    Vegan deep dish

This spot has some delicious deep dish vegan pizza! The saucy has a nice bite and they use some wonderful plant based cheese that melts on perfectly. It is a pretty penny but it's a treat so worth it. I added black olives, roasted garlic and red onion which is always my go to. It is perfect! Plus it is massive! You end up with a rectangle pizza with about 8 slices. The thing must have weighed 15 lbs too! My partner ordered and picked up so I can't say what it's like inside and what the service was like, but I bet it's worth it all!

350 pm, Wednesday, August 20, 2025 I just snuck in to order the daily special (slice, salad, drink) for $10.99. First time here so might as well try the combo. I asked for the most popular slice (Grandma), a house salad with balsamic. The self serve fountain is around the back, lol. I've always wondered about this place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm unsure if they have a full size dining room! Seems like a place that is mainly for take out but has 4 petite booths.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked the head honcho for more info and he said there's an outdoor patio too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ooh baby! That slice hit the spot! It was warmed up. I believe and still had a bit of crispiness on the crust. The house salad was great too with the balsamic dressing tossed together. Shoot, next time I'm here for a somewhat quick service at Electric Ave I am returning to Tomato Pie for the daily deal! It hit extra good cause I've been avoiding fast food for a long minute.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Solid pizza joint with a nice diner aesthetic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Fast service. Check out the art store nearby too :)

We've been on a mission to find good pizza in LA and this one has been added to that list! I'd actually give it a 4.5. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the old school diner feel inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not much seating but they have an outdoor area with a bunch of bunches as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff were really nice and gave us suggestions on what to try and the drink specials. We are the Traditional Cheese , Grandma , Really Really Funghi , Syracuse, Utica slices. They were all good but the Syracuse, Grandma, and Utica were the best and I highly recommend. We'll definitely be back.

My sister was raving about this place, I actually had no intention of coming here today but saw it while driving and was like ooohhhhh Snappppp it's right there! And turned in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is small and cozy, parking lot is perfect size for the shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I went inside I was greeted right away. I ordered the Utica deep dish square and the fungi fungi slice. They heated it up perfectly and the Utica was super yummmmmy! Buttery and crispy crust and super flavorful. The fungi one was loaded with mushrooms and veggies and pesto that was super yummy too. Can't go wrong with anything you order everything looked bombbbbb! Make sure you give this place a try it's definitely worth it!

This is probably my favorite pizza joint in the city if I'm being honest. I come here with my partner at least once a month to split a whole pizza to share. I usually get the Miss Green and he gets The Primo and boy let me tell you it always hits. They're very consistent here when we come to eat so I appreciate that very much. The crust is always crunchy and thin ( makes me think I'm not eating too much carbs, but I highly doubt it). When you order, you order in front where the cash register is and they will provide you a number so they know where to place your order if you're eating in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is a casual spot to eat, nothing formal, but you get to have one of the best pizza's in the city.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It may be hard to find because it's in the corner or a bending street.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The parking lot is small too, so if you can find street parking that's the way to go!

Some people call me a space cowboy, some people call me a fat kid who loves pizza more than he loves cake. Tomato pie slings affordable, filling slices with unique, extremely vegetarian friendly flavors. My favs include: * Mr white - it's like Michael Jackson but you want it. If you love cheese and garlic, but want to go past the mozzarella, this one is for you. * blanco veggie - it's like the the mr white, but I want to pretend I care about fiber and my health. you're probably the person that considers the cilantro on a katsu sando as ruffage * miss green - you love pesto pasta, but wished it was a pizza * really really funghi - this guy is invited to every single rager I'm every throwing. hands down the best pizza they throw here. it's easier to catch a mew on the first try with a regular poke ball than find this behind the slice cage. I'm glad I make those big bucks now so that I can just buy an 18 inch instead of meal prepping for the week. p.s. did you know you can freeze pizza slices individually in foil and then air fry to crispy perfection at 400F for 6 mins in your air fryer. don't thank me, buy someone that needs it a slice and pay it forward.

Garlic Knots: 1/5 Tomato Pie: 2/5 Bbq Chicken: 5/5 Employees: 5/5 [[HIGHLIGHT]]Clean: 5/5[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking: 5/5 16th of August 2025 Took so long for the garlic knots to come out and they were tasteless. The sauce was watery. The tomato pie pizza had cold sauce on it yet the crust was warm and delicious. The bbq chicken pizza was my favorite and very tasty.

