I had been looking forward to this dinner for a while. The place is so cute and the menu has some delicious looking dishes. The bread with whipped ricotta was the star of the meal. Fresh, hot and satisfying. The cocktails were average and my Hugo spritz was unimpressive. No fresh mint. Where are things really took a turn was on the steak Florentine. Not only did it take an exceptionally long time to reach our table, but it was completely overcooked. Very disappointing for the first time at this restaurant. The server noted he could replace it, but it would take a long time so he offered to comp us dessert which was appreciated. On a positive note, the Genovese alla Paccheri was tasty. If I were to try the restaurant again, I would probably get that dish. We took dessert to go. The tiramisu was solid. We also got a blackberry tart, which was probably the best thing and the Italian rainbow cookie, which was dry. As far as the interior of the restaurant, it is a really cute vibe. It was a hot and humid evening and all of the windows were open so the restaurant got quite hot so it was a bit uncomfortable. Parking was a challenge, but that's to be expected at the strip. We might give this spot another try, but I feel like there are so many better restaurants.
My first restaurant since moving to Pittsburgh! We went on a Friday night and the restaurant was packed. We waited about an hour for our food which was kind of frustrating but they were absolutely slammed. Our server even brought us a second plate of bread and oil to make up for it (which we appreciated)! The food was worth the wait! Loved heirloom pasta and gnocchi w/ meatballs were delicious as well!! We also got tiramisu for dessert (not pictured) yeah, no. The mascarpone was dense and I believe they used cake instead of the ladyfingers. It genuinely pretty bad and I wouldn't get it again which sucked because tiramisu is my go to dessert (also pretty pricey for the portion we got). At that said, I will be back to try other dishes!
diAnoia's absolutely lived up to the hype! The restaurant was hopping, but the service was warm, attentive, and never missed a beat. The whipped ricotta with lemon and crostini was a perfect start, the butter bean salad with cucumber and tomato was unbelievably fresh and outstanding, and the Caprese panzanella was beautifully balanced with incredible seasonal flavor. You can taste the quality in every bite. We can't wait to come back!
Have been here a few times. Have had delicious meals every time, from the pasta to desserts.
I can't comment on the venue yet, but their meatballs at Little Italy were great and a great size so that I didn't feel too bad about spending $12 on them. Their team members were positive to interact with. I did not get one, but their spritzes and drinks also looked very good. They succeeded at keeping their line moving efficiently at the busy Little Italy festival.
Loved our lunch at DiAnoia's. The ambiance is inviting as soon as you enter: an attractive bar, cool casual artsy decor that calls to mind a bright Italian cafe; and plenty of seating options. For lunch you order at the deli counter, and there are so many excellent options to choose from (particularly pasta and sandwiches). Portions are very generous, so two people could easily share one sandwich, one pasta dish (but we happily ordered a couple so that we could try different things). Highly recommend the Italian sub and the veal Parmesan sandwich! Service was friendly and easy. Wish I lived in Pittsburgh or I would go back all the time!
Heard this place had the best Italian in the city. It did not disappoint. My wife and I were seated on the second level, which I felt like removed us from the energetic and vibing atmosphere on the first level. But honestly, we didn't come for the atmosphere, we came for the food. The bread and oil was fresh. The gnocchis are huge giant pillows, but still go down light. The scampi was super flavorful. The tiramisu had great flavor. All the employees went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable experience. We will look forward to coming here again!
Such a live restaurant! This place is always so busy and can be hard to get a reservation so if you plan to go do it early in advance! The staff were very polite! I tried the Gnocchi Sorrentina Bread Bowl and added the meatball! Lots of sauce and lots of cheese that's for sure! It was an interesting taste! I wipe say a bit overwhelming trying to figure out how to eat it! I would definitely go back here and would Probably want to try something different!
Nice Italian eatery serving cookies, sandwiches l, pasta and coffees during brunch and a sit down during dinner. The pasta was fresh and tasted good, the sandwich and cheesecake even better.
The food here is the real deal. Dishes that you would never think would taste amazing based on their simplicity were the STAR of the show! Pasta with simple ingredients like tomatoes & basil was a top favorite. Soup with beans and Italian sausage was great. Everyone left here stuffed. The tiramisu and steak was just alright, but the atmosphere with the decor and small feel was beyond perfect to make you feel like you were in a little place in Italy.
Friday dinner here while in town for the weekend. I had originally made a reservation for 10 just in case the baseball game ran over, but received a call that earlier times had opened up. We moved the reservation to 9 and came there shortly before. To start, we ordered the bread and whipped ricotta, as well as the brussel sprouts. The bread was massive and the whipped ricotta was a nice touch. The brussel sprouts were also good - served with a sweet glaze and thick cubed pork belly. For my entree I ordered the gnocchi and meatballs which was incredibly large. The gnocchi were the size of rectangular pillowed donut holes. They almost were the same size as the meatballs. The sauce was also nicely seasoned and had a good flavor. I also added a half size of the cacio e Pepe. Easily one of the top 5 places I have had this dish. The sauce was perfectly flavored with pepper, plenty of sauce so it didn't stick to the pasta and become just a clumped mess - and the right size. For dessert I ordered the berry brown butter pastry. This was a perfect size and packed great flavor. Multi-leveled but still bright while being rich. I liked this place - can be loud, but they also have outdoor seating. My only wish would be that you could order pizza from Davide which is attached to the back of this location.
Located near The Strip and only a half block from the bus stop. Lovely two story with dining areas on both levels. Beautifully decorated to look like you are eating in Italy. Friendly servers. Nice wine selection with very decent prices. They give you fresh bread and a small plate of olive oil with balsamic drizzle to dip the bread. That was delicious. Would have been five stars except my Stuffed Shells were served slightly warm ish. But they tasted good. Would have been fabulous if it was served hot and fresh. Their homemade meatballs are good but a little too dense. We ordered a glass of Super Tuscan and a glass of Cab Sav. The Cab Sav was delicious. Ended the meal with tiramisu for my birthday. This place is so cool looking and much bigger than I realized from the outside. We showed up early Saturday evening and they seated the four of us upstairs. It was so nice. Theres even a cute little balcony overlooking the downstairs and Im a sucker for theming. Our server was very helpful creating a vegan dish for my husband but alas the creamy mushroom sauce won him over. I tasted it. It was amazing! The kids menus came with crayons and a very nice create your own pasta for kids with seasonal veggies. The kids cookies looked huge and delicious too as an add on. The free bread service was nice but I think we saw the paid upgrade version and it looked amazing. So if we ever go with a bigger party we will definitely be doing that. It is a bit pricey so dinner there is definitely a nice treat and not a weekly thing for us My only note is that I wish there was a salad with the entree.

