I'm going to give this location 5 stars even though they lacked a Clarence section and my size in anything I liked... because the customer service was awesome. Every employee that saw me and my sister asked how are day was going, if we needed any help finding anything, and was actively doing something in the store. It's a hit and miss with this store and the reason I return is that it's the only location near me that I am willing to drive to. I visited Dicks between the hours of 10 AM and 11:30 AM on 9/8 I needed a few things. We were greeted as we entered the door. The young man working the shoe department was exceptionally helpful while multitasking. IT IS BECAUSE of this young man that I give this store a 5 star. Unfortunately, I did not get his name; however, he was pleasant showed no indication of being frustrated or stressed by the traffic in his area and while helping someone on the phone. I can't say the same for the front. The cashier that helped me was quick, but he had no clue about the stores' specials or coupons and redirected me to the site or email. Guess It's ok to hold up the line. Other times I have visited this location, the cashiers are busy talking and giggling. If you're looking for a bike go to no one else but Jacob. Overall the experience with other associates was not pleasant. We went to Dicks twice in one day. Earlier that morning we purchased a basketball and encountered a gentleman at the cashier register that was also not pleasant at all. So my 5star is based on one person, Jacob. The second visit this same day my husband and I were looking for bikes during a very busy holiday season we were worried about how we were going to hide 5 bikes and where we were going to assemble them. We asked one associate and she seemed to make any excuse not to be helpful but when we ran into Jacob he was super above and beyond. He had such a pleasant attitude and just willing to help us out. So if you're looking for a bike at Dicks In chino hills Go to him. He also gave us tips on the accessories for bikes and repairs if ever needed. (Lengthy not-so-great reviews) If I can give a negative warning star rating, the level of Customer service experience we received at the Chino (Grand Ave.) location would certainly apply. We went in to buy mountain bikes for dd, dh & myself. Twice we went in, twice we were greatly disappointed. No one was ever available at their bike shop area for assistance. First visit was midweek during the day (not busy at all), no one was there, & was told bike person was on a break. Second visit (early afternoon, mid week), their elusive bike expert was nowhere & again was told we were told he was out for his lunch break & maybe we could return in 40 min. Really??? A whole world of customer service at their Anaheim Hills/Yorba Linda location was experienced. Bike expert actually approached us & addressed our questions. We bought our daughter's bike there (on a Friday about 30 . Unfortunately, it was too big for her & had to return it after 2-weeks. We were within the 90 day return policy, according to the printed receipt. Chino was the closer location from our place so we packed the bike & headed there for the return. I suggested my husband call ahead to give them advance notice of our intentions. Over the phone he was blatantly told we would not be able to return because "once the bikes we were out of the shop, they could not be returned." Really??? We obviously did not believe this & checked their return policy posted on their website. No where did it state anything about no bike returns within the 90 day timeframe. My husband even called the 800# & was adviced by the rep that we were within the 90 day return. Anyhow, we did not bother going to Chino & after walking in at the Anaheim Hills location, no questions asked & we got our money back. If you received exemplary customer service at Chino then count yourself to be so damn lucky. Better money spent at another Dick's location, or better yet shop somewhere else. read more

For anything sporting, I tend to check out Dick's before heading to Sports Authority "around the block." Overall, most of the time the customer service has been okay for me. No complaints there. Granted though, for a sporting's goods store, there is not much variety. Prices are decent and they always seem to have sales on shoes as well! If you need cleats, athletic shoes, and etc, they tend to have a section carved out just for clearance. They do, however, offer free wi-fi. I guess if you need to look up prices online, you are able to with an ipod or tablet! For anything big, like snowboards... I tend to purchase online because their prices are quite high and they do not have great sales like they used to years ago. A few years ago, I asked an employee why they do not really have clearance sales on snowboards and they said they just store them in the back and bring them out again next year to sell. I guess business is different than before. In the past, stores used to sell off items at the end of the season to make room for the next...but I guess not anymore. read more

Made a large purchase of over $600. Everyone we dealt with was nice and helpful. Got home and we were missing a $30 pair of Nike shorts. Called the store and they said no issue, they have a pair and will put our name to hold knowing with the drive it would take at least a few days to pick them up. Called the store to verify they still had them for us and the manager was snarky, dismissive, and said she'd check the cameras and get back the following day. I gave her a week knowing they're busy with the holidays. Called tonight and they said what they could see on the camera nothing was left out. I've spent three phone calls plus a round trip that would have taken over 1.5 hours. It would have cost in time, calls, and fuel more than the $30 we're out. It's the principle that we paid for an item that we didn't receive and the manager was on the rude side. If you shop here check your merchandise before you leave because they will not take accountability for missing items. They lost a long standing customer today. read more

