Today I picked up a Margherita pizza, half with eggplant. It was packed on a Friday night but my pick up order was still ready earlier than expected - their online ordering process is so easy to use! The crust was fluffy and I actually wanted to eat it unlike most crusts. It was tasty and I love how they do the thinly sliced eggplant pieces, but I ordered this because the photo on their website showed more cheese than is usual for a Margherita pizza, which was enticing, but what I got did not have nearly as much cheese on it. This felt a little misleading and bummed me out, but it was fresh and good otherwise. read more

I got the hot Roni pizza; how it came. This is seriously some of the best pizza I've ever had. Perfect amount of sauce and cheese, pepperoni, basil, and I swear there's honey on it too and it pairs so well with the other flavors. I am very happy with this order. I will be back! I was in Bristol tonight to help my grandmother finish her holiday decorating and we decided to get pizza for dinner. For those paying attention - yes I did have pizza for breakfast, lunch and dinner today. After listing off the many awesome options this town has - Brick, Leo's, Nello's, Bristol House of Pizza, we settled on Pio's. Pio's is a pizza place born from Pomodoro, Bristol's most popular Italian restaurant, where the demand for their quality, hand tossed pies grew larger than the tiny restaurant could handle. So they opened a pizza and grinder shop a few blocks up the road. You walk into the place and it feels like it's trying to be a more hip version of a neighborhood spot. There's a small bar and a few tables for dining in. It was bustling for a Wednesday night, people were coming in and out to pick up dinner on their way home. Back at my grandmother's, we enjoyed the pizza together. The crust has a crunchy exterior soft and chewy interior. Holds up well, no flop for those who care. Toasty notes from the cornmeal mix used to keep the pies from sticking as they bake. The sauce savory but a thinner layer, I personally would order extra sauce next time as that's my preference. Tasting it you can tell they didn't just open up some cans and season it, this is a sauce cooked with intention, a deep rich tomato taste only achieved by simmering for hours The toppings are clearly fresh, no canned mushrooms here and hand cut bacon bits. The cheese was salty and stretchy. The bacon lent a smoky taste and the mushrooms added an earthiness that took the taste to a different level, various flavor notes dancing across your palate in every bite. Located in a gray-sided building with a modest storefront, it doesn't announce itself with a splash - just a simple red and green sign promising pizza, which is exactly what it delivers. We visited Pio's after a morning at the bowling alley, celebrating my father's 86th birthday. Bristol itself is a town of contrasts - historic sea captain homes alongside working waterfronts, the gleaming prestige of Roger Williams University next to time-honored local businesses that have endured decades of coastal New England seasons. Although it is much newer, Pio's fits right in with that unpretentious character. Inside, R&B music fills a space that's both modern and nostalgic. The walls are covered with nostalgic wallpaper featuring vintage Italian advertisements - Campari, Cinzano, Nutella - creating a colorful backdrop to the black metal chairs and red tabletops. Edison bulbs hang over the wooden counter where a "Welcome Pizza Lovers" neon sign glows beside coolers stocked with Smartwater and Coca-Cola products. The menu is straightforward - hand-tossed pizzas, Italian grinders, and salads. Noth8ng fancy, no pretense. We ordered a pepperoni and olive pizza, served on green-and-white checkered paper. The crust truly was the star - chewy and flavorful with a dusting of flour that speaks to its handmade character. It varied in thickness, thinner in the middle and fuller at the edges, evidence of its hand-tossed preparation. The sauce brought brightness and bold flavor to each bite, though the cheese and pepperoni were more supporting players than standouts. But the quality of ingredients was evident, and the overall balance made for a satisfying, filling meal. What stands out most was the atmosphere - bright, happy, comfortable. The service was genuinely friendly without being overbearing. We never felt rushed, even after we'd finished our food but weren't ready to end our visit. The staff allowed us the space to linger and enjoy unhurried conversations, something increasingly rare in today's dining scene. It was the perfect setting for our small family gathering - my father celebrating his 86th year with his sons, everyone enjoying good food in good company. Pio's captures Bristol's spirit perfectly. It's not trying to be anything other than what it is: a place where the pizza is made with care, the environment is welcoming, and conversations flow easily over good food. Make this a 4.5! This is a very cute pizzeria, with a few tables for eat in service. I was here in the middle of the afternoon, on a Monday, and the amount of take out was crazy! After eating, I now know why ! I had an eggplant Parm sandwich, which was awesome! Cooked old school, not greasy, just enough of San Marzano sauce. I switched out provolone for fresh, very stringy mozzarella! So, so good! My friend had their new Detroit style pizza. She loved it, I believe it was Buffalo chicken. I am looking forward to coming back here. It would definitely be worth the ride as far as I'm concerned!! read more

