Went here after Lollapalooza for a late night eat as I wanted my husband to try a Chicago dog before we left the city. I thought all the things would make it weird but it was actually quite good! I liked all the pickles. The bag of fries with awesome sauce were so good as well. The line was long but once you put your order in, the food is ready super fast. They were playing the Olympics which was fun to watch too. read more

I don't like soggy Hot Dogs so it was nice that both Hot Dogs we got had some crunch to it, although a different type of crunch. Chicago dog: 3/5 seemed like a normal sausage. Pickle added a nice crunch. Can't beat LA Hot Dogs. Better than a Costco Hot Dog though! Icelandic dawg: 5/5 One of the few Hot Dogs I have ever liked was from Iceland. So when I saw this on the menu I had to. I liked the sausage a lot. Onion was crispy and added good texture. The sauce was bomb too. Would come back just for this. Fries: 2/5 soggy and lightly salted. read more

This was a hang loose place. We had 2 Chicago dogs, a slider, and some fries. 3 stars is generous. The fries were soggy to point of limp, the slider and dogs were VERY messy. Maybe that is part of the "charm" of eating the food. The slider was very greasy as well. read more

I really liked the different concoctions they had here with the hot dogs. Unfortunately, some ingredients worked and some were mediocre. The menu has a variety of items, such as your standard hot dogs, burgers, fried chicken, shakes, tater tots, French fries, etc. The bag of onion rings with sauce were tasty. The bulldawg had interesting ingredients when reading the menu but it works. It had a lot of flavor and it was a great size. I usually don't eat too many deep fried items but this one mixed with the chili, cheese, coleslaw, grilled onions, and bbq sauce was amazing. I tried other limited items and some were okay and not great. Good service. Ample seating. Prices were standard for the area. read more

Definitely one of our go to late night meals. I love that all them can come vegetarian, the its not a corn dog is my absolute fave. The veggie burger with cheese is also so so good. My husband loves the icelandic and its not a corn dog as well as their spicy chicken sandwich. The fries and onion rings are ok, but the cheese curds and tots are delicious. If you're feeling like a sweet treat, their milkshakes are huge and delicious, you really can't go wrong with any of them. Go check out for your next late night meal! read more

After trying several other Chicago dog spots, I have to admit devil dawgs has shown to be better than some others. Service was quick and it was around $5 or so. The bun itself was not soggy which is quite important! Stuffed with all its toppings, the peppers had a nice bite! I definitely recommend and will come back to try some of their other offerings! read more

The food was amazing. The look of the place was so cool. And the service was quick, efficient, and excellent. California needs one of these places!! I got the Icelandic Dawg and it was so freaking good. Crispy shallots on a dog with ketchup and honey mustard with onions was a combo I didn't know I needed. Even got a chocolate banana Oreo milkshake that was amazing. This place just doesn't make bad food. read more

This was our first Chicago dog we've tried and it was quite a delicious option! We tried two and also some onion rings (the latter being not that great in descending order). Considering we later tried Portillos, I'd say I prefer Devil Dawg's Chicago dog more! Food: - Jumbo Chicago Dog: This cost a little more and honestly it wasnt that big of a hot dog. Which is a shame! I'm probably comparing it too much to Costco hot dogs. Anyway, I thought this Chicago dog was quite more flavorful, loved the moist bun, and their pickle is 2x more crunchier than Portillos. I'm a bit more of a fan of their flavor contrasts and overall quality is fresher. Yum! - Icelandic Dog: This was chosen as a recommendation from a friend and I'm kind of meh about the dog. Mainly because the flavors were not distinctly unique nor did it stand out in any way. I'm a fan of crispy shallots--which were plenty--but the remoulade was a bit lacking. Not a bad dog, but not one I'd try again for the sheer choice of variety. Next! - Onion Rings: Alright so no one recommended this, and I dont blame anyone but us for trying them. They were not very crunchy, not very unique, and was NOT a highlight. Very standard. Honestly, not memorable. Should have tried some other options. Pros: - Delicious and unique options. A solid 4 star choice! - Quick service after ordering. - Fun and casual interior. Definitely gives a "part of the neighborhood" vibe. Cons: - Price is a little higher than I'd like. - Not a fan of some of the food options. - Seating is limited. Not a horrible selection but it's far from ample. Thanks Devil Dawg! I was looking forward to trying Devil Dawgs for their Chicago hot dog and Maxwell Street Polish. This place was such a disappointment. The day before, I had a polish and hot dog from the hotdog stand at Grant Park and the day before that I had a hot dog and polish from Wrigley Field (yes, it's been years since I've been to Chicago and I missed the hot dogs and polish). The food at the hot dog stand and Wrigley Field made Devil Dawgs taste like crap. The polish was extremely tough, the hot dog reminded me of Oscar Meyer, I threw it away, and they didn't even use the poppy seed buns. The restaurant is cashless and uses only kiosks to order. I had no idea, so I stood at the counter for a couple of minutes waiting to be helped, until I finally noticed the sign on printer paper. Not everyone is local and knows to look for the kiosk. read more

