Then she and another server came over several times asking if we were ready to order. "What's the rush?" I ordered Eggs Benedict. She then started to ask for my daughter's order without asking me my choices. My dtr ordered waffles and bacon. Food came out very quickly. We could hear a microwave and asked if the bacon was microwaved she said no but it sure looked like it. Fruit was an option instead of home fries very fresh. There are so many places to try so won't be rushing back. Considering how fast it was served my Benedict wasn't very hot. This is definitely our go to place almost every weekend now. The food is good, not great, not fancy, but solid and consistent. The portions are perfect because they give you just enough food but not too much where you are in a food coma for the rest of the day. This place is run by Cambodian people, I know it may be racist but I can see how the attitude of the waitress change towards Caucasian and Asian people, just by the glimpse of the eye and stern tone it is obvious but other than that the food isn't that bad but it's breakfast foods which isn't hard to remake at home. I ordered Anthony's plate? Something like that and it cost about $10, it's decent and we are in the upper hills so prices may be more expensive. I haven't been here for years and I remember the food being tasty breakfast fare. We show yesterday at about 2pm completely famished and order. I order breakfast, my husband orders the Reuben & my daughter orders the chicken salad-salad with chicken on top. My egg dish comprised of layers of 2 egg, bacon, cheese & tomato was meh. It was small,m, it was bland, it was kind of watery and it was &15+ dollars. The egg portion of my plate was small and was accompanied by breakfast potatoes. Well, those were hands down the worst breakfast potatoes I have ever had & I am a big time potato fan. The potatoes were bland, like zero flavor & were kind of mushy? I tried salt, pepper, ketchup & Tabasco, but nope nothing could coax those potatoes into having a bit of flavor. Really bad. My husband had the Reuben that had very processed almost slippery pastrami, it was flavorless, the sauerkraut had no flavor & the cheese somehow had no flavor! The bread was perfectly crisped , but contained a sandwich that was there, but had no evidence of flavor. My daughter took a few bites of her salad with chicken and that was it, she said the chicken tasty "like rubber bands"? LOL I tried it and the chicken was more like chicken jerky than grilled chicken. It was not a pleasant experience and while we were waiting for our food looking around the place just made me feel like I never wanted to be caught in there again. The walls were dirty, windows dirty, dust collecting in ridges everywhere and the whole place just looked like it needed a very deep cleaning and a fresh coat of paint. Luckily none of us got food poisoning. In the end, the bill was really high, the service was not good or attentive, until the bill came and then we got a lot of attention! The server stood there waiting for payment after she put the bill down on the table....ummm okay..? Will I be back, no. Do I recommend, no. It's too bad, because they have a bright airy corner spot with high ceilings, great for breakfast, but they aren't interested in the quality of the food, the cleanliness of the restaurant or the customer experience, they are only interested in getting the money. read more

Tried to go to Banana Blossom a couple doors down and found they are only open for dinner so . . . stared around the block and across the street. "Oh, that place with the cat icon looks cute" so in we went. My girlfriend got the cobb salad and I got a reuben sandwich with side salad. Service was fantastic - very friendly and attentive. Food was delicious - a short stack of buttermilk pancakes with fresh fruit, a side scrambled egg, and a cheeseburger with fries. I really wanted to like this place, as it's cute and close to my home. Sadly, there's not much to like. I ordered a basic breakfast: two eggs over easy, potatoes, and biscuits. About as basic as you can get. The eggs I got were over medium, the potatoes were bland, and the biscuits were a bit mushy. Another person I was dining with had a hair in their meal (though the restaurant remade it at no charge) and yet another person ordered a Turkey Ruben with a side salad, where the Ruben came without sauerkraut and the side salad was just iceberg lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shaved carrots. I feel like this place must have changed owners relatively recently because with food this bland/orders having so many issues, it's hard for me to imagine how they've stayed in business this long. I've been coming here for around 25 years. It used to be owned by a nice husband and wife team, Tony and Olga, from Greece. They moved back to Greece quite a few years ago, and sold it to two sisters, who have kept the place and the menu essentially the same. They are great people and the food is consistently good. Nice largish portions, and good food at a reasonable price and nice homey neighborhood atmosphere. I love the biscuits (homemade) in the morning, along with one of their many omelets. We moved out of the immediate area about 5 years ago, but still go back here whenever we are able. I'm actually planning a trip next week for my birthday! The benedict was covered in yellow hollandaise. Too much, too much. The poached egg it covered was over-poached and the yolk was no longer "poppable." It was like a hard-boiled egg. The only thing good about it was the Applewood bacon and there were only few pieces of it inside. The English muffin could have been a winner but it was soggy from the over-zealous hollandaise. Egg whites, avocado, bacon, spinach, mushrooms, swiss cheese. Heaven. My man had the chorizo omelet, which was also really tasty! Home style potatoes were lacking a bit in flavor and seasoning (nothing hot sauce and ketchup can't fix) but had large pieces, a nice rustic crust, and soft potato centers. The bagel toast was underwhelming (two super thin slices of a plain white bagel that had been cut into 5+ slices) but came hot and buttery. The biscuits were kind of rubbery and lacked a bit of flavor. The coffee was average but acceptable and came frequently and in really great mugs. The service was really amazing and friendly. The ambiance is cozy and clean. CASH ONLY! If you really want some breakfast and are in the area, I would suggest it. The variety of omelettes here is pretty impressive. I went with the Spinach, Gyro, and Feta Cheese Omelette ($6.99). It came with homefries and biscuits. Cheap!! Omelette was perfect. It looked kinda like a scramble, and had a good amount of cheese, spinach, and gyro meat. Although it looked a bit dry, it was actually very moist and flavorful. First omelette I've had in a while that didnt need any ketchup or jufran to lube it up. The gyro meat was much more tender than I expected, and it worked well with the feta. The homefries were decent. Lightly fried cut up potatoes with some onions. I prefer them a little on the crispier side, but they were still good. The biscuits were freshly made and moist as well. Jammed and buttered those suckers up for my breakfast dessert. When I first opened the little jam jar, I pulled the lid off and saw there was no spoon. As soon as I put the lid down, the server was there asking "Do you need a spoon for that?" and brought it right away. Awesome service. The coffee here is served in giant cups. It's nice to not have to have your cup refilled constantly. It works out for both the customers and the servers. Awesome, old-fashion, family-owned diner. This is one of our go-to breakfast spot for brunch on Sundays. It has all the classic breakfast meals (omelettes, benedicts, waffles, french toasts, etc.). The food is good, good enough for me to come back. The same group of ladies work here day after day, and they've always been very sweet and helpful. There is also outside seating if you want to bathe in the sun when it's warm, or hang out with your dogs while you're enjoying your meal! We have 2 dogs and are always looking for great restaurants with outside seating. No complaints here. read more

Was in the neighborhood and saw this place was busy, so thought I'd give their breakfast a try. The restaurant itself was cute, lots of windows and natural light. I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, the food and service was a miss for me. The staff was nice, but food took a while to get. I got the Blackstone Benedict (eggs Benedict w/ bacon) that came with breakfast potatoes. The bacon was very chewy and didn't have much flavor. The eggs were also not poached and were fully cooked. Since the eggs weren't runny, the Benedict was pretty dry, even with the hollandaise sauce. I think if they made the eggs actually poached, chose a less stringy bacon, and added some avocado to the Benedict, it could make a comeback. The breakfast potatoes were cooked well, but need more seasoning/flavor. Overall, giving 3 stars because I liked the ambiance & the smiles from the cook staff, but knocking some stars for the food & wait time. read more
