When we recently had to replace (2) HVAC units on a new property in Indio, we were SHOCKED (and depressed) at the quote that came back ($30K!) and they had no interest in negotiating the price. Thankfully, we got a reliable referral from a local real estate agent who uses Thomson for all of his inspections, repairs & replacements, "Just call Ethan at Thomson. I am certain he can do better." He was right. Without hesitation I say the same thing. Not only did they come out within 24 hours to complete a thorough inspection of the units outside and system inside the attic, without having to ask for comparative pricing Ethan gave us 3 quotes (good/better/best) and informed us of the current rebates being offered in our zipcode from IID and the manufacturers, plus Fed tax credit info. Ethan was incredibly knowledgeable about all the systems and took the time to share his recommendations (based on facts, product output and best efficiency for our property, not just the price) and answer all of our questions before leaving the property. He was friendly, informative, professional and truly interested in helping us (vs. the can't be bothered attitude of the other company). Ethan worked up the quotes himself and emailed them the same day. The quotes included a detailed financial breakout of rebates & tax credits for each model option which helped make our decision easy. After calculating rebates, we were able to select two Bosch top of the line/best efficiency units for less than what the "middle/better" option would have been, and add install of a new water heater as well. This was my second time using Thomson (the first time they were the ONLY company that could fix the A/C in my condo) and I was just as satisfied this time. I got bids on - and eventually purchased - an electric A/C and Heater combo with new duct work. This is my first electric heater so Mike and Tim patiently explained the technology - and I will get a $2,000 tax credit! I also used their financing option to push some of the expense into the next tax year. I used Thomson for my system at home in OC, imagine my surprise/delight when I was looking for maintenance and they were in the desert as well! A quick, friendly, and thorough maintenance later, I decided to reach out for a quote on a mini split. I don't live in the area so I sent some Google satellite images and Ethan, the manager, got back to me same-day with a rough estimate without any measurements. He advised he'd be in the area on Thursday (today) and if he could stop by (of course). I ended up receiving a last-minute reservation at the vacation home who wanted to check in early and I tried reaching out to the office who tried to reach Ethan unsuccessfully but forwarded the message. He was in and out with measurements and photos within minutes. Before I knew it, I had two VERY competitive quotes. What a terrific company!! Got an appointment to get my swamp cooler serviced. Sent confirmation texts and reminders of my appointment. Because I was a new customer they were running a special where the service was $59. Julio came out, very nice and professional and got right to it. Our swamp cooler was in bad shape. No water running to the unit, cooler pads disintegrating, pipe fitting corroded etc. He showed me pictures of everything. Unit is on the roof. Couldn't get the water running. Pads he estimated would be approximately $250 but unit is so old that would have to be checked. I told him that before ordering the pads I'd have to get a plumber to see what it would take to get the water working. No sense investing in new pads if the plumber would charge $2k. We have an AC unit that is working well. He agreed. I asked him if I could pay the $59 by card, he said, "there's no charge for today. I didn't really do anything." What the ..... ?!?!?!?! He got on the roof, inspected the unit, tried to get the water running by seeing if the valves (on the roof and on the ground floor were open. Talked to his manager and gave him the measurements for the cooler pads, gave me an assessment of what needed to be done. Color me shocked and impressed! If a company has the integrity to not charge me when I was expecting to pay for a service call, this company is a keeper!!! Hope my 5 star review makes up for the missed opportunity to make $59. In Nov. of 2024 my condo in Palm Springs was deeply impacted by a power surge caused by our local service provider. One of the items impacted was my HVAC, I didn't know where to start so I put a project request in on yelp and one of the vendors that reached out was Thomson AC. At first, I was a bit skeptical when I saw the 5 start ratings but they delivered! I was extremely impressed with the level of service and responsiveness. I was also extremely grateful that they were patient with me as I resolved some of the other issues caused by the power surge which prevented them from getting work immediately. Everything I asked for pictures or information, they provided without hesitation. I couldn't even get my property management company to respond to me as quickly as Thomson did. My unit was extremely old so they had to replace the whole thing but I appreciated them for attempting to repair it. I also asked them to help me find any way to save money and I felt comfortable with the price they came back with. The work took two days to complete which to me seemed extremely quick given that the hvac was on the roof. We have been working with Thomson AC since moving to the desert in 2021. They have always provided excellent service, but they went absolutely above and beyond this past week with us. It's the desert, it's August--it's crazy hot...and our AC went out and started blowing only warm air. I contacted the supervisor Ethan, and Julio was able to come by within two hours. Out here in the desert, that's rare to have such a speedy response. Julio checked everything out, and he and Ethan surmised it was the fan motor. With a little "rest," however, the AC worked well again so they recommended a wait and see approach (rather than immediately making the sale). A few days later, it happened again, and Julio arrived very quickly. We decided to replace the fan motor, which he did. About an hour after they left, hot air again. It was after hours and I figured they would come out the next morning. Nope, Julio came over after dinner and worked into the dark to make sure the new fan motor was working. Then the next morning, he *asked* if he could come over and check that everything looked good. Who provides this kind of service these days? Thomson AC. I had asked for a tech to come by as I needed a summer maintenance visit, and I had some questions regarding upgrading from an old thermostat to a new smart one. I had text, email and yelp message replies in a very quick manner from Ethan and they were able to fit me in basically right away on the same day. Contracted with Thomson AC to installed HVAC I purchased from wholesalers. The backside and right side of the air ducts was not sealed. A good amount of air was escaping on two sides.Power cord to system was not installed to NEC codes. Condenser and pad was not bolted down. My problem was that the compressor was not coming on when the A/C was turned on. Thomson AC was one of several responses to a request for quote I sent out. The problem was with a roof-mounted A/C unit and one company had already failed to provide acceptable service. I selected Thomson AC because of the reviews and more importantly, because they took the time ask questions and explain how they would perform various tests. They did not disappoint. They were able to make make a far better assessment than the prior vendor. The problem with the unit is intermittent and just like when you take your car in for service and it doesn't make that noise ... my A/C unit won't make that odd rumble when they are here.
