I honestly couldn't tell how much I like the place but at the end of the day it wasn't too bad. This isn't normally my type of food but it was the closest denny's and it was the only thing open. I guess I liked the fact that it was open but the staff almost seemed tired. I don't blame them but it got just a bit frustrating when I had to practically wake up the waitress to come get my order. I was driving from WeHo so I tried to call in and order ahead. The person on the phone kept messing it up so I decided to just go in the restaurant. There was only one person working on a busy Sunday morning. I patiently waited for him to take care of 2 to go orders that were missing items. When it was finally my turn he asked if I was there for pick up or ordering. I told him ordering, he let out a sarcastic laugh and then proceeded to address the two patrons that walked in after me. There was a livelier ambience at my grandma-mas funeral. Walking in there was so depressing. We weren't greeted, and after ordering our drinks and waiting 15 minutes for them, we just kindly got up and left. Denny's should really be ashamed of themselves. This location is convenient and it is my to go place when I want food at 3am. Although the service is a little slow, the food served is hot. There were a couple of students studying even at night as they have free wifi and most of the tables have plug in sockets. UCLA students also get a 15% discount on showing their BruinCard. I personally would not base my opinion on a review that starts with either "I was drunk" or "I was hungover". That said, it's a friggin' Dennys. The cashier told me and my friend to sit down that he would be with us in a minute. That minute was more than 20mins. He continued to sort through things at the register and tended to the guests that needed boxes for leftovers and the guests that needed to pay. They clearly did not wish to serve anyone since four others arrived and they told them to have a seat and that they would be with you in a minute. Moons Over My Hammie is my favorite plate at Denny's, especially late at night! It's a savory ham, egg, and cheese sandwich with plenty of butter on the grilled bread. Their new Pancake Poppers are a bit heavy but is a great substitute for funnel cake, if you like that and don't want to go get it on the Santa Monica Pier. We had an older hispanic lady as our waitress, and I left her a 20%+ tip because she was so attentive and happy to serve us. Being in the heart of Westwood, this Denny's is a convenient location for the UCLA community but doesn't receive much business. My only guess for the cause is that it's off to the very edge of the Westwood businesses and people opt to walk to the streets and corners with more of a selection when they want to grub. I know it's been there for at least 20 years so obviously it has no problem surviving all the changes in food trends over time around here. Parking is near impossible since street parking is scarce and there isn't even a nearby public lot. If you have a permit for a UCLA lot, I'd highly suggest parking at CHS or Lot 1 and walking there. Denny's in general serves higher quality food than Norm's, and is a lot less greasy. (Norm's food swims in oil!) read more

This is a very small Denny's, but it's conveniently located next to UCLA and the IIC in Westwood. I would rate this Denny's five stars due to it's friendly service alone. The staff here are very accomodating and nice. They didn't mind when we lingered for a couple of hours over coffee. Good job, keep it up! read more

when is Denny's the busiest? 1/1/13 at 2AM. we had to wait 15min to get seated among scantily clad party goers. when is Denny's the most delicious? 1/1/13 at 2:40AM. yes there were so many people, our food actually took almost 20-30 minutes to come out. but god every last bite was so delicious! i don't think i've ever chomped down on a philly cheesesteak like that before. it would have been more awesome to come back the next day for hangover recovery brunch. but my headache was so bad that i had to stay in bed till the early afternoon. maybe next year... even when not boozed up, Denny's still an almost weekly stop for weekend brunch. the frequent coupons they send out through the mail don't hurt either. (aka don't ever throw those envelopes of coupons in the mail away! they got some legit things beside dry cleaners and carpet steamers!). read more

