As you walk through the front door, a thick cloud of cigarette smoke smacks you in the face. Unfortunately, when we went, it was the only place we found that was open late. The service was meh and the food was basically bar food. So, I would say the food was OK. I didn't have the wings, so I can't comment on them (I hear they are good, tho). As I looked around, everyone was eating. And I couldn't help wonder how this restaurant gets away with smoking indoors. My only rationale is that they just give zero f*cks. We had been staying In The Tavernier Keys area for the last 4 days. We pasted this place a few times and finally stopped in. What a surprise, the waitress was so pleasant with a smile when we sat down. I ordered something out of the ordinary the French dip and my husband the Key Largo fish sandwich. Both came out in record time and the flavor of both amazing! It is hard to find in a corner of a shopping mall but once you know it's there you will always remember and come back for years to come. read more

We had a chance to stop in this little gem on a Sunday returning from the Keys to DC. So first let me say..it was a Sunday morning and they had barely opened. We were greeted by a person named Lindsey who is quite possibly best spokesman for an establishment I've ever encountered. She described what they were know For (fantastic wings, fish tacos, salads) amd bragged about their fries and sides. We tried most everything she suggested and she was spot on. What was so cool about happening upon Dillon's in addition to the service and food was the fact we left saying we would love to return when I'm sure it was more hopping'. This is a local restaurant where the locals pack out the place every night!!! I went to the liquor store next door on a Tuesday evening and the lot was full. Had to ask the sales clerk if it was a special occasion and he said, "No, it's just Dillons great food." Had to try it out and OhMY GAWD was it the best food. It's hard to pick a favorite dish. There is a reason it packs out every night. I will just say my favorite are the ribs. The meat falls clean off the bones! It's my "go to" favorite. The prime rib is savory and excellently done. We asked for it to be done like the steak and it was no problem. And then there is the fish!!! Crunchy Grouper soooo good! They will also fix your catch for you. The drinks are also the most reasonable in the keys by far. You don't get fancy ones but you get a well made drink that doesn't break the bank. My favorite restaurant in the upper keys. Can't rate the food but based on the service alone, I would not waste my time coming back. We came in for drinks, potentially food. We got our drinks, she never asked if we would like anything else, to see a menu, nothing. She never came back to us once our 1 drink was done to see if we wanted any other drinks. This was recommended to us as the "place locals go". Maybe that is why we were disappointed: we're not locals. We all figured though, Irish pubs are always fun, right??? We did not have food, just drinks, so can really only comment on the service and atmosphere. There was some Irish decor; although I spent almost a month in Dublin and the isle - at no time did I think I was back across the pond. Nonetheless, there was a decent vibe of locals there (probably trying to avoid tourists) we just did not feel the place was for us. The service was quick, but simple. I would think if a server had a huge party pull up in a limo, and the bride got out still in her dress and a huge party walks in, you may want to engage them a bit. Walked here one night from my hotel a half-mile or so away. Fast service (even though the place was packed), good food with huge portions, and a big selection of draft beer. It was noisy and in general could have been better, but it's kind of a dive bar so I can't really complain. ;) Points for smoking allowed inside (they have a small non-smoking section too). Plus they'll grill your catch for you if you bring it in. I didn't fish, but if I did, would have totally done that! read more