Did not disappoint! Great atmosphere and just amazing food. Drink menu was fantastic too. Had a reservation for 3pm Easter and was seated promptly. We never felt rushed as we had appetizers, dinner , dessert and espresso ! Very attentive waitress without being annoying. I'll be back for sure. read more

The pasta and vibes here are so good!! Came here on a Saturday night and was seated right away with a reservation. The decor was super cute and service was pretty fast. I got the pollo arrosto for my entree and loved how creamy and cheesy this dish tasted. I was pleasantly surprised that the dish had quite a kick to it as well. Known for their meatballs and now I see why! They were delicious! So tender! The prosciutto sandwich was delicious as well as the Italian. Chocolate croissant was a great end to the lunch! Staff was very friendly and gave us great recommendations! Pasta looked amazing! read more
This is hands down the best Italian restaurant in Pittsburgh!! If you still haven't been here yet; here is your sign to make that reservation :) I have been here probably around 10+ times and the food ALWAYS slays. I've gotten a few different pasta dishes, but my go to is the gnocchi. This last time I went I tried the gnocchi Sorrentino bread bowl. Wow it was incredible. That sauce was 10/10. For an appetizer, we always get the fresh bread, oil, and parmigiano reggiano and add the whipped ricotta. The bread is ginormous and the whipped ricotta is addicting. Their tiramisu is also amazing. If you like tiramisu I would definitely try it. They have a great wine list and cocktail menu as well. read more

