Not real German food , green ( spinach ) Spatzels not heard of . Great German Beer. Pricey for what you get. Very loud !!

My husband and I stopped in for lunch this weekend with our two toddlers. I ordered the Reuben sandwich which was very good. My husband ordered the burger special and was disappointed due to his burger being way over cooked. The biggest let downs were the "kid meals". We ordered a hot dog and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was okay but the hot dog was so burnt that my daughter wouldn't touch it. The biggest shocker was the cost of the kid meals. The Mac and cheese was $11 and the hot dog was $9.50 !?! We eat out very often with our kids and I have never seen such expensive meals so poorly made. Needless to say, we will be crossing Devil's Acre off our list of places to eat out. Definitely not kid friendly and way over priced for over cooked food. read more

Went here a couple weeks ago, and I have to say this place left a good impression on me! I tried the Bacon Brulee dessert and although I was hesitant to try it, I'm glad I did. Also had one of their sandwiches (I forgot what it was called), but the dessert was more memorable to me. read more

I went there about 2 months ago for dinner. I had the pork shank which I liked. My fiancé had a steak with spinach and whoa was it salty. We informed the server of the over saltiness. Drinks were a bit pricy. Service was good. Probably go back but for beer and maybe try an appetizer. read more

I recently had my first experience at this restaurant. It's a very unique place with a cool decor. The drinks were excellent as was all of our meals. Service was friendly and in point. I will definitely be going back to try different offerings. Would recommend this restaurant for sure. read more

I have been here a few times so far, and for the most part, I have been very impressed! A few things to consider when you go... - The sausage and Schnitzel platters are BIG. My wife and I split a Schnitzel platter (which came with 2 sides) and it was plenty of food - The trotter app is fantastic, highly recommended - The cocktails are boozy and delicious - The beer list is great. Decent IPAs and sours along with a few good local offerings. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable and the servers have been wonderful. Apart from an unfriendly hostess one night and the plain pork Schnitzel being underwhelming, we have been very happy with our experience. read more

So, my wife has grown up in the area this place is located in, and has never been. We decided to finally go check it out one night. It was a little noisy and crowded, as you would expect of a tavern. The prices were a little higher than I would have guessed, and thus set the expectatoins of the food fairly high. The atmosphere was nice, decore was neat. It was clean and our server was very friendly. The dissapointment was the food. We order the pretzel nuggets, and while the cheese sauce was excellent, the pretzels themselves were so hot you couldnt even pick them up. On top of that, four out of the around 6 "bites" we got were burnt so badly the steak knife they gave me for my Prime Rib wouldn't cut through it compleatley, and i dropped a portion on the floor. My wife ordered Crab and Kielbasa mac and cheese, and it was so dry and full of bread crumbs that it was almost inedible. Litterally half the boat they served it in was Panko bread crumbs. Cost, $17. The prime rib that I had ordered came out, SWIMMING in Aus Jus. Every time I attempted to cut my prime rib, aus jus splattered everywhere. Now I spent 20 years working in the restaurant business, and I have never seen aus jus just dumped on a plate, or a guest served a burnt bread item. Cost of my aquatic Prime Rib? $26 I see many good reviews of this place, but honestly I feel like if you were looking for a Happy Hour bar, this place would be great. If you wanted to enjoy a quality meal, maybe look else where. I know for the cost to quality ratio, my wife and I will never return to this establishment, nor would I ever take an of my out of town friends or other Restaurant owners here. The way the food is served is embarrassing. I could go on about a few other things as a life time food service manager I saw that I wasn't thrilled about, but, they are minor things compared to what I've already been over. Keep your expectations low on this place, and you may not be as dissapointed as we were. read more

Nice little gem in Plumsteadville. I have driven by many times and often remarked how I wanted to stop in. Finally on one of the coldest nights of the year, my girlfriend and another friend found ourselves dining on some wonderful brats, burgers, and goulash. Our server Josh not only took care of us and made us feel at home but also was charming and entertaining. Great local restaurant in an area that's over run with Italian places. Well worth the stop in if you want something different. Oh yeah, don't forget to get the devil sauce barbecue wings. Those babies rocked! read more

Food was fabulous! We had the sausage sampler, everyone loved it! I had the crabcake which was delicious and added the sweet potato fries 'cause I was craving them! I had the Plumsteader drink fresh squeezed lime juice - so refreshing! Can't believe the transformation in this location from its previous life! Our waitress was also very attentive. It's a sign: The kale caesar used to be fabulous but recently they are slipping. Ditto for the wings and other menu staples. We took our friends to brunch there and the skillets were barely discernible from each other--flavors were blah and lacking. We have stopped here several times. The bartenders are always very friendly. I've tried most of the beers on tap and I have to say they are just ok. Couldn't find a favorite so that will limit my visit frequency. I love the food! We have had multiple meals and every one has been awesome. If you want a American beer to be aware that you will get it in the can. The place is quite a difference from the dive bar it used to be. Clean and a nice place to stop for an app. read more

