Exceptionally fresh fish in a stunning setting. Service is prompt and cheerful. Dog and kid-friendly. Sit in the shade at a picn8c table, inside if it's rainy or at the long counter, watching the waves.

I've been to the coastal kitchen a handful of times and they always have delicious hot plates as well as drinks. I also love their ice cream/soft serve they have! They have an adorable little marketplace that's attached with their own retail items as well as any sunscreen or sand equipment you might need! Every employee I've seen has been very welcoming and helpful and they seem to love working there as well. I've actually heard them singing as they're restocking and I think it's cute. They feel so at home while at work. I honestly love this little beach community and like how clean and respectful everybody seems to be on the beach itself! I can't wait to get a little Airbnb and stay here for the weekend!!

Fried chicken sandwich with mixed greens salad.
    Mark K.

I actually wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. The pickles were spicier than I was expecting but I managed to deal with heat. The sandwich came with a salad of mixed greens (plus arugula - yum) and was topped with a light vinegar based dressing. Both were very good. The young guy at the register was very friendly. It was a gorgeous warm day at Dillon and the view was epic. I will be back.

Well, I sure was thankful for this place on Saturday. After stopping by at the pizza place in Tomales and finding out they had run out of food, I seemed to have very few options. Luckily, we had stayed in Dillon Beach before and remembered there was a restaurant here ( although it was closed last time). So we came on down and checked out this location. Anyone who's been to Dillon Beach knows parking is a bit difficult to find and this place is no exception. However, the place is beautiful, the service is pretty good for a walk up type of location, and the food is delicious. Very happy with my burger and fries- I'm sure we will be back.

Toddler size chowder tin. You need the large for grown adults.
    Alex R.

I bought the $10 metal tin of chowder. They should definitely show the size before you purchase. It's super small and barely filled 3/4 . This is definitely toddler size. It came with a thin slice of fried bread. There was more vegetables than anything else swimming around the light chower sauce. Since there is nothing else to eat for miles around, I'll give it a 3 star.

    Joey approved patio area.

The only thing I'm sad about after my first visit here is that I didn't find this place sooner! Such a cute little beach restaurant with an amazing view and they are very dog and child friendly. I mean what else could you want? Oh yeah the food was great too! I went here with my family for my birthday lunch well actually we went to the beach and I wanted clam chowder after that. I yelped clam chowder from Dillon beach and it said this place was like right there. Dillon is my favorite local beach so I was shocked I just now found this spot now. I will definitely be back and soon. The service was fast and friendly also patient with our not so well behaved dogs ‍ They literally barked at her when she brought us the food. So shameful but she didn't seem bothered at all. Like I said they were very dog friendly with dog water bowls all over the patio area and plenty of room for everyone to spread out. There were in door seats too but most everyone sat outside bc it was a nice day and the entire patio is over looking the beach.

Three things that make this a great lunch spot: maybe the best fish and chips around that come with a house made mayo herb dipping sauce, the seasonal salad (today it had fresh greens, ripe melon and Oaxaca cheese), and the view of Dillon beach and Tómales Bay. Dog friendly outdoor seating.

Hubby and I grabbed a bite here on our first night as we weee settling in and thought the food was decent. We ordered the clam chowder, fried chicken sandwich and fish & chips. The best thing was honestly the fries - super crisp and well seasoned!

    Sunny dining room

Yes we live right by the Dillon Beach Resort but we hadn't been to Coastal kitchen in a long while but our friends insisted that it was seriously good. We walked in and really loved the sunny and beach space. We grabbed a table and ordered at the service station. The happy hour special (3-5) was for three rock cod fish tacos and a beer. We also ordered ish and chips. The drinks came out promptly with the henhouse beer ruling the roost. The fish tacos were beautiful with a large chunk of fish, fresh shredded cabbage and a soft tortilla. The real kicker was their incredible house made hot sauce. A grilled fish option would have been nice. The fish a chips were super fresh and hot with a light batter that realized complimented the fish. This place is definitely one of the best dining options in the area.

Juicy fish with a crispy beer batter atop a corn tortilla with slaw and tartar sauce. Great bite. You get to try the fish of the fish n chips without it being too heavy. My mom and I split a side of fries, and I am glad we did because they were delicious. Great flavor and cooked well. A little bigger of a cut than I normally like, but I actually thoroughly enjoyed them. We got some clam chowder to take home and have for dinner. It was delicious. Not too thick. It wasn't gelatinous at all, which is my main complaint with some clam chowders. The pieces of clam were larger than the average, and you could actually tell it was clam, not some mystery mush. In fact, the clams were delicious.

We had a tasty lunch with raw oysters and a jalapeño mignonette sauce, smoked trout dip, and a bowl of the chowder. My favorite chowder in Bodega Bay was Spud's, but I think this one knocked it out. I enjoyed the smoky flavor to it! Our kids aren't seafood fans so I really appreciated their kids menu that had butter & cheese pasta. Their Bloody Mary was solid as well! The following day, we had the Wedge Salad and calamari along with a bowl of chowder. The salad was crisp and the combination of ingredients was perfect with all the textures and flavors of the bacon, cherry tomatoes, shoe string onion rings, and blue cheese dressing...the best wedge salad I've ever had! They weren't overly attentive or constantly checking on you, which I actually appreciate. There were a couple of times I had to wait a bit to order another cocktail, but honestly, it was completely understandable. The bartender was right there working hard, making cocktail after cocktail. It looked like they were extremely busy and possibly a little understaffed -- she definitely wasn't standing around ignoring customers. The happy hour food was fantastic! We happened to wander to the end of the adjoining pier while we waited for our meal, which ended up being a top notch idea. Not only is there a darling, maritime-themed cottage, but we found a selection of board games that were up for grabs and we borrowed Yahtzee! to entertain ourselves during our meal. We weren't especially hungry, so we opted for a selection of sides, plus my friend is a fan of mussels, so we tried their weekly special. While seafood isn't my usual preference, the broth was delicious with a warm heat to it. Next up were the Mushroom à La Grecque, which I found on the sides menu. Simple, but tasty. The Grilled Asparagus could've learned something from the simplicity of the mushroom dish. It's trying to do so much. The crumbled hard-boiled egg and the marcona almonds, which lost most of their crunch. The gremolata wasn't noticeable and the seasonings weren't a garnish as much as a layer atop the vegetables. I ordered asparagus because I actually enjoy it and it was smothered. On the other hand, I love Strauss Dairy's everything. Nick's Cove offers a lavender or blue corn cone for their soft-serve ice cream and a number of other delicious options to get your ice cream on after your main course. The restaurant's large windows provide beautiful waterfront views no matter where you're seated. Our waitress (whose name I unfortunately forgot) was fantastic. I know Caesar dressing contains anchovies, but I was hesitant about having actual fish on my salad. I'm so glad she encouraged me to try the cooked anchovies on the side--they were delicious. Perfectly salty and a great complement to the salad. The pork chop entrée was perfection! The pork was cooked beautifully, and the bread pudding side was just as memorable. I'm not entirely sure what was in it, but it reminded me of garlic bread in the best way. The applesauce was also a nice touch. The halibut was cooked perfectly as well, and the mashed potatoes practically melted in your mouth. For sides, the grilled asparagus was exactly what you'd hope for, and the crispy potatoes lived up to their name, perfectly seasoned with a great crunch. The soup of the day was a creamy spring onion soup with crispy pancetta. Although just as delicious as everything else ordered, its the one plate we wished the portion was bigger for the price it was going for.
