And got a strawberry pineapple lemonade to wash it down. After passing Derita Dairy Bar numerous times, was finally able to try them out. I got the double burger with a side of fries and a drink. The burger was amazingly good and added a bunch of sides - grilled onions, peppers, mushrooms, chili, cheese, jalapeños and an egg. Sounds like a lot, but it was so messy and great, just how I like it! And the fries were seasoned perfectly! It's located at the intersection of Sugar Creek and Mallard Creek and is easily accessible. There is a parking lot/spaces right in front of the order window, but more parking available on the side of the building. Try them out if you're in the area! What a gem of a place disguised as a hole in the wall off a small strip mall on W Sugar Creek Road! It's a small walk up window where you order. There is no place to sit and eat so think of it as a grab n' go. They are only open for lunch and dinner, and not late dinner so you have to plan appropriately to make it during their business hours -- 11am-7pm! They are also closed Sunday and Monday so keep that in mind! I came towards the end of the day on a Tuesday around 6pm (they close at 7pm) and I did have to wait for about 30 mins total. There was one person in front of me and we waited about 5 mins to order and then once we ordered it took about 25 mins. There were several people waiting in their cars that had already ordered, which to me a wait is a good sign... people don't wait around for bad food! I have heard they have quite the line of people typically lining the sidewalk on a regular basis so I know I'm lucky it was only a 30 min wait as it sounds like it can be much longer! So what I'm saying is... be prepared to wait, but don't fret -- it's definitely worth it! I know what you're thinking... can we just skip to the good part already -- THE FOOD!!! Ok here we go, I ordered the DBG Burger with fries and a drink. I customize my burger do you have cheddar cheese, pickles and onions and for my drink option I went with the pineapple lemonade (and yes that pineapple lemonade was as good as it sounds!) -- The burger was good! Loved how the onions were diced, but the flavor wasn't too strong. I asked for extra pickles and got them! Cheese was fully melted. Not to mention the bun had a little salt on it spicing up the flavor. All in all it was a good burger. I'm not big on fries, but DANG! I couldn't get enough of the seasoning on them! Finally, the Pineapple Lemonade was so delicious, it is NOT to be skipped! The staff was so pleasant and super nice! Driving by, it can be easily missed if you're not paying attention. There is no dine in seating or restaurant. It's only a walk up window where you order and a separate window for pick up. There is a small area next to it that you can park at to eat in or outside your car if you're not wanting to take up the parking spaces in front. The team at Derita Dairy Bar was great! Greeted with a smile and positive attitude from the beginning. The team was thorough in explaining the menu and all the different options. I loved that when asked which shake we should try, they walked us through all the different cakes they had, toppings, etc. And the fact that they were excited about them. It's great to experience the excitement people have when talking about their business to customers. As for the food... Delicious! The burgers were seasoned well and even my husband said they were good (he's a tough critic when it comes to burgers). We got the pineapple lemonade drink and Nana Puddin' shake. Both delicious. My one area for improvement would be the straws for the shake! Hear me out... The shake was thick and the straw was way too narrow! Especially since there were chunks of bananas and vanilla wafers, there was no way I was getting that goodness from that straw. Maybe a boba style straw?! I was soooo excited to be near Derita today so we made a quick trip here to order dinner. So I ordered my hubby's entree online as I alredy knew what burger I wanted. I paid for his chicken sandwich and milkshake and upon arrival I ordered a cheeseburger with bacon! We waited over 25 minutes for our food, thankfully my toddler sons were alseep in the car! I'll say my cheeseburger was good but the fries and my husbands chicken sandwich were a fried almost to a burnt crisp. I can't say enough good things about this place. It's located in a small strip mall and while It's to go order only the food is to die for. They have a vast menu but simple. You can get nachos, wraps, burgers or hot dogs. All side items are upgradable as well. I was eyeing the Philly cheese fries but asked the very helpful and super friendly cashier who walked me through some of the most popular items. Those being the Buffalo chicken nachos and Philly cheese fries. I ordered a bologna sandwich and upgraded Philly cheese fries. My wife got a regular burger and fries and chocolate milk shake which she loved. This little restaurant reminds me of a huge upgrade to a Dairy Queen. Their menu is similar, but the food is so much better. Covid-19: there is no indoor portion to this restaurant. It was dripping in sauce and so flavorful. The fries were incredible. I loved the seasoning and they had real pieces of bacon on them. They didn't even need the toppings, but I certainly enjoyed them. As far as desserts go, I loved the Saturday Morning shake. It's a Fruity Pebbles shake and how