Fantastic slices of pizza! Reminded of a local shop in New York and gives a nice solid flavor with their sauce. Here in silver lake they sell by the slice and also whole pies. I prefer by the slice so I can try different styles . I got the pepperoni, Utica, and bbq chicken. Service was very friendly and gave some good suggestions so I decided to try all 3 slices. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance also was very chill and laidback.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They call your name once you order your pizza then go to the patio or back home to eat it.

Welcome to Tomato Pie Pizza Joint.

Generally, LA is not known for great pizza until now. Tomato Pie Pizza Joint (est 2006) is corner pizza joint that makes the perfect NY-Style pizza in Silverlake. They have two other locations: So.Pasadena and Woodland hills. As far as I can remember I have driven past by this place going to work for years. But today is the day I checked it out. I arrived as a first time customer. I was warmly greeted by Cesar, staff, at the counter. I told him that it was my first time at this joint and he explained to me the pizza slices they have. I perused their menu (pizza, pastas, subs, appetizers, salads) and decided to get a slice of Mr. White (Garlic olive oil, oregano, romano, ricotta, parmesan & mozzarella cheese), reg Cheese pizza and bottled water. He was kind enough to give a complimentary pizza The Grandma (crushed tomato, garlic, basil, light mozzarella & our original pecorino romano crust) pizza, as a first time customer. I was grateful! Pizza was flavorful and its crust was great. It's exactly the kind of NY style pizza taste that I'm accustomed growing up in NYC. Service was great. Staff were friendly. Atmosphere was relaxing. Their sleek interior 60's design definitely stands out compared to other pizza joint in LA. Prices seem fair. Overall, I loved every pizza moment. I highly recommend them.

I ordered to-go and the wait time was pretty quick. I ordered a half & half (grandma and florentine). The grandma was a great basic plain pizza, but the florentine surprised me in a good way. I loved the flavor of all the vegetables together and would definitely order entire pizza of this next time! And don't miss out on the garlic knots- they're great with the gooey melted cheese and pesto! There's a small parking lot otherwise it's street parking.

Ask the Community - Tomato Pie Pizza Joint

Are there vegan pizzas here? I see vegan cheese but no mention of fully vegan pizzas.

    Yes.

Does anyone know what their vegan cheese is made with?

I believe they use Daiya Cheese. Their sauce is so delicious and you can get veggies if you don't like Daiya Cheese.

    Is the cheese cashew-based?

    No

The decor inside was cute and unique, with an area of the wall displaying their certificates from the city. There is also a good size patio and a small parking lot for guests. We came in shortly after they opened for the dinner shift so our server was a nice lady who ended up being the owner's sister. She was very attentive and friendly. To start off, we ordered some $9 cocktails and $11 martinis on their Happy Hour. For an appetizer we enjoyed the Insalata Cesare, which was simple yet tasted unique and delicious. For our mains we ordered the Pappardelle Alla Domenica and Beef Lasagna. The Pappardelle Alla Domenica is a must try, being advertised as Mamma's special that was featured in the Los Angeles Times. The sauce was light, yet garlicky and packed with flavor from the sausages. Also the Beef Lasagna was delicious with a nice ratio of all the layers.

The one nice thing I have to say is that the bread was yummy and warm. I was very delighted by that. Other than that, I'm bummed to say: their house wine is $16(!) a glass, the caprese was only kinda decent - the tomato was cold/ refrigerated and had no taste. I also ordered a vegetarian lasagne (I'm a vegetarian) that I was happy to see on the menu, but then they served me the meat one. It wasn't until I was able to get a straight answer from the second server I asked that I was able to confirm they served me the wrong one. The veggie lasagne had potential but it was absolutely smothered in soooooo much cheese (yes even for a lasagne) that it truly felt like a thick stringy choking hazard - the cheese became super tacky/sticky. I did not find that their food quality matched their prices. I truly don't understand how they have such a good rating, so I came here to give my honest assessment for future patrons to weigh as well.

