This is my 3rd engagement of Desert Air Conditioning. The 1st was to replace the ductwork in the attic, as it was leaking like a sieve. Very happy as noted in my original post below this update. 2nd time, (which unfortunately I didn't Yelp about but should have!), Desert Air replaced my HVAC System which was very old and far from efficient. Again, an excellent experience all around. My problem has always been my office room. The previous owner built out the room to the edge of the overhang, which previously protected the room from the sun & heat. Since there was no protection from the overhang now, nor was any insulation installed for that area, the room would get very hot in the months when the sun was lower in the sky and would hit the room directly thru the 3 sliders facing the sun. I was debating a mini-split or "Lennox Sensor", which a neighbor of mine had installed which helped them with a similar issue. In November I spoke with Ken Esposito from Desert Air, and after several conversations with him and his engineer (Brad?), we decided my best solution would be to create 3 Zones for my home: 1) Living, Dining, Kitchen & Hallway 2) 2 Bedrooms & Bathroom 3) Office & Bathroom. My HVAC System can only do 1 thing at a time (Heat or A/C), however the plan was to install a Controller that would open and close the Dampers in each of 3 Zones as needed for Heat or A/C. And I have a thermostat in each Zone to control/set the temperature for that area. WOW! It's only been a week since the installation was done! What a difference this has made - especially my office room! The entire house temperature is balanced - whatever is needed to maintain a steady temperature throughout my home from room to room! I couldn't be any happier! By the way, all 3 thermostats work with Alexa!! My thanks to all the guys from Desert Air Conditioning for their recommendations, proposed solution & installation. We had Desert Air Conditioning perform a general service on our HVAC system they installed 24 years ago as well as installing a Nest Thermostat. Ryan, our technician, was on time, thorough and very knowledgeable. We found the charges to be reasonable given that he had to return a couple days later because we didn't order the correct Nest Thermostat for our dual system. So right after the storms from Hurricane Hilary passed thru Coachella Valley my AC went out. I called 3 company's & the only one that was able to make time for me was Desert Air. They put me in for a call even with road closures & different conditions. Their tech showed up as promised & quickly diagnosed the problem and was able to repair at a very reasonable price. The install team arrived on time, super friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The pricing I received for the unit was excellent when compared with a competitor. The install went smoothly, the installers did a very neat professional install. One note, no one at Desert Air receive a commission on any repair sales which is comforting. We could not be happier with the service Ray provided us yesterday. We had been loyal customers of our former ac provider for 10 years. When the air went out over the weekend we got an appt. with them for Monday from 4 to 6. The tech arrived at 8 pm and after spending less than 15 minutes informed us that he would not work on our system anymore and we needed a replacement at a cost of $17,000. We asked him to leave when he could not tell us the problem with our unit, just that it made loud noises when he tried to start it up and that it was dangerous. Got an appt. with Desert Air 2 days later. Ray arrived and quickly determined the settings were not set at the recommended threshold. He set the unit correctly, replaced the fuses and cleaned the unit. Our unit started working, it had cooled the house down within several hours and has been working ever since. Thimorning we received a follow up call from Ray, checking to be sure everything was working. Our bill was $148!! A savings of over $16,850! read more

