Easily the worst experience I've had exchanging products in store. Simple shoe exchange turned into an hour and half long process. They need to be able to to order a product for a customer without having the customer have to pay twice!!! We hAd to refund the incorrect size and repurchase the correct size. As a service, Dick's steams gloves for patrons that purchase baseball gloves. Apparently, after moving a year or so ago, this Dick's steamer does not work. The employee stated "we just moved and do not have the electrical hooked up too it. #1- you have been there for quite some time now, #2- there are a lot of licensed electricians in Rocklin area, including myself. "Lets go fix it" i said. He told me its not that easy. Its very easy, and dont lie to your customers because we got a glove steamed there last year. Anyways, bad customer service at cash registers. Employees chit chatting it up while 8 people stood in line waiting. I like shopping at Dick's for all our sporting needs, but this one seems out of shape. read more

I had an issue with a pair of shoes I purchased on Christmas Eve. I spoke to customer service and they didn't seem like they were willing to help much. Then I received an email from James (one of the managers). I was blown away with the way James handled my situation. He was genuine, understanding, and caring. Not only did he take the time to contact me on Christmas Eve when I'm sure he was busy. But he also called me the day after Christmas and was able to fix my issue that day. I used to love this place, until I brought my bike in for repair. My bike is in Dick's Sporting Goods bike repair shop now for seven days and now they're telling me that it may possibly be ready on Wednesday because no techs are working tomorrow. They said there was a tech working on it today but he had to go home. First of all if you're going to do bike repair, you should have techs that work every day not just a few days a week and come in at 11 o'clock, and leave at two. They told me it would probably be six days, but probably sooner than that. This is the worst customer service I've ever been, well, maybe not ever but pretty darn bad. I've had no updates. I've had to call them every time and every time I call oh yeah, there's still five bikes In front of you. Call two days later, Oh yeah, there's still five bikes in front of you. When do you guys work on bikes, actually, that shouldn't be the question the question should be, Why do you guys work on bikes. It was a simple tuneup. Now I don't know what is involved in a bike tuneup but I know it's not a car. This is ridiculous. The weather is good and I can't ride my bike for at least nine days and I'm not sure that it's going to be ready on Wednesday. I'm just telling everybody out there, most other places are more expensive but right now with my experience, well worth it. It's a bike people it's not a car. 9 days for a simple tuneup on a bike, possibly. Like I said, I'm not even sure if I'm gonna get it Wednesday. We came to Dicks Sporting Goods to pick up a paddle board we purchased online, we also purchased a kayak online but had to place it to pick up at another store location (which we live an hour away so it was going to be a little out of the way to go to another store). While picking up other small misc. items we noticed the kayak we ordered online, we found an associate named Zach and asked if he was able to help us with it. Zach was very friendly and on top of it all, he not only helped us so we were able to buy the kayak at this store location but also quickly gathered our in store pickup of the paddle board. He was extremely helpful with other gear we needed to pick up as well. He helped us take everything to the front, as well as take it to our truck outside. He went above and beyond and checked to see if he had any red flags inside while we were tying down the kayak and paddle board, he brought it to the front and informed us that they would be at the cash register. Maggie helped us at the register and also was so extremely friendly and helpful with signing us up for the rewards program! This is the worst store I have ever shopped at - I honestly cannot believe their lack of integrity and customer service. Purchased a bike or our 11yo son. When we got home, he rode it for a day or two and the back end gear system broke. Every time he changed a gear, the chain de-railed. Upon looking closely at the bike, the system was put together incorrectly (two screws were not put in properly.) We took the bike to the store and asked them to fix the issue - they refused. So we said we wanted our money back then. They refused to do that too and instead gave us store credit. We do not want to purchase one thing from them but are currently being held hostage and forced to buy something else. I don't think they'll stay open for long. Do yourself a favor and go to a reputable bike shop like Performance Bike in Auburn or Roseville Cyclery - where they stand by their products and treat you like a fellow human being. read more

