Went with a very big group and they were very accommodating food was good but it just didn't taste as authentic as I thought it would overall great drinks and vibes!!

Breakfast sandwich

Great brunch spot with good prices. Brunch is served until 2pm. I ordered the breakfast sandwich that came with their breakfast hash. The bread was really soft and slightly toasted. The potatoes had chopped onion and some cheese that were delicious. Service was quick but there was some miscommunication in our orders. My friend didn't get the right protein for her bowl and another friend had her eggs the wrong way she wanted. She asked the waitress if there was eggs inside the breakfast taco but she said no. She asked for eggs to be added inside but she gave her a sunny side up egg on the side instead which we thought was really funny. It's a cute place that has retro coloring with a Mexican flair to it. Prices were good at about $12-15 for each of our meals.

This place was so busy! We went at 4:30 and got on the waitlist. We waited 50 minutes to get a table but there were 9 of us. Our server was really nice and got everyone's orders accurate. We had the Brussels sprout nachos, grilled shrimp tacos, ceviche, steak quesadilla, and deviled eggs. Everyone enjoyed their meal very much. The food had nice flavor and the perfect amount of spice. The skinny margaritas were also super good. This place is very trendy and very popular with tourists so expect a wait but overall I would say it's worth the wait.

This was a cool spot in the middle of Scottsdale. Perfect for large groups, and had a vibey atmosphere. The food was good, and the drinks were tasty. The Watermelon margarita was delicious and tasted just like a watermelon. The bowl was a nice size. I liked the option of making any taco a bowl. Service was good. Food was correct and came out timely

California Burrito

Ate here for brunch and waited about 45 minutes walking in on a busy Friday afternoon. Service was nice, but the food was okay. Loved the plantains with the chips and dips, but the horchata was very sweet. It was difficult to taste the braised green chili chicken in the house burrito, but the California burrito was really good. Highly recommend trying the sauces on the table! Overall, it's a cute restaurant to go to for a bachelorette since it's near Old Town, but the food is alright.

We were planning to have breakfast in a nearby, very popular place, but after hearing the queue was closer to 2 hours, we changed our plan and entered Diego Pops without any waiting time. What a great surprise it provided, and made us wanting to come back hete soon again. Very nice ambience with indoor and (mist) patio areas, and the most courteous and professional service. Food was tasty, tex mex style, and there were nice drinks too. Location is fabulous although it might be slightly challenging to find parking slot nearby. It is in general nice to just roam the Old Town streets in any case, so that is of no concern. As commented, we will be back soon again.

Always a fun energetic vibe. The staff is friendly, happy hour specials are great, I always order chicken tacos, I recently tried the shrimp and I was blown away how tasty they were. Fun time for cinco De Mayo as well.

This place has a great vibe, especially if you sit on the garden patio. The decor is "poppy" and fun. The food arrives quickly which is also nice. I would skip the drinks unless you're getting a margarita. Our server wasn't very attentive which likely attributed to the three star review. The food is ok. Nothing super special. Loved that they didn't put cilantro on everything. Sorry, I'm that girl. lol

AMAZING!! The chips were chipping...the vibes were vibing....and my mouth was watering. No complaints here, and no food left on my plate . Don't let the weird name fool you!! The sauces were all excellente and service was awesome WILL COME AGAIN

Brussels Sprouts Fact: In 2014, competitive eater Emma Dalton ate 325 Brussels sprouts in 36 minutes. Although Guinness World Records didn't officially confirm her record, this is the largest known quantity of sprouts consumed in one sitting. I've been wanting to pop in here for the longest time. Who in Arizona doesn't know their iconic Brussels Sprouts Nachos (Street corn queso, queso oaxaca, fresno chili, pickled onion, roasted garlic beet crema, fried egg)? At the table is a generous offering of more hot sauces but more importantly, they have a giant squeeze bottle of that pretty-in-pink hued roasted garlic beet crema. Squeeze more on, cracking that egg, and dig in! It was bite after bite of pure bliss. The table also shared some ceviche and I got a crispy fish taco on the side. It was an amazingly delicious evening with some colleagues. Diego Pops has a 4.1 star rating on yelp with over 2.7k reviews. I get the hype and the hype is so well deserved! They also have a great Happy Hour special (7 days a week from 3pm-6pm): 1/2 off appetizers, $2 off beers, $6 Diego Margaritas , and $6 wine and sangrias.

