Pre-Ordered two Pizzas and a couple of Calzones for a graduation party last weekend from the NP location on Smith St. The girls inside are insanely helpful and friendly and everything was fresh, hot and they had pre sliced the Calzones for serving (thanks!). Prices are ridiculously lower than their competitors (and I did check the day before prior to ordering). Wasn't much left post-party either besides a few slices of cheese so our guests clearly enjoyed the selection.

Two more legs of the RI Food Fights "Lord of the Pies" battle today (I love days off). First up, Depetrillo's Pizza and Bakery on Smith Street in North Providence. We got a pepperoni slice and a "home style" slice (grandma slice with grated cheese). Both were great, especially the grandma. I'm familiar with DePetrillo's because they have one in Coventry as well and it was very similar to my hometown one. The difference is that the one near me doesn't have slices or a fantastic slice like the grandma. When you consider that it's only $1.50, that's an exceptional deal if you're hungry. Look how thick that bad boy is! The owner was also super nice, friendly and heated everything up for us. I asked how many Food Fight people had been through and he pulled out a basket with about 140 coupons. He said he really enjoyed it because it brought in new customers and he met some nice people. Win/Win for everyone. EVERY other Depetrillo's needs to get on the old fashioned train. Verdict: Pepperoni: 8 Grandma: 8.5. Owner:10

Love their pizza strips! Dough is always crispy and sauce has a nice sweet taste. It's my go to when I get invited to a cookout. Half tray of red pizza (27 pieces) is $8.99. Their hot pizza is really good too!

Out doing errands and driving all over southern New England and needing a pick me up. In this case we wanted some freshly made and well baked. As we circled back in the home stretch, thpught where better that this institution! Picked up one spinach and two strombollis to go. Outstanding on every level and better than any bakery around! Stop by soon!! You will not be disappointed!

Haven't been here in a while and decided to stop in since I was in the area. Use to really enjoy - now just average. Customer service was friendly, but was really let down by the quality. Not rushing back anytime soon.

BEST pizza chips in RI. Crunchy and delicious. A little pricey but well worth it. Calzones are pretty good too.

The ones that have been a part of the community for decades or even longer. I'm a few blocks down the road from Sal's Bakery on Chalkstone in Providence. I made a side trip there yesterday on my way to work. Got some classic pizza strips, a piece of spinach pesto pizza and an Italian cold cuts calzone. The guy at the counter was super nice and when I told him it was my first time, that I lived nearby, he lit up sharing with me how everything is made in house fresh every day. And I could taste it in every bite. The sauce they make is thick but still maintains some of the bright acidity of the tomato. There's even little bites of tomato bits here and there that made it so good The spinach pesto pizza was a solid option, although I think it would be better warmed a little. Still delicious and decimated by yours truly. Finally the Italian cold cuts calzone was a thing of beauty. The outside was that crispy crunchy exterior but soft interior like good Italian bread. And a good amount of meat, they packed it in this baby! On top of all that, the price is incredible. You can find many places that charge less for such quality items. So if you're in my neighborhood, make sure to check it out! They have TWO parking lots, in the front to the left and in the back. Even with all the snow they had plenty of parking for customers. Top notch service!

The hospitality was down to earth and the neighborhood vibe resonated deeply. We felt like a local but were 1200 miles from home. The spinach pesto was very flavorful and the "plain" strips were satisfying. The cool temperature was just ok and not our favorite but we'll give that a pass due to the nature of the dish. We'll remember the lovely lady behind the counter fondly.

The first time I came, it was a rainy weekday and this time it was a sunny weekend, so I was expecting an even larger crowd; and my prediction was correct. The line was just out the door but because of their awesome staff, the line was moving very quickly. While we waited in line, we could watch them making pastries through the glass, a couple feet in front of us. I admired that level of transparency. When we were third in line, the kindest lady asked us whether we'd be eating in or taking out and she took down our name to help us find a table when it came time. She did the same for the rest of the people in line. She also gave us some recommendations, including the cinnamon bun - apparently they're so good kids cry when they sell out. I didn't intend to order anything with my drink, but I couldn't get the cinnamon bun out of my head so I ordered it along with my iced spiced chai latte. The hen (I think it's their logo) on the aprons of the employees are super cute. We did secure a table. The tables are close together to maximize the number of people who can sit down but I didn't mind. I love their art all around, mostly of birds which I am obsessed with. I love that they have a lot of natural lighting coming through their tall windows. I also like the navy blue and white theme they have going on. The chai latte was perfect. It was the right color (a dark tan), meaning the ratio of tea and milk was good and I could taste a lot of the spices. The cinnamon bun blew my expectations away. The second my teeth made. contact with the icing, it was a magical feeling. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it tasted like, but the closest I got was dulce de leche. It is truly unlike any other cinnamon bun I have ever had. The dough is soft and there is a good amount of cinnamon. It's also $4 which is not bad. I had a bite of their canelé, which apparently requires a lot of work to make. It was very moist, with a great caramelized finish. I am super excited to try their new weekend dinner menu, but also more of their all day menu items.

The snow made street parking a bit tricky, but thankfully there are a few parking spaces in the back of the building. Once inside, the bakery was lively and smelled absolutely delicious. There was a great selection of fresh artisan breads to choose from. I ended up with the durum loaf, which was perfect since I planned to make an olive oil dipping sauce. The bread was exactly what I hoped for crusty on the outside, soft on the inside, airy with a mix of large and small holes, and full of flavor. I also couldn't resist picking up two Valentine heart sugar cookies with jam because they were just too cute. The only minor downside was that the employee who helped me wasn't very smiley. Not rude at all, and my order was handled quickly, but it felt a bit different from the warm cafe vibe you might expect. Prices are higher than if you went to a mom and pop bakery but this was expected. Overall, a great stop for quality bread.