Great place for Chicago-style hotdogs, burgers, good home style fries and several other items, including a variety of shakes. Around the corner from. Columbia College, they have a few tables in their narrow space and they're open til 10 most nights. They can be pricey ($7+ for a shake?) but good for fast food. read more

This was the first place I went after landing in Chicago (also my first time in Chicago!). From the outside, it looks super sketchy. It's a pretty small space inside, with just a couple of tables and a window to order. Service was fast and friendly, and I'd never seen so many options for hot dogs before. I ended up going with the Chicago dog and was so impressed with it! I was a little wary of the relish since it was neon green, but everything tasted so good. I also got some fries and they were perfectly seasoned and cooked. I tried Portillo's later on in my trip and I think I prefer Devil Dawgs! read more

Went to Chicago for the first time. Figured for food we'd try here since it had some kid friendly options for our son. I got the Chicago hotdog, and it was pretty good. I had to take the peppers off because they kept sliding off. My fiance tried the bulldawg. It's got a kick to it, but it tastes really good. This place can get pretty busy, but the service is quick. If you're in Chicago and want to try good hotdogs I definitely would recommend coming here. read more

Can't get much better than a traditional Chicago dog! I was surprised that we were able to get in and out in 20 minutes, even downtown. We may have been there at a slower time, but we ordered right away and got our food in only a few minutes. The taste was fantastic, of course. Best place in The Loop for hot dogs. Devil Dawgs has a few locations and this is the most happening one. It certainly isn't a surprise because there's a lot going on around here and it's full of commuters and tourists. Even if you don't want hot dogs you can still get something else. There's hamburgers, and they have a few vegan friendly styles. I got a vegan hot dog to go. It was lunch and it was busy, and there was no room to dine inside. The menu is mostly hot dogs unsurprisingly. Many styles to choose from. There's of course Chicago style, and many other kinds that are similar. It also has the choice to replace a hot dog sausage with a vegan one. With who knows what's in a hot dog, why wouldn't you? I had a Dah Big Chicago Dawg. It's about $6.50 for most hot dogs. That's kind of a lot. It at least is big. There's also lots of good toppings. It's the basic Chicago style. This has celery salt, mustard, onions, a pickle, relish, sport peppers, and tomatoes. It seems to be the most popular one here. This is a hot dog done right. Check out this location for a hot dog before going anywhere else. It has a few more locations farther north. The seating is pretty limited so most people get takeout. read more

I don't like hot dogs, but this place gives you no choice. I'm in Chicago! My friend told me I had to try a hot dog. I looked it up on Yelp and found this place, noticing that they have Southern Slaw Dog. I love coleslaw! But... When we got there, I didn't see it on their menu. And I didn't care because I was already determined to try it specifically. I asked the cashier if they could make Southern Slaw Dog, because it's on Yelp, and he nodded. No problem! My friend took the fries, which were just as good as our hot dogs! I don't usually eat this kind of food because I don't really like it, but this place is definitely worth a stop here. After walking from downtown CHI, I allowed myself to indulge in a strawberry Oreo milkshake. Please tell me why I have never thought of adding Oreos in my strawberry milkshakes? Authentic classic chicago style hotdogs with neon relish and peppers. If thats what your looking for then this is the place they also have cheese fries as well. I tried a single slider and added pickles to the standard sauce and onions. Sliders are juicy and grilled to perfection. Service is fast about 5-6 tables with window bar seats as well. read more

