First time in Redmond, we were looking for some good Mexican food. Couple choices, but something about Diego's called us in. Cute downtown, plenty of street parking - we were worried it was going to be deserted. BUT NO! Lively bar area in front, full bar (with bubbly tonic! A prerequisite....) and tables were almost all full. Covered heated patio out back was crowded, but they sat is indoors and we were happy! Drinks were quick, good chips and salsa right away, and food was terrific. Tamale & enchilada-GREAT. Carnitas tacos-EXCELLENT. Carne Asada-SUPER. We even had a special request for spinach mushroom quesadilla-DELICIOUS. Our server Roberto was fun, entertaining, and fast on the service side - we will definitely be back! read more

This place has the worst Mexican food I've ever tasted. Please, save yourself from the expensive prices ( which are so far from worth it that I want to ask for a refund) and save your taste buds. Taco Bell isn't even Mexican food and it far surpasses this place in flavor when it comes to tacos or burritos. The salsa here is overpowered by cumin which shouldn't even be in fresh salsa. Who puts cumin in fresh salsa?! There was no spice to any of the food. The guacamole had no flavor meaning it most likely had old ingredients. It didn't even have a lemon taste, just disgusting oily tastes. The tacos were fried- what kind of Mexican restaurant doesn't use fresh corn and soft tortillas? The chicken and beef were repulsive and had a weird color. The black beans were flavorless and gritty. The green rice tastes like it was a few days old. The staff were rude and act like any customer is an inconvenience. I implore you to go elsewhere. Anywhere else besides this rancid place. read more

Have eaten here before and loved it. tonight the food was amazing as always, but the service was absolutely terrible! Our server, Roberto14, was short with us from the beginning. There were no pleasantries exchanged during our entire meal. He was in a very unprofessional hurry the entire time. He hurried us during ordering, even though we all knew what we wanted, we weren't telling him fast enough. He shoved dishes at us without respect and in a hurry. Brought us our checks without asking if we wanted dessert. We were celebrating a birthday and he knew it. We decided to just pay and have dessert elsewhere. But, the worst part of it was when we were trying to get eight people away from the table he's standing behind us yelling at us, "come on, come on, move it, move it!" Like he was moving cattle! Found this place last minute online and there Osso Bucco looked amazing, so we had dinner before my flight took off from Redmond. It was delicious. A little expensive but worth it! Was passing through on my way to Washington from a long backpacking trip and was starving. Found this place and was so pleased. The server was friendly and genuinely happy to take care of us dirty gals. The food was amazing, great salsa and chips, and delicious carne asada. I accidentally left my debit card there and realized it after getting back to Washington. I called and spoke to the owner Maribel and she kindly mailed it to me the next day. I was visiting Redmond during the holidays and went Diego's for New Year's Eve. What a surprise, I had the carne asada and it was fantantic. I am hispanic and originally from Texas, I know what good carne asada should taste. This plate was the tenderest meat I have had in a long time (I live in California now). Way overdue review. I have been here 4 times over the last 8 years. I would give this place 6 stars if I could. I would recommend making reservations. This place can get busy. Great list of tequilas if that is your thing. My favorite tequila is El Tesoro Paradaiso extra anejo. These guys had it in the bar! Manager comp me a shot of Clase Azul Anejo because it was one of his favorites. Highly recommend the table side guacamole. I go with the crab stuffed enchiladas every time- how can you beat that. Most people who go to Diego's talk about the Mexican food, but there is so much more. You've got to try the Pork Osso Bucco. Fabulous slow cooked pork that is falling' off the bone good, served with an amazing, flavorful black truffle oil sauce. All I can say is "Wow!" Our group also enjoyed the Arroz con Pollo, the Chicken Fajitas and the Acapulco burrito. I wouldn't describe this as an "authentic mexican restaurant" it's more of a contemporary restaurant with mexican inspired entree's. It's not cheap, prices for dinner are in the $16 to $24 range, but the food and the service were very good. We went on a Friday night - expect a wait. At 6:30pm when we checked in the wait was 50 minutes (yikes), so we gave them our name, told them we'd be back and walked around the corner to the Pig and Pound, had a beer and walked back 35 minutes later and they had a table ready for us! The only disappointment was the craft beer selection was very limited and the service was slow, but they were packed and hoppin. Even when we left at 9pm they were full and people were still comin' in. The atmosphere was comfortable and lively. We were in Redmond for a motor home rally and found this place on Yelp. While it sounds like a typical Mexican restaurant, it's anything but. While they offer some of the usual Mexican dishes they are done with a twist. The combination meals come with green rice and refried black beans. The menu includes a number of steak dishes and chicken fried steak. I had the pork osso bucco with mashed potatoes with black truffle oil. I didn't know what it would be like but it was delicious and fall off the bone tender. The wait staff was busy but still very quick. Highly recommend. read more

One more place on our visit to Redmond was Diego's. This is on the same street as The Brickhouse just the opposite side of the street. We drove up and got a parking spot directly in front of this restaurant. When we exited our vehicle the hostess came out and opened the door for us and seated us right away. We were served by a rather nice looking young man from whom the question was asked, what do people come back here for? He said the pork osso buco. I had thought about ordering this item, but went with crab enchiladas. Well our two friends did get the suggested item and they were thrilled with the food and it did look pretty damn good. Mine and Gus' dinners too were very good. I liked the feel of the place and the employees were seemingly to enjoy the customers too so that was nice to see. Okay I had to come back a second time just to make sure I could give it 5 stars because my first experience was so good, I was sure it was a fluke. To my surprise, it was just as good so this is an honest 5 star review on my part. The service here was amazing, both times I frequented Diego's it was busy; however, the friendly and amazing staff seated us right away and the wait was not bad at all. Drinks here are awesome, and my wife really liked the "Lava Flow" a Diego's original that looks as good as it tastes. One of those drinks where one person orders it, and everyone wants to know 'what's that she's drinking' and more get ordered... Top notch. I went for a Gin an tonic (excellent made with Hendrick's gin) and followed that up with a pinapple martini - both were a pleasure. Finally, the food - OMG the food here is amazing. I had the Chicken Fried Steak, for sure the best I have ever had, and possibly one of the most well prepared and plated dishes I've had passed in front of me in quite sometime. I just moved here from Arizona - Big City and Incredible Foody Spots - but this place is right up there with the best places I have eaten at in Scottsdale.. I literally came back the next day for lunch and of course, everything was just as incredible. If your looking for a Foodgasim, this spot in the little town Redmond Oregon is the place to be. read more