I feel the seating was a little tight in certain areas put they did make clear walking paths. Traffic to get here was horrible but we got lucky and found a non-metered spot about a block away as soon as we arrived in the area. For apps, we ordered the garlic bread and meatballs. The garlic bread was different. It was a sourdough loaf with oozing garlic butter inside but was only toasted whole so overall ate very soft and I missed the typically toastiness I get with most garlic bread. The flavor was still very good, especially dipping it into the marinera that accompanied the meatballs. For entrees and sides, we ordered the lasagna, the eggplant tortellini, the chicken parmesan and the broccolini. I can only say they really like their parmesan here. I'm not the biggest fan so I brushed a lot of it off. The tortellini was the star of the show for me and I think it was partially because all the other dishes were marinera + parmesan so it gave a nice break in the flavor profile. Something to consider when ordering next time. The chicken parmesan was delicious. I found the lasagna to be okay and would pass on the broccolini next time (to be fair, I got rid of all the cheese so that probably change the flavor profile they were going for).

Wow. Just wow…read more Pizzana delivered one of the best dining experiences we've had in Los Angeles. This may very well be the best Neapolitan-style pizza in LA. We ordered the pepperoni pizza and the arugula salad with chicken, and both were outstanding. The chicken deserves special recognition--it was perfectly seasoned, incredibly fresh, and cooked to perfection. Chicken breast is often dry, but this was surprisingly juicy and flavorful. The salad itself was super fresh, and the nuts paired beautifully with the lemon dressing, which may be one of the best salad dressings I've ever had. Honestly, we'd come back just for the salad. As for the pizza, it was exceptional. The sauce was rich and flavorful, and the dough was absolutely incredible--light, airy, and perfectly textured. Every bite reminded us why Pizzana has such a strong reputation. It's an absolute must-try. The service made the experience even better. Our waitress, Niko, was fantastic. She was warm, welcoming, and took the time to explain every dish and answer all of our questions. To top it off, she surprised us with complimentary ice cream, which was such a thoughtful touch. The wine was also excellent. I enjoyed the Fèlsina Chianti from Tuscany, with beautiful notes of wild berries, black currant, and rose petal that paired wonderfully with the meal. From the food to the wine to the service, everything was outstanding. We left already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended.

Out of sheer luck, my best friend decided to chose this spot for our girls' night dinner, and we have decided on consensus that we savored every bite of our meal. We started our meal with the absolutely delectable focaccia erbraica, a cinnamon roll looking starter bread with olives, currant and a generous sprinkle of rosemary and salt. It came with a pad of homemade honey butter and a dab of olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette. It was so umami and paired with the butter seemingly melted in our mouths. We also countered that carb bomb with deliciously charred broccolini with walnuts and a squeeze of citrus. Highly cruciferous veggies should only be grilled based on how fast we cleaned our plate. As for the entrees, the plates are meant to share, but I skipped lunch and ate my own bowl of mafaldine short rib pasta (yes you read that right). It was so hearty and satisfying. As a kid, I loved stealing the cooked lasagna noodles and eating them by itself when my mom would make lasagna, so having it on my own bowl of pasta (in the form of mafaldine) gratified my inner child. The short rib was so tender and it was perfectly sauced. I could have eaten another bowl. My friend ordered a steak and a rigatoni alla carbonara, and while I didn't try the former, the latter rigatoni was so delicious as well. For dessert, we ordered the tiramisu, and luckily the last one of the night. It had equal parts espresso soaked cake and cream, and it was the perfect sweet note to end our epically delicious meal.

The restaurant is located near Dodger Stadium in a hilly residential area that isn't particularly pedestrian-friendly. Parking was by far the biggest logistical challenge, as we couldn't find any dedicated parking options beyond residential street parking. It's worth planning extra time if you're driving. We arrived around 7:45 for our 8pm reservation simply to check in, not expecting to be seated early. The host, seeming a little bothered, let us know our table would be ready closer to our reservation time and offered grabbing a drink at the bar next door as an option while we wait. We didn't want to order drinks, so we stood against the wall in the waiting area across the host stand. We were single-file, hugging the wall and not blocking anyone. Nevertheless, we were quickly told we couldn't wait there and needed to either go outside (it was cold) or sit at the tables next to the bar. After taking the indoor option given to us, a server came over to take our order. We explained that we were only sitting there because the host had directed us to wait there until our table was ready. The server responded, "Well, if you're here, it's basically expected you order a drink." Restaurants: please do not play games with your patrons. If purchasing something is expected to use the waiting area you direct us to, it leaves a really bad taste to discover it after you've sat down. After 8, we were seated in the main restaurant for our reservation. Our server was friendly, personable, and never made us feel pressured to order more than we wanted like I've encountered in other places. The menu was explained as family-style, with dishes intended to arrive around the same time. Unfortunately, the pacing of the meal didn't match that explanation. Instead of arriving together, the dishes came out individually over the course of about 1-2 hours, often 10-20 minutes apart. I completely understand that everything is made fresh, but it was disappointing after being told the meal would be timed differently. Setting accurate expectations would have gone a long way. The food itself was excellent and easily the highlight of the evening. While the dishes leaned a bit salty, everything was crafted artfully with quality ingredients. The stuffed fried squash blossoms, carbonara, pesto, and peach & burrata salad were all standouts that I'd happily order again.

