For fast BBQ, this place did okay. Im kind of surprised it's lasted this long as not many places in the building have...especially for a place that isn't really known around these parts. I do enjoy that you get a decent amount of food...choice of a meat or two and two sides ....but no drink with the price you're paying seems strange. Anyway, they have daily specials and we ordered one and it was pork and sausage sandwich I believe and it was just so-so. I ordered the the pulled pork meal which the pork was pretty good by its self (nothing mind blowing). Worst barbecue baked potato I have ever eaten. The reason for the two stars is the place is clean and service people friendly. The potato was hard, undercooked and had little butter or little sour cream on it despite my request . Instead of chopped beef on the baked potato , I received hard chunks of dry,overcooked and unappetizing meat. I threw the potato out. I had taken it home and it was simply uneatable. My hubs and I LOVE barbeque. When we drove by and saw Dickey's we decided to give it a try for lunch. There was a steady stream of people coming in, and even though the place is pretty small, with few tables, there seemed to be a lot of take out so there wasn't ever any real back up. We were greeted by a friendly guy and offered samples of the meat we asked questions about. We ended up splitting a 3 meat plate with sides. The meat we got was ribs [2], brisket, and pulled pork. The ribs were really dry and tough, I love love love ribs but I wouldn't order them again here. The brisket we sampled was moist and delicious and what we got was fantastic but it was the end piece so it was a bit more fatty than I like. Third we got the pulled pork, really moist, great flavor, not too salty which was my concern. Again, a bit fatty; I feel like we missed out on some meat due to the fatty stuff. The sides we got were the onion frazzle fry things. They were ok. We also got mac-n-cheese which I wouldn't order again. So we will probably go back and give it another shot, but try some different sides and no ribs. read more

I've had few chances to stop in this joint and overall the quality of the BBQ has been excellent. The meats I've tried: brisket, pork, and ham were all moist and tender. The sides are also quite good, and portions seem generous. The daily specials seem like a great value, and I've taken advantage of these for lunch. As a side note: the place does have a few kinks to work out. The space is very small, and not really conducive to dining; more a takeout joint. This is a solid franchise concept that has been around since 1941 - how many franchises can say that? I had the Westerner sandwich with brisket and spicy (and I MEAN spicy) cheddar sausage, my wife had a combo plate - both were good, but I thought the portion on the combo plate to be a bit on the light side. The sauces are good, as are their drink offerings (though I resent being charged $2.50 for a Coke), including the sweet tea. Service wasn't slow for us, as we were second couple in the door; five minutes later, the line was OUT the door, and things slowed down considerably. With four people behind a relatively small counter, I'm not sure how they'll improve that. They have an excellent rewards program (free) that includes a key fob chip that they scan from your first meal, and those points actually have value. We received an e-mail before we got home that we had 'earned' a free meal - who says there's no such thing as a free lunch. It was okay. I got the pulled pork sandwich with beans. The meat is pretty good quality, the beans were fine. They don't have many sauces to choose from, but the ones they have are all right; nothing special. I think for the amount you pay, it's not really worth it. I much prefer Buster's pulled pork sandwiches, they are bigger sandwiches, better meat, more sauce variety, and slightly cheaper. So you close at 9 uh. I put my order in at 8:07. Waited an hour for you to tell me that your canceling my order. No phone call, no text. Just an email from door dash saying our meal was canceled. I suppose it's just as well. Ill take my 100 dollars and spend it elsware from now on. I was settling anyway. Even in the northwest a person can find better BBQ. Don't ask for a second chance, because of your very poor customer service I'm spending my money at McDonald's instead. I have never been to a restaurant that would cancel an order because of closing. I went here two Saturdays in a row, once early evening and the other late evening. I must say that my experience varied greatly based on the time of day. The first Saturday I was there at around 6pm, they had a full selection of meats and sides. The second Saturday i was there later at 8pm. At that time they were out of some meats and sides. Their daily special on a Saturday is a brisket sandwich which they could not make because they were out of brisket. Also at 8pm, they we're already dragging mats/carpets around and cleaning, which did not add to the ambiance. The food that they had both times was good. So my recommendation is even though the official closing time is 9pm, I wouldn't go there if it was after 7:30pm. read more

We did our order online in the early afternoon for a 4:45 pickup. Food was on time and brought to our car for curbside pick up. First off, food was on time and warm. Brought home and nuked for 30 sec. just to up the warmth. I had the Brisket and Ribs, Sides of Cole Slaw and Baked Beans. Husband had Chicken, Ribs and Brisket. Sides of Mac & Cheese and Baked Beans. If you are from somewhere other than Portland that has real BBQ (Kansas City, Memphis, Texas etc), you probably aren't finding what you want in PDX. Dickies is a bbq chain restaurant based out of Texas but they do it right. It won't match up to your favorite spot in your home town like mine in KC but it's solid. It's really good. It's smokey and the meat is done well. The sauce is on point. The sides are good. I rarely ate at Dickies in KC even though we had a couple because there are 10+ places better within 20 minutes. This is by far the worst meal experience we've had in years. We were first timers to this place and will never return. The rack of ribs we were served must have been cooked and reheated every day for a week before they finally made their way over the counter. Dry, scabby things that actually crunched when we bit into them. Horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE!! We ordered the baked potato casserole as one of our sides and apparently they were running a little low but no problem, they just whipped out a large plastic bag of the crud, sliced it open and presto more potato casserole! Just ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich, beans and slaw via Doordash. My first order was the same.... meat completely dried out. Could hardly swallow it without drenching it in sauce. The beans taste like an ordinary can of beans and the slaw bitter. Total waste of money. read more

