Stopped in for lunch today, food was great, pulled pork was awesome! The staff was very friendly!

I popped into this place for a lunch thinking the chain elements would carry the quality. I got sliced beef, potato salad, and beans, and only finished the beef but under duress. The beef was very fatty and unflavorful. The potato salad was plentiful but didn't taste good. The beans were okay. The inside is so small, there is no table not close to other tables or the kitchen. There was even some creditor that popped in to ask for the manager, which the staff said had recently sold the place, not sure this is going to work out. Dickey's is not outstanding BBQ but it is fine for the drive thru quick version, which is sometimes needed. Love that you can drive thru! Makes a busy life more enjoyable. That said, sadly the meats are sub-par, which is the focus of a BBQ joint, right? Well, sort of. Sides are big too and there, Dickey's does well. The ham is dry as a bone, yikes! The sausage is okay, the brisket is also just okay. I have yet to try a meat I love and so will probably stick to just sides from here on out. The sides are standard and dependable. Decent Mac, potatoes, good green beans. But the one thing Dickey's is awesome at? FRIED OKRA! Yes. They perfectly season it and it comes out piping hot. So good. A must order! The sweet tea is also delicious! Prices are kinda high which is normal for a BBQ joint around here. A meat plate with 3 sides and nothing else was $12.50. Since the meat stinks, save your money for sides and tea. read more

Food here is delicious and always super quick! Love this BBQ place. But I HATE the customer service at drive through. TARA needs to get fired. At first I thought maybe she's just having a bad day, but no. Every single time she picks up the phone, she has THE WORST attitude and customer service. Same thing when we pull up at the window. She seems like she hates her job. Yal should hire someone who is friendly and smiles or at least someone with a decent attitude. OR maybe yal should switch the people cooking with her. The customer service would be much better.... BUT then the food would probably suck! Either way, Tara needs to take some customer service classes or something. read more

This place is nasty! I ordered through door dash. First time and will definitely be my last! Had the 3 meat. Amd my pulled pork was smelly! Like literally smelled like old garbage! Well if ur sensitive to taste, don't order potato salad. I can taste the plastic container it came in. Also check the inside of the black plastic cups. Since they stack them, they scrape the paint from the outside of the other cup and you are left with a paint smear on the inside. I rinsed it off. And go for sliced beef, not chopped. First off I was slightly unfamiliar with this BBQ chain, but I love me some BBQ so I thought I would give this place a try. The locale of this joint is sort of odd. It's in a sliver of parcel that is shared with a jewelery store. It's where the old James Coney Island was in front of the bowling alleys. anyways, there is almost no parking to be had and the drive thru looks to be an afterthought. I had tried it out on Nov. 15th for lunch since I saw a newspaper article about it opening and I was in the area. the prices are on par for a BBQ chain, but hold that thought.. I had ordered a BBQ baked potato for 6 bucks. If you want a plain baked potato that was 4 bucks. I should of been charged the 4 dollar price, because there was absolutely NO meat on the potato save for a few pieces that looked like bacon bits. When you order a chopped BBQ potato, you expect to to be overflowing with goodness. Coupled with the almost no meat, there was no accouterments i.e. butter, sour cream, BBQ sauce. Easily the worst baked potato I have ever had.. Fast Forward to their grand opening on that following Friday. I figured they would have 1 more shot to impress me. I had ordered a pulled pork sandwich with their waffle iron fries after waiting in line for over 15 minutes. I understand that it was going to get busy, but the management could have done a better job moving people through the line. Anyways, after receiving my order, I was given a chopped beef sandwich and okra! At this point, I didn't even bother to go ask to fix my order, I just ate it.. Blah! If your idea of BBQ is that stuff they sell in tubs at Sam's Club slapped between a bun, then this place it for you! There are other places (Dave's Smokehouse for starters)in the area that sells BBQ that the food quality is much greater and offer more bang for your buck. I didn't realize I've been here fifteen times, until I counted up the cute drink cups I've saved for a picnic or beach party sometime. I can't think of another corporate or franchise fast food type barbecue, so I'm glad Dickey's set a high standard in this field. I like the sausage, and it's my usual eat at Dickey's. It's not a true "hot link" like you can get only in California barbecue places, but at least it's not that larger coarse grind rope sausage either. The beef is tasty too, and they've got a respectable sauce. The little onion strings are great, and so is the authentic Texas potato salad, yellow and not white, and cooked southern style like it should be. We always come for the beef sausages, jalapeño cheddar and some type of beef, both are delicious! The bbq sauce is just as tasty. They also give free ice cream cones. Place is quite, clean and friendly. Good for the family or gatherings. read more

