what a pleasure our new association has been. from my initial telephone call to mr john stone, to today's 2nd opinion inspection by james, it has been top notch! on monday, another company that i have been dealing with for the past 5 or 6 years came out for their every-other-month inspect. in particular, i was concerned that my ducts possibly needed cleaning as i felt the house wasn't heating up in certain areas as well as in the past. on tuesday AM, i called john stone. he answered his own phone. it is always nice to not have to go through a receptionist, only to give all the same info again when the technician returns a call. by afternoon mr stone had reviewed the paperwork i had from the other company and had himself checked to see is i really did need an entire new heating system, to the tune of $10,900. he gave me his findings, and made me feel pretty comfortable that we weren't looking at anything like that in our near future. he recommended that he send another technician over to test for carbon monoxide throughout our home. the prior company had never done this. it is the indicator for a total heating system replacement. the appointment for the 2nd opinion was made by the office receptionist. this morning, friday, 01/30/15, james called to say he'd arrive by 8am. he was prompt, got his ladder, and went right to work. he too reviewed the paperwork from the other company. it was obvious, without either john or james saying a word, that my account was not being honorably handled by my prior heating & air company. we do not have leaks. we do not need a new heating unit for our 12+ year old home. all of this was beyond good news. the house was cooler a few weeks ago, because it was extremely cold outside. being stubborn, i hadn't adjusted my heater settings to accommodate the extra cold climate. i like small PG&E bills. we are cancelling our long standing relationship with Greiner Heating & Air as of today. i do not like being up-sold for no good reason, or worse yet, a manufactured one. i highly recommend Dependable for in our case, they were exactly that. it is a quality we don't experience often enough in 2015. read more

Dependable Heating Originally installed by Heating and Air Conditioning Unit in 2014 for my new construction home. Soon after we moved in we needed some minor repairs, One of the diffusers froze shut and the lower zone of the house could not get any air, this was replaced free of charge but i had to wait 3 days for Heating. Later that year we had a similar problem, turns out the wiring was backwards in the control panel, this one was also free however i had to argue with the technician to get this waived since both happened within the first year of service. Just this week Late Aug 2017 when the temperatures reached 115 degrees we noticed smoke coming from the blower motor. I paid their technician 95 dollars to diagnose that yes smoke was coming from the blower motor. Parts were under warranty but i would have to pay 350 for labor and since it was a warranty i had to wait one week for the new motor to come in. After the technician left I got a phone call from their office saying that the motor is actually 2 to 3 weeks out and if i wanted cooling in my house i would have to pay an additional 60 dollars for expedited shipping. I felt taken advantage of from the phone call alone. They were taking advantage of the circumstances of the weather and i will not be using Dependable Heating again. That same day i called a local competitor who helped me get everything fixed, quick and efficiently for 100 dollars less out the door, they also told me that had they installed the unit they would have waived their Diagnostics fee because they value their customer relationships. I am giving 2 stars because of the technicians that came to my house, all were professional and helpful. read more

Moved into an apartment who uses this company for their AC maintenance. Unit went out and there was a hole in it, so the first guy that came out detected that we needed the entire unit changed out. It took a week for them to get the unit, then they arrive to install it and then realize it is the wrong unit. We then had to wait another whole week to get the right one. The guy came out to install it and told me it would be max 2 hours to hook up and start. He was here for 6 hours and it was still not working even though he told me it would heat up later on. It never heated up nor came on when I turned it on. Apparently they were coming back out the next day to do finishing touches, that I was never told about the previous day, I was just informed it was working fine. He came out, for a few more hours, still not working. Called apartment manager to inform them of this and they made him come back out with them for another 2 hours. Got the AC to work (low on free-on) but not the heat and the guy was like ok thank you bye. What a joke, we will once again be calling the manager to get him out again, we don't want him out again, get someone who can fix it!!! Horrible service don't waste your time or money! read more

