Just got back from Dickey's Barbecue Pit at Murrayhill. I used to go here all the time, and the food is usually pretty good. However, the prices have gone up substantially, and I had some concerns about sanitary practices on a previous visit, so it's been a couple of years since I've been there. But I had a coupon, so I thought I would try them again. On today's visit, I ordered 1/2 pound of Chicken ($12.49), 1/2 pound of Pulled Pork ($10.49), 1/2 pound of Jalapeño Kielbasa ($11.49), and a "large" (less than a pint) Mac and Cheese ($7.99). When I got home, the portions seemed pretty small, and I wondered if I had gotten a half pound of each of the meats. Fortunately, I do a lot of mailing and have a postal scale. So, I weighed each of the meats, and they were all well short of a 1/2 lb. I assume most people know that a 1/2 pound is 8 ounces, but at least 2 of the 3 young Dickey's employees were not aware of that fact, so I thought it might need mentioning here. (More on that later). The chicken was 5.7 ounces, the sausage was 6.4 ounces, and the pork was 5.9 ounces. So I called the store. I explained the situation. I mentioned, "You do know a 1/2 pound is 8 ounces, right?" Dustin, the guy who answered the phone, said, "No, it's not. It's 6 ounces." I said, "No - a pound is 16 ounces, a 1/2 pound is 8 ounces." Now, keep in mind that Dustin wasn't the one who sliced the meat. It was a young lady with semi-bleached hair (I didn't get her name.) So I'm assuming that she also thinks a 1/2 pound is six ounces. I'm hoping this was an honest mistake, but I'm not sure it was. It seems odd that at least two of the three employees think a 1/2 pound is 6 ounces. I also tried to reach out to the owners to talk to them before leaving a negative review, but it appears that they now live out of state. The local business has let its business license lapse, and several other Dickey's franchisees have filed for bankruptcy, citing challenges with the franchise model. Combined with my sanitary concerns that I won't get into here (it was about three years ago), I don't think I'll be coming back.

This is a hard review. The food is blah however the service is good. The staff is attentive, very helpful and was there to answer questions if asked. When we walked in we were politely greeted and had a good conversation with the guy making the sandwiches. Unfortunately, that's where the good stops. The bread on the sandwich is thick and dry. The beat had no flavor at all. I never encountered barbecue that could not have the smoke flavor. The green beans had some spices and were cooked nicely. The red beans were cooked soft however the flavor was in the juices, which means the beans were not slow cooked. Sorry, I will not be back.

Did a takeout so can't really speak to the dining experience. Southern bbq food was bomb! Brisket, sausage, chicken, sides all full of flavor. Quick service from time we ordered to time we picked up.

I got the 3 meat combo. Chicken breast was good. Sliced AND chopped brisket both well over half globs of fats. Not much meat for the $$$.

If it's your first time, I would suggest the Brisket sampler plate to taste all the yummy goodness in a single swoop. Four meats, fries and 2 sides...they don't mess around. For me, the Brisket and especially the Pulled Pork were stars, but the Chicken was no slouch either. I went with the Mac & Cheese + Cole Slaw options, and didn't leave a morsel behind, they were so good. Maybe I was hungry that day, or maybe the deliciousness of the meal just made me hungry, but damn, this place is good. Alternative sides that I didn't get to try include: rice, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, cornbread, and maybe beans. I may be tempted to switch it up next time. Really happy with this find. In my opinion Raining BBQ is the Reigning BBQ!

I hav the combination plate with ribs brisket chicken and shredded beef all wich were delicious and all the sides as well . The beans were a lil lacking if it was up to me I'd add bits of brisket to them with some onions and they would be epic. The Mac and cheese definitely made a complete change from dry boxed to creamy cheesy pull goodness . I'm definitely going to be making a return trip. I hope this helps and thanks for your time.

After reading the great reviews, I'd wanted to get over there, and I'm glad I finally did. The ribs were perfect, the pulled pork was as good as I've ever had. When the brisket is solid but the least exciting bite, you've got a great platter. The mac and cheese side is excellent. I loved the slaw, though I'd skip it next time due to more onion than I'm cool with. Sauces are okay, but would love a spicy option. Honestly, none of the meat begged for extra sauce, I just love sauce. Seating was limited and the place is pretty small, so probably hit and miss during peak hours. Loved the food. Will return.

There aren't a ton of tables, but my dining partner and I were easily able to find somewhere to sit once we were done ordering. The food came out after a short wait. I loved the beans, potato salad (could have used a bit more flavor though), chicken wins (my favorite) the brisket, and the prime rib, which was extremely tender. Botto's has a really laid back vibe, great for a lunch or dinner out with friends and/or family. I would definitely visit again! Only downside was the cost. I can't say whether it was worth it or not.

The server wasn't able to answer questions about ingredients, shellfish in particular and had to be reminded. We had the garlic pork belly which was quite salty and not the best. It was a giant slab which made it take a long time to cook. The marinade could use a revisit and adjusted to taste better. Next we had the beef bulgogi. Again the marinade was a let down and it needs more of everything and less sugar. The meat was diced up and not what you'd expect for beef bulgogi. The third meat was honey soy pork belly. This was the best of the meats we had. For sides we had rice which was not served hot and was already just warm when it was delivered and was on the drier side. Japchae, which was just really sad and didn't taste like japchae should. Just a sad cold pile of sweet noodles with some fried onions and bell peppers. This dish needs some serious improvement. Crispy mandoo, can't complain, they were maybe one if the better parts of the meal, again the sauce was on the sweeter side and could have used more shoyu. Sundubu had a good soup base but was bell pepper city and only had 2 pieces of tofu. Radish paper was a delicious addition and really leveled up everything. I don't feel a need to revisit this place again, but I'm glad I tried it.

For $25 I was hoping to get something flavorful but it fell short. Avoid this one and save your money trying something else. We also got the ttobokei. Nothing special. Tasted like Chef Boyardee and the sauce was a little spicy. Wasn't too thrilled about this one as well. I think their appetizers are good and I think I'll just stick to these even though the corn dog is 75% cheese, 25% dog. I was also disappointed that japchae is not ontheir menu.