YUM. not too heavy or oily. perfect spice level. this would be in my to-go roto if i lived here. - beef noodle soup. only tasted the noodles and bokchoy, but both were dank. again with the fresh and perfectly cooked noodles. the broth.... get it!! YUMd: - taro milk tea. love that they use actual taro and not just a premade mixture or packet. light, nutty, delicious. service, etc.: got takeout on a sunday night and it was packed and busy! super cute spot. dude double checked our bag to ensure everything was in there. literally cant beat the price either. really sad they were out of most of their veggie dishes.

My young daughter and I decided to come in about 8:30pm on Saturday night and we're from San Diego…read moreso we were excited to try something new. Place was full and cheery, we only waited 10 mins for a good table. We ordered lasagna with mushroom cream which was delicious but pasta crust at bottom was overcooked and dry, even then we thought it was great tasting and were hungry and so I ate the top. She ordered another pasta with grilled chicken. That was good as well. Outstanding? No! I was a little disappointed with service but noticed other people enjoying their food so we continued on. The service was not bad - the waiter was cordial but blah - we even tried to joke a bit but he wasn't in the mood to smile. Dinner for us both with one glass of wine and two pastas was $128 dls. No dessert - we decided to find somewhere else more welcoming for dessert. For that price I think we could have done better. Maybe just a bad night??

We were there at 6pm on a Sunday night but they filled up quick, so I highly recommend a reservation. At dusk, candles are lit and the ambiance becomes warm and intimate; the perfect setting for date night, a birthday/anniversary, or just catching up with friends. We ordered the meatballs (polpette filanti) as an appetizer, which were perfectly moist and tender and blanketed in melty mozzarella (tip: save the sauce for your bread!!). I ordered a special, the Fusilli Toscana (Sun dried tomato, sautéed spinach, and sweet Italian sausage in a light cream sauce), and as much as I wanted to finish it, I deliberately saved half for a bonus lunch the next day! I also stole bites of the Brie and albicocche (Brie, prosciutto, and apricot!!) ravioli in their Bianco and Rosso sauce and I just about died in my seat. *chefs kiss* As if it couldn't get any better, ordered the Pansu (espresso panna cotta) and Tiramisu for dessert and right then and there swore to return when anyone comes to visit me or any time I wanna take a friend out and treat them to a wonderfully authentic Italian hidden gem called La Pergoletta! Buon Appetito!!

I never feel like a customer at Osteria La Buca -- I always feel like a guest, and that means a lot. I've been going there for quite some time, and I've tried a large portion of the menu, probably a good 90% of it. Everything has been exceptional. Their Carbonara for example, is made properly, without cream, peas, or the other abominations that many restaurants add. "Other restaurants = Take lessons. The ricotta with agave is a lovely Italian Mexican wedding, the pizzas are tasty and so many other dishes are consistently fantastic. They also have a super solid wine selection, and the ambiance is wonderful both on the main floor and in the private dining room. The staff is always super friendly, and you can tell they are well trained and genuinely enjoy working there. That positive energy trickles down to the guests, and it shows by how packed the restaurant always is. Go there on a Monday at 8pm and you'll see what I'm taking about. (Make a rezzy before going is what I am trying to say, otherwise, you might end up waiting for a bit, but it's worth it anyway) I'm getting hungry just writing this review, so I better go "destroy" that Carbonara with a nice glass of Soave Classico (or really, any good Garganega) and enjoy a great chat with the bartenders at Osteria La Buca. Grazie, Osteria La Buca. Cheers!

This time we came around their HH time - 3-5. Their whole menu is basically "off" and you can only order from the HH menu (or so that's what it sounded like to me). We sat at the bar, I got a glass of the house white which was delicious and the fries and arancini. Everything was delicious and again- the staff was super wonderful. The place was super clean and the vibes were great! I'm not sure if they have their own parking but there is metered strewn parking along Ventura !