We are very happy with the excellent service call yesterday. "Murphy's Law" our AC would not start over the 4th Holiday weekend when our temperatures soared. We limped along on our evaporative cooler until speaking with a super nice young lady who answered the phone and set us up for an afternoon appointment on the 5th. The technician, I think named Roy, was prompt and very knowledgeable. He quickly identified the problem, {thermostat gone bad} offered choices for a replacement, which he had installed and working in no time! I was referred to this company from a friend whos mother lives in PS. My Mom lives here too, myself SD. Compressors were getting to loud and outside bedroom window. I wanted to see if anything could be done. I set up the appt for when I would be in town. They called me, Johhny on the spot, asking if a tech could come over. Met the tech Andrew in less than 30 mins. I showed him the system. He did a diagnostic,, said it was in good working order, though 20 years old. Told me the pros/cons of getting a compressor blanket. Gave me stats on amps. Also, when they do go, what type to get since we're in the desert, and about govt regs etc..a real education. Its more complicated being in the desert because of the heat. Reasonable price for diagnostic. When the system goes caput, will get estimate from Desert Air. Liked how tech was down to earth. Informative and not trying to sell me anything I didn't need. After screwing with our home warranty company for a very hot month in August we were recommended by a cabinet contractor to call Desert Air and just pay to have it fixed. That turned out to be great advice. The gal at the office squeezed us in late on the day I called. Mark the tech spent a couple of hours on site and within those few hours we had a nice cool house again. Make these guys your first call. Okay, these folks are fantastic!!!! We're Canadians with a place in Palm Springs. My 82-year-old in-laws were staying at our place when the cold snap hit in February. And they couldn't get any heat! The day I phoned Desert Air, they were able to get someone out there (who determined that our smart home folks had completely mis-wired our new thermostat last summer; don't get me started on that other company!). Desert Air fixed it in a jiff and my in-laws no longer had to layer 15 blankets on in order to hang out in the living room or anywhere else. Just spoke Meredith at the office. Wow! Her tone of voice when answering and demand of address even though not needed. When she's able to look up by caller ID afterall.. not friendly for sure. I know there maybe high call volumes with the heat that we're having and customers can be frustrated. Lets face customers are only calling because their ac's aren't working... frustrating I'm sure. We recently had three top of the line a/c heater units installed. We had a top notch experience with Desert Air. They have always done a good job with annual service as well. We felt their fees were fair vs. the other quotes and they did not try to hard sell us during the process. Brad and his team of Isidro, Todd and Brian did a great job. They arrive on time in the morning and work through the day. They explained what they were doing clearly and made sure to walk us through the technology. I've used Desert Air for a couple of years now and recently scheduled an appointment for a bi-annual standard service as part of my annual service subscription. I had to schedule an appointment 3 weeks from the day I called to schedule and when my appointment day came, the service tech failed to show up. I called the office and asked where the tech was and they said that since I didn't answer a phone call to confirm the appointment (they didn't tell me I had to do that when I scheduled the appointment and I work and am not always able to answer a personal phone call) that my appointment was cancelled. I thought that when a company makes an appointment, they show up?? I expect those with whom I do business to show up when I've made an appointment with them. I arrange my life to accommodate and then they don't hold up their end of the bargain. During my conversation with the office they said I'd have to wait another 3 weeks for an appointment. No thanks, I'll be using another service. read more

My air conditioner stopped working when it was about 100°. I spoke to Brandi and she was able to get a repair crew out here a day earlier than expected. Mitch and Beto called ahead to let me know they were on their way and arrived when they said they would. They were so nice and professional and had my air conditioner up and running in less than 10 minutes! My husband thought it was the compressor but they figured out it was just a fuse, which they had with them. Many companies would spend time finding a more expensive problem to fix. This company has been so good to my mother. She has an upstairs condo in Palm Desert with a 30 year old AC unit. Over the years, she has used their twice yearly maintenance program and it has nursed the AC along with a few fixes and freon along the way. My HOA recommended this firm to tune up my air conditioning system. The technician, Mark, arrived on time, was thoroughly professional and easy to talk to. He discovered that the capacitor was almost shot and recommended installing a new one. This did not surprise me as the a/c system had not been serviced in the 11 years I have been here. He found nothing else amiss. He installed the capacitor, spent about 2 hours checking everything out and found nothing else amiss. When one of their employees came out to fix our airconditioner in 2015, he was rude and frankly I didn't trust him. They charged over $250 and then hit me with a diagnostic fee too. I asked them to waive the fee, which they (Brad) agreed to do and noted on the invoice. Less than 2 years later, with very little use, the problem has returned. I called and was told I have a "balance owing" of the diagnostic fee! There are plenty of better options in the desert-- move on. read more

I have owned a condo in Palm Springs for over 17 years. Yesterday Desert Air saved me one more time. My AC went out at 3PM when it was 110 degrees. I called and was asked my address. They had all of my info but told me that all of their service techs were in the field and may not be able to get there until today. At 5PM they called and said that a service person was on the way. Ysidro arrived and found the problem and fixed it. He spent time showing me exactly where the problem was. This is not the first time that Desert Air has come to my rescue. Updated to "1" star. Had them out to change a filter, UV lights, and catalyst grid in my HVAC system -- a standard annual Lennox maintenance package. They forgot the UV lights which were in the bottom of the box. This is a standard 3 part kit from Lennox which Desert Air should be familiar with, since they are an authorized dealer. After paying for a service call I had to call them back within the hour because they forgot to put in the UV tubes. They charged me another $65 service fee. So they forgot to put in parts that I supplied in a standard factory service package, and then they charge me for returning to complete the job. Will never use again. I consider this an extremely bad business practice. read more