The food is OK and if you are having a BBQ craving this will satisfy it. The service however leaves much to be desired. I ordered online about 5 to pick up at 6pm. I get there at 6:05 and they tell me my order isn't ready yet, ok no biggie I run across the street For a 5 min errand and come back. Still not ready oh and she *just* ran out of chicken. I get that Pit BBQ is a first come first serve type of thing but if you accept online orders you should make sure you have that meat available. Also the meal we got was supposed to serve 4-6 and maybe makes that with the meat however the shareable sides might be enough for 3 and one of ours was only 3/4 of he way through. Standard chain BBQ that was not remarkable in any way. If fact, the ribs had no texture at all. They were just cooked until fall off the bone consistency. I prefer s little 'chew' to ribs. These were just mush. I've been to these in Texas as well and they really aren't much better. I won't go back, can make much better BBQ at home. read more

Do you smell that tempting smoky aroma wafting across Murray Scholls? People working out at 24 Hour Fitness will be drooling. This new joint has wonderful food and just celebrated their grand opening (Sept 2014). You gotta try the pulled pork! The fried onion tangles and fried okra are fresh and tasty, not mushy. The sweet tea is the real deal. Finally!! A BBQ joint that fills the niche for quality BBQ in Beaverton. We haven't found such good BBQ since moving here from NC two years ago despite our efforts. Dickie's is BBQ fast food. If your looking for that taste you get from hours of slaving over a smokey pit with amazing sides that feel like they were made the way mom made them, cook at home. This will fill that void only fast food can fill. Quick and tastes pretty good. Every time we have ordered the chicken nuggets they have been over cooked. That means my kids won't eat them. I enjoy the brisket. You don't get much bark with the meat. Arguably the best part. The Mac n cheese was highly processed. Cesar salad was good. Overall, it's good if you have to have BBQ. read more

Not a good day at Dickies.....third, and probably last time I'll visit this bbq place. I asked for sliced brisket, and got chopped. Looks chopped to me. Manager says, "Hey, I didn't chop it. I promise." WHAT? How about saying 'oh, let me get another serving to you right away.' Sauces weren't hot as the machine wasn't plugged in. Duh. A big draw for me was the fact that you could get HOT sauces, as in temperature. Not today. Also, no frozen ice cream because the setting wasn't on "frozen". I'm going to echo what another yelper said, I only go here because most times I don't feel like driving hella far to get some bbq. Ain't nobody got time for that! I've been here when it's packed & when it's slow. The food is on the pricey side, so we usually get the meal deal of the day, just so we can afford it & get a drink with it. Really wanted to like this place. I have had it in Dallas and it was pretty good. Flavor wise it was OK but I have never ever had ribs so dried out it was basically rib jerky. I am not kidding. Rib jerky. I have attached some photos. So I basically paid for super dried out rib jerky for a high price. The ribs are $12.95 for a half pound. There were 3 people eating dinner and we bought a pound of ribs which is $25. And we all had barely any meat. All bone. And rib jerky strips. Never going back. The sides. Potato salad could have been Resers. Nothing special. BBQ is not cheap and I don't mind paying for quality but I just paid for bad BBQ and nothing else. read more

Other reviewers have noticed what I have. I guess if you dont know BBQ then you wouldn't be the wiser. I will start with the food is good from what I have had. I get sandwiches all the time. This weekend things were not good. I went in fri, sat and tonight. All these nights they were out of a lot of beef. Every night although the sign says they are open they seem to close things down earlier and ealier. Tonight the bun toaster was shut down. After letting them know that to me the toasted bun was a big part of it to me they started it back up. The manager was nice and tried to make things right. He said the owner wants them to shut things down early and be gone by 9:30 PM. For a BBQ place that closes at 9 PM that doesn't sound like a lot of time to clean. Maybe thats why an earlier review says there are flies. All I know is things need to be top notch for this area. They need to work harder at this or they wont be around long. They have good food so I hope they take things seriously. I will update my review as standards improve. Update: They still have an issue running out of products by 8PM but they have tried to do right by me. I have changed my star rating because of this. read more

I tried this place for the first time yesterday. The place was busy which I thought was a good sign for some good food. Unfortunately, I will not be a return customer. The place is just too disorganized. Like other reviews, they can't seem to get an order correct. I had 2 missing sides and one completely wrong side. The kids meals are a joke. Burned chicken nuggets and a few bites of brisket. The brisket sandwich was good. The BBQ sauces are good. The jalapeño beans are terrible. The pulled pork is greasy and soggy.
