Chowrastha in Coppell may be a location to avoid. I've had much better experiences at their Little Elm and Roanoke locations, where they even serve unlimited pani puri for $9.99. One thing I did like about this spot was the outdoor cots, which gave it a nice touch. Unfortunately, beyond that, there wasn't much positive to note. The place felt very small, the bathrooms were shabby, and the pani puri was not up to the mark compared to the other locations. Customer service also needs improvement. The staff didn't seem attentive in greeting customers or taking orders. The girl at the register wasn't wearing a hairnet or gloves, which raises concerns about sanitation. For a franchise, I'm not sure why the standards differ so much between locations. While I can still rate it close to 4 stars for the concept, this particular location fell short. I'll be skipping this spot in the future and would not recommend it until these issues are addressed. read more

Love their food. We usually get the goat biryani and chicken tikka masala and it's good every time. The price is kind of expensive but the portion is huge. This place is a hidden gem! I'm not sure about the other negative reviews, but we had a great experience here. Service was fast and the food was so so good. There's a huge variety to choose from on the menu. We happened to order all vegetarian but everything was great! They only had onion samosas available, so we tried those. Nicely fried and crispy, and was also good dipped in some of the sauce that came with the dosa. The masala dosa was delicious - the filling was amazing, and I would absolutely order it again. I've had different versions of the palak paneer at other establishments, and my only comment is that they're a bit on the heavier side in terms of spice level. I want to differentiate that compared to level of spiciness, to which we ordered medium and it was the perfect amount of kick without being too overwhelming. The garlic naan is super well done. We tried the rose milk out of curiosity and to be adventurous, and although I normally don't like fragrance flavored foods, it was not bad! I think the ice cream really balanced it out and the basil seeds added some nice texture. They make all of their drinks in house and it was in a cute little bottle, convenient for taking on the go! DO NOT GO HERE. IF I COULD GIVE THIS RESTAURANT ZERO STARS I WOULD. Let me tell you about my experience. I literally only make reviews when I have an exceptionally great or horrible experience. This is the latter. The first time I tried this place it took 30+ minutes. Food was sub par and staff was slow. Hey, maybe it was an off day, I get it. Restaurant was probably a B-C as far as cleanliness but i gave it the benefit of the doubt. This most recent time really bothered me. I went in to order Butter Chicken and Tikka Masala around 4pm. I paid and started waiting. Not 2 min the woman in the back tells me the kitchen is closed and that I need to come back. I ask for a refund, but she doesn't give it to me. Instead she gives me a reciept and another paper and tells me to come back later. I take it as an IOU and leave disappointed. Several days later I come in around 6. Place has people in it and the kitchen seems active. I go to the register (same woman there) and I ask for food. She tells me they had made it the day I ordered it and they threw it away. ...so I'm out money and food? I ask for a refund but they refuse. They tell me a manager will call me if I give them a number. I give them a number and I leave...again no food, no refund. I paid over $30 for food and I have nothing. I have not received a phone call and I'm pretty doubtful that I'll get a refund OR food that I ordered. I've been to many MANY Indian restaurants and NEVER have I been treated this way. read more

All of the foods that we've had here and their Colony location have been reasonably good. Their opportunities are around presentation, some better customer service and certainly cleanliness. Of the few times we've dined in, I have never seen the place use any sanitizer or otherwise cleaner to clean off table tops and chairs. It leaves me to wonder the lack of attention to cleanliness in parts of the restaurant not visible to the customers. The restroom is also another area of opportunity. I won't share the details but use your imagination. For food, the tastes are generally good. Pricing is a bit on the higher end for what you get. There are certainly other options not too far away that have a better value and similar tastes. I hope they implement a better cleaning program or the city forces them to. read more

I am surrounded with 10 different bars & restaurants in walkable distance. 2.5 miles drive to desi district, 7 miles to swadeshi, 6 miles to little India & a bunch of other restaurants on MacArthur in Irving. DONT DO IT! Food is DELICIOUS, so we've been here several times and consider us hopeless idiots for continuing to come back. The food is truly incredible but the amount of time you have to wait for it... We TODAY (5/30) ordered online and came in 30 minutes afterwards just to be told it won't be ready for another 20 minutes? You would think waiting an additional 5-10 minutes after your quoted Uber eats time would keep this issue from happening, but no. I went on my Uber eats tab to check the progress and they marked my food as complete while I sit here in the car with ten minutes still left on my in person quoted wait time. I suggest ordering an hour before you're ready to eat, online, checking in in person at the drive through, and running some errands to work up an appetite and then just maybe by the time you come back it'll be ready! Update: hopped back in line at the drive thru just to be told at the speaker they needed five minutes, and then at the window (five minutes later) they still needed five minutes. This is one of the best meals I've had for 15 bucks in a LONG time! The serving is actually pretty generous too, so I got two meals out of it. I work around the corner from this place about once a month, and the smell coming from the restaurant is always amazing. I finally tried it for lunch the other day. The reviews here were so mixed that I'm glad I tried it to decide for myself. I let the employee know it was my first time, and she asked me some questions and offered suggestions. That was really appreciated. I ended up trying something pretty basic, the chicken tikka masala, since it's my first time and the menu is HUGE. It was one of the best I've ever had! It took about ten mins to get my food even though the restaurant was empty, but once I tasted it I could tell it had been just made fresh. The wait was worth it. I can see what a few other reviewers complained about like all the tables needing to be wiped down, but the bathroom was very clean. I'll definitely be back to try more things on the menu. read more