I wanted to try this place until they opened as I loved the pizza Pomodoro's. The reviews weren't as great as I thought we tried them anyway on a Friday night. I attempted to place an order online and when I went to check out, the order wouldn't go through. I ended up calling and they had a shut off online order because they were so busy. I ordered the pizza online and it took about an hour. It's really nice inside, the girl at the register was super nice. The place was packed, except the bar. I love the look of everything in there, they did a really good job. We got a small Margherita pizza and it was really good. The pizza crust was very good, crunchy and not too doughy. The toppings were also just enough. I didn't really like the sauce, it was probably the worst part of the pizza although it was still just tasted like plain tomato paste. I definitely like to go back and try a different type of pizza. I'd recommend checking it out. read more

Had the hot roni last night, and not only was it delicious, but it looked just like their marketing photo. We both gasped when the box opened and our jaws dropped! First time customer, ordered online, informed 30-45 minute pickup, 55 minutes later it was done! Very simple format inside, but big problem, wait area for pickup is right near the front and only door so you have a jam session with confusion! There were so many Donna's and Tony's that ordered they had to ask for phone number confirmation to avoid issuing the wrong orders. The food was outstanding, I can't believe they got my order right! Almost $60 for 2 pizzas! And they were not good! Figured I would try them but that was a waste of my hard earned ! Won't go again

First off I've had the pizza at pomodoro and I was surprised at how much thinner the crust was on the Pio's. Ordered 2 small pizzas, cheese and pepperoni and caprese. The cheese and pepperoni was passable taste wise but very greasy. The box and paper inside was saturated and leaked with every bite. The caprese was not good at all. Every caprese pizza I've ever ordered came with sliced tomatoes. The tomatoes on this pizza were definitely canned diced tomatoes. When I opened the box I initially thought they gave me the wrong pizza, looked like a bbq pizza. I had to move the toppings around to even find the tomatoes and the balsamic glaze was too heavy handed. I was also going to order a salad but the menu does not offer any proteins to add which I found odd. Overall I'm one and done. I'll stick to my favorite Classic Pizza. read more

Can we collectively beg them to bring back the pizza that they served at Pomodoro's? Pomodoro had the best pizza in town, which seemed to be the reason to open Pio's in the first place, but this pizza is completely different and SO disappointing in comparison. The dough has no taste and is extremely chewy, we ate the toppings off and threw away the crust. I hate to leave a bad review on a local small business, but hopefully they can bring back the amazing pizza they became known for! read more

Three strikes for Pio's. I won't be back. Something happened on the way to Metacom Avenue from Wood Street. The pizza is flat, tasteless and greasy. Are you proofing your dough? The dough was hard and the pizza as thin as the cardboard box it came in. So disappointing. read more

The grinders and pizza's are great but had a bad service experience. Phone ordered a Mediterranean salad with added chicken and a bunch of other items for pick-up. The person who took the order clearly didn't know how to enter items with additions into the system. Food was thankfully ready on time, which was great, but was a bit disappointed to see 15% to 25% tip options on the CC checkout machine for a pick-up order. Could have declined the tip or made a lower amount but that would have made me feel like a jerk if I did, so 15% it was. So, get home and no chicken on the salad even though it's on the CC slip. Called them and she was apologetic and said that I could come back for a remade salad, come back for the missing chicken, or get a refund for the $8 worth of chicken. I chose the refund to avoid driving back and forth again. So, as soon as I chose the refund I was told by her, that she didn't know how to do that and would need to speak to the manager who stepped out. I said, OK, talk to the manager when she get back, thanks. Guess what, no refund, no call back. I like the food from Pio's more than from a couple other local pizzeria's but they need to get their act together on the order taking and fulfillment and when they make a mistake, fix it.
