I can't believe I am reviewing a Denny's. I am embarrassed to give them a 4th star just because it's Denny's for gosh sake. We stopped in around 10am on a Tuesday morning after just getting out of court 'a g a i n', having not eaten before our 8am hearing time and some expected traffic. This place is right off the freeway, easy to get/out we were hangry and wanted food NOW!!! We were immediately seated and greeted by our server. I didn't get her name because we were too busy engaged in BS court conversation while doing our menu scans. BTW, it appears the "build your own" Slam is the cheapest option for a rounded plate. The server didn't bat an eye as our 'pick any four' selections came rattling off our tongues. Our food arrived swiftly, hot and was devoured just as quickly. we came here around 11 AM. We were sat right away in our server was very attentive and nice. We ordered the double cheeseburger, the diner patty melt, the grand slam witch, and an omelette. We made a good amount of substitutions and everything came out just as we ordered. All of our food was very hot and yummy. My favorite was the diner patty melt, it was so delicious with the grilled onions and cheese. I ordered the sauce on the side and I am glad I did that as it was a little too sweet. I ordered Denny's located on Mira Mesa blvd through the Grubhub App. I scheduled an order to be delivered 2 hours later in the day. I ordered the club sandwich and chicken tenders. The food was delivered on time, but the food was not very good. Especially, the chicken tenders were over cooked and dry. The club sandwich was okay , but I had better. We've been to this particular location and gotten just about the same table in the same are, in a smaller section near the restrooms and it works for us. More secluded and away from the larger restaurant. Each time the service and staff have been friendly and courteous. They go out of the way to make accommodations for us. And the food is always great! Denny's on Mira Mesa Road has definitely become one of our go to spots when considering where to go for a meal out. Keep up the good work. read more

This Denny's is located right across from ShareTea in Mira Mesa. The hostesses here are friendly and professional. Our server was amazing and had us seated right away. We ordered the T-Bone steak, build your own pancakes and the blaster fire burger. The food was nicely done and everything was flavorful. The customer service and food delivery were excellent. However, during our visit, the kitchen area may have been under staffed as it took us almost 30 minutes to receive our food. Nonetheless, this place is fairly decent. I know I only ordered to go but the staff were great! Breakfast is my favorite. I can eat it anytime of the day which is why Dennys is so convenient. I called my order in, the guy that took my order was named Angelo. I remember because my order was under Angela and we laughed about it. he was very polite, repeated my order with no issues and I had a big order for about 6 of us. I arrived exactly 15 min later. All of the food was ready for us. The person at the front named Miguel assisted with checking that everything was correct, opened up each box to show me and then double checked to see if I needed anything else. Angelo also came to the front and let me know he was sure to include tons of utensils, sauces, jelly, syrup etc so that I would be taken care of. No!!! Not you too, Denny's!!! You're losing your tastiness I'm so disappointed in my Supreme Skillet!! This has been my go-to dish.. I've gotten this at a ton of Denny's locations over the years. It has always been consistently good and satisfying...with maybe a couple of disappointments along the way... This Denny's used to be a consistent location...but that ended today. My Supreme Skillet didn't even taste as though it was cooked in SKILLET at all... It barely tasted cooked all the way... Like all the ingredients were pre-cooked.. thrown together and heated in the microwave! The cheese on top didn't even look freshly melted...The 's potatoes n sausage tasted old and pre-cooked from a week ago! My 's mushrooms tasted like they were from a can..my over easy egg's were yolkless and hard...I try to have understanding because the pandemic has messed alot of people up and alot of businesses are bearly getting by with quality staffing n people who actually care about the food they serve as THE COOK! Denny's has been my guilty pleasure since my college days. There's just something about a greasy Superbird and seasoned fries that makes me very happy. In fact, this combination makes me so happy that I can't even remember the last time that I've tried a different item at Denny's! Remarkably, it had been a couple of years since I last visited a Denny's, although I often commented on how I wanted to eat here again whenever I passed one. My boyfriend and I recently moved to Mira Mesa and now live within a couple miles of this location. I'm hoping that means that I'll be able to indulge a bit more frequently, although I fully acknowledge that this needs to be a special treat and not a regular occurrence or I'd run the risk of packing on the pounds. My other trick for combating the often high calorie count of the meals here is to commit to only eating half of the dish. It makes me feel much better about my choices! :) On this visit, we were immediately seated for our weekday morning meal. Our waitress did a great job of staying on top of my boyfriend's iced tea refills, even offering to make him a to-go cup after he had downed four or five glasses during the meal. Being Father's Day, I was surprised to be seated as quickly as I was. Overall, the service was fine and I received my food in a timely manner; though the pancakes did come a tad bit burnt. The reason why they got three stars other than the pancakes is that they decided to be stupid when I tried to use the 20% Denny's coupon that I have used at the locations in Rancho Bernardo, San Marcos, and Oceanside over the last few months. Never once have I had to print it out; all the locations above just scanned it from my phone and it went through. The employee behind the register told me that it was policy that it had to be printed out and pointed to the sign attached to the register...THIS SIGN CLEARLY SAYS NOTHING ABOUT THAT AT ALL!!! Obviously, this location walks it's own path than other locations in the county but to point at a sign that says nothing about us is either laziness or incompetence. (I came on a Saturday during lunch time- it was pretty busy.) My server, Ishmael was extraordinary with his service & the main reason for my review. He was the kind server that seated me immediately, frequently checked on me, made sure I had water, napkins, sauce, etc. He was a wonderful server!! Also, this Denny's is speedy fast! Upon ordering, my food came within like 10 mins! I was so impressed & so hungry! So shout out to the cooks in the back- you guys rock! I ordered a garden side salad as an appetizer and wow! My partner and I frequently go into this Denny's and have always had excellent service. There is a particular staff member that stands out. I believe his name is Julius. He is one of the most polite individuals we've come across in the restaurant industry, and we eat out quite a bit. He always seats us and is ready with menus and asks what we would like to drink right away and shows back up with them quickly. He takes our order and brings it out in a polite and friendly manner. He frequently stops by our table to make sure we're doing ok and asks if we need anything else. Again, he's very polite and well mannered which is a real breath of fresh air when there are so many unhappy individuals in the industry. Used to frequent this location with my family as a child and just recently came here with a friend for a late breakfast. Came in and wished not even ten minutes and was seated and greeted by Connie. We had our drinks and food ordered within 5 minutes and our food came out in less than 10 minutes! This place was busy as there wasn't a seat in the dining area but their staff kept doing what they do, provide quick hot and freshly made food with a smile. My friend enjoyed his country fried steak and eggs. I enjoyed my lumberjack breakfast! Our drinks were topped off without asking and we were checked constantly. Not sure why I haven't been here in a while but I will definitely come back again. Thanks for keeping me and my friend full without breaking the bank.