I came in to purchase a Quarterback net as a Christmas gift. As I was shopping I also ended up getting an adidas backpack and football gloves. The backpack was hanging (with multiples) on a rack that displayed $11.99 yet it scanned at $20. After I made my valid point that it was mistagged I received the adjustment. Here is where my experience went really south...I also purchased a Adidas fleece hoodie and pants for my son. They were displayed as a set on sale for $29.98. When I get to my car I realize they charged me twice. I go back and the an employee tells me that its sold separately and rolling her eyes tells me "it says so on the sign". (I NEVER misread sales signs, down to the fine print to avoid wasting time at the register) I tell her to follow me so I can show her it doesn't say so. When we walk over to both see the sales tag, it clearly states: "Boy's Exclusive fleece hoodie AND Pants $29.98" I ask for a manger and she states she's the "manager" and that it doesn't matter what the sign says it's sold separately. I let her know that before this madness I had an employee double check and see if this sale is accurate. I let her know he scanned it and confirmed that the whole wall was indeed a part of that promotion as a set. With no apology for the displayed error, she tells me that the employee never said that and she wasn't even around! I was honestly left in disbelief with how poorly ran this location is. I had to let her know to remove it since she was just going to walk away and let another posible customer go through this. Zero stars if I could, one star because I can't.. 100% attributed to their warranty-related services, which are apparently 100% preformed by their head bike tech Jessie.. I've had nothing but trouble from the start with Dick's and nearly instantly regretted paying extra for the extended warranty, and this new bike for that matter. This extended warranty is the worst money I've ever spent and has caused me to go several months worth of time without my slightly over 1 year old bike and pay well over double the cost of the warranty itself in spare parts.. Jessie and his poor communication and service had me driving to the store several dozen times needlessly. if I had done the work myself, I probably could've bought all the necessary tools and parts for a small amount more. In my numerous calls to the store, I've spoken with at least three different people in the bike department who talked to me like they were techs, yet when it comes time to get jobs done, all work is on hold until Jessie is in. And then the store supposedly goes and makes his schedule highly irregular, so he's almost never available to talk to. No joke, this guy is often in the shop in the middle of the night while the rest of the store is closed, putting in his very limited hours! Then when do I get a chance to talk to them, I'm assured there's no problems and hurried along. I've tried to explain my issues numerous times and most of what I say to whoever it is goes mostly unheard unless that person deems important. The techs have pretty much no communication amongst themselves too. When I noticed my information not getting relayed properly or at all, I mentioned this lack of communication, to a girl up front who snickered and acknowledged that it's an ongoing issue. As far as being a practicing bike tech, I have no clue where Jessie got his certifications if he even has any. He broke rule #1 of wrenching on anything while I was with him and destroyed a crank arm in the process. This wasn't entirely his fault as I was attempting to thread in the incorrect pedal. I handed it over to Jessie who I clearly informed that it wouldn't start threading in with my fingers and he proceeded to wrench it in place anyway. Still, you never crank on any bolt head without trying it with your fingers first.. The very first visit seemed okay, I had a chronic issue getting strange track mark type flats on the new bike and deemed it to be the rim strip, both front and back. Get a call with the recommendation being to get better tubes. After finally convincing then to do the rim strips, I pick it up to find out it has only had one replaced.. several trips later, I have a bike that is finally not getting flats anymore and supposedly had both rim strips replaced. I found out some time later that indeed the rear rim strip never did get replaced and I had started getting the exact same style of flats. There isn't a single time that I originally took my bike in for service and left with it actually completed. It always took at least two check-ins and several times took managerial intervention, which was also met with some resistance more often than not. If I were to set another foot in this store, it would be to ask for a refund for my extended warranty and perhaps the whole bike.. read more

We got there by 8pm by the time we finished looking at the bikes it was about 8:25pm. We were ready to buy them but they argued there wasn't enough time to get them ready. Yes, the things you find at Dick's Sporting Goods can be a bit pricey, but if it's just a regular bike lock with a cable, then you should get something that has the best of both worlds. I got the MasterLock U-Lock which also comes with a cable and a set of two keys for $24.99, and to me, that's just a steal. Normally, name-brand bike locks such as Kryptonite or OnGuard sell for more than $30-$40, and about 90% of the time, they don't come with anything else other than the U-Lock. So, if you actually do the math, one U-Lock for say, $34.99 + a cable for an additional $11.99 + tax (depending on your county), you'll end up shelling out more than $50 for things to lock up your bike. The MasterLock that I got worked really well, and one of the guys who works there was also kind enough to help me with getting some replacement tires. The only gripe that I had was that they didn't have any tires (hybrid instead of mountain) in my size (26 x 2.0), but it was okay. I could go to a Dick's Sporting Goods that's closer to where I live. read more