After exhausting all of the reasonable options with our current home warranty provider (their subcontractors had unacceptable timeframes and several did not even return our calls), we decided to go directly to Dependable to service our AC unit. It was over 100 degrees at the time and it had already been several days. James, the technician, was friendly, thorough, and knowledgeable. He called us before arriving, arrived on time, and was even mindful of our sleeping toddler. He asked us some questions before starting and seemed to have an idea of how to fix the issue right away. Sure enough his diagnosis was correct and he had the replacement part in his truck. He was very patient while we were on the phone with our home warranty provider filling out the paperwork. Called and left a message at 7 am on a Saturday morning for someone to return my call as soon as they could. My home air conditioning he'd quit Friday night and the temperature was supposed to reach 104 on Saturday. I've heard lots of horror stories from people who have waited weeks for a repair from other company's. To my surprise James returned my call around 10 that morning and said he had two jobs ahead of me but he would be out today. Jame showed up around 11:15 and had my air up and running before noon. Now that's service. James had a a fully equipped truck and was very professional while doing a diagnostic evaluation of the problem. I wouldn't hesitate to call Dependable Heating and Air Conditioning for any of my needs in the future. read more

I appreciate being able to choose my technician for my service appointments. I have gotten to know James over many years, and I can always count on him to call ahead of time, explain the work he is doing in terms that I can understand, and providing clear guidance when my approval is needed for a repair. Dependable Heating and Air have been servicing our three commercial buildings for several years and do an excellent job. The technicians including James who is great explain everything they are doing and try to save us from future expenses by being proactive when they see something happening with our units in each building. James discovered one of our units on the roof had froze up because some recent tenant improvements and remodeling on one unit had clogged up the filter and when he came out he immediately identified the problem which could have been so much worse and fixed it. I like that they send a picture of the technician that is meeting me so I feel comfortable as to who is showing up for our quarterly maintenance. read more

We have been using Dependable since 1985. When I added a second floor and expanded the living room at our previous house, Dependable installed a larger HVAC system that was 96% efficient. Dependable installed the HVAC system in our new house over 18 years ago. We upgraded the system to a two zone in 2006. In 2011, we had Dependable upgrade our HVAC system to an energy efficient system with two zones/two thermostats (two story house). It has worked flawlessly! We have had their two times per year service for many years. Brandon performed our service today and was very professional. He knows his "stuff." Their office staff and techs are outstanding. Normally their periodic service is outstanding. However, this time it must have been a new guy. I gave him 3 filters to replace, 2 downstairs and one in the attic. He changed the ones downstairs and gave me the old ones but he took the furnace filter into the attic but never brought down the old one. Not sure if it got changed or if he just left the old one in the attic. Also, when he went into the attic, he dropped insulation all over the hall floor. This is normal and the service rep normally vacuums it up before he leaves. Not this time. So, while normally I would give them a 5 star rating, this experience was less than satisfactory. read more

Installation was done to replace both, my furnace and AC last week. Two technicians came to do the replacement. They were very courteous, professional, and helpful. I'll definitely recommend Dependable to anyone for their excellent work. You always hear, installing a furnace and/or AC mostly is not about the best brand, but it's about the installer. Oh, by the way, you always check how long they have been in business, that's critical. I write an unfavorable review on Yelp because the tech on Friday changed a capictor and told us to get a new fuse and we would have heat. It didn't work and our house was 58 all weekend. Received a call from John on Monday morning at 8 am. He sent a tech out to check out our unit. He confirmed it was the compressor. They tried to jump start it but it was gone. John drove to Sacramento to purchase a new unit and installed it for us on Monday. We appreciated it very much . Thank you John. read more

It's important to get a good installer for a HVAC change out. We picked Dependable after interviewing a few. Glad we did. Tony and his crew are true professionals. Our job was not easy, interior furnace in a closet which needed a change out of the sheet metal to the second floor. They did a beautiful job getting old one out and new one in. We had a short circuit last week. We wanted to check if the bathroom exhaust fan was the reason for it. The person who came to verify it was very courteous and explained to detail about what might have gone wrong. He also checked and ensured that the exhaust fan was not the reason ! Highly recommended. Had an AC unit and coil installed on our existing furnace. Install was quick and went without any problems. Installers were very friendly and professional. About a week later had a problem and it turned out it was the condensate pump that was installed with our original furnace. Dependable came out within 2 hours and fixed the problem within 15 minutes.
