Our bartender (who was perfectly friendly and helpful) said he needed his manager to get the free cocktail. To be clear, we had literally no interaction with this woman at any point. So it's not like we did something to piss her off. When she arrived at the POS station - behind the bar about six feet from where we were sitting - she proceeded to complain about the "a-holes" (edited for language) using the Passbook and what a bunch of a-holes those customers were (not knowing we were in earshot). And when the bartender - who knew who we were and that we could hear everything - said in a hushed tone "No, they were nice" she proceeded to tell him that she didn't care and that they're just a-holes. I've never been treated so shoddy in my life in a restaurant for no other reason than using a promotional discount that they voluntarily participated in. It's bad enough to attack your customers for using a discount. But doing it behind the bar where customers can hear you is beyond unacceptable. And doing it when the customers you're talking about are within earshot is the most offensive thing I've ever expereinced at a restaurant. You may go to Steuben's and have a nice meal, but just be aware that behind the bar, they're talking about what an a-hole you are.

My partner's food was undercooked: rare when requested well done and cold. How long did our food sit at the window? I sent back her food and ordered another breakfast sandwich in its place. We were excited to return Monday around 7:30. The restaurant was about half full and we waited at the host stand for a few minutes. Eventually someone walked by quickly, said "kitchens on a hold" and left. We assumed he was running to a table so we waited until he was able to return. He let us know that we could wait on the couches but they weren't serving food currently. We said ok, do you think it's going to be an hour? Two? Three? He briskly responded whenever the kitchen tells me and then left again. I get being in the weeds, and if the kitchen really wasn't able to take orders then I would get it. It's the fact that he didn't even wait for us to respond or offer to seat us at the bar so we could drink until they were ready. They clearly didn't want us to be there and didn't to make a sale. I think transparency with these forced gratuities/tips/charges would be great to prevent these surprise encounters, especially with to-go orders.