The food Is incredible. Whipped Ricotta was smooth and full of flavors. Roasted Cauliflower did not disappoint. It was crunchy and had a burst of flavor with each bite. We had the Zeppoles for dessert they were just like the ones I had growing up in NY. Debbie had a tarte it had a flower on it she said it was yummy. Debbie had a huge pasta dish full of flavor and a lot of added items. Sausage looked yummy. I had the Half Roasted Chicken cooked to perfection. Please make a reservation this place is crazy busy all the time. Parking Is not easy but with a few turns you can find a spot or garage parking a few blocks away. Went back again. Food beyond fabulous. Whipped Ricotta yummy. Service was excellent. I promise you won't be disappointed. Favorite dining experience. Best Food EVER. read more

This place is a gem! A must try! The place itself is very cute with indoor, outdoor sitting plus a bar area. The service was beyond hospitable with great knowledge of their menu and ingredients. Shout out to Gina, who was absolutely brilliant and the food was spectacular. Every dish was delicious and the quality was superb. This is a must visit place for amy occasion. They serve half portions of their dishes and they are all truly accommodating on any dietary restrictions. read more
This place is super cute! It actually gives a small feel of Italy when you walk in. The food was delicious. The house was full but service was still good. Finally got the chance to eat here! Everything we ordered was delicious and the portions were large enough that we could take some home. Service was a bit slow at times but nothing to really complain about. They did end up running out of tiramisu but we were the last table there at the end of the night. I stopped by for lunch here yesterday for the first time! The ambiance is nice, very unique design elements like chandeliers made from bottles and glasses. During the time that I went you are asked to take a menu, get in line, and order at a counter. I'm not sure if it is like this at all times of the day. I ordered the Aglio E Olio and shared the whipped ricotta. The pasta tasted fresh, but I wish it wasn't so cooked. If I go again I will definitely make sure to specify al dente when ordering. The whipped ricotta and toasted bread was definitely the star for me, better than the main dish! I also saw some great looking desserts, but didn't have time to get any. Overall this was a good first stop in, and I would definitely recommend stopping in if you haven't before. Hopefully I will get to give it another try soon. read more

We went on a Sunday afternoon for early dinner. Not packed, just a nice amount of customers in a friendly atmosphere. The Gnocchi Pumpkin Bowl was fantastic, with the pumpkin being nicely roasted, which added to the great flavor. The gnocchis were big and pillowy, and the sauce was cheesy and delicious! The portions were large, enough for two leftover dinners! The bread with whipped ricotta was amazing, as well as the Gnocchi and Meatballs. To top it off, the service and cocktails were perfect! My boyfriend and I wanted to go here for our anniversary, but I was struggling to get a reservation. I called the restaurant, and the hostess told me that they accept walk-ins at the bar and the high top tables. We figured we would give it a shot, and to our surprise, we got a table within 20 minutes. The complimentary focaccia bread came plated on top of an oil and balsamic mixture; it was to die for! I ordered the gnocchi and meatballs. The gnocchi were quite large, but they were cooked very well! The meatballs were also huge, but they were perfectly tender. I also ordered a cocktail comprised of vodka, black tea, and cucumber, and it was very refreshing. I decided to go with a glass of wine for my second drink, and the waiter was keen on helping me find the perfect type. We had a great first experience, and we definitely plan to return with some of our family and friends in the near future! read more

Food: 3/5 Maybe it was because we came in with high expectations, but we left rather disappointed. Gnocchi: The gnocchi was cooked well, but you could hardly taste the pecorino and the marinara tasted one dimensional. If someone told me the marinara was just a blended can of San Marzano tomatoes- no onions or garlic- I would have believed it. Meatballs were tender. Agnello All'amatriciana: the bolognese has a bit more dimension than the marinara (as should be expected) but our dish was on the salty side and overall unremarkable. Despite the pasta being made in-house, it lacked that distinctly smooth yet almost bouncy texture that I expect from fresh pasta. The best thing about the meal was the bread in olive oil and some balsamic honestly. Ambiance: Nice interior decoration with a variety of seating, including indoor and outdoor. However, they DO NOT HAVE AC OR EVEN OVERHEAD FANS. It was 80 degrees out and we were uncomfortably warm for our hour long meal. Absolutely loved our lunch here. We had the whipped ricotta, which was excellent but could have benefited from a sprinkle of salt, delicious tender meatballs and a wonderful caprese sandwich with burrata. We live out of town but look forward to coming back. Great service as well. They have a market half a block away so I was able to pick up a pint of the whipped ricotta. Atmosphere was neat, always a good environment in the strip. My pasta (spring carbonara) was average, I was expecting more from everyone's fantastic reviews. DiAnoia's has become our fave Italian restaurant and a go to spot anytime we come to Pittsburgh. The food is so delicious- you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. This time we had the roasted cauliflower appetizer, roasted potatoes, meatballs and sauce and rigatoni pasta with pork meatballs (a brand new addition on the menu) and loved every single bite. The new pasta dish with pork meatballs was a standout as it had an excellent red sauce and paired perfectly with the burrata on top. But what sets this place apart for us is the service. We love sitting at the bar and our servers went out of their way to make us feel like part of the restaurant family. Manami is one the best bartender/servers that we've ever had. She even remembered us from the previous year and made us feel so welcome. And shout out to Caleb as well who made a great old fashioned for us. Can't recommend this place enough- and we can't wait to come back for more! read more