I recently bought some running shoes, they were a bit pricey but I had heard they worth it if you were really trying to start running. I ordered them in a size 8. They arrived two days before the estimated delivery date which I was thrilled about. However they ended up being too small. Dicks was still offering curbside returns and I was able to return the shoes and order a size up the same day and received my return statement the next day!! Associate was very friendly and helpful! I came across an online ad for Nike copa America gear. I was able to purchase it online at a discounted price and picked it up 3 hours later. Their website is helpful to see if the item is in stock local to you. The added bonus for me ordering online was I was able to use my ebates account. The store itself is big with plenty of items in stock. The staff was welcoming and able to process my pick up asap. We purchased bikes for our boys birthday. We have 6 year old twins. We were assured by the bike tech that the bikes would be thoroughly inspected and safe and ready to ride when we picked them up the next day. We also requested the additional service of having them install training wheels for us. In addition we took my husbands bike in to have the inner tubes replaced and purchased an adult bike for me so we could enjoy family outings. My husband picked the bikes up for the boys birthday party. At first glance everything looked okay. When we got home and got the boys ready to ride we realized the gravity of our error in making this purchase at Dicks. All 3 of the new bikes came home with flat tires. None of the reflectors were installed properly unless dangling backwards is correct. The most egregious offense was that the training wheels were installed incorrectly so that when my son started to ride the wheels literally fell off. Since he is a new rider he fell because of this. The repairs to my husbands bike included a bulging improperly installed tube and a front wheel installed incorrectly resulting in a 4th unusable bike. I called the manager on duty and was assured that if we brought the bikes bake they would make it right. Since they have a no return policy on bikes I took his assurance and we took the bikes back have the problems corrected. The man who helped us apologized repeatedly and told us this clearly was a huge issue and Dicks was clearly at fault. He said he would let the manager know and make sure the repairs were made. A week later we received a call that the bikes were ready. My husband went in tonight to pick them up. By all appearances the repairs to his bike seem acceptable. Before leaving the store he inspected our sons bike and none of the issues had been addressed. Dicks was ready to send a bike home for a 6 year old to learn to ride with a training wheel that fell off by just manually spinning the wheel. I am appalled that over a week later I still have not received any type of reasponse to the complaint I filed with their corporate office. Based on this experience Dicks has lost any chance of any future business from me or my family. read more

Chick's is "aight" .... but I think they're a little over-priced. If you know what you want and know what size you'll need, you can find same items online for lower prices, but I think you'll like coming to this location to look around and try stuff on. They carry a lot of different brands and lots of selection and for all different kinds of sports (basketball, weight training, baseball, softball, golf, tennis, running, snowboarding, etc) If you're looking for something I'm sure they'll have it. This store sucks! I wish I could give 0 stars. I've been in there multiple times to get some information on the Nordic track stationary bike. There's never an employee on the floor to ask so yesterday I tried again and the store was not very busy. In the front of the store we're 4 employees standing around chatting with each other so I asked if someone could answer some questions about this $2000 bike I want to buy. The lead guy tells me to go back there and someone will be there to help. After standing there for a good ten minutes nobody ever showed up and I'm on my lunch hour. I have been a customer at this Dick's Sporting Goods location for years ever since they bought Chick's. This place has gone way downhill but is still a generally good store. Customer service needs improvement. I have bought many things from here including flip-flops, snowboards, skis, running shoes, and much more. They used to have a much bigger ski and snowboard section with a bigger selection. They now cater more towards team sports, camping, tennis, running, and golfing. Their clearance sales also used to be better a few years ago even when it was bought by the new company. They used to have pretty good sales on ski & snowboard equiptment. The customer service at this store is just absolutely horrendous. The only good customer service is at the registers depending on which employees are working that day. Whenever I go in to the store and look around, nobody ever greets or acknowledges me. The employees never ask you how you are doing or if you need assistance. I walked into the workout equiptment where the bikes and weights are in the back of the store. There was an employee working on a bicycle. I walked near the counter and he stopped, looked up at me and stared for about 5 seconds, and looked down and continued what he was doing. I hope Dick's can fix these issues so I can feel comfortable shopping here. Until then, Sport Chalet is my go-to destination for all my sporting goods needs. read more

Saw an awesome deal on some Titleist golf balls that my FIL loves (the Pro V1s) in the newspaper and located a Dick's nearest to the 60 freeway on our way out to visit some friends. This Dick's is located in a HUUUUGE shopping center with tons and tons of other stores so it can be convenient if you're running a bunch of errands, but it also means it's easy to get lost/disoriented. +1 star for someone answering the phone and helpfully telling me the hours and confirming the availability of the balls +1 star for having the item I wanted in stock and easy to find (even though I called ahead, I'm always afraid someone made a mistake or lied or whatever... it happens!) +1 star for efficient check out. It was the weekend after Christmas so I had a feeling it'd be crowded, and the line was LONG, but you could tell the 3 people at the register were doing their best and not being grouchy about it either. Yesterday on October 26,2022 like around 8:00pm-8:30pm I went to go shop to get my girl friend something for her spooky basket for Halloween I was looking for the socks with flowers on them and I asked a girl didn't get her name but she was very nice to me and told me where the socks would be at unfortunately I didn't find them so I started looking into some sweaters and the security guard was just surrounding me like If I was going to take something from them he kept walking around me and eyeing me and it maybe me feel really uncomfortable I actually felt harassed i hope they can review the cameras to see how uncomfortable it was I tried shopping for more stuff but I just couldn't and they can not say it wasn't for me cause if you review the cameras right when I got to the register to pay the security went back to his station and wasn't walking around anymore.
