Arguably the most beautiful coffee shop I've ever set foot in. Came here on a weekday afternoon to try and get a little reading done. The front part of the shop contains their roasting equipment and you walk through a hallway to reach the shop itself. The place is absolutely gorgeous. High ceilings, a large glass window in the roof which allows natural light to come in, large couches and tables, and a tasteful greenery wall. There are coat racks scattered on the walls which are convenient. Also, don't be an idiot like me and try exploring upstairs - that's just the employee office haha. Ordered a flat white. Pastries looked tempting, but I held off. Also appears they serve donuts sourced from Dough. Prices do run a bit on the higher side. They take credit card via Square. My drink itself was good, no complaints. The only negative for me was that during midday, the sun comes in really hard toward the middle to back of the shop. On a cold day, that might be nice, but when I dropped by it was flipping hot and toasty in there as the weather has already been warming up. The light was so bright hitting against the far couch that no one was sitting there even though the coffee shop was packed - I think it'd be too hard to read or get any kind of work done there. An absolute gem if you haven't been here before. Devocion does Colombian coffee on an impressive scale never seen before in NYC. Located in Williamsburg not too far from the busy part of Bedford Avenue, you wouldn't know this place existed had you not looked it up or ventured away from the beaten path. With two alley-like entrances, you'll step into a massive warehouse filled with natural light emanating from the ceiling windows. Half of this warehouse is inaccessible as it is where Devocion store and make their Columbian coffee. But nevertheless, the customer area is large with plenty of seating. The whole place feels a bit rustic with exposed brick walls and distressed furniture. However, there is a modern feel with rectilinear accents, white and wooden counters, and greenery (plants) on the wall. I've actually been to this Devocion multiple times but on my most recent visit I realized I had never left a review! Regardless of how many times I've been since my first visit this spot definitely warrants it's five stars. For all the time times I've returned back here I hope it's seen as testament to how great this cafe is. My friend and I walked in around 4 on a Sunday afternoon. As always, there was a line to order and all the tables were full. This cafe is located a short walk away from the Bedford stop in Brooklyn and boasts a large and airy space with tons of natural light flooding in from the ceiling. It's the perfect place to read, study, or catch up with a friend and it seems to me that everyone is in on the secret. My friend and I decided that one of us would scout to see if a table opened up while the other ordered our drinks. I was the one who ordered and we both ended up getting their one sized cold brew ($4.75). It definitely got the job done. As previously mentioned the space itself is the major draw for this place. The staff sets it up so that you could comfortably spend a few hours here (be it relaxing or working) while enjoying all the products they have to offer. They roast their coffee in house and pride themselves with having that aroma fill the air as their customers enjoy their beverages. Overall a wonderful place to grab a cup of coffee in Williamsburg. I tried the place because their beans are sourced from Columbia and stayed for the beautiful building! They have a huge atrium that lets in natural light and plants surrounding the walls. There are tables that are designated as "No Laptop" tables so if you're looking to study I'd be wary and try coming during less crowded hours. I love Devocion, its a great place to grab a coffee, read or work under natural light, and fight for space or seating. That's right, get your fisticuffs out and prepare to confront strangers about whether "that seat is available" or "can i borrow that chair" or "are you waiting on someone".. at some point you have to ask, "sir, i think you should give this table up for me, your friend clearly stood you up" Once you do get your table, be sure to hold on to it for dear life... you might notice a stranger approach you as you put a book into your bag, assuming that you're packing up to leave and others who are standing around looking for seating will be analyzing your every move, assessing when you'll be getting up. The banana bread here is to die for, get it. The natural light, is great, it really sets a nice mood! The ambiance, plants, decor, and the entrance are all really cool, and add to the aesthetic. One of my absolute favorite coffee shops! There's no other spot like it. I wish it wasn't so out of the way, otherwise I'd be here all the time. Their coffee beans are much fresher than what you'd get at other places and they grind it in store. You can really taste the difference. Beautifully lit space due to the large skylight. Lovely wall of greenery and plants. Big comfortable couches (gotta get there early to snag a spot though). There's lot of space here and it's very inviting. Me and my girlfriend discovered this place while walking around Brooklyn. The outside looked a little bit cool so we decided to walk in to grab a coffee . We grabbed a latte and a cappuccino. After the coffee was made, the coffee was cold because of the skim milk they added. My girlfriend, then noticed the coffee was literally cold one minutes after receiving it. I went back to the cashier to ask her if she had a microwave to reheat the coffee up again because it was cold. The people at the register told me there's nothing they can do about it. I was desperate for wifi and I stopped here for this main reason. The ambiance is very lively here, as there are plants in the middle of the cafe surrounded by couches and chairs. I went to Devocion afternoon and it was a full house. If someone would have not gotten up as they were leaving, i wouldnt have found a seat. the layout of this place could use less tables, as a lot of alone people hog the 2 person tables for themselves and unfortunately the tables aren't big enough where 2 strangers could sit across each other to share space unless you do not mind sitting very near a stranger as you sip your coffee and are in your laptop. I spent $3 for a drip and decided not to get anything else because everything was expensive and I know I could get for cheap elsewhere. Probably because I happened to walk into another place in gentrified Brooklyn. She completely ruined my day. I love the shop in Flatiron but not sure I would go back to either anymore. I create a lot of content on social media and have a lot of places inviting me to come. This place lives upto expectations. You often hear that devocion has the best coffee in NYC and I would second that! Not only is the coffee delicious but the ambiance is great! They have a large skylight that allows you to feel like you are on a patio having a nice coffee. Be prepared to pay top dollar for any coffee you decide to get but is is wel worth it. I went on a saturday and it was rather busy, hard to get seating and there is no wifi on weekends. There are many coffee shops in NYC and while finding one that does the roasting too (like Devocion) will help you narrow it down let me try and help narrow it down even further. This one is my favorite!! I've been to dozens of coffee shops and purveyors and Devocion takes the top of the podium for me. The atmosphere is unmatched(the industrial space with plants throughout is very cozy). They are pretty streamlined from a service standpoint to knock out the line on a busy Saturday and the pastries are sooooo delicious. (I'm a stickler for a good croissant and there's are so fresh and flakey. Do it! Get one...) But let's be honest, we are here for the coffee... and yes it's my favorite too. This Colombian based company invested in the best cup around, by going from farm to roasting to cup in just about 10 days. So fresh. So delicious! Soooo...you should go! read more