The food, service and staff hopelss. We went there at 3PM, all the staff was free, absolutely free with no one at the restaurant. ALL THE TABLES WERE DIRTY, absolutely filthy. Even outside of the restaurant, there was just too much trash. We ordered pani puri, I asked the cashier if they had sweet pani or do they use sweet chutney and spicy pani, she confirmed it was sweet pani separate from spicy pani, it was true. The guy who made it added chutney and used spicy pani, saying they don't carry sweet pani. On top of that they don't have potato mixture for pani puri only ragda, so we were forced to eat warm ragda puri, absolute mood killer. The sev puri also had no potato, instead ragda for that, apparently they don't keep potato for any chaat. Manchrian were too dry, hard to cut it withoit knife. Pav bhaji was below average. Overall. Tried tonight for the first time and while it was really good, it was all way too salty. I hate leaving a negative review (which is why I'm still giving it 3 stars) but sadly I won't be able to eat here again if it's always that salty. Only other comment is I wish the butter chicken and chicken tikka masala was white meat chicken and not thigh meat. I'm not a fan of dark meat. The sauces were really delicious however and the naan was really good and fresh. The other thing is the portion sizes for what you pay are pretty small. Also, we got everything mild and even the mild has a bit of a kick, not too overwhelming but I wouldn't call it mild. I'd have given this place 3.5 stars if that had been an option. I noticed another person reviewed the inside saying that it wasn't very clean inside and while I didn't eat inside today, I have been inside (for an UberEats pickup) and the tables and chairs had food on them and there was even food on the floor. When we've gotten medium we sweat but it's so good. The menu is extensive and can be intimidating. We sometimes orders random items to try and it's always excellent. Seems like they have some poor ratings. Glad that I didn't check the Yelp reviews before going as the food was super good and flavorful. May of the complaints are regarding the time to get the food. I ordered on their website at 11:30am and got notified at noon that the order was ready to pick up. So 30 minutes wasn't bad while sitting at home but if it took longer and I was in the restaurant then I can understand the frustration. Anyway, we got butter tikka masala and a biryani. Both where a bit hotter than expected but I'll bump down to medium next time since my tolerance is low. That's not their fault. I don't have a reference point for the biryani but it was good. The butter tikka masala was the best that I have had. Very rich flavor with good consistency. The portions were enough to provide leftovers for dinner tonight. There wasn't a ton of meat but it was in line with expectations. We are omnivores for a reason. Chowratha in Coppell is not up to the mark. Very unprofessional and scammers!!! Here are 3 separate instances- 1. 10/26 - I ordered online from their online menu. All items showed available. I paid online, went to the Coppell location after 35 mins as the time of delivery was 20mins. they are never ready on the time committed. my order wasn't ready, and they told me paneer Frankie, gulag jam and ras malai are not available. I asked for money back as it was their fault. instead the lady behind the counter kept bargaining with me to buy something else like mirchi bhaji. I kept telling her no polietly, finally I lost my patience and told them to refund me money as it is their fault and not mine for changing the order. I also told them to update website accordingly. finally after haggling they reluctantly refunded me the money. I had to wait an additional 50 mins to get my order. 2. 10/31 - I ordered online again biryani and chicken puff for lunch. paid online. I get a call from them 15 mins later saying they don't serve chicken puff before 3pm. this is not written on their website. I was not happy but asked them to refund me the money for the puff back. the lady on the phone said ok. I didn't see it still reflected on my statement so when I went to the store on 11/2, I asked her to confirm if they had processed the refund. and as expected, they had not processed the refund. the lady said she has now processed the refund but couldn't print receipt. I gave her the benefit of the doubt. we had the breakfast that day and it was below standard. sambar and chutney were runny and upma was absolutely not edible. 3. 11/7 - I checked my statement again today and it still shows they haven't give me the refund. bunch of scammers!! read more

On my way out from a first time visit, I let them know that I've eaten at many Indian restaurants in the metroplex, but they have taken first place in my opinion for the quality and taste of the FOOD. Never mind the decor, the atmosphere, the cleanliness, the service, the location or any other factors - all of which I found to be perfectly acceptable and not at all discouraging by my standards, though not stellar. If you are looking for GREAT Indian food, this is the place. We had samosas (5 stars), a chicken 65 dosa (5 stars), chicken tikka masala (5 stars), regular naan (5 stars), garlic naan (5 stars), their incredible white rice (5 stars), and paneer masala (5 stars). Haha! I had planned to distinguish my favorites, but I've ended up giving everything we ordered "5 stars."