My favorite Italian restaurant in Pittsburgh! Everything I've ever ordered here has been absolutely delicious, even as take-out meals. I highly recommend making a reservation several weeks in advance, since the restaurant is on the smaller side and very popular. However, if you don't make one, you should be okay to get a table arriving before 6pm or willing to wait about 30mins. I ordered the gnocchi bread bowl and it was incredible!! The vodka sauce was creamy and smooth with a wonderful tomato and Italian seasoning flavor. The gnocchi was handmade, fresh, and stuffed with potato and cheese for an excellent bite. Even the bread bowl itself was delicious! It had olive oil brushed along the outside, was fluffy, and had a slightly buttery flavor. It held its shape so the sauce didn't leak out, but was still soft and soaked up the sauce flavor as well. The bowl itself is giant and definitely large enough for at least 2 meals. For the size and high quality of food they serve, it's absolutely worth the price to treat yourself. read more

Every time I come home to visit family they make a reservation at DiAnoia's. Its tradition at this point. My niece and nephew always get the gnocchi sorrentina bread bowl. Every pasta dish you get will be good. The best part is once you finish your meal and you are stuffed full of pasta, you can walk over to the dessert window and pick out what you'll be snacking on next. We came to this restaurant during their Negroni week last year, which was such a fun event to experience! After that, we enjoyed two delicious and unique cocktails at the bar before we were seated. The ambiance of the dining area is very pretty and classy, while still comfortable. We had a delicious kale salad, and their homemade focaccia bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar was amazing! Our entrees were the gnocchi in a bread bowl and the pork. All the homemade bread was excellent, the pork was very flavorful and the gnocchi were perfect fluffy pillows! Our service was great too. We've been trying to get into this restaurant for almost a year. Always booked, so I finally got us a reservation on a Friday. It was before a show at the Benedum. It was Saint Patrick's Day, so maybe folks weren't looking for Italian food on that night! So happy we finally found out for ourselves about all the hype around this place. It was fantastic Italian food. Probably one of the best in the city. It was raining when we got to the restaurant and the hostess showed us to our table upstairs. We had to walk through a tiled hallway which because of the water tracked in, had become a little slippery. I mentioned this to our hostess as we got to the table, but she seemed rather indifferent to my advising her of a potential liability. Oh well, that was the only negative thing I have to say about the entire evening. We ordered some drinks to start. We had some signature cocktails that were tasty. I was the only one who ordered a salad with my meal. I have to say it was the best house salad I've ever had. Loaded with chick peas, olives, roasted red pepper, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and lovely mixed greens, it could have been a meal on it's own. We got some bread to go with the cocktails which came with a creamy ricotta cheese topping mixed with olive oil. I've never had anything like that before. Between that and the salad I could easily have been sated. It was wonderful! Our entrees ranged from gnocchi with a meat ball, to Cacio e Pepe to Vongole linguine (clam sauce). All were homemade pasta and all were delicious. Those who ordered the gnocchi had enough to take home for lunch the next day. I ate all my Vongole. The Cacio e Pepe was so creamy and decadent, my daughter couldn't help but clean her plate too. Our server was very efficient and nice. The atmosphere upstairs was nice and quiet and the artwork on the walls was interesting. The ladies room was clean and well stocked. Overall, an excellent dining experience and I hope to get back again to try out more dishes. read more
