I went to grab food here at 5pm and in my honest opinion this Filipino food truck is very disappointing, I would like to start off by saying there customer service is terrible the Filipino fob kid with half of his hair dyed yellow, doesn't like his job and rather be somewhere else, I asked if I could order and the audacity for him to sigh at me was unreal, so I ignored it, and I asked him if there is anything other than the pork belly, he looks back at the cook and mentions that there's only pork belly, pork guisantes, pork adobo and diniguan, it made me question how the heck you have a big menu outside and only have 4 things available, so I decided to just get a plate lunch with the pork belly and fried rice, but after that it made me question my self, on how it turned out to be almost $14 while there menu said $10.25, so at that point I didn't mind already I was just hungry, so while waiting for my food I could hear something frying and notice the worker put a piece of cold pork belly in a pan full of oil, as I seen him pull it out it was the pork belly that I ordered, and it made me realize that this place is whack, they don't care what the heck they feed you as long they'll get the money, but it still goes longer after I got home and opened it, I looked at the "adobo fried rice" the fricking thing didn't even have meat they'll charge you more just by adding soy sauce to the rice and frying it with oil. I wasn't satisfied in eating this I ended up only eating 4 pieces and my own bowl of white rice, because of the super salty ness in the pork belly, So if anybody ever eats at this place, eat it at your own risk on wasting your money and the amount of salt and soy sauce they'll feed you. Fire roasted crispy skin pork belly! You can't go wrong if it's all you expect. Note: This is a food truck. Here's the thing, the menu reads Filipino but the flavor is a cross between Spanish suckling pig and Puerto Rican Lechon Asado. There is a hint of sweetness and herbaceous finish usually from oregano and garlic. Granted, I don't have much street cred on Filipino cuisine. There must be regional versions of this dish but everything I've tried that Filipino friends claim is authentic had the prominent flavor of lemon grass, bay leaves, aggressive salt, MSG, and black pepper. This does not. Crispy skin, check. Moist with well rendered fat, check. Sight smoky sweetness from being grilled over a hardwood fire, check. A tasty piece of pork. Sold whole, by the pound ($12/lb) or as part of a plate lunch. Other items offered. Never tried them. Did you forget, we're talking about roast pork? Timing is important. Catch it as it rested off the fire, else expect a wait till the next one comes off. Patience is a virtue. Currently at Waikele next to Petco (look for the Leonard's Jr truck). Me: Over there, the food truck by Leonard's Malasadas *points at Dick's Lechon truck* Mom: Let's go check it out. Me: Okay...I just want to try it, I'm still full... We ordered the following: lechon belly (ala carte) at $12.00 per pound and two (2) pieces each of vegetable and pork lumpia at $5.00 for four (4) lumpia. Mom was debating on whether to order the vegetable or pork lumpia, and the cashier told us that they're both equally good so we decided to get both. The lechon belly meat was tender and juicy, although quite salty. I wish we got more skin, it's the best part! The vegetable and pork lumpia was tasty but greasy, that our brown paper had grease all over it! We ended up wiping some of it off from the lumpia. Mom didn't finish hers. However, the shoyu vinegar and vinegar is delicious! We dipped them with the lumpia and lechon belly, but could even drink them by themselves. FYI, lechon sauce is provided with the lechon belly (which we didn't really use). The wait time was about 20-30 minutes. Mom started to get antsy, as we noticed that customers that ordered after us, got their order before us. The customer before us told us they waited around the same time and went to K-Mart while waiting for their order. FYI, they have a separate table of condiments (shoyu and ketchup packets, shoyu vinegar, vinegar), serving utensils, plastic condiment cups (for shoyu vinegar and vinegar), napkins and plastic bags. They took the plastic bags since it was windy, so they gave them when you picked up your order. Overall, good food and friendly service. Magically delicious lechon slow cooked on coals right in front of you. I think the prices are very reasonable. I got 1 lb of lechon for $12. I think he chopped up more than one pound because my plate was over flowing. The skin is nice and crispy, the seasoning is just right and the inside meat is soft. I FINALLY made it to Dick's Lechon!!! We arrived around noon on a Tuesday and there as no line, but a handful of people waiting for their orders. The cashier was speaking in Tagalog to a customer who was inquiring about a rather large order and then I read the signs "wait times varies. It depends on what you order and if its busy or not." No worries....I will seriously wait forever for good lechon and tocino! My eyes popped and mouth drooled as I watched the pork belly roasting over the coals. As I waited, I wondered if I should add lumpia, embutido, or pinakbet to my order but the prices seemed too high and decided the lechon plate and prices per pound were the most reasonably priced items on the menu. After a short 5 minute wait, my number was called and I rushed home to pig out on my pig plate. Sadly, the lechon and tocino were chewy and bland. Seriously, I've never in my life had to force eat lechon or tocino. I texted my friends to see what they're thoughts were and they had the same opinions of the lechon. Came across this food truck while at the 50th State Fair. I was craving banana lumpia and this was the truck that caught my eye. I only had intentions to try the lumpia but my BF was eyeing out the different plates lunch available. The banana lumpia was fresh and crispy with the caramelized coating. Just enough banana and sweetness sure to satisfy my craving. My BF then decided he wanted to try the lechon plate with half rice and half pancit. The Lechon is crispy and with lots of flavor! They provided dipping sauce for the lechon which we did not need. My regret was that we didn't rider lechon to go so we could make lechon kawali with it later. They are located at the Kam Shopping Center Swap Meet and come to Kapolei farmers market (although not sure if it's every thursday). The fun part is watching the roast pork right in front of you. Lechon fried rice! It's a Must try! The food selection at the 50th state fair was not exciting at all. Even the Punahou Carnival has way more to offer as far as Carnival Eats go. Thankfully the Dick's Lechon food stand was there and although there was a little bit of a line, it was worth the wait for the Lechon Fried Rice. The fried rice was ok..not fresh as it probably was prepared a few hours earlier. The Lechon, however, was very fresh and had a great seasoning to it and deliciously crispy. It was also priced just right for the good portion sized meal. My sister had the pancit and shanghai lumpia but could not mirror my satisfying review. Simply put....if you want crispy lechon belly with moist skin then check this food truck out! What I like best about the lechon belly (pork belly)is the flavorful meat. It's really seasoned that you don't really need sauce. Also the crispy lechon skin is generously portioned in your plate lunch. Having enough crispy skin is always a bonus! The embutido or Filipino meatloaf had a nice crisp outer layer and flavorful inside. I wish it wasn't cut in half so I could enjoy a bigger portion of it's awesomeness! Food truck parked in the Waikele shopping center near old navy area. Came here with a craving for aome filipino food. There was a few people in line but service was quick. A great selective menu. What caught my eye was the crispy diniguan. Yes crispy diniguan. I ordered it aS a 1 choice plate. Also got the lechon special for the second plate. You have an option of starch either rice or pansit. I opted for pansit for both plates. The lady who took my order was very sweet. She gave me my order number and I waited for a few minutes. Food was outstanding! The crispy diniguan was super flavorful. Crispy is right! Loved it! It was crispy lechon covered with diniguan sauce. My husband enjoyed it also.
