I've tried many items over many trips at Dervish, and it is definitely my FAVORITE Turkish restaurant in North Jersey. We've gotten their mixed platters (for 2 and for 4 in a bigger party) which always includes lamb chops, chicken chops, doner, shish kebab, chicken kebab, Adana and a Turkish meatball alongside rice/bulgur and cheesy bread, red cabbage pickle, and salad. Always fantastic with meats cooked to utter perfection. We've also tried the yogurtlu doner with tomato sauce which is solid, but not my fav. Shepherds salad seems unassuming but is FANTASTIC. Hummus is mid-tier but passable. Adana Kebab is absolute perfection and a little spicy and delivers very well too. We also tried their onion kofte kebab special which I wasn't sure about at first since I'm not a huge fan of lamb that tastes like lamb but it grew on me fast -- a little sweet and sour, tangy, and extremely rich from the fattiness in the meatballs. Truly a perfect plate, though perhaps not everyone's cup of tea. The service is always attentive and not overbearing. The restaurant is massive, clean, and always has patrons -- very cute interior and lots of booth options (yay!) Desserts are solid though I feel they are a touch overpriced. I enjoyed the ice cream and the lava cake. Dervish has become a staple in our comfort food rotation. read more

Went here with friends for dinner, had to try it out. It's BYOB and has plenty of parking. It's just off then service road, you can't approach direct from 46 East. Our server Atahan was very attentive and Helpful. We were definitely not rushed. The place gets very loud from being busy and I feel that's always a good sign. Everything we ate we enjoyed and was delicious. The onion kebab was piping hot and the Coban Kavurma was especially tasty. If you want delish food in a great atmosphere this is the place to go! Visited this restaurant for the first time. I will say that the food was good. Everything had good flavor. We were a group of 6 and we had 2 onion bowls, a mix grill for 3, kiymali pide, findik lahmacun, phyllo scrolls, and some drinks. The service overall was good but we were visiting at the end of eid so it was busy. So the food temperatures were not the same. Everything came out hot except the mix grill which had the most food and food variety. We also had ask about 1 dish that we ordered and never received, which they thought was given to us. The restaurant itself is large with seating to accommodate, the decor is done nicely. I would visit again because the food tasted good. But advocate for yourself if there is a problem. read more