Their aromatics are the only option for non-coffee drinkers/ caffeine avoiders. The Ginger kiwi date mint one is pretty stellar iced, though the barista told me its wonderful hot as well. Beware that seating is scare inside and you may have to wait to snag a spot! The glass section of the roof also means you'll get a super bright glare at some points in the day. After ordering my drink the cashier asked me if I needed the Wi-Fi. Thinking he was being considerate, I thought for a moment and replied yes. Then he proceeded to launch into a lecture about how they don't allow dogs so I can't actually stay with my dog. I responded that he is a service animal assuming he couldn't see my dogs service animal vest. He rolled his eyes and the said "oh and you have the paperwork in case the department of health comes?" I was a bit taken a back, but answered "yes" to which he rudely responded "yeah sure." He clearly asked if I wanted the wi-fi to make a point. Let's take a moment to educate your employees. 1) there is no paperwork for service dogs in the USA or a single registry so if the "department of health came" I have zero need to provide paperwork (that's the law). 2) you can only ask if an animal is task trained to assist with a disability 3) you cannot ask or assume the nature of the disability or ask what disability. The people who have "paperwork" actually have bought this stuff off of Amazon/and have fake service dogs. Which gets to my last point. I totally understand that people fake service dogs (it's a shame because my dog is trained as a medical alert animal and I spent years and thousands on his training) BUT that being said you cannot be rude and say that stuff about the department of health when there is no basis. Let me repeat. There is NO paperwork or a single registry for service animals. As part of the American with Disabilities Act the only thing needed is a verbal confirmation. I had just gotten of a plane at LaGuardia and was looking forward to sitting down and enjoying my iced latte but this interaction left a sour taste in my mouth and I left. I really should have taken the time to educate this guy but I was too exhausted and didn't think it would go anywhere. Fake service dogs are an issue, but let's not ruin it for people like myself who rely on my dog to prevent a medical episode. Not all disabilities are visible and not all service animals are golden retrievers. I implore the managers to make themselves knowledgable about this issue and pass it along to everyone. read more

After seeing many great reviews and coming from out of state where coffee shops were fantastic, I had to give the spot a try. First impression was solid. The atmosphere was great, the style was unique and certainly a vibe, and the servers were generally knowledgeable and friendly. There was one experience my second time going here where the server was clearly not having a great day and was a bit unnecessarily distant. Ordered a coffee, he was clearly copping an attitude, and then it appeared he immediately made the cold brew but didn't even let me know that it was mine. The other server behind there was like yes that is a cold brew but I'm not sure if it's you. That same server this was going back to take orders and I was left wondering if I was taking my coffee or someone else's. Anyway, overall impression is would return. Just beware are you that seating may not be easily available even no the actual coffee and the indoor seating are definitely what makes this place attractive. Hipster AF coffee shop. They have wifi (only on weekdays) and a ton of seating so it's great for getting a lot of work done / studying. It's crowded the entire day but don't let that deter you. Turnover moves quickly, so if you don't get a table with an outlet at first just stick around. I was there for 6 hours on a Friday (noon-6pm) and it seemed as though a new table opened up every 15-30mins. Their cold brew is decent, though I'm not a coffee snob. Used to absolutely love this place but it's severely declined. I love pour over coffees and it's the main reason I go to Devocion. Yesterday my partner and I waited in line for 25 minutes, when we got to the front the barista told us "no pour overs today, we don't have filters". This has happened 3-4 times in the past 1-2 months of going to Devocion. Their drip coffee has also been burnt and unpredictable the last few times I've visited, so we left. This place is absolutely lovely. The wide sky-lit room, luscious plants, and variety of charming seating make the atmosphere of this place as nice and refreshing as the photos suggest. Its a wonderful place to chill whether its chatting with friends or doing some work on your laptop. Coffee is good. The sparkling cascara (cold fizzy beverage made out of the coffee cherries of our favorite plant) on tap here is definitely a new coffee related favorite of mine. Its bright with a light sweetness that is aromatic and refreshing. The guy at the cash register was really nice/thoughtful and took time with each customer to address their questions and needs, he offered me a sample of what was on tap without me having to ask. The only downside to that is that the line moves slow at times! The only minor negatives are 1) like many nice cafes, it can get crowded and it may be hard to find a seat at times. Once people sit down they stay for awhile! 2) I dont know if its the plants, roasting coffee, or a plumbing issue, but upon entering there is a definite dank musty odor. You can get over it but I genuinely get whiffs reminiscent of manure or foot when I am sitting. I'm happy to go to Devocion whenever I'm in the burg and its definitely a must-stop coffee place for when I have coffee loving family/friends visiting me in NY. Farm-to-table is probably the most trendy concept nowadays, and no wonder Devocion is quickly becoming one of the most mentioned coffee shops in Williamsburg. Sourced in Colombia, Devocion roasted its own coffee beans and provided me the most delicious espresso drinks I've had for a while.
