Their portions were a lot bigger than your typical dim sum (8 pieces instead of the normal 3-4), which balances out for the higher costs. The dishes were decent and I enjoyed them. For a smaller group though, I do enjoy the smaller dishes better because you can have more variety before your stomach fills up. This would be better in a bigger group though. Mehhhhhhh. The only reason I came to try out this place was cause they had a groupon deal. $12 for $30, I thought, what a great deal. But noooo. Turns out, it's $10 off each purchase over $25, on 3 separate visits. I am being forced to return to a place that is meh for a deal that really isn't a deal. So here is my review. Ambience: 4/5. Okay, despite being in a strip mall the interior design is classy, casual, and cool. No complaints here. Price: $$$ no no no no. Way too expensive for what you get. Portion sizes were decent, but everything you had to get is way overpriced for what you could get at a dim sum place somewhere else. Not to mention, it's not even the real dim sum where waiters push around a cart of stuff for you to order off of. You order stuff off of a menu. Food: 2.5/5. Have tasted better. Noodles were pretty bland. Portions were small for dumplings and they tasted like the average kind you can get an any supermarket sideshop. The bean curd (I forget what you call the dish) was not as tasty as some other comparable dim sum places that are not as "upscale" or pricy. Don't know what happened to Dim Sum Factory-Factoria. The first 2 times we had their food it was so good we thought we'd found our permanent go-to for Asian cuisine. We were disappointed though with what we last received from them. The dinner we bought was only just OK, not exceptional as it was before when we had it. They take your order quickly and the food comes out with out much wait. My favorite are the pork buns, but be careful, they are hot when they are served. That is true of most of their food. It literally felt as though I walked into someone's house that I didnt know and was just tolerated for 30 minutes. I've been here a few times now for dinner, dim sum and picking up some items bakery. I find this place to be A-OK. One thing that's important if you come for Dim Sum is that the portion sizes are quite different than other Dim Sum places. Normally you'd get 3-4 pieces in each dish. Here you get 5-8 pieces and the dishes cost up to double the price as comparable restaurants in the ID. It makes it extremely difficult to get a nice variety of dishes if you're solo or with a small party. As much as I love Shu Mai, I probably don't need 8. Outside of Dim Sum they have an extensive dinner menu and bakery. It's kind of like a one stop restaurant for all Chinese food. XLB are decent, with a thicker wrapper with lots of soup. One thing that annoyed me was they don't have any ginger for the sauce. Nice to have XLB on the menu, but if you're going strictly for XLB, you'll have better experience at one of the places that specialize in XLB. Everything else is fairly standard. I will note that I had the Mapo Tofu and good lord is it spicy. This is from someone who usually gets 5 stars spicy. The bakery section is kind of sad. I'm usually there on weekends and every time most of the cases are empty. The restaurant is clean and modern and I like that it stays open slightly later than other places in Factoria. I'd say the service is on par with restaurants in the ID. If you want some service you have to waive them over. There's plenty of seating and I've never seen a wait. I found this restaurant to replace our old usual. Food here is clean and tastes freshly cooked. We've been pleased with our orders the last few visits. Overall, the food was great for a Chinese restaurant that is not in somewhere like Chinatown. The entrees and dim sum were really good. The only aspect that made our dinner not so great was customer service. I know for Chinese restaurants that customer service will not be the best, but here was a much different experience. Having to flag down a server and almost yell for a server was a bit ridiculous. They never bothered to come to our table but rather went to other tables, which I believe are frequent customers. Lastly, they even had the nerve to chase us down and ask us for more tips once were in the parking lot. Not sure what else to say except that customer service is not in their vocabulary. read more

Yes, I like this place. I came here for lunch today (around 11:55) and my group of 3 was pleasantly greeted by the hostess and sat immediately. We sat in a nice, clean, cozy booth. There was a bit of a lunch rush but there were plenty of waiters/waitresses to serve everyone. We really enjoyed the Juicy Pork Dumplings! These were outstanding!! Second best was the BBQ pork buns. We also had an order of pot stickers and the Shrimp Shiu Mai. Everything was very flavorful and fresh and each item came to us steaming hot. The tea was also delicious! Our server was outstanding and overall I was very impressed with our dinning experience. We were in and out in about 30 minutes and it was very busy in the dinning room. Plenty of parking nearby. We decided that we will just take the last order and cancel the other one. Right after we said that he kept insisting that we should replace it with something else on menu. Easy parking, food always comes out hot and attentive staff. To me, it's the best dim sum you'll found outside the international district. Wow, the Dim Sum Factory is a surprisingly polarizing restaurant. Well, we must be big fans as we've been patronizing them for years, first for dine-in and more recently skewed towards takeout. After recently dining in for the first time since the pandemic, I was appalled to learn of their low rating and inspired to write this review. Our favorites (so many!): bean curd roll, sticky rice, steamed buns w/ egg yolk butter, potstickers, baked BBQ pork pastry, baked BBQ pork buns, egg tarts, sesame balls, honey walnut prawns, & Szechuan green beans. I'm sure there are other great dishes, but these favorites alone overstuff us, and we can't tear ourselves away from them. The dine-in service can be hit or miss. I remember one particularly annoying miscommunication during dine-in a few years ago. I think the mobile phone ordering system they've introduced should help. So glad we went, we ordered the following: Sticky Rice Steamed Cha Sui Bao Baked Cha Sui Bao Sui Mai Xiao Long Bao Rice Noodle Taro Ball All were very good and in comparing the Xiao Long Bao to Din Tai Fung, I prefer these more because they were larger, the soup inside was hotter and the flavor was better. 9/12/2019 Food poisoning.... 5 people out of my party got food poisoning. Unfortunately I did not go see a doctor and have the health department shut this place down to do some inspections. Good luck if you're gonna eat here, It's a gamble on your health. I've read the reviews but gave it a chance anyways. My gut feelings and wallet paid for it. I would definitely not recommend this place and I hope health inspectors investigate and possibly shut this place down. This is my favorite place and not many will agree with me, the reason being this has a lot of chicken and sea food dimsum options along with other entrees. We always had been in a group, service was neither bad nor good. They just did what was asked for and that's reasonable. Only thing I hate was being charged for 18% service charge because of a toddler in our group. I have tasted all the shrimp and chicken dinsum and it tasted good. I took them out for Asian food everyday in 3 weeks and they seem enjoy the food here most.(not considered the service) I like top gun when I go with 1-2 people, because I can eat more variety. Shrimp and chive dumplings --so good, thin white sheet with big piece of shrimp in it. 2. Hongkong style noodle-- The gravy is delicious, not too salty but still flavorful.