Had my first Sonoran dog here. Found the menu had a good variety everything we tried was tasty. Ate outside. The wire chairs are not very comfortable. They limit your stay to two hours and you might not want to sit in them mud linger than that anyway. Service was fine. They keep busy

I have tried Diego Pops a few times before and I didn't really care for it. But the past two times that we have visited have been 10/10 experiences. I think it's because of the time we visited in the past. In the past, we have gone in the evening hours and it was way too packed and because of that, the quality tends to follow the chaos of the guests. Regardless, I'm giving them a 10/10 rating because their tacos are incredible! Their drinks are great and the service ESPECIALLY when you sit at the bar is grade A! The gentleman that was working the bar was incredible and it made our visit very pleasant! Thank goodness we finally found our taco spot! The vibe inside is really cute. My absolute favorite thing about the restaurant is the AMAZING SAUCES! I am a condiment girl and can't eat food without it! Amazing sauces! Love them! The green chili chicken taco was my favorite! Pair it with the beet sauce (pink) and it's *chefs kiss!!!!

I visited Diego Pops on a Bachelorette Party and absolutely loved it. Maybe I'm a bit biased because I picked out this spot, but I really did enjoy it, as did the rest of the group. The vibes were awesome and they did a great job accommodating for our larger party! Food and drinks both exceeded expectations and the pricing seemed fair for what we got. If you're looking for a fun ambiance with indoor and outdoor space, go for Diego Pops!

Does anyone know if Diego Pops is open for Labor Day?

Is this place dog friendly?

Yes. They have a patio area

Can you modify menu items to accommodate allergies or preferences? E.g. remove cheese and cream to make dairy free.

Yes, Im allergic to milk not lactose intolerance and they accommodated all my needs

Would I be able to get a table for party of 13 for Saturday for dinner?

They can definitely accommodate that size. The question is if they have it booked or not already. Call ahead do not try to book online and as far in advance as possible. Make resos and for the rest of everyone reading this the next several months…

Do they take Reservations?

I believe they do to sit in certain areas. When my buddy and I stopped by we were walk-ins, but even then the wait wasn't too long.

How do you make a reservation?

They don't do reservations unless its a larger party, just show up and put your name in

Is happy hour just at the bar?

No. Happy hour is throughout the restaurant.

How big is the portion size? Specifically curious about the breakfast burrito. TYIA

I don't know about the breakfast burrito but all of their portions are huge!

Super nice and attentive. There were only two people working that I could see, a gentleman who may have been the manager and a young lady. The man was so respectful and helpful when we said it was our first time. He pulled out the menu and went through it with us. The wall menu is also super helpful. As the tacos are mostly over $6 each, I noticed they have a combo for two tacos, a side and a drink. Great deal if you add two tacos, guac & chips and a drink up separately and compare to the regular price. I ordered the CHIMICHURRI STEAK* grilled steak, basmati rice, chimichurri, avocado, pickled fresnos, queso fresco, flour tortilla. I found this flavorful but I didn't thoroughly read about the rice. I don't care for rice in my tacos. But other than that. I liked it. I also ordered the HATCH CHILE PORK. guac, poblano slaw, pickled fresnos, queso fresco, micro cilantro, corn tortilla This was nice & spicy. Tortillas and all the ingredients seamed very fresh. For my side I ordered the guac and chips. The guac is delicious. Very refreshing. I think the chips are store bought but they are blue corn which I prefer anyway. My husband ordered the GRILLED SALMON. napa slaw, lime crema, pickled fresnos, corn pico, avocado crema, micro cilantro, corn tortilla. He said it was delicious. He also ordered the QUESA BIRRIA. pulled pork, gruyere, queso listo, pickled red onion, micro cilantro, griddled corn tortilla, birria consomé for dipping. He said it was good but lacked flavor. My only negative, and I don't want to necessarily blame the staff as it is the owner's duty to hire enough staff to care for the place. But the floors had little pieces of food spilled everywhere and the tables were sticky. Same with the soda and condiments area. It needs a good cleaning through day. The staff were super busy making food and serving guests. They need to add an additional employee to assist these guys. I'm sure we will be back at some point.

Instead, we opted for their take‑home catering, which ended up being an excellent alternative. The online ordering process was straightforward, and the party‑package options made selecting our menu very easy. The food itself was flavorful and well‑received by our group. The only drawback was the pickup experience. Despite arrwaiting in line, we were intentionally passed over for service with no explanation, which was disappointing. Overall, the catering quality was strong, but the in‑person service at pickup could be improved.