I purchased 2 pairs of shoes. On two separate visits. On both occasions the customer service was atrocious. The associates all seemed to be irritated to help customers. They seemed to be concerned about conversation amongst each other. Dicks sporting goods must be an absolute horrible employer. As the last time I visited one the customer service was slightly better. I am disappointed in this store. We went from having two sports stores in the area with Sports Chalet and Sports Authority and when those closed it left us with no options. When we heard Dick's was opening a store, we were happy. Since it's opening we have been very unimpressed by the selection available. Our son plays baseball and that section of the store leaves little to be desired. This weekend was the biggest disappointment! Dick's put out a 20% off coupon for Woodcreek Little League and they were VERY unprepared. We got to the store 10 minutes after opening on Saturday 2/17 (first day of this coupon). The selection was not good and they did not have all sizes available. When we asked an associate why they weren't prepared for this he just answered, "we have been wiped out of a lot of items the past few weeks." Really?! You knew this was coming up, place a larger order and be prepared for it!!!!!! The best though was when the manager who overheard the conversation chimed in and added "make sure to let them know that they can place an order online and use the coupon for that." Really? That's your solution? I don't want to order online, you can't try items on when you shop online. I expect there to be a good selection in the store. I guess when you are the only gig in town, you don't really have to care about your selection or good customer service. We will continue to take our business to Bases Loaded in Rancho Cordova, since they know how to do it right!!!! read more

We just went to Dick's Sporting Goods over the weekend to pick up some gear for an upcoming Spartan race in Sacramento California. The selection is great, As they have literally every namebrand you could hope for. It reminds me a lot of The Sports Authority that used occupy the building. I was a little disappointed in the level of customer service. When we called to check on a product, we were placed on hold, transferred to another department, and then the same person who originally answer the phone picked up again. No big deal, as I am sure they are busy. But when I went into the store to buy the product, it was very difficult to find somebody to help me. Additionally, they don't have very many fitting rooms. I waited almost 20 minutes to try on a couple of pairs of compression shorts. So if you want good selection, there really isn't anywhere else in Roseville to go. Champs is gone, and Big five doesn't have much in the way of selection or quality. Just don't expect to get amazing customer service from these guys. Who knows, maybe it was an off day. First visit, last visit!! No help, not a living employee , except in the golf department. He knew nothing that had to do with women's wear..I was directed to a rack of men's base level wear ! An extra star becuase I like that they at least try to support local communities with 20% off sales...but what's the point if nothing is instock. Here is a list of out of stock items during my visit today: Dark green socks, dark green belts, eye black, USA stamped size 32 bat, size 10.5 rubber baseball cleats, youth green half sleeve undershirt, youth large gray pants with stripe...at this point I gave up. Do you plan out seasons at all? I get that I could of found someone and ordered online but I can do that on Amazon for less. What's the point of having a retail store if you have to go online to find 50% of the items. Lastly pricing. Very few bucket of balls were priced, I counted at least 7 items on shelves not priced. You need a MERCHANT in this store...quickly! If you're not sure what that word means, contact someone over 35 years old that's been in retail, when physical retail stores mattered. read more

I would have given them more stars but I really didn't need customer service. I searched every athletic store in the mall for grippy socks (I'm sure there's a technical term for them, but I dunno. Anyway, I was getting really disappointed that I couldn't find them anywhere, so I went to Dick's. Dick's had them. They had plain grippy socks and ballet grippy socks. We came to this location to check out what bikes they had in stock, since the website did not give us an option to order, just stated limited stock so we obviously had to come check it out ourselves. We went to 2 different local bike shops and the Dicks at Delta Shores on 5/23 and none of those locations had the bikes we were looking for. We decided to come to this location to check out their limited stock. We walked straight to the bike section, saw all the bikes hanging (which were customers orders waiting to be picked up) and got excited because at the time, we thought that's what they had in stock for sale. We were looking and a worker in a brown/tannish shirt comes with a ladder/stepping stool to remove a bike for a customers pick up. We asked him how do we check out what bikes they had in stock, he told us we had to order online so they can put it together. My husband asked if we can just purchase it and put it together ourselves, guy told us no they have to put it together. We asked how do we order and guy told us we had to do it online. Ok....... well obviously we are here because the website did NOT give us an option to "order" ahead of time so you can put it together. Fast forward, we walked away since he didn't seem like he wanted to help so 0 stars for him and bad customer service from him. We walked to the bike counter where the helpful young man was putting bikes together. He stopped what he was doing, asked what we were looking for, we told him, and he checked the boxes he had on the floor AND went to the back to check for us. To our surprise, he had BOTH the bikes we wanted. Even though one was a return, it was the exact bike and size we needed for my husband. He took pics of it since it was in the back to show us that it was in perfect condition. He advised us that can hold it for us to pick up the following day including my bike that had to be put together still. We took the paper he wrote on to the front cashier to pay for the bikes and went home. We got a call later in the evening to let us know the bikes were ready if we wanted to pick them up but we decided to get it the following morning so we could go on the nearby trail to test ride! read more

