No joke, they are harsh critics when it comes to desserts and to see them enjoy every bite was definitely a SLAM DUNK. I legit couldn't cut the cake fast enough!! On a side note, thank you Nicole for immediately reaching out to me regarding my disappointment. She handled the situation in a prompt and professional manner. I appreciated her genuineness and heartfelt concern about my issues. 3 stars overall but one additional star for Nicole's customer service. She truly cares about her clients. Business is booming for SBD for obvious reasons and my only warning would be the glitch in communication. Be aware that you may need to reach out and send a few reminder pokes. ---------------------------------------------------- I really wanted to like this small business, I really had high hopes. Unfortunately Sweets By Design is an absolute bust!! After a not so good first impression with SBD during my baby shower planning, I still wanted to give Nicole and her business a try. Since we were never really able to celebrate the birth of my daughter the way we wanted, my husband and I wanted to make her 6 month [[half]] bday a little bit sweeter. I decided to reach out and see if Nicole could help me with our cake. To start off, the issues with communication was just as bad as the 1st time around. I reached out to the business via Instagram on 9/26 and got a response back quickly. I informed the cake's pick up date and sent over 3 designs that I was potentially looking at. I ended up settling with the pastel, drip, macaron, & sprinkles design [see attached photo]. A quote was promised the following day [9/27] and NOTHING WAS RECEIVED. Nicole did reach out 2 days later with the pricing and I was ready to place my order and get the ball rolling. NO RESPONSE. I dm again asking for a cake flavor listing so I can finalize the order and process whatever cost that is needed. AGAIN, CRICKETS! I am forced to reach out yet again on 9/30 asking if she was going to be able to make the cake adding that important details and payment had not yet been able to be finalized. At that point I finally get a response. The entire process of working with this baker is just more stressful than it should. An email was sent to confirm cake info and the filling listed was incorrect. Then 2 days prior to pick up, I have to message Nicole again about an address as to where I need to pick up my order. She then sends another revised email. Cake- My husband was left with the job of picking up the cake since I have an infant to attend to. He comes home with a cake that is nice BUT NOT WHAT I ORDERED. The drip design was nowhere to be found. At this point, I question whether or not the cake & the filling is even correct. I am super let down by what was delivered, even after all the detailed discussion with Nicole. I have dm'd her through IG & sent her texts regarding my disappointment so we'll see how that goes. I'll update my review if/when I hear back from someone regarding this matter.

My virtual baby shower was boba themed so my friend sent a picture of one of the graphics my sister made for me for the baby shower as inspiration for the boba cake. The cake (picture attached) looked just like the graphic and was perfect! I liked that she used an actual boba straw for the top and that it was very detailed and cute. Everyone who was able to see it online thought it was a perfect boba cake. For flavorings, my friend and husband chose the lemon with raspberry (I think) filling. It was one of the hottest days in the Silicon Valley (over 100 degrees) but the cake kept fine in the car and sitting out. The cake itself was moist, not too sweet and had the right amount of lemon flavoring. The raspberry part was also very good. Overall, no complaints about the texture or flavor of the cake. I'm not the hugest fan of fondant so I'm not the best judge but the overall icing was fine as well. Overall, very impressed with the style, design and execution of the cake. The flavor was also good!

The communication was quick and very professional. She gave me several options to choose from (budget-wise) and took all of my inspiration pictures to heart. The cake was ready exactly on time and way cuter than I had hoped for! Not only was it super adorable, it was delicious. I am not a huge fan of red velvet usually (too sweet), but my husband really loves it so that's the flavor we picked. When we cut into the cake, everyone wanted a second piece. It wasn't overly sweet and paired perfectly with the cream cheese inside. I wish that I was able to get a 2nd piece, my husband didn't even get a piece since everyone ate theirs so quickly! I decided to place my order with Nisha through Instagram. The ordering process was super simple and Nisha was very responsive. She answered all of my questions and was able to design this beautiful box of hot cocoa bombs for me. Not only did the hot cocoa bombs look beautiful, they tasted delicious as well! My favorite was the milk chocolate one. This was probably the best hot cocoa I've ever had. It was so thick, rich, and creamy. It was perfect on a cold day. The other flavors were strawberry and a mix of strawberry and milk chocolate which were also both really good. About a month ago, I ordered custom macarons from Agatha for my baby shower. The ordering form on…read moreher website makes it seem like it will be a seamless process. However, it was really difficult to communicate with her as she doesn't always respond to emails in a timely matter. At times, I would have to double email her just to receive a response. During our ordering process via email, my dog had to have an emergency surgery and I missed the 48 hour period to pay and confirm my order. I explained the situation to her and she wasn't exactly the most understanding and told me she could only complete half of my order. Also, she holds a $25 fee, which can be refunded if you return the tower after usage but getting the fee back can take weeks. I returned my tower 2 weeks ago and emailed her upon doing so and am still waiting for my refund. The macaron tower I ordered was cute but given how stressful the ordering process was, I'm not sure I'd return or recommend her to friends.

I understand artistic liberties and support artists however I never mentioned a rubber duck party...the theme was One Lucky Duck. When I look at this cake, immediately I was disappointed at the look. I did not want a rubber duck rather would've preferred what was on the cupcake because at least it look organic to fit the nature. Also, the pink checkers was TOO dark. I didn't understand why the cutout 1 was checkered too? It was giving nascar vibes to me. I was so confused as to how I got this instead of coquette cute duck. It made me so sad because I wanted to photograph it next to my daughter be ended up using a cupcake because it just looked better. I don't know if this was just rushed but honestly, I would have preferred ordering some of the elements myself that are sugar molded to have placed instead of this. Again, the cake 10/10 but truly the decor it needs some work 3/10. Overall, everyone loved the cake and went back for more. It could be worse, as it looks better but tasted awful. Thank god that wasn't the case but god I wanted this to be so good! I felt in the moment like I failed as a mom because what I ordered did not come as expected. Plus the half an hour late delivery did not help make it better. Please please work on the decoration. I love your cakes. I want to order from you again but not like this. Maybe ask for more Inspo if one photo isn't enough or ask questions to help pin point the clients vision? For comparison, my cookies from another vendor were more on theme and everyone loved how those were decorated. That vendor asked me to describe the look and feel plus asked me to send MULTIPLE photos to help create an original look. And yes, this keeps me up at night at 3 am because it bothers me so much. I didn't say anything at the party because there's nothing to be done once it's there, but maybe working with the client more or drafting a mock before executing could help hit the mark closer to the target. I hope this genuinely helps in getting someone the perfect cake for the future. Unfortunately it wasn't mine.