My husband and I have officially made this our go to spot for when we go out to dinner. We went here because it replaced a bar we used to frequent so we figured why not give it a try and we are glad we did. I had the braised chicken as my entree and can't really find the words to describe it because it was that good. My husband had the hot dog as his entree that had "the best mustard he's ever had in his life" on it. We had the apple strudel for dessert which was equally as awesome as everything else. Good craft brew selection, not a fan of beers that are too hoppy and the waiter was really helpful in my beer selection. It's very clean and the atmosphere is very comfortable and they play pretty good music. read more

My husband and I came last night for a quick bite before a movie. The place is lovely - beautiful decor. The beer selection is spot on and their radlers (a beer/soda mixture) are delicious. He got a burger (he's picky - he really liked it) and I got the roast beef sandwich that was on an amazing salted/seeded roll. Everything was delicious and the server was wonderful. Their Schnitzel is just a deep fried piece of pork. I can make better at home and will from now on. Wanted to give the new place a try, Glad I did. Now I don't have to go again. Food is pricey. Saturday, April 22, 2017. Drove 35 minutes to try this place on the recommendation of friends. YUGE disappointment. Here's my tale of woe.... ordered cocktails... Bloody Mary was awful. Whatever it is they use for their home made Bloody Mary mix, they missed the mark(I think the addition of Olive juice was a mistake as it made the drink bitter). My wife ordered the Wurst & Sausage platter... 2 links of their sausage of the day(hot Italian sausage stuffed with Fontina cheese) and 2 links of Kielbasa. What arrived was 3 links of Italian sausage and 1 Kielbasa. We brought this to the attention of our server, showed her the platter and she confirmed it was incorrect. She asked if she could bring another link of Kielbasa and we said "yes, please". After an inordinate amount of time, she returned and said, "The chef said he delivered the platter personally and the order was correct"; basically, calling us liars. Irritated, we asked the server to bring the plate back to show the chef. After another unusually long time(admittedly now I am getting pissed), she returned, without the returned platter, without anything, except the check that I requested. We asked to speak with the chef. After ANOTHER long wait, she returned and said the chef would be out in a while as he was busy in the kitchen. We asked to speak with the manager. ANOTHER long wait... the manager comes to the table with an attitude saying he was tired of this matter and the server was crying?!?! Told him that our meal was ruined and that we would pay for the apps and the cocktails($48.79), but not the entree's. His response... if we don't pay for my entrée(they removed the Wurst Platter) he was "going to call the cops". At this point, I was irate!!! My wife, being the diplomat, explained everything that occurred, step-by-step, He said he was going to discuss this with the chef and left our table. Another longggggg wait, and the server returned with a check without the entree's charge. The "manager" never returned to our table to apologize, or attempt to make any amends. I sincerely hope that the owners of this establishment read this post and look into the deplorable service and attitude of the "manager". This guy needs to go to some classes on how to treat customers. I felt like I was on American Airlines! I will NEVER patronize this establishment again. read more

Went there last night with my wife and another couple. Place was packed but we had a reservation and got there a half hour early. Waited at the bar and tried some of the German beers. Got seated 15 minutes early. Pork schnitzel was a large portion and so good I ate the leftovers when I got home. Wife had the beef short ribs and she loved them. Wings were good. Service was good. Probably one of the best drinking and dining experiences I have had in a while. We will be back! read more

Best pork schnitzel we've had since Germany and the spaetzle was delicious as were both appetizers (tots and eggrolls). Great beer selection. My first visit was last month with husband and 22 year old son (the one we were visiting in Germany) and then last week with 2 girlfriends. There are probably 60 restaurants between my home and Devil's Acre but the atmosphere and food is worth the trip.The only reason I did not give it a 5 is the noise issue. We had a very difficult time on the second visit hearing each other as our table was right in the midst of the dining area whereas the first time our table straddled the dining room and the bar area. Noisy or not, heading back in 2 weeks with the other son in tow. read more

What a beautiful place to dine. The service was wonderful and our server couldn't have been more attentive. We started our meal with the kielbasa and cheese dip. I was worried it would be salty but it was perfect paired with the grilled bread. Our party of three each had something different. The roasted chicken was something my daughter couldn't wait to try and didn't disappoint while I had the pork shank. My husband had the wurst platter with a tasty, large portion of four different varieties. Everything paired with the perfect cocktail made for a wonderful dinner. The only thing we didn't try was dessert, which we rarely have room for.
