Okay, to start, I know I may be being overly critical, but here is my opinion. Service? Needs work, seriously. I came here for my first time, Wednesday night around 11, and the place was booming with business, with the occasional single homless mom needing some extra cash. I digress. When I was summoned to the window--or lack of summoning, thereof--, the curly headed dude who took my order was completely and utterly a failure in the 30-second interaction we had with each other. He did nothing to show he was going to ring me up. No hand wave, a "next in line please", nothing. He just creepily stared at me and didn't say anything, like he expected me to have my order already meticulously planned out (which I may have been, thanks to Yelp reviewers, but that's besides the point). Anyways, he proceeded to ring me up when I ordered a Dick's double, but his pompous attitude and lack of service really irked me. I then put on an order of fries, but he didn't confirm that either or even look at me. I would understand if it was a huuuuge line or something, but it wasn't, just a normal amount of people cycling through. Then to finish, he didn't ask if I needed condiments or anything, just took the cash, which was $4.98. Then he just stared at me again. WTF dude, at least say something like, "Did you need those 2 pennies?", even though I'm obviously going to say no. You sir, get lower than a 1* and hope you dodge the fists coming your way. I left the counter feeling strangly spiteful and aggressive, so the food had better be what it is hyped up to be, which leads to the positives. Wow! This is a drunk person's dream in both pricing and taste. They won't feel too bad the next morning financially, when only 10 bucks has been drained from their account. Burger. Incredible...2 patties with a to-die-for flavor. You can tell this place is trying to steal In-N-Out's customer base. Fries. Super tasty, browned on the outside with a slight, crunchy texture, but also that satisfying and soft, yet cooked center. Very easy to scarf down in a matter of 10 seconds...okay more like a minute & a half. But that was bomb! You can tell this place makes bank off late-night drunchies and everywhere in-between. It also didn't make me smell like a dumpster, post In-N-Out binging. Perfect place to get your DD to take you for after-hours. I would definately recommend, minus the mediocre service. read more

I love me some dick's burger, anywhere but this location. I went in this weekend to grab some "famous dick's burgers" for my mom who is visiting and myself. Upon waiting in line I was asked for money by several people, which normally isn't something that bothers me, but in this case I was pushed about it, "come on, I see the money in your hand just help me out." I'm happy to contribute to folks who may need a buck, but to be pressured and pushed is uncomfortable. When I got to the order counter, I asked that they hold the pickles, which they don't do in order to "ensure the fastest service" I told the kid (Cameron) at the counter that I thought that was silly and he said "it's just how we do things." No big deal, I was just unaware of that. He then rang everything up and rather than taking my money began working on my order. I asked what I owe him and tried to give him my money, then he asked that I hold on to my money, but it flew out of my hand, so I said "I can't because it just flew out of my hand." He then said, "hence why I told you to hold on to it." Shocked by his response i told him that he was a little rude and he just shrugged and said, "I'm just doing my job"!!! I'm pretty sure your job isn't to be unspeakably rude to me (see there, I know how to use sarcasm too, I just choose not to when speaking to my customers.). I then called and spoke with the manager (Rodney?) who listened to what I had to say, then said, "ok I'll have a talk with him." I suppose I just would have offered something to an upset guest, or apologized or something, anything, but simply saying " ok I'll give him a talk." Just seems careless. After all of that, the burgers were overrated, cold, over cooked, smushed down and the fries were, just gross. I will never be back to this location. read more

The problem with Dick's drive in burgers is that it's 1940s McDonald's retread. The burgers, the fries the shakes the entire set up is all McDonald's brother San Bernardino operation retread. So the main problem with Dick's drive in is that if the parking lot is full at Dick's, you're not eating at Dick's. In-N-Out burgers, which they ran off, to preserve this "hometown favorite", has food that's light years better than Dick's. It wasn't cooked 20 minutes ago pre-wrapped and sitting in a warmer for God knows how long. It's cooked to order while you wait. Which is I'm light years ahead of this operation. Pickle relish, in mayo, that's a Seattle hometown original? No offense that disgusting. Trust me, your gut to tell you if you eat more than one, because of how long it's sat. If the parking lot and the restaurant area are full at In-N-Out burgers, you just take it home. Once again, if the parking lot is full at Dick's you don't eat at Dick's. I don't even understand why this place is still in business. I personally think the entire experience is marginal at best. I can't wait for Washington burgers to catch up with the rest of the Western hemisphere. This marginal garbage retread operation is just profoundly disappointing at best. read more