It was something about the pickles... and I've never really been into pickles until I discovered this year that they were CUCUMBERS?! I don't know how I went all my life not knowing this. Honestly surprised I haven't come here sooner. I know chicago is known for Chicago dogs, and this the spot to get a tasty one. It's a bit hole-in the-wall, but that's part of the charm. Devil Dawgs has a surprisingly large menu of creative hotdogs, burgers, and chicken sandwiches. They also have vegetarian options (both hotdogs & burgers) & a lot of different sides to choose from. There is seating at this location ( a few tables) but it looked like a lot of their business is takeout. Definitely check this spot out for a great (and inexpensive) meal. Had to Try the Chicago Dog, and what better place to try it then Devil Dawgs. Strawberry Milkshake : 5/5. Holly smokes sooo good! Best milkshake I had in my life. Big Chicago Dog : 5/5. Meat was juicy and the Chicago dog was not as bag as I thought it be it was very delicious. I just thought the Tomtato and large pickles / pepper combo was a bit odd but it works ! Maxwell Polish : 3/5 Everything was still good, but it was missing something for me. I think the carmalize onions was very sweet so need a freshness quality to it, like pickle or Totmao. Lawd have mercy. Fly immediately to Chicago and run don't walk to Devil Dawg!! We came out of being tourists at the Hancock Building and right across the street is the famous Devil Dawg. We ordered Dah Big Chicago Dawg. The dog, mustard, onion, relish (which is turquoise and I don't know why and I don't care cause it's so good) a giant pickle, tomato and little peppers Called sport peppers. It was so good. So many flavors and they all go together! We also got the best onion rings I've had in a while. Cooked to order while you wait. They were simply the best. They have a lot of sauces, but the guy suggested their "Awesome sauce". I think it's just ranch and BBQ sauce. It was awesome. read more

Literally THE BEST shakes and malts on the planet! The Dawgs and burgers are excellent and there are so many options on how to dress them up! My first visit to this place to try my first ever Chicago Hot Dog. The place is a grimy twin of the SNL Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger sketch with Jon Belushi. The food was wonderful. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken. Ordering was done on a kiosk that did not precisely match the menu items listed on the wall. I mean dont get me wrong, maybe I'm just biased being from new york but I wanted to try a chicago style hot dog for the first time and maybe i made a mistake of getting a devil dawg as my first experience. The hot dog was just too salty and sour for me and the choice of toppings really threw me off. I know this is is conflicting with what most people say but I think I'm just not a fan of chicago dogs in general. Otherwise, the service was very quick, you can either order from the kiosk or the counter, and you can sit down and eat afterwards. Seems pretty crowded during lunch hours and there is limited seating indoors. read more

These devilish dawgs will have you on your hands and knees begging for more, daddy! My partner and I went all out with the taco dawg, bacon dawg, Chicago dawg, and chili cheese dawg. They did forget our chicken sandwich, but who cares? It's all about the hot dawgs here anyway! The taco dawg was giving everything, but honestly, they were all a spicy 10/10! This place is terrible. I went there last night and waited 20 minutes for a Chicago dog, and a cheeseburger with ketchup, mustard, and onions. And then when I arrived home I found out that they gave me a Chicago dog and a plain hamburger- seriously?!? I had been in there a previous time and a customer was complaining about how long the wait is and that he called ahead so he could avoid this wait and the cashier told that customer that "we make the food to order, our food is made fresh, and would get cold if we made it ahead of time." No where on Earth should it take 20 minutes for a hotdog and a cheeseburger. I grew up down the street from a similar place to devil dawgs called "Pops"- they are making the food to order as well but I have never waited more than 5 minutes for a hot dog and cheeseburger. I will never go back to devil dawgs, the tiny cheeseburgers and mediocre hotdogs aren't worth the wait. read more

Originally ordering from here I thought, "A hot dog is a hot dog and that's all it can be." How wrong I was. I haven't personally been to the restaurant itself, but I have ordered from here many times. Literally EVERYTHING on their menu not only sounds good, but IS good. I have yet to find something disappointing from here. If the food is that good on delivery, I can only imagine straight from the store. It's on my foursquare to-do list, top priority. I grew up loving Irving's and Michael's Merkt's cheese fries. I'm not sure if you have ever had it but it's delicious, especially if you're a fan of sharp cheddar. For some reason almost no good hot dog joints offer Merkt's cheddar cheese. I'd recommend a bucket of fries with the Merkt's cheddar sauce, maybe even add a little Coney Sauce to it :) Also, if you're into trying something interesting, the Elvis Burger is absolutely phenomenal. It has bacon, cheese, sriracha, and peanut butter. It definitely sounds a little funky but if you are into trying something spicy and sweet, try the Elvis. It's my new favorite burger. Quite possibly the absolute best hot dog I've ever had ANYWHERE. The Chicago dog was absolutely perfect. A perfect amount of the usual fixings. The one thing that makes Devil Dawgs dogs stand out lightyears above all else, is the SNAP. Every single bite you take you get that incredible SNAP of the dog. The shake are outstanding.