I have multiple customers in the area so I'm consistently in Wayne, NJ and recently discovered Dervish. The staff is outstanding and the food supports the amazing staff they have. I've been here multiple times in a short span. I love mediterranean food and dervish is one of the best restaurants in this category. The prices are completely fair restaurant is very large. This is a hidden gem, I work on the road and had to stay at the hotel next door., from the time I pulled up the grill smelling was amazing. After I checked in I had to explore where the wonderful aroma was coming from. When I went into the establishment the host was very pleasant. I placed my order that was the Dervish Combo which consisted of 1 lamb chop, 1 donar kebab, 1 chicken kebab ,1 lamb kebab,1 Turkish meatball with white rice, salad and red cabbage food was perfectly seasoned and the service was good. Wow, my husband and I have been putting off coming here and finally decided to come one day for lunch. We weren't having high expectations but the food, ambience and service all 5 stars. We ordered babaganoush and ezme for mezze which came with bread, chicken adana, and shepherd's salad the first time. It was so good and fresh. It was so good we had to come back the following week for lunch again and ordered mezzes, ottoman salad, and branzino. We looooved the ottoman salad more than shepherd and everything else! Walking into 100% instagram vibes might give you pause because how could the food possibly be good? Well, it is. I got the lamb chops cooked medium rare and they were so tender, juicy, and flavorful. Cooked perfectly and no gamey-ness at all. Spicy onion salad and rice completed the experience. Wonderful hummus with veggies for dip as well as cucumber tomato salad. Visited 04/17/2025 Great ratings and love of all things Mediterranean brought us here and I'm sure we'll be going back. We have a couple of great Mediterranean restaurants near and far. Dervish is new, so we just had to try it. Our server (Muhi) was very friendly and informative. Sold us on a dessert that we didn't need... but was pretty wonderful. Everything we had and shared was very good. The hummus, Tabouleh, Lebni and the mixed grill were all dishes we would order again. The Pistachio Kunefe that Muhi talked us into was pretty amazing. (after googling what was in Pistachio Kunefe, I still don't know what the recipe is, except to say it was amazing.. Triple Crown winner. The food was delicious and true to Turkish cuisine. Rarely do you find a restaurant where every dish served is truly fresh. We were a party of six and we ordered multiple appetizers to share and one was better than the other. The dinning room although large was very comfortable and well appointed. I've been to the cedar grove location but when the craving stuck but no reservations were available, we decided to try the Wayne location. This was just as great as the original location! The restaurant is beautiful and very well kept. A lot of thought went into this design. The food was outstanding. The Turkish pizza is also a must for me here. Crunchy, flavorful, and satisfying. We also split the mixed meat platter for 2. This is the move if you want to try a little bit of everything on the menu. Everything was tender and cooked to perfection. Looking for new restaurants to try n stumbled upon dervish. We went to the Wayne location. The location is a lil tricky as it's next to quality inn on Rt 45 East n can only gain access thru the Rt 46 east service road right after willowbrook mall. Quite a big Lovely clean nicely decorated restaurant w friendly welcoming staff. Plenty of parking. We had the lentil soup which was ok. Needed some salt n pepper. Also had the Beyran soup. It's a meat soup w shredded lamb n rice. Something different n tasted good although it needed salt n pepper. We also tried the Muhammara n fried calf liver. Muhammara was dry n disappointing. The calf liver was tasty n cane w a red cabbage Cole slaw n onions n cucumbers. Was good,generous portions, For entrees we had the sultans delight n lamb gyro, the sultans delight was v good w chunks of lamb n mashed eggplant. The lamb gyro was good but disappointing as there was no yoghurt sauce to go w it. Asked the waiter n he said it doesn't come w any sauce but we requested the yoghurt sauce n the red sauce n he obliged. Portions are big so we have leftovers for Sunday lunch. And maybe Monday lunch too. Noticed on the check that 18% service charge was added. We were just 2. V unusual. Not sure why they do it as I have not seen this in any other restaurants. On a second visit over the weekend, food was not close to our first visit. Vegetables were burned, meet was tough and service very slow. First visit - 4.5 stars. Reading reviews, how it is the best food ever, best service ever or small portions and below average service, I was expecting a letdown. We visited Turkey multiple times, dined at many Turkish restaurants. This was one of the best Turkish food we tried. Everything came out piping hot. Calf liver, lahmacun, lamb shish kebob, eggplant kebob, mozzarella pide, beyran soup - all delicious. Main course - large portions. To me just a little under seasoned. But beyran soup was fatty, hot and really salty, which I love. Very friendly and prompt service. Beautiful ambience and a guy proposed and sang a beautiful song. What are the chances to see this on Thursday night. Only dish that did not work for me was fried calamari. Good experience, will definitely return. read more

One thing was when I ordered the Turkish coffee, I was asked "one shot or two " and they brought it in espresso cups instead of the traditional Turkish ones. Lamb and rice with salad is okay, not the best. Salad is quite subpar standards, extremely plain and tasteless. Kitchen should not be lacking in the flavor area at all but they did. The whole onion mixture on the side as well is a bit too much onion, they should start taste test menu items before serving it. Service is better than the food really... had only two hiccups with staff not being attentive on duty, but otherwise alright. Lentil soup did not taste traditional, tasted like a lot of tomato paste if anything. Hoping to see improvement on how the food is presented and the taste the next time I come in, especially with the high price point of the menu items I ordered. Loved the simplicity and clean ambiance. The service was really good, they recommended we try the calf liver fry which was superb, no smell(I sometimes can't eat liver if it has a peculiar unavoidable smell) but this one was very well prepared and seasoned just right! I was very lucky the other night when friends suggested this restaurant to take me out for my birthday. This restaurant was fantastic. The food was fantastic. I had the lamb shank covered in eggplant. It was outrageous. We had a few appetizers as well. They were also really incredible. In a addition to the food being great, the atmosphere in the restaurant is like none I've ever seen. They have these beautiful flowering trees all over the restaurant in whites and pinks. Even the textured walls were exquisite. The chairs by each table were different colors but all coordinating colors. They were beautiful and comfortable. The staff was very attentive and very professional. All in all this Restaurant checked every box and is a place i would love to visit again. Food was very fresh. The serving sizes are generous. The Falafel balls are a little light on spices compared to other places, but again, very fresh. The baklava they make is a 10 out of 10. You can tell this stuff doesn't sit very long. The custard desert isn't my speed. I prefer crème brûlée. Might have paired well with a cappuccino, but I didn't order or ask what the coffee options were. Looks like a good local spot.