This is our family's 'Go To' spot! The BEST Grouper Ruben in all of the Upper Keys (in my opinion); the Crispy Chicken Roll with chopped pieces of chicken breast, black beans, corn salsa wrapped in a flour tortilla and fried to perfection served with aioli sauce and salsa on the side. The Fourmost Burger is awesome and the meatloaf is 'town famous'! Thursday nights are always Irish Night with corned beef and cabbage; bangers and mash; and more Irish favorites including ice cold beer! Stop by to try it yourself....you won't be disappointed. Do be warned that they do allow smoking - but don't let that stop you! There are some out of the way - but still in the mix - rooms to the left of the front door that have windows and really help with the smoke. The ventilation system has gotten better also. I'm a Midwestern girl and picky about my beef, this is my go to burger place in the keys. Service is good, you look at that huge bar and see one person behind it and think "oh great, I'll have to order two drinks at once" but nope, those bartenders know what they are doing! Today we decided to try Dillions after a hard day of labor.... We went in thinking a burger was just what the doctor ordered. I went to yelp and kept reading people talking about the wings. Now... To preface this I want to note we are spoiled in regards to wings, we love special grill wings from Sports Grill in Miami and Pembroke Pines. Since eating there we have NEVER found any wing's that made us say... Whoa we need to come back here for their wings.... Until today. We asked our waitress for a recommendation and she said her favorite were the Thai wings... Another favorite were the jerk wings. We decided to try the Thai wings and they were sooo good!!!! So I won't say these are the best wings ever, but I will say they are a very very close runner up. We will be back to try the jerk wings next trip. Of note, they don't have wet naps. Our burgers were really good, nice and fresh. No frozen patties here. The wait staff was attentive, price was very reasonable and ambiance was relaxed/slow (Monday afternoon) but you can tell its a local hangout... Surprise surprise don't expect Irish food except on Thursdays it's more eclectic I was suspect seeing so many international flavors like adobo and thai sauce on so many things for an Irish place, but it is the bomb! Ducked in for a celebratory cold pop and a blast of cold air to escape the oppressive Summer heat and humidity. I've only ever had drinks here over the years. The place is an atypical Keys bar, pub, and grill that leans more toward the dark and cold inside. TVs, some bar top games, dark wood, and a cast of characters abound. I would call this more of a pub than dive bar. I plan to eventually try the food and then report back. I understand they have memorable Meatloaf on Thursdays, and D.J. Whoever called this a "dive bar" hasn't been out very much, this is as far from a dive bar as it is a dive boat. So take heed, smokers will NOT like this place, unless of course you have some crispy grouper. Neither would I call Dillon's "fine dining", but I don't think they're striving for that either. The name says it clearly, PUB & GRILL, and for that, their food is quite exceptional, especially the crispy grouper. You're covered with a good selection of bar treats and whole meals, so if in case you're looking for a PUB & GRILL to stop at, Dillon's can fit the bill quite well. Service is attentive, portions are healthy, and the place is filled with locals, which makes it more of an authentic Keys location to stop for a bite and a brew. If you're looking for palm trees and ambiance, water lapping on the shoreline and a smoke-free environment, keep driving. I also like that Dillon's has been there for a long time, with the Overseas Highway filled with come-and-go restaurants where stopping in is a crap-shoot, knowing this place is a mainstay and consistent is a big plus. A local suggested this place on my first night in town, so who was I to be picky. It turned out to be an OK experience. It's basically your neighborhood bar and grill with food that's nothing to write home about, but the place seemed to be full of really nice locals. It's located in a strip mall on the side that's easy to see from the main road, so easy enough to find. I'd try some other places next time I find myself in the area. read more

When my girlfriend and I stayed in Key Largo, we wanted to go to a sports bar/pub to watch the Patriots game (sorry I am a Pats fan but I'm from MA lol). It was during the 1 o'clock games and there was a good amount of people there. There seemed to be a lot of "regulars" there and they were extremely friendly. The waitress was very nice as well. They had really good beer specials and I could not believe how reasonably priced they were. We got clam strips, wings, fries, and a salad. We ate so much that we could not move! I could not believe my eyes when I saw my total bill. Food was good too. Im used to clam strips being made a little different being from New England, but they weren't bad by any means. The wings were crispy and tender. If I visit again and want to catch a game I am 100% coming back. read more

It's busy season here in Islamorada. You can really tell by the crowds in the restaurants. My boyfriend and I decided to try Dillon's. We hadn't been for awhile. I totally forgot that they allow smoking. We ordered food at about 7:10 and got our food 50 minutes later, while suffocating on cigarette second hand smoke. It was pretty miserable and will be completely OFF our list from here. Even the food when we finally got it was just barely edible. (We took it to go). Won't be back! read more

Went to Dillon's for dinner. Immediately walking in the whole place smelled like cigarette smoke, which was a bummer, but we sat down anyway since our Uber had already left and we were pretty hungry. The service was good, but the food was mediocre at best. I had a Philly Cheesesteak which was a bit under seasoned and needed a bit more provolone. Finally Smoke Free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Always one of our favorite places to eat, the specials are wonderful and it's great for dinner & a movie at the local theater (date night).
