After 15 years of procrastinating and recharging the SZ532 frig (30 yrs old) with freon, I finally replaced the evaporator (cha-chang but less than 15k for a new frig). Ernie showed the difference between the old and new evaporators and where they fail. The old evaporator has elbow fitting at ALL of the core joints, this is where it fails (freon leak, icing inside in lower left of the frig), while the new evaporator is a one piece continuous core. What technician would show you the weakness of the frig, when it's their bread and butter. So, if you need to replace the evaporator, make sure it's the one piece design! It's all about his integrity and personality. Typical service of his, on time, friendly, clean, quick, and reliable..... there is nothing to complain about him. In the end, if you are still looking for a SZ technician this is the guy you want. You won't be disappointed. read more

If, like us, you have an older model Sub-Zero, these are the guys for the repair. Ernie coordinated and Jason came and efficiently put in a new evaporator, etc., which rehabbed the refrigerator - like it's nice to open the fridge door and not see a block of ice stuck to the back panel. The price was very reasonable, especially considering his expertise and the cost of a replacement. read more

I have an ancient Sub-Zero and we thought it's 30+ year run was finally over as the freezer wasn't staying cold. Unfortunately replacing our unit just doesn't mean shelling out cash for a new one, because of it's odd size it will require redoing our cabinetry as well. I have a SubZero refrigerator that was no longer getting cold. I tried calling repair companies but only one returned an email, and they couldn't help. I have been having trouble with water leaking out underneath my "650" Sub Zero. I have been looking for Ernie Sanchez for a couple of years since he no longer worked for Wilshire Refrigeration. When Ernie first serviced us in 2013 he was knowledgeable, congenial and got the Sub Zero company to provide free parts even though we were recently out of warranty. When I finally was able to "find" Ernie I asked that he come out to Monterey Park for servicing our Sub Zero. Instead of coming out he suggested a remedy of unfreezing the plugged drain line with hot water using a turkey blaster. Long story short, it worked. What a guy!! He determined what the problem was with our SubZero wine refrigerator and he suggested we call SubZero directly to see what they might be able to do for us. I called and though busy, they were diligent in calling me back and working to schedule a service call. i didn't tell him that he was a second opinion/bid at that point... after another company that turned out to just be a distributor of leads had sent over someone who gave me an estimate of $1625+ . I was resigned to having to pay in that ballpark becuase, well what do i know? To my surprise and great pleasure, not only did Ernie Sanchez work faster, his estimate to fix the fridge issues and the servicing he did came out to a total of just over $300 and the work was done in just about no time. That other outfit, Sunset, tried to rip me off for 5-6 times what it should have cost. Obviously i don't know much about appliances, and nor do most folks. Sticking with people one can trust makes for a better community, a more happy experience, and makes me want to be sure that the folks i deal with in business are always treated fairly and effectively. I called on a Saturday with an emergency. Water line to ice maker burst (I thought, turns out it was the valve). Nothing would make the water gushing stop so had to shut water off to house.
