. I was next. He totally ignored me. Continued to work and not look my way. As soon as the door open and 2 gentlemen walked in he immediately sat them and brang them coffee. He still turned away from me and continued working. Never even botherd asking me if I was waiting to be seated or needed help. I finally was able to make eye contact and at this point I was about ready to walk out because surely I must be invisible or died and I was only a ghost that no one could see. .. I asked if I was invisible because at this point I am feeling very discriminated against. Even after being seated in a area I was ignored. Everyone getting service but me. I will never come back to this place. I have never been treated so poorly. ... I asked for the manager when the waitress came to take my order. It's been 25 min. No food, no manager. ... I get it, it's Denny's , it's no 5 star experience, but honestly, you're better off going to Ihop! Disorganized, bad service. We were seated quickly, but all we ever received was our appetizers. We tried to be patient since we were thinking maybe they had just dealt with an influx of customers who came in from the tree lighting at the outlets. My fiance had ordered a burger and I had gotten a cobb salad, 30 minutes turned into 40, to 50, to an hour. Our daughter was falling fast asleep in her high chair, and we finally got so frustrated we walked up to the cashier to explain we were just going to leave since we had lost our waiter about 45 minutes ago, and little one was falling asleep. Right as this happens they finally realize our food was sitting on the window waiting to go out. They offered to box it up to go for us, and normally we would've just said no thanks, but we were all starving so we took the food and left. They also still charged us full price for the drinks and refills, plus the appetizers. I'm not one to sit there and pick at a place for running a bit behind , and demand an immediate discount or freebie, but completely forgetting about our table and the disappearing waiter, plus the lack of apology or ability to speak to a manger was frustrating. We've vowed never to go back to this location again, unless it was the last place to get a meal on earth. read more

Food was very Denny's. It was the cleanliness and service that was an issue. Asked for water that was never received. The table was sticky. Only 2 place settings were given for 4 people. Had to beg for additional silverware. The syrup bottle was covered with syrup on the outside so my hands came away sticky. Went on a weekday morning in early fall. Food was okay, although some dishes were undercooked or had cooled from sitting. Wait times were unacceptable. Staff was nice, polite, etc. but clearly didn't care much it was taking over an hour from ordering to get dishes out. Saw several tables walk out, some waiting at door also left due to wait. This was only one experience on one random day but, judging by the blasé attitude of the staff, it seemed to be standard. I won't be back to test my theory. read more

This was a take out order. We were staying at a hotel and I specified to the server who took our phone order that it would take us about 15-20 minutes to get there, so please don't rush the order. I also asked for fruit to go with my husbands California Club, he didn't receive any fruit or side order what so ever. He also didn't receive the California club, he barely received a club. It was such a mess in the container that it wasn't even enjoyable to eat, not to mention he was still hungry after because he didn't get a side item as ordered. The girl who took my order said she couldn't put in fruit as a side order in her register, but she could put in grapes or apples and he would still get fruit. He got the invisible kind apparently. Extreme zero calorie fruit. I ordered the Superbird with fries (I wanted the thick ones) and 2 sides of ranch and a side of $2.00 pancakes. I got a soggy sandwich, barely anything on it, I got seasoned fries that I didn't want and was charged for from the looks of my receipt, there was no ranch anywhere to be found and I also was missing my pancakes. When I called the restaurant back to tell them that my order was messed up, after my husband and ran to the hotel and came all the way back with the food, I was put on hold and then disconnected. I tried calling back again and the same thing happened. You charged me $25.46 for a bunch of crap that we could barely stand to eat. Food that was cold by the time we got it. Food that was missing. And seasoned fries that I didn't even want. That alone shows a extra .69 cents on the rec. I would have to say that you severely dropped the ball on this one. My bf and I were real hungry so we requested to sit right in front of the kitchen since it looked cool! It all started off bad when our cheese-sticks weren't cooked right so we asked for other ones. I ordered an Ultimate Omelette with no onions and no sausage and my bf ordered a Gram Slam with eggs well done... As we were waiting for our food there was food ready and the servers wouldn't even take the food to it's table, I literally took time & it took them 15 min to take the food that was ready to its table. Also one server kept arguing with the cook about how he kept missing food it was just all unorganized. When our food was ready our server just grabbed it & brought it to us. (Didn't even check if everything was ok with it first before bringing it to us)! Finally after receiving our food I was ready to eat when my omelette had sausage... Bummer!!!!! & my bf's food was burnt. Our server didn't come back to ask if everything was ok sooooooo We just didn't say anything.. Pretty much all we were eating was our hashbrown..... Another server came to us and told us she left? Soooo if we needed anything to let him know. So i told him to take the ultimate omelette off my tab ... He suggested in them making another one but my appetite had just gone away....He was nice about it and understood. I walked into the building with my grandma. We were both on a trip to the mall and wanted some brunch. We were seated near the restrooms. Every time someone walked out and opened the door , we got a big whiff of diarrhea and period blood. It was disgusting. The waiter we had smelled like lemon lime perfume that you would get from the dollar tree. She took our order and messed it up several times. My lovely grandma ordered some scrambled eggs with orange juice and little miss lemon lime brought her eggs sunny side up with sprite. Like DO YOU EVEN LISTEN? Anyway her cheetah thong was showing the entire time and it was 100% nasty. You could obviously see her ratchet bra through her shirt. Like honey look in the mirror before you leave the house. Normally, I'm not too happy with most Denny's as the brand just keeps getting worse so I wasn't expecting this one to be any different, especially on a weekend. Surprisingly, even while busy, these guys were on top of it! The manager looks like a kid so I wouldn't think that he could run things smoothly knowing that he may not have much experience but I was proven wrong.