No iced tea and I couldn't try the lemonade to see if I liked it because the waitress said she would have to charge me. I was very clear that I wanted to taste it before I ordered it. Leaving the Hammer it was already 1:30 p.m., so we needed a place for lunch. We asked at the information desk and was told of four choices nearby. The first three turned out to be expensive, with entrees in the teens, so we picked Denny's a block from our next bus line. Entering the almost empty restaurant we had to seat ourselves. Then we had to get the waitresses attention and even ask for menus. This was not looking good. Then we had to even call her and tell her we were ready to order. I ordered the All You Can Eat Pancakes ($4) and my wife ordered the Chili ($5). Within three minutes or so my first four pancakes arrived needing an extra syrup. We waited for my wife's order and after a couple minutes had to call our waitress and ask her where the Chili was. Her response was they were making it fresh. Finally as I ordered another three pancakes, her order came out hot, fresh and tasty. When we finished we again had to ask for our check. It took another three minutes. When I paid the bill, the manager was on the cash register. I told him how poor the service was (two other customers who entered after us had to get the waitress to take their orders) and his single word response was "Oh." Stopped in here around 7 in the morning for a "quick" breakfast before my appointment nearby. I sat at the counter, thinking that would make it easier for the waitress. I ordered a small breakfast and it took over 20 minutes to cook it! I finally told the waitress I was ready to eat, and a bit testily she said the delay was because they're busy. I consider myself a fan of Dennys, they are a fine american institution, that is great for those late night cravings for sugar, fat and breakfast. I thought they would equally serve all people, but I guess I was wrong. One fine friday night, I was quite hungry after a night parousing the town. I entered this Denny's with my Spanish roommate, and we ordered a couple burgers. We were seated quickly to a table and placed our order. Upon sitting down, I immediately started throwing up on the tables, the floor, and the seats. For some reason, Denny's management took offense to this and decided to throw us out. I usually like this place because only old people and the random student will come here during the week in the mornings. Today I had a long convo with a woman who just wanted someone to talk to-- it was clear to me she suffered from untreated mental illness, but I have a heart for such persons so I entertain them for as long as I can. It was all fine except for the shitty service I received from this new crew of people I've never encountered in all the time I've been coming here, and their snotty attitudes. The server had an attitude because I was talking to the woman at all, as if she doesn't deserve to be treated with respect or to have a caring ear listen to her. I never was offered more coffee or juice, she came with my check soon after the woman joined me at my table. As I was paying my bill, the manager asked me if the woman was bothering me (yea, if she was bothering me, I wouldn't have stayed two hours speaking to her) and I said no, not at all. Some people are just lonely and need kind words, and I just have that kind of compassion for people. The server heard me (I was speaking in Spanish to her since I am a Latina and feel comfortable speaking to others in our native language) and said that if I want to be the restaurant psychologist they should be paying me. That was so rude and uncalled for, so the hell with her tip-- I usually tip well when the normal staff is taking my order, but this lady can go to hell. I hate to speak ill of my own people, but the sort of judgment cast against this poor Iranian woman is enough to make me never want to come back, unless it is the regular crew serving my table, because it is uncompassionate, hateful women like her that make our people look bad, and she doesn't deserve to have as great a job as a server with that crunchy azz attitude. Tasty and inexpensive can best describe the breakfast we recently had at this Denny's, which was a couple of blocks away from our hotel on Wilshire. We didn't go for the grand slams or any of the signature Denny dishes this time. My scrambled eggs and bacon were cooked to perfection, but Mr. K had a minor complaint about his fried eggs, which were slightly undercooked for his taste (he ate them anyway). The coffee hit the spot: Not too strong, just the way I like it. The waiter was attentive and friendly and kept the coffee cup filled. The bill was less than $17, including tip. The order was ready within a few minutes, we chowed down, and we were on our way for a day of sightseeing. read more

Horrible Service!!! I sat there for 15mins watching the hostess/floor manager have a convo with a co worker that was on break while this guy worked the floor. Needless to say there was maybe three other tables besides mine and one of them where about to leave. No water, no coffee or tea. And the hostess manager person made clear eye contact with me and still didn't alert anyone that she had seated another table. Unacceptable!!!! As a restaurant manager myself I would fire that hostess person. She was the one who clearly dropped the ball. When your location is empty you should be able to give the best service...
