Came here tonight to enjoy company with some friends and watch the USA vs Turkey match. I had come here once before and I loved the food so much that I happened to remember this place today. Our table got the carne asada guac and the El Costeño burrito and both were phenomenal! The food, when it first came out, looked a bit dainty; we all thought it wouldn't be enough food. After we ate it, however, we were actually quite full, and we are all big eaters. Maria was awesome! She kept checking in on us and was extremely friendly. The bathroom was also nice and clean. Definitely will be back in the future!

I came here with a friend tonight as she found this place online and thought and thought they did a daily happy hour. When we arrived, we were bummed to learn that only the Santa Monica location has a happy hour. Since we were famished from a hike at Griffith Park, we took a look at their menu to see what they had and figure out if it was worth staying. I didn't see any vegan options on the menu but my friend asked the employee and she said the vegetarian tacos were in fact vegan and dairy-free. She told me I could choose a veggie for it. I asked which one she recommended and she said the potatoes. My friend and I opted to sit outside on their sidewalk seating as the weather was nice and warm. The tables and chairs were pretty comfy. I loved the cute decor they had both inside and outside and it was all such a great vibe. The seating inside actually seemed more plush and comfortable but the AC felt a bit too much for me. The food came out quickly and the staff were great about bringing salsas and waters to our table. I really loved the potatoes taco I got and the potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and perfectly spiced and seasoned. The salsas were pretty mild and really enhanced the flavors of the dish. I regret not ordering another taco, as it was very hearty and delicious! Parking was very easy and plentiful on the street.

I know I've written about this place before, but since we live close and often crave Mexican food, I gave it a few more chances. At one point, it became a solid weekly spot for me because the food was genuinely good. The service is still a hit or miss. Ordering by phone is still a struggle, hard to get a hold of them and communication is poor.. but in person, the staff are usually very nice. We were regulars, coming almost every week on lazy nights we didn't want to cook. I understand paying extra for sauces and sour cream, but sometimes the portions are laughably tiny. If I'm paying 50 cents, I'd like more than a squirt. Our go-to orders were the nachos, tacos, and the Godzilla carne asada quesadilla. I loved that quesadilla.. it was huge and usually enough for two meals. But the last time I went, it was so thin it felt like I spent $17-$18 on mostly cheese and tortilla with a sprinkle of meat. I can also tell you to look at photos from other yelpers and you can tell the difference from what i was served. That was a clear sign to stop coming. The décor is nice and fun, but honestly, the food and service aren't worth it for us anymore.

We were a big group that came here after a Zumba class! The food and service was amazing. It didn't take long after we placed the order to have the food on the table. Teresa was managing the whole time from taking orders to making sure everybody is taken care of and also taking care of the payment. She was very attentive and very caring and patient, Thank you for making a great atmosphere! We had a great time

Stopped here to grab some lunch. My husband said it was the best nachos he's ever had. Maria was our server, she was so sweet & accommodating. The interior is super cute, with modern Mexican artwork mixed with some classics. We'll be back to try other stuff.

From the moment you walk in, you're hit with neon lights, exposed brick, bold artwork, and an energy that feels fun. Service was outstanding. Maria and Teresa were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They knew the menu well, gave great recommendations, and made us feel like regulars instead of first-time guests. Their timing and friendliness really elevated the whole experience. The food coming out of the kitchen was equally impressive. Chef Edgar clearly knows his craft. Every dish was flavorful, no shortcuts, no gimmicks, just solid execution. You can literally feel the care behind the food. The open-kitchen setup, neon signs like "Real tacos and not chingaderas," make this a place you want to hang out, not rush through. Desvelados is doing it right. I'll definitely be back and I already know who I am bringing with me!!

Love that they have an outdoor seating so we can bring our dog. Their agua Fresca is delicious! Food takes a little longer to make but they're super fresh and tasty. Servings are pretty big too! It's in a great neighborhood and super close to us, so we come here whenever we're craving restaurant Mexican food.