You get what you get at Dick's, true. I buy a poison pill or two there from time to time (most often not at the Cap. Hill store) and I always kind of enjoy my food. Great fries and shakes- you know the drill. But the Capitol Hill Dick's has become a Mecca of sorts for homeless drunks and druggies who malinger around the parking lot and aggressively try to shake you down for your food as you walk from the counter. Really obnoxious types, soaked in piss and rheumy with inebriation getting in your face and insulting you if you don't give them "juss a borger or two". It's Dick's' responsibility to keep a lid on what happens on store property, but there is no system in place to run these hoboes off the parking lot. On the weekends a policeman stands nearby- is this part of the reason why? To me, this is just another place in Seattle that the homeless drunks have taken over. I'll limit myself to the other Dick's stores in the area. read more

Stepping over drunks and passed out junkies, trying to ignore being asked for spare change 20 times by the homeless mental cases as you stand in front of Dicks is bad enough... but the burgers here totally suck. They're like hockey pucks on a bun. The fries are totally disgusting and the people who work there are like stepford robots. I didn't even have the change in my hand and the girl is yelling thru me... can I help the next person? I might have wanted something more, Sally Stepford. 2 bites of the nasty fries were enough to make me hurl on Broadway. My dog would not even eat the burgers. I've eaten here and at many an In N' Out Burger in California. Having them both in the same sentence is a sin against God Almighty and I'm a freakin' atheist. It's always a drunk Seattle-native friend who drags me to this place after a night out. I can't wait for the day In N' Out finally extends north and drives this shit show out of business. Burgers are dry and flavorless, staff is rude, and with the money this place has made over the years you'd think they could build a dining room. Seattle, you can do WAY better. They only people who think Dicks tastes good are hung over AND don't know any better. I'm from seattle, but I live in reality, dicks is nasty as fuck, it's just a half assed mcdonalds with a hella crappy menu. The burgers look like discount elementary school burger patties. the fries are mushy and taste like wood, the milkshakes are like flavored paste. I enjoy the food here and also the line experience. Last time I waited in this line a nice gentleman tried to sell me his mix tape. Unfortunately I only listen to jock Jams on repeat. Another guy was wearing brown pants, ones which made my eyes bled. I literally cannot with ppl. I spent ten dollars and received a feast. Every time it feels like 1982 again. As I made my out of the parking lot, burger tightly clenched in each fist, ketchup oozing down my fingers, a sour stech wafting - a biker licked his ice cream cone. Dicks success is proof that the average Seattleite doesn't know a thing about how good greasy food is done. It's not your fault. It's like expecting to find good Mexican food in Sweden.. or Seattle for that matter. Too many health conscious, vegan green-peacers. This place is terrifying on a weekend. I walk by and the smell of the fries is like crack cocaine and I crave it more than anything. But I have been fries sober for a long time and I can't reset my sobriety clock for fries. You have to understand though that this place more than any place would be the one to make me cave. Their burgers are pretty good. They're definitely better than inn n out. I've never liked inn and out so when someone told me about dicks I was skeptical The good news is that they have parking. Their burgers are also pretty good. The bad news is their employees are very rude. The service is absolutely horrible. Overall the place is ok for a quick bite. It does get busy in the latter part of the evening. There's place to park which is good. The burger quality is just average and/or on par with other burger joints with similar prices. Plus that it's open late. Meal for 2 with 1 deluxe burger, 1 cheeseburger, 1 shake and one fries ended up being $16.50. It's the best burger joint in Seattle. You get true 1950s style burgers, fries, and milkshakes. NO you don't get to "hold the mayo" or "hold the pickles".