I saw only one server, he was waiting about 3-4 tables and seemed to be responsible for the to go orders, as well. He did not welcome me or my friend with me, so we took a seat until he was able to help us. After sitting for about 5 or so minutes, he hastily set two glasses of water down in front of us without making eye contact or saying anything to us. I said hello and asked if we could put a to go order in. He very obviously rolled his eyes at this request, and quickly removed the waters from the table and walked to the ordering POS. He did not say literally any words. Just gestured for us to stand and meet him at the kiosk. We get up and follow him, and I begin by asking for a chicken quesadilla. I did not realize this was something not on the menu, but it doesn't seem like a hard thing to make at a Mexican restaurant ??? He replies rudely, "That isn't even something we have on our menu. Do you even know what you want to order?" I was not understanding why he was acting with disrespect, as neither my friend nor I had treated him with any behavior similar to his. He quickly says "I am going to give you guys 10 minutes to figure your order out and get it together." He leaves. We sit down, and I texted my friend what she wanted instead of a chicken quesadilla. He returns a bit later and we try again. She asked for a bean and rice burrito, so that's what I ask for. He slams his hands on the counter, and huffs and puffs about this order, too. He goes "WE DON'T HAVE THAT EITHER!" At this point, I am really upset with how I have been treated. There was not one point where he was patient, kind, or respectful in any category. This is 100% not how you treat patrons. I ask, "Is us being here too much for you? Is our order too difficult? We can leave, if that is the case." He says it is. We leave. I have worked in food since I was 15 years old. I understand the stress and urgency that comes with a restaurant. At no point have I ever made someone feel badly for ordering. That is what your job requires. If taking an order for a bean and rice burrito is so overwhelming, I would heavily consider a different career path. Disrespectful and incredibly unprofessional. 0/5 stars if possible :(

Sometimes the best meals happen because your original plan falls through. That was exactly the case…read morehere, and honestly... I'm not even a little mad about it. I ordered the veggie tacos with roasted sweet potatoes (skin on, which was absolutely the right call), pepitas, feta, and all the right toppings. Whoever prepped those sweet potatoes deserves a raise because they were cut into the perfect sized pieces. Every bite had a little sweetness, a little crunch, a little saltiness... it just worked. My dining partner ordered the barbacoa tacos, and I didn't even have to ask if they were good. The involuntary "Mmm..." after the first bite answered that question. Four tacos disappeared in record time, followed by, "I could've eaten two more." That's about as glowing of a review as you're going to get. Now let's talk about these tortillas. Handmade. Corn. Tortillas. Are you kidding me? They're the kind of tortillas that had me question every tortilla I've ever eaten. Soft, fresh, and somehow they manage to steal the spotlight even with everything else on the plate being so good. The chips and guacamole were excellent, too. The chips have to be made in-house and they disappeared at an alarming rate. The salsa that came with them had this smoky, fire-roasted, chipotle flavor that kept me reaching for another chip... and then another... and then suddenly I realized I'd eaten way more chips than I intended. The bottled table salsas deserve their own paragraph because they completely confused me... in the best way. They bring three to the table... a green, a red, and a darker red. I kept tasting them individually thinking, "Okay, these are alright." Then I started mixing them. Game over. On their own, each one was solid. Mixed together? That was the magic. I don't know if that's what they intended or if I accidentally stumbled onto the perfect combination, but from that point on, every taco got the salsa trio treatment. The only tiny hiccup was when we first walked in. We were greeted, asked if we wanted menus, and sat ourselves. We waited for a bit thinking someone would come take our order, only to realize it's actually counter service. Once we figured that out, everything was smooth sailing. Not a big deal at all... just something first-time visitors might want to know. Follow the sign "order here" I also loved the layout. You can actually watch them making the food, which somehow makes the wait even harder because everything smells incredible. Two tacos ended up being the perfect light meal for me. Could I have eaten ten? Absolutely. Those two statements can both be true. Meanwhile, my dining partner polished off four barbacoa tacos and was talking about ordering two more. We only ended up here because another place happened to be closed, and honestly, I'm glad it worked out that way. This ended up being one of those meals we keep talked about on the drive home. Oh and the bathrooms?. I walked in and immediately thought, "Whoa... this is a cool bathroom" The lighting had this pinkish-purple glow that made me feel like I'd accidentally wandered into a trendy lounge instead of a taco shop. I honestly wasn't even sure there was regular lighting in there and I didn't look... because the vibe seemed so intentional. Finally, the music. .. upbeat, dance-worthy, the kind that had me bouncing in my seat while waiting for my food. Between the atmosphere, the lighting, and the music, the whole place had me want to hang out a little longer. Zero regrets. I'll absolutely be back... and next time I'm ordering more tacos.

This review is for the totality of the experience…read more I made an advance reservation at Alma Scottsdale for a mid-sized group of 7 to celebrate a special occasion. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.