From the moment we walked in, we were captivated by the incredible tavern and speakeasy feel. It has that perfect moody, welcoming energy that makes you want to settle in for the night. The service was nothing short of amazing, with the staff going above and beyond to make our experience top-tier. The food completely blew us away, easily earning a 10 out of 10. We decided to share a few different dishes and went with the empanadas, the burrata salad, and the Mediterranean plate. Every single item was phenomenal. The empanadas were perfectly crisp and flavorful, the burrata was incredibly fresh and creamy, and the Mediterranean plate tied everything together with such a great variety of tastes. It is rare to find a place that delivers so flawlessly on all fronts, but Inkwell Tavern genuinely exceeded our expectations. Whether you are coming in for the standout food, the fantastic service, or just to soak up that great speakeasy vibe, this place will not disappoint. I cannot recommend it enough and am already looking forward to our next visit.

We found this place last minute to watch the final FIFA World Cup game when we were turned around…read morefrom another spot. Thank god we got turned away because this place is a hidden gem. They do have parking behind the building which seems to fill pretty quickly if they're busy, but it's easy to find parking around the neighborhood. I am not usually in the tavern scene so I was surprised that we had to order and pay at the bar, but it wasn't a big issue. My friend and I split the kale caesar salad and the macaroni and cheese. For the table, I ordered the waffle fries after being informed by the kind waitress that that was the better choice over the pretzel (which she also said was amazing). Since the place was filling up for the final, the kitchen was a bit slow, but we barely noticed with how attentive the staff were in getting us drinks and refills. When it came to food, we were pleasantly surprised with this place and is honestly the reason I'm writing this review. The first things we got were the Beef Tallow Waffle Fries, Caesar Salad, and mac and cheese. Obviously the fries were much better, however the salad was also divine but just swimming in dressing. Back to the fries, we all were mindblown with how tavern fries could be this good and had so many flavors. Even the skinny queens in our group kept snacking on them which tells you how good these were. Mac and cheese came and it was standard and creamy but not necessarily something I'd return for. The surprising thing on top of the fries that majority of us loved was the Vegan Tomato Scampi with shrimp. It was fire and had me questioning if it was even Vegan. Would definitely return here if I find my way back to SoCal from the Bay. Great unassuming place with great food and vibes. Their bathroom as well is super clean and nice! Love this place!

With the seemingly ever-changing landscape along Brand Blvd. in downtown Glendale, this establishment has been around since 2012 (which I believe was the first and only time I came here). Primarily known for its inventive craft cocktails and a killer whiskey selection, it was a nice place to sneak away into before or after your main event... or, maybe this could be the place to spend an entire evening. Once we closed out our tabs, we were thanked for coming as we headed out into the night. Everything was chill and easy - thank you! PARKING (Varied; FREE this instance): I parked in the nearby original Glendale Galleria parking structure and simply walked over first to The Americana then to this place. Otherwise, there was limited parking along the main drag of Brand Blvd. and other surrounding side streets, the nearby Glendale Galleria II parking structure, The Americana parking structure that offered validation, numerous public transportation options, and rideshares - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A dark cavernous speakeasy-like place with open space, various tables and couches strewn about, and a large long somewhat decorative bar with an impressive whiskey selection displayed behind it. I appreciated the exposed brick walls which gave it that old-time feel with a few framed pictures hung on them. Minimal natural lighting came through the front doors and windows while minimal electric ceiling lights filled in rest. There was at least one projection TV where we watched the Dodgers game while music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=SomLKsk1KVcemeOCHGOZfg ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL It was nice to slip into The Famous Bar for the first time in over a decade, and if I found myself spending time in downtown Glendale again, I'd consider another visit. Sadly, I try to avoid the highly congested area as much as possible. I loved the fact that they had a daily happy hour (4pm-7pm) and late-night SU-TH happy hours (10:30pm-close), so there was always a deal to be found. The drinks were the main reason you came, while the food was just an add-on. The prices were elevated, but you had a good menu selection of libations (nice local craft beer list) to choose from. The customer service was easy, friendly, and straightforward. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $42.00 BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...