Customer service does still exist! Found John in the bike shop who could have easily dismissed my claim that the bicycle I just purchased was making a knocking noise. He took his time with it and made adjustments to it over the course of an hour. Unfortunately it was not fixable. Without me having to ask for anything John said he'd speak with the manager about options. They were able to get me taken care of with another bike. John was patient and a good communicator throughout the process. He also is very knowledgeable with bikes. The reason this impacted me was because he could have easily dismissed the slight knocking noise but instead validated it. The manager could have also been more of a stickler when it came to the swap out, which he wasn't, and I totally appreciate that. Thanks Dicks in Roseville! read more

Went in here the other day to buy some sports equipment for my grandkiddos... needed to buy a lot of stuff and couldn't carry them because I recently had major hip surgery. I was helped by a very kind young man named Blake who offered to carry all of the equipment I was purchasing! Very sweet of him helping out us old people! He made sure I was okay and even helped me with suggestions on brands and products to buy. He did fall and drop 6 basketballs in one of the aisles but got right back up and kept helping me! Went into this store looking for running shoes. As I walked into the store I walked and ask the greeter where the restrooms were,he gave directions and then said hope it comes out well. I felt not an appropriate answer when talking to a customer. "I not your roommate ". Then after looking at Running shoes. I decided to look at your Gulf shirts. I needed to try them on walked towards dress room found a clerk talking to another clerk ,I said excuse me I would like to try these shirts where are your dressing rooms. With no acknowledgment turns around and starts walking not even hows your day going nor follow me. I assumed I guess I follow her. She walked to dressing room unlocked it. And not one word came out of her mouth. "Rude" no manners. Rating due to the associate that helped us in the athletic shoe dept. Her name was LeighAnn extremely professional. When we arrived in the department, even though she was assisting another cutomer, she greeted us and smiled. Her knowledge of shoe lines and people was so helpful and impressive. I was purchasing shoes for an 11 year old and his eyes just lit up when she brought out a pair that fit our every need, I mean color, price, everything. You could tell from the beginning she was customer oriented, if a customer is very satisfied they will come back, she was just great and I am sure we will be back. read more

I purchased a bike there and was told that they couldn't find a ladder to get it down and I would have to come back another day to get it. They did eventually find a ladder, but then told me there was no bike mechanic available and they can't give a bike to customers until they have been checked out. When I was building bikes they were good to go before they went out on the floor. When I came back the next day they went over the bike and they didn't adjust anything for the rider size, just a quick check and some adjusting. When I got it home I got it out of the car and pulled on the rear brake lever. The cable slipped with little effort pulling on the lever. I went ahead and went over everything myself. The brakes needed some adjusting on top of tightening down the cable. read more

Went to this store on 10/26/2017, looking for a pair of running shoes. There were two guys waiting on 3 customers, another guy from golf came to help me. He showed me the shoes I wanted, but did not have my size, asked if I could take one size smaller, or one size larger?? What? In any event, no shoes in my size, he will order them for me. Spent 45 minutes trying to place the order, and no receipt, because he couldn't get the printer to work. I gave up, and surrendered that I would get a packing slip or email. Fast forward to 12/28/2017 and now my $160 running shoes have a small hole at the tip of the right shoe. I go back into the store, and the snotty clerk, who only wanted to robotically repeat that I need a receipt, packing slip, and the fact they ordered them was of no interest. Her eye rolling, and exasperated sighs of displeasure of interuptions read volumes to me; the consumer who had a expensive pair of shoes that had not lasted 8 weeks. I called customer service, (a third party company handling their calls) had more empathy, but said they would not return used shoes. I explained that they were defective, not just used. He suggested I go back to the store in Roseville, or call the manufacturer direct. As a distributor isn't that you're job to contact YOUR supplier to file a complaint about a defective product.?? I contacted the manufacturer myself, therefore, will never step foot in this store or any other Dick's Sporting Goods store again. There are many other stores who would like to have my business. If you don't take care of your customers, somebody else will, and Dick's failed miserably. read more