can you go wrong with that? I was not a fan of the caramel apple sundae. I liked the soft serve, but the topping tasted like canned pie filling and wasn't good in my opinion. After I saw Jacqueline T's pic of that hot honey chicken sandwich, I knew I had to have it. The sandwich has two huge tenders with crispy crunchy skin and drenched in a sauce of your choice. So darn good. One thing to note: the bun was soggy by the time we got home. I don't eat buns, so it wasn't an issue for me, but something to keep in mind if you do. The sweet lady at the counter said new owners as of about 3 years ago. Y'all be sure to visit and often to support their business & keep it running through these strange times. And the sweet lady taking the orders is so helpful, she even asked if I wanted light ice in my tea which was greatly appreciated. The light ice kept the tea cold and from being watered down on the drive back to the office. Let's talk about these fries! Delicious. Plentiful. Hot. Seasoned & Salty, in a good way. So don't be mistaken, the fries are plentiful. There are a handful missing in the picture. I ate a few in the car on the ride back. Couldn't resist. I've eaten here twice before and both times were great. So this past weekend I decided to order from Derita Dairy Bar via door dash. I ordered the newly added Sticky Nuggz Box to try for the first time but I was extremely disappointed. Despite every picture of this product having fries on the side I received a lot of tortilla chips with a tiny amount of what appeared to be old cheese. I didn't order nachos and anticipated fries being the side but if they had normal melted cheese as I've seen them ordered before I would have been okay with that. I'm not sure if someone was in a rush this day or what happened but for $11 this was extremely disappointing. Not to mention I ordered chocolate ice cream but got vanilla ice cream. There is nothing better than finding a hidden gem when you least expect it, as this place deserves each and every one of the five stars I am giving it, no doubt about it. From the moment I walked up to the window to place my order, I felt like family as the young lady who took my order welcomed me with a smile that would light up even the darkest room. She seemed genuinely happy to have me as a customer and was the definition of five star service from start to finish. Now, don't go expecting white tablecloths and fine china, as this is a walk up window takeout only place, but the food and service was better than many so called five star places. This just goes to show that you should never judge a book by its cover or else you could miss out on some pretty good food as the fries were seasoned with a sweet and salty seasoning that was pretty amazing and the burger was way better than anything you would find at most restaurants with burgers on the menu. Decided to try this hidden gem that's not too far from my house and I'm so excited we have something so delicious so close. I ordered at the window and waited around 10-15 minutes for my amazing tenders to come out. The cashier was so polite and gave me so many delicious sounding recommendations. I ordered the Pineapple Teriyaki Tenders which reminded me of the sauces of the wings at my fave bar in Columbia SC-The Salty Nut. The seasoning on the fries is banging, it has a hint of sweetness and just enough salt. Can't wait to go back and try a burger and one of their beautiful shakes. She gave me suggestions and cracked jokes during my time spent at the ordering window. I got the fried chicken sandwich with spicy honey and fries. For dessert I had a Saturday Morning milkshake. I absolutely loved the food however the milkshake was not my favorite. It's vanilla ice cream mixed with fruity pebbles. Great concept but once cereal is soggy, it's a no go for me. The food is good but they definitely need to work in the business side of things. The last two times I've been here I wasn't able to get serviced. The first time I discovered that they stop taking orders some time before their actual closing time. Idk the exact time but I arrived up 20 minutes before closing. The second time I walked up to a sign on the window stating that they are only taking orders via food delivery apps. I'm definitely not paying extra fees to pick my food up, that's crazy. I visited this place today and was excited. The walk up window was booming. Pretty busy with customers but there was a clear system and the wait wasn't long. I rushed my order because the person at the window had to make a run to the bank but i would of asked more questions about the menu and probably got ice cream and pineapple lemonade. But next time. What i did get was shrimp & hush puppies and veggies over rice. Both pretty good. The veggie plate definitely could be even better with a protein but i opted not to since i was already getting shrimp. The dumyum sauce is pretty good and spicy. Overall i can't wait to go back! I truly enjoyed this Derita neighborhood staple. The staff were nice, the food was comforting and delicious and it was also quick. We have had the grilled chicken sandwich, the Saturday morning milkshake, the Philly cheese fries, wings and the fried pork chop sandwich. I was not disappointed by anything. I love fried pork chops and theirs was crispy and tasty. The Saturday Morning milkshake has fruity pebbles in it. It was amazing. We also really liked the fries.