Ordered the big bbq chopped brisket sandwich. I paid $7+ for the sandwich. Food taste really good but it's way over priced. I was really hungry when I ordered and after eating the sandwich I'm still hungry. If they gonna charge the prices they do, they should give little bit more food. I first encountered this place in Mout Belvieu/Baytown area, stopped for lunch. The food was great, flavorful and tender and the BBQ sauce is at your own serving. The sweet tea was perfect. 2-People, 2meat meal w/2sides and Large sweet teas, with plenty of meat for a total of 28.00 (and some change) after tax Now take consideration, this is Mt. Belvieu area. So after noticing one closer to my area I was like, awesome. So after I went in the Dickies on fm528 before fm518, Friendswood area, I ordered 1-2meat 2sides 1-large drink, first issue was $19.00, I was like Ok a few more dollars, oh well, then the meat was very minimal, sides were the same, but buttered roll was stale. They did give me another, but after I was done I really felt like that was a 10.00 plate with the amount served. I think I'll stick with Chuys down the road instead, unless Im back in Mt Belvieu again and craving some BBQ. read more

WE ordered a family pack from Dickey's, since they were an option on DoorDash.com for delivery. It was our first (and last) time to try them. While the ribs were tender, the had absolutely NO smoke flavor at all. They tasted like they were simply baked in the oven. The side dish of creamed spinach was very good, as was their barbecue sauce. But the main reason you pay top-dollar for barbecue, is to get that wonderful outdoor, woody\smoky flavor. The ribs and brisket had none of that smoky flavor. There are much better barbecue options around us, so we will not be ordering from Dickey's again. read more

I have eaten there many times for several years. Their ribs are among the best. I overlooked the occasional fatty (inedible) brisket because I simply loved those mouth/watering ribs. I will never (strong word I am reluctant to ever use) NEVER eat there again. On a very important day where I was bringing dinner to my family (parents, grandparents, siblings, etc) the called in order was botched 3 different ways and the meat was so fatty that 3 dogs wouldn't eat it. Stopped in after a trip to the library. I was the only patron inside the tiny restaurant. I ordered a baked potato with chopped beef. While I waited for my food, I tried the free ice cream. That was a mistake. It was awful and tasted like blended spoiled milk. Thankfully the potato made up for it. It was very good and the entire potato was tender. The whole thing slid easily out of the foil and I was able to mix even the skin up. Whenever I get potatoes I basically have to scrap out the insides and when I'm finished I'm left with the shell of the skin. That wasn't the case with this Dickey's potato and I was pleasantly surprised. The chopped beef topping was cooked well and chopped fine enough that I wasn't left with huge chunks that I didn't know what to do with. They gave me one container of barbecue sauce but I could have used a second to really give the otherwise bland potato more flavor. Except for the ice cream, the food was good. read more

The food is good. The service here is great. The drink policy is shite! I brought back my "Big Yellow Cup" from a previous meal thinking the drink would be discounted this time. Nope! $2.25 for a drink. That's a lot for unsweetened tea considering I made the effort to keep, wash & return with the cup. Saving the company overhead & serving to promote their business to make this my carry-everywhere cup. For charging me $2.25 Dick owes me another cup! Not that I'd bring it back for refills again. 1st time here and might be last time! Ordered 2 chopped beef potatoes for about $18 and all I have to say is where's the beef? As a matter of fact not much of anything in them except potato. I can understand potatoes only cost maybe .40 a piece so no wonder why that's all I tasted. I believe the only reason why this place might still be open because of no other Bbq spot near for miles. I understand beef does cost money but throw some extra sour cream, butter, chives and bacon at least. Try and make the customer feel like they are eating something besides a dry a-- potato. The 2 starts are for the friendly service I did get through the drive thru. If I don't have time to drive the extra miles to eat somewhere else I might be back. Where do I start? Ordered food via door dash, two sandwiches and sides, an hour later the food arrived...no sides, we called the restaurant and they were VERY reluctant to do anything about it but eventually agreed to re-do the order...fast forward an hour and a half later and nothing, call the restaurant again and they say we were supposed to go 7 miles each way to pick up the food...at no time during the first call was this even mentioned, why would we agree to that when we had ordered food for delivery? The manager did not care at all that we now had no dinner for the evening...he should not be allowed to run a service establishment...no Customer Service abilities at all... and yes I have been in the Customer Service Business for 30 years so I know what should be done and what shouldn't....Negative 10 if I could!!!! I have had much better experiences at Dickies elsewhere so I guess its just this franchise that sucks! Fingers crossed I get my money back ($35) which is WAY overpriced for two sandwiches but after leaving this review the Manager probably wont out of spite....we shall see.. read more

