I have add Dewey pest control for 8 years and the service has been pretty good other than notes from calls not received by techs for additional service. Customer service is not very good, I feel Dewey is more about bottom line than customer service. I had an issue with 2 payments not processing due to a cc not being updated with new info so The 2 payments bounced back to my account. Resolved the cc issue online but Dewey needs a full annual payment upfront because if it. There was no work with customer, acknowledging the minor mishap. I was a faithful customer of Dewey Pest control for several years, probably 15 or more. I maintained a monthly service, paid on time, never even complained when they constantly increased their price, and never once asked them to come back between services, even if I saw a roach...seemed silly and I knew I would see them next month. I liked their technicians [and even when two of them left Dewey and tried to take me with them, I said NO, I'M A DEWEY CUSTOMER, and never left...now I should find THOSE phone numbers.] I would still be a customer to this day...EXCEPT...in January my son suffered an aortic dissection. He nearly died and I rushed to Idaho to be with him. Anyone who doesn't know what that is, it's what KILLED John Ritter...so pretty serious. Because I wasn't home in February, because a family MEDICAL EMERGENCY seemed more important than being in California getting pest control during the off season, I let the technician know and they gave me a credit for February 2025. However, on March 11, 2025 @ 10:43 a.m., I had a call from Dewey saying they couldn't continue to provide Pest control because I canceled too many times. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt because it's possible I missed December because it was Christmas, but they can counter this if necessary. I explained the situation, that I was out of state, my son was having HEART SURGERY the following week (March 17) and after that, I would be home and ready to continue service. I honestly think they wanted to get rid of their small accounts for a long time, because a few years ago they suggested I do quarterly service instead of monthly. Mind you, I pay almost $70 a month, it takes the technician less than 5 minutes, because my whole place is 800 square feet, but I opted to keep my monthly service. I then got a text from my technician asking if he could do service on March 25. I responded that I spoke to their manager and let him know I would be back home on March 26, so no, to March 25. I heard nothing further. So now it's close to service time in April. I'm home, even though my BF just had major back surgery, so I texted the technician to confirm we will start up service this month, April 2025, only to find out that yep, they canceled me. I understand there are other services and I'm looking for one now, but in the meantime, I just wanted to let Dewey know that after all these years I would have expected something better than this. Having recently taken over the Property Management responsibilities - which included a building in Van Nuys - I've gotten familiar with this particular branch of the organization and its various technicians. Would they continue to do my family and I proud...or would their extermination be considered!?: The Company - Founded by Ray M. Dewey in 1929, it began as a one-man operation that has since flourished into an organization of hundreds of technicians, crew workers, inspectors, fumigators, and office personnel. In 1977, Steven R. Dewey purchased the company from his father. Today, this family-owned business has 32 branches throughout California. They offered a slew of pest control services based on one's needs. Standard Monthly Service ($52.00) - This chosen service treated the given property once a month for general pest control of a myriad of critters (ants, mice, roaches, spiders, silverfish, etc.) which included up to two units, any laundry and storage rooms, and the entire exterior. Sadly, this didn't include bedbugs or bees which were expensive separate charges. This specific service was just right for the particular 8-unit complex this branch covered. Service - From the time I called and usually spoke with one of the many friendly and helpful Customer Service Reps. at the end of the previous month to schedule treatment for the following month to having dealt with the various technicians the date of the treatment, everyone along the way has been easy to work with and professional. When you made an appointment, you were usually given a 2-hour courtesy window, which wasn't bad at all. A special shout-out went to Chris Merino who has been our Technician for the past couple of years. His cheerfulness, efficiency yet attention-to-details (his service calls lasted between 15-25 minutes total), informative knowledge, and patient demeanor were always appreciated. One of their so called professional Troy came to my tenant's unit, and although there was plenty of evidence of rats in both the unit and the building in general, he did not offer any specific solutions to resolve the rat problem. Instead he put what he called a courtesy rat trap and left . The building has hired them , and the entire building is still struggling with the rat issue. I had to hire another Pest Control company and the new pest control company resolved my unit's issue within 24 hours by patching entry points and offered a 6 months guarantee. Something that Dewey did not offer. Very disappointed with the way they handled the unit.When I told them about it, they blamed it on the fact that my tenant's unit was not tidy. But the reality is that the new pest control company was able to resolve the issue without making up excuses. I do not recommend them at all. read more

A door to door sales man just came to my front door, great I actually used to have Dewey services and was recently thinking of calling them again. HOWEVER I WILL NOT NOW! I have 3 pit bulls that bark and run to the door when someone knocks. Instead of opening the door and scaring the guy half to death I peaked they window and said no thanks. Got dogs put away and I ran out to him. He was at my neighbors and I asked him if he could come over when he was finished. His response was rude and arrogant. Steve came by my house to inspect a possible dry wood termite that before I purchase my house had been diagnosed by another company to be present. It turns out that was not the case and all I needed was just a subterranean termite treatment that didn't require renting my home. I not only saved myself money but a headache trying to find a hotel that would accept my dog for a couple of days. Was told they'd be here between 8:30 and 11:30 AM. No one showed or called, so I called them at noon and was told they'd find out what happened and get back to me. They did not call me back as of 3:00 PM, so I called them again. Finally got someone on the phone that did not know about my appointment and began to run thru names of people that work our area to see if any of them sounded familiar. They did not. They then offered to send someone out three days later. I finally said 'screw it' and called another company. Six and a half hours I waited to hear they could come by in three days. No, thanks. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY! The person who came into my apartment was rude. I was asking questions and he seemed indifferent to my presence, he began spraying before I left the apartment. I asked him to spray the entire apartment and he said they only spray the kitchen and bathroom. The whole building has a roach problem so I wanted the whole apartment sprayed. He didn't even stay inside spraying for longer than 10 minutes. Anyways I'll be talking to the landlord to switch companies to termix they provided amazing service lastime they were here and the roaches actually were gone for about 6 months. I think that the response of Dewey to my earlier post is quite interesting. On the one hand Paul S. states that Dewey denied my claim on the basis that they couldn't inspect my roof because I had it repaired, but then does on to state that Dewey only broke 45 roof tiles, not the 88 that my roofer found broken (notwithstanding the fact that they had the roofer's written report, which included pictures, that supports the fact that approximately 88 roof tiles were damaged). So, while Dewey now admits that they have evidence that they broke at least 45 of my roof tiles, Dewey still refused to reimburse me for any part of the damage that they caused, or even discuss an amicable resolution of my claim. Interesting logic. They sound like Washington politicians. read more

Tony B. has been my technician for as long as I can remember. He's absolutely amazing! He's always exceptionally communicative, informative (whenever I have questions), and friendly. I'm often away at work when he comes to my home. Even though I'm away, Tony has always been diligent about securing/locking up my side gate when he leaves. Just had to switch our service to a new area and we are very sad. We will have to get a new technician to come to our house after having Troy has been coming to our home on and off for 10 years. Troy is the most conscientious person noticing we had animals and taking it upon himself to make sure that they were all taken care of and not harmed with any treatments.