I like this place it's better then most BBQ prices decent, not off the charts but solid, service was good, friendly. Sides are spectacular esp the green beans and awesome smoked sausage. Ribs and brisket good, moist and not over smoked, but typical to texas BBQ the sauce makes up for flavor or lack thereof but stand alone, but that's the east coast in me. The BBQ sandwiches and fries are very good but quite pricey! If we get two sandwiches, two drinks and one fry it's about $25.00. Typically the sandwiches are pretty cold so we end up microwaving them when we get home. When we first visited inside the restaurant the staff didn't acknowledge us at all or give instruction on where the menu on the wall is or where to order, we just figured it out awkwardly and read a paper menu - when in the drive-thru there's not must personality there either. We have been there about 4x's now, we keep giving extra chances because their food does taste good. read more

So the food was okay for the price, being that good bbq is usually expensive. Meat was okay(a little fatty), bbq sauce was too sweet, sides kind of sucked. It tasted alright, then I found a hair in my sandwich, not sure if it was from the cranium or the pelvic region. It had a slight curl to it, black, and was short, and I found another hair later on(this one was longer, probably from the manager because it was blonde), in the basket. I didn't know the ice cream was free, I would of got some, damn. It's hard not to be bias when you find a piece of hair in your food, and you know which people it came from. I ordered Dickey's thru Grubhub. This is the comment I sent to Grubhub when I answered their survey... "The pork rib plate had no bbq sauce. "Fall off the bone ribs" is an understatment. The ribs had been cooked/kept warm for so long that some of the meat was mushy, you really didn't have to chew it. No hint of bbq sauce. Potato casserole was good. I also ordered two CHOPPED beef brisket sandwiches. We rec'd sliced brisket which we had to chop up for the sandwiches (the brisket was really tough). If this brisket had bbq sauce, it couldn't be tasted. We asked for xxtra bbq sauce. We rec'd one little container of bbq sauce to be shared with our entire bbq order. The green beans were HORRIBLE. Could not taste the green beans. The over load of table pepper and a mystery seasoning trying to be spicy/hot stuff overpowered the green beans. I had the other people in my home that night (they ate hamburgers) taste the green beans. I cannot convey their descriptions, for decency purposes. And to make this order any more painful we rec'd an extra order of green beans! Maybe that was supposed to be xxtra bbq sauce that we didn't get. I also ordered a brisket and cheese taco. The picture made my mouth water. What I got was a little soft taco with two table spoons of something that looked like cat food with a pinch of yellow stuff called cheese. Not sure what meat that was. It had no taste. I fed it to the dog. Finally the pecan pie. No self respecting bbq resturant would ever serve these small triangles of sugar! No taste of pecan. You should be ashamed of yourselfs. They didn't even look like pie. No crust! Nothing like your picture. This pie belongs on a cheap airline flight or in a childrens meal at a fast food place. Finally, the "we were really busy" excuse cannot be used. I ordered early (placed online at 4:58pm) to avoid the evening meal rush. The "my cook was having a bad day" excuse cannot be used because this meal had to be put together by several people at your resturant. I hate to give such a scathing review. We are always looking for good bbq and when we saw the line outside of Dickey's on their grand opening day we thought there must be something to this place. Well, you definitely do not want to follow the herd on this one! I have never written a review before, but felt I had to this time. We ordered the sandwiches sliced beef, pulled pork, chopped beef. Sides of mac&cheese and potato salad. All the sandwhiches looked like someone took an ice cream scoop and plopped it on the bread. You couldn't tell the difference between any of the meats by looks or taste. You had to look real close to make sure that u just didn't get a wrong order. How can u have pulled pork look and taste like chopped beef? Dickey's was able to do this. The mac&cheese and potato salad were mush. The mac&cheese was tasteless as well. It is pretty hard to ruin mac&cheese. All this at the same charge you would have going to any other bbq place. Tony's Barbecue & Steak House is around the corner on Saturn and for practically the same price you can get some real bbq with healthy portions.